    About Cathay Pacific (from Wikipedia):
Cathay Pacific Airways Limited (CPA), more widely known as Cathay Pacific (Chinese: 國泰航空), is the biggest airline in Hong Kong, with its head office and main hub located at Hong Kong International Airport. The airline's operations and subsidiaries have scheduled passenger and cargo services to over 190 destinations and present in more than 60 countries worldwide including codeshares and joint ventures. Cathay Pacific operates a fleet consisting of Airbus A321, Airbus A321neo, Airbus A330, Airbus A350, and Boeing 777 aircraft. Cathay Cargo operates two models of the Boeing 747. Defunct wholly-owned subsidiary airline Cathay Dragon, which ceased operations in 2020, previously flew to 44 destinations in the Asia-Pacific region from its Hong Kong base. In 2010, Cathay Pacific and Cathay Pacific Cargo (then Cathay Cargo), together with Dragonair (then Cathay Dragon), carried nearly 27 million passengers and over 1.8 million tons of cargo and mail.
    About Airbus A350 (from Wikipedia):
The A350-900 is the first A350 model; it has a MTOW of 280 tonnes (620,000 lb), typically seats 325 passengers, and has a range of 8,100 nmi (15,000 km). Airbus says that per seat, the Boeing 777-200ER should have a 16% heavier manufacturer's empty weight, a 30% higher block fuel consumption, and 25% higher cash operating costs than the A350-900.[206] The −900 is designed to compete with the Boeing 777 and 787[207] (777-200ER/LR, and Boeing 787-10), while replacing the Airbus A340-300 and A340-500.

@17:56 you’re right. We’re understaffed. Manpower has been cut on every flight and it’s not going to go back. That’s why it took that long for your meal. As an emerald member, I suggest you leave some advice to our company because you guys matter and we don’t. They don’t give a fuck about us not getting enough rest between flights, not having enough manpower to do the service, which by the way, it concerns you. We used to a “standby” crew in case any emergency happens, but now it’s gone! Where did he go? He is now serving meals. So is it still safe on our flights? I’m starting to doubt that

I guess it's a bit similar to what most airlines were like back in early 2022 when the world reopened. When profits increased later thanks to more ridership, payrolls of staff increased as well. Hopefully you guys can still organize a strike without it getting struck down by then.

Person from Hong Kong here, they have previously fired lots of their employees due to pandemic, and when Cathay decided to rehire them, they have to work back from the bottom of the corporate ladder, hence the low staff morale. @@hox1788 Basically the massive decline in standard in flight ops. In the 90s, 2000s CX was a very desirable airline to work for and attracted the best from around the world. These days it's got a terrible reputation with pilots today expats that fly there that don't have any other option or a poor record elsewhere.
In the years leading up to COVID management showed a huge disconnection from operations. Hence the collapse of Dragon and struggling to staff their operation. It's no longer treated as an airline by management and thus for the last few years there is no interest from experienced aviation professionals from pilots to people with experience in managing an airline.
As a pilot myself CX was going to be my first choice but after talking to a lot of people at the top of Flight Ops (Check and Training Captains, Base Training Captains, Fleet Managers, HKCAD Licensing Authority pilots etc) I was talked out of it in about 2013/14. These guys were ex RAF Red Arrows, RAAF Roulettes, military instructors and management pilots. They all said the same thing then - CX flight standards are now driven by accountants and since I've been told pilots get no real say in safety.
Very glad I listened to them.

CX was so consistent pre-COVID. Its ground service at SIN (my hub) is still better than that of SQ I feel like but you can see onboard crews becoming unprofessional (or as some in the comment section rightfully pointed out, unable to be professional due to multiple constraints) and lapses emerge.
I do hope CX can recover and heal better.

About the Masterworks-thing: don't get fooled by the beautiful numbers, because there are hidden costs and there is no guarantee at all the artwork is going to be sold. Up to the moment Masterworks decide they want to sell the artwork, you will have to pay a fee to let them store the artwork. The hidden costs includes a 1.5% annual management fee on the account's total value. Also, when the platform sells the artwork (could be after three years, but also over ten years (no guarantee for the date it will be sold) for a profit (no guarantee that the artwork will make a profit when it does get sold), they retain 20% of the profits.
You see beautiful numbers in the ads they are speading all over RUclips, saying there is a massive queue to join Masterworks, in reality there isn't any and you can't force Masterworks to sell the piece of art you have invested in. You are totally dependend on what Masterworks wants (which is making money themself). Know where you want to invest in, Masterworks can be the bad option for you.

Hi Dan! How’s it going! I’m a cabin crew at CX and im new here. I hope you can see this. You mentioned our crew members are one step below. Here’s why. 9100hkd is our basic salary excluding layover allowance which is the equivalent of 1130 USD. After the pandemic, some of my colleagues get 13 turnaround flights for a month, meaning ZERO layover allowance is given.
We’ve been trying our very best, I hope you enjoyed our service though.

I recently flew from Melbourne to London Heathrow via Hong Kong in economy (first time with Cathay), and I can say I definitely prefer it to Singapore airlines which I flew Brisbane to Heathrow a few months earlier. Obviously it's a subjective opinion but I found the food was better, the inflight entertainment was way better, and even the toilets on board and the staff seemed better as well. Plus the airport in HKG isn't too bad either (I still prefer Changi in Singapore but that's a hard one to beat) it has some really nice views of the surrounding hills. I'd definitely recommend Cathay to economy travellers on a medium budget.

Though I wouldn’t say the service on cathay is world class, the service you got on those flights definitely isn’t representative of Cathay’s actual service. I live in hongkong and fly them quite a bit I i’ll say that 4/5 flights would have service and meals significantly better than that. Anyways, Great Video! And although you mentioned you wouldn’t be seeking Cathay out, you should definitely consider flying them again, especially once they’d had some time to recover from the pandemic.

I was lucky that when HK finally 'reopened', I was able to get a Business ticket from Asia →Europe for the price that economy was being sold for by some airlines. Since then, Cathay's prices are shooting up and the Status Points given for the same journey in Premium Economy is *just* too small to push me into a Gold Upgrade. All sorts of frustrating...

I flew out to Asia from London between Jan and March. So i flew London to Singapore via SQ where i arrived for 5 hours and rather than staying around Changi airport went to meet some friends around joo chiat in Katong. I later took a Cathay flight to HK and i was so surprised at the different service i was provided. It was just little more comfortable and the food for what was a 4 hour flight was very decent. My most recent experience was pre-pandemic and flew Melbourne Australia to Frankfurt via Hong Kong in Premium Economy, all 4 sectors offered different levels of experience both on the ground and in the air. I haven’t flown with Cathay since, preferring Thai, Air NZ, Singapore and Royal Brunei.
