i like the Guncannon more then the Gundam to be honest ...... something about a beast with two large cannons blapping enemies at med range just speaks to me

Yeah... it was sorta silly t see it firing on full auto in the original series.
Only 40 shots to squeeze off, but in the right circumstances... you could mag dump and run. A Mag dump of 240mm rounds. With the right ammo types you could make a base buster.
It is impressive for sure but to be fair the 120mm Zaku MG is a slower MG which is why the 90mm we see in 0080 is developed.
Yeah but you need to bring lots of spare barrels.

The Guncannon is probably the most underrated suit in UC Gundam. I even remember when they used to make good Gundam games like Journey to Jaburo and Gundam Crossfire; I would kick the bricks off some enemies with that thing.
Or push a Zaku off a cliff like the anime
I LOVED the Guncannon in Journey to Jaburo.
Quick two shots with the beam rifle, then finish with the cannons, all while spamming the vulcans and that was usually enough to take down anything.
I loved them in Federation vs Zeon just sit in artillery mode and take out battleships and gaw attack carriers.
@@HamanKarn567 O dude in that game if I remember correctly, the Guncannon was like a Martial Arts master. Using the melee on that thing would have you kicking and punching like crazy.

I really want a gundam series with more "grunt centric" suits like this one. I love Gundams, but the GMs deserve more love than getting exploded by Zakus all the time.

@@hippoace 08th MS team still had “Gundams” as the central point. Any GMs or scrub suits you saw in the series got annihilated. Remember the Gouf Guntank scene? 0083 same principle, the Gundam was the end all be all suit. RIP Allen Burning using that High performance GM, then DYING TO SOME SCRATCH

It’s not because of War In The Pocket, I have a massive amount of nostalgia from piloting one in UCGO and from that experience I learned just how much of a beast the Guncannon actually is.

I do like the overall look of the Mass Production type. Similar how Zakus look. It's just aesthetically cool looking
I remember how great the Guncannon was in Fed vs Zeon. Had the best of both worlds. Beam and Heavy Artillery.
Plus since it doesnt switch weapons when doing hand to hand it has a speed advantage when doing melee combat. Approximately a 25 frame advantage.

@@DJRonnieG It's not a zeon suit, cuz I wouldn't consider the Heat Hawk a "short blade" in the same sense as the Guncannon's dagger

I mean the RX-77-3 Heavy was probably better than the GM II that defended Jaburo
I mean ya pretty much anything with higher tech or better upgrades (for Existing units) would out class the gm like how much do you want to bet a basic gm would kick a gm II ass (in Aerial combat or space combat)

This is what I like about the Gundam series. These mobile suits, Gundams, mobile armor and so on get the same level of detail to their history like real military weapons. The same kind of enthusiasm like those who love tanks. It’s something you don’t see often in any war drama.
Work of beauty, deserves a history befitting of its glory, yes?

I'll always think the Guncannon in repeat stock footage of shooting with its hands flat against the ground is more hilarious than it deserves. The line is such a cool design to me and is the basis for one of my OCs custom Gundams.
I might suggest three alternate theories for why the Guncannon Mass-Production Type has the RX designation for experimental units. One: the RX-77D was originally intended as a prototype, but the unit was pressed into full production out of necessity, or the goal of the project changed from a prototype unit to a mass-production unit somewhere during development and the designation stuck. Two: the disparity was an attempt at deception; either the federation labelled the RX-77D as a mass production unit to give Zeon the impression they had more than they actually did, or gave a mass production type an RX code to hide that it was actually being put into full deployment. Three: somewhere in the development process, someone made a clerical error which resulted in a mass production unit being given a designation usually reserved for prototypes. I have no evidence for any of these theories, but am curious if people who are more familiar with the setting might be able to support or dismiss them.
Those are some pretty valid theories.

Guncannon MP design are actually intended as updated design of OG guncannon for 0080 OVA. but they instead made it into MP variant
There's a very little known weapon for the RX-77-2 Guncannon. You only see it in the PS2 game Zeonic Front. It's called the Primer Based Rifle. In Zeonic Front when you unlock Agar, you can use his Guncannon. And it's armed with the Primer Based Rifle. I could not find any details on this weapon, and it's likely a very early limited production weapon developed specifically and hastily for the early Guncannons that were produced to fill ranks.

Hey Kakatot I have fun suggestion. Maybe ask some of your viewers who own GBO2 on PS4/PS5 for some demonstration clips of some features of mobile suits you feature in these well made videos (mind you they pretty much only apply to UC MS since GBO2 is focused around that).
GBO2 has a good reputation of the original settings of some units, cause I am playing the game.
I would totally donate some gameplay. I got the skills to pay the bills.

Remember when Agar appeared with his Guncannon team in Zeonic Front? Those were always the tense missions when they popped up because of their one hit damage with the cannons. Didn't help when Agar eventually got Mudrock.

I remember in all of its appearances in video games, the white dingo version of the MP guncannon wielded akimbo machineguns like an absolute chad
I always wondered why the guncannon didn't have a beam saber because it has nothing for close range except for it's hands
It's a mid to long range unit. If it's in hand to hand, something is wrong.
That said, some improved actuators, and you should be able to slug 'em before running.
@@bthsr7113 I mean Dynames had sabers, but those were discontinued from its line due to much the same reason. That said I'd like that little bit of extra distance depending on the weapon's size/design. I'd even take the Ground Type or Striker Shield if it meant avoiding fists, plus expendable protection/distraction in that case.
If fists get involved that enemy better be getting drug through the ground head first like in G Gundam or any other instance in media of something like that.

@@reeseolsen4052 Well, with Dynames, its successor, the Cherudim, had its CQB needs handled entirely by the GN Beam Pistol IIs, an upgraded version of the Dynames' GN Beam Pistols that also feature a hatchet blade-like area below the barrel with anti-beam coating. A second pair of these pistols would also be added to Cherudim with its Heavy Weapons System package as backups, and the machine also had remote weaponry that can conduct attacks from any range and angle, giving it no true blindspots or vulnerabilities at any given range. Cherudim's pistols and remote weaponry would then be functionally combined with further development, giving rise to the Zabanya's GN Pistol Bits, which could be equipped with a barrel attachment to become Rifle Bits for extra firing range.
@@spiceracksargent0014 Yeah this I already knew, but that doesn't change the fact that for a Guncannon I'd rather have anything more than just its fists for melee. The reason I mentioned Dynames was much as you added it's line had other options available instead of its fists.

In my vr game they where mobile af because during the fight between my oc who at this point was in a new form the guncannon heard my oc like a sheep into a war zone with the destroy gundam and they ended up helping my oc out by joining the oddsquard anti devil program to assist my oc to end the devil gundam

also, if you made a drinking game out of all the times "upgraded backpack" or some variation, it may kill you.
Guncannons are great. The Gundam obviously was the star and great at going up against a variety of threats, and the Guntank was the best at shelling bases with overwhelming firepower, but the Guncannon was a good middle ground. I imagine they work best if you have a few working in concert to make dodging their artillery even more difficult.
Imagine having the Guncannon ground type in battle operation 2..
I want guncannon heavy custom more, and it was already in GBO1 so it should appear one day

you know i would love to see the gm development history i mean it was the main federation mobile suit to be mass produced and while some didnt age well in the hands of decent pilots they were amazing and their legacy lead to one of my all time favorite mobilesuits being that of the jegan ^^

What is the fastest mobile suit on foot based on the running speed with their legs? (You can separate them between eras if possible)
In 0079 Char's Z'gok running was the fastest imo. 08th the gouf custom 0080 maybe the Alex not sure. 0083 GP01 based on the scene maybe. 0096 efreet schneid maybe. Gundam 00 els quanta I guess~that's all I watched or remember(=w=)..

i remember my first 2 MG kits being a Guncannon and a GM[G]. while the Guncannon isn't considered as strong as the RX-78-2, he's one of the fun suits to play in most games (Assault Survive / Extreme Versus comes to mind).
can you do one for SEED's Akatsuki? its development history is roughly a mystery besides being roughly associated to Strike line

Man I got so many kills in the rocket pod Guncannon back when I played GBO2. Thing chewed up general types like corn on the cob.
The Type D is a chad in BO2. One of my favorites.
Gotta hit them zekes with the FIRE NUT grenade and finish them off with the BALZAC type bazooka
I love using the Guncannon II in the G Gen games. It's got a pretty unique colour scheme for a Federation MS.

Despite the success of it as a support machine the federation didn't really capitalize on its strengths all that much and tried to use it as a vanguard instead over artillery.

Kai Shiden, Agar, Lydo wolf, and Bork Cry be representing the best known Guncannons pilots.

This suit looked kinda dorky but wow! It was a legit badass in its own way. Another walking weapon we need a video for is the Destroy Gundam.
