A review of the Master Grade Guncannon from the original 1979 anime series Mobile Suit Gundam. A rare old-school Master Grade that still holds up. Great kit.
-- Production Notes for Later Reference --
- This video is technically a reupload of a previous review. However, I had to take it down and swap out the music, so I decided to make some updates. Below are the notes for the original version, followed by the notes for this updated version.
- Not sure how I feel about this one. That last review (God Gundam) felt like I had hit another level, but this one feels a little underwhelming. I think part of it is the lack of things to talk about with this kit. I mean, even if I touched on every little detail here, I doubt it would've broken 10 minutes long. Hopefully the F91 will give me a lot of room to experiment.
- Anyway, not really much to say in terms of production here. Pretty straight forward.
- I tried to speed up the script a lot, but still feel it's a little too slow. Need to find a way to pick up the pace.
- The audio sounded a little rougher than before, like I had forgotten to EQ out all the bass or something. But I'm pretty sure I did, so I don't know what happened here.
- I actually ran out of poses for this kit because of the horrible articulation. So I think that leads to this kit looking a little boring and repetitive.
- I like including manual inserts during the gimmicks section, but I find that they take up a lot of room. I think in the next review I'll take 2 pics of each weapon, one in the center and one with it slightly to the right so there's room for the manual insert. It'd be nice to have options on this one.
- I edited a chunk of this while drunk, so I feel some of the pacing is a little off, especially in the later half of the gimmicks. I also think the script wasn't structured well in that section about the cannons, so it made editing a little tough.
- I did some streaming a few weeks ago. Probably will try to stream again when I build the F91 ver 2.0 in a few days. Maybe not though. Streaming terrifies me, and honestly I'm pretty annoyed at my performance last time. I like having trial runs and being able to edit and practice stuff, but when you stream, you can't. It's all live. There's no Take 2. So I'm still on the fence about if I should pursue that any more.
Here are the notes for this updated version:
- This was the first 're-upload' version I worked on, so it's the roughest of these re-uploads.
- New music, but not sure I nailed the right levels
- Re-EQ'd audio. But didn't really change the sound too much
- Minor touch-ups to the title card
- Updated fonts
- Didn't touch the color and I don't think I sped any sections up. This, being the first of the re-uploads I worked on, had the least done to it.
I'm just gonna make it a thing now that I post the song I had on repeat while working on the review. This time it was this hot classic: • Video That sick sunglasses throw... too good.

I absolutely love your channel. Your reviews are just the right length, concise but enough time to give us all the information we need. A lot of gunpla reviewers tend to focus on whether they liked the series the mobile suit came from rather than the kit itself, or focus on it as an action figure without considering the build. Plus, your production values are great! No fumbling hands everywhere, just steady camera and clean audio. Great stuff!
These videos are just so oddly entertaining! I don’t even own any kits you’ve reviewed, I just like watching them.

I wish Bandai would do a Master Grade of the RGC-83 Guncannon from 0083. They did the RGM-79N Custom and the RGM-79Q Quel, so why not the Guncannon? They finally brought one out in 1/144 HGUC, but I prefer the 1/100 scale of the MG line.
If you want an older kit that also holds up well today, ever consider reviewing the mg dom?
while it holds up perfectly I still think the dom should get a 2.0. the kit is perfectly fine, even remarkable to this day but... it just looks old. (old=/=bad)
I don't think they should re release it looking like the freedom 2.0, that style just wouldn't fit but I feel that most people who aren't fans of the design are passing on it over looks alone

the first mobile suit toy i ever owned was a guncannon, maybe its time i reaffirm that choice, i still love this old boy, i didnt even ask for it, it was just a random one my mother got me bless her cancer ridden soul.
I want this kit so so bad!!!!! The guncannon is one of my fav designs from the OG gundam series :) could be interesting to mod a universal joint at the thighs!
Bandai should make a Guncannon 2.0 MG.

I love the guncannon but as much as I want it in 1/100 scale, the HGUC revive 1/144 version looks to be more fun and newer with the best articulation
Nice kit and nice review, I like your channel that you're focusing on reviewing MG! I really like MG line, i feel more comfortable when building MG rather than RG (parts are too little for me :( though it have good details ). But MG line offering good price with good size and gimmick/details in my opinion, better than HG or SD Kit. Can you reviewing MG Guntank and maybe Acguy? it's kind of overlooked kit...unpopular, in my opinion especially Guntank. But i really curious about it haha...i also have a future plan to grab that Guntank maybe next month....
I'm building the MG Accguy now and it's pretty easy. The connectors on the arms are kind of weird and you need to use a bit more force than you think.
This is a warning for this kit. When you buy it, check runner E. It has a slight tendency to be brittle and completely unusable. Recently bought one and as I was build I noticed runner E pretty much couldn't be used. So now I'm stuck waiting for a price drop to buy an entirely new kit or waiting for the runner to be available online.

@@Benjamin1998 It means that the plastic used on older prints of this kit practically disintegrate making it the kit impossible to complete. I bought 2 older prints of the kit and returned them. Then waited for a newer print.

Wish they mad an MG of the Mass Production version tho. That was my favorite version. I kinda don't like the round, grey shoulders on this one.

Admittedly a great set. But I wish Bandai would’ve released a Guncannon 2.0.
I do think the origin kit of this had grenades in the leg it would be so much cooler cus me 14 I like to play with them😅 if thay hold up un like the mg unicorn gundam

Yeah, no screws. It surprised me to, especially considering this kit came out right after the MG God Gundam.

I know you have an explanation for why your re uploading all your videos but I'm too lazy to read the description so why are you re-up loading your videos
It's explained in the channel update video I posted a few days ago.
Basically I ran into issues with the background music, so got a friend to make some new, completely original, music. So gotta replace all videos with versions using the new music.
I'm also taking the opportunity to upgrade a lot of these reviews. Like the Ground Gundam review has completely re-recorded audio and tighter editing, the Wing and Stamen review are going to have the scores tweaked along with the edited scripts/re-recorded audio, and older reviews (Hyaku Shiki and before) are going to be completely redone. Each upload has a little run-down in the description of changes made if you're interested.
