Mark Suciu in Stuttgart - Learning German and looking at spots | SOLO

- We were working on an article with Mark Suciu for our recent issue while by chance it happened that Beirut played their first gig in years in Berlin which Mark did not want to miss out on. That’s why he flew over to Germany and planned to later on go skiing in Switzerland with his friend Ian from Coureur skate shop, who joined him on the trip. In between it fit perfectly to go filming with Torsten Frank and shoot some more photos for the article in Stuttgart. So we also booked a train ticket and spent two days with Mark who unfortunately arrived in town with a fewer and was greated by rain. But in the end it all worked out and we used the rained out day to look for some Lem spots and improve Mark’s German language skills.

The German police, "this is art...".
Never in my life have I seen a collection of art peices resemble classic skate features so well lol.
I could watch Suciu talk spots for an hour. No skating required.
100%
He needs to start a yt series or a patreon for it. It's the best
@@theogrundy7445 na not everyone needs to be doing that
@@MudMargera did you enjoy it tho?
If you've never watched somebody browse a library for a book.... this video is definitely for you.
Maybe we’ll upload the extended version at some point 😆
So cool to see all this footage filmed in my hometown!
"he was trying to tell me the history of his family" 😂
quite a sad interaction tho, i felt bad for the old man, he seems kind
@@gifterhater69 why sad? hes there to film not talk to some old guy
@@imadecoy yeah but that old guy seemed quite nice and so maybe just say a few words to him and politely tell him u got other stuff to do
@@gifterhater69 I agree with you. I was expecting Mark Suciu to be way nicer to that old lad. Those tricks are not running away and you should always respect your elders. 😌
@@ShivaRainchild especially since he was so eloquent and well behaved in other interviews
ohjaaa bester mann! Mega Video
I love the way Mark looks at spots, big source of inspiration
Thanks Solo mag. What beautiful city.
"Zeig mal Thorsten" - hat kurz im Herz weh getan. Geile Zeit!
I need this video turned into a full series, Mark touring all of Germany, then Europe, then everywhere
Man, Mark really does look unwell, poor bugger. Also, as a librarian I can say that is the cleanest looking library I've ever seen! Nice to hear Mark is a Calvino and Sebald fan too...
looks normal to me what shows you he is unwell?
@@FlipFIicks The whole first section he just looks under the weather to me compared to other vids I've seen him in. Also seems to be a little laboured breathing when he speaks and is constantly covering his mouth with his hoodie when he gets close to talk to the filmers and crew, like he's got a cold/flu or something and is trying not to spread germs. But who knows, he might've been fine just looked a little less energy than usual to me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Danke für das tolle Video🙏
So cool seeing Suciu giving directions to the filmer. He's a visionary.
Very interesting to understand a little of Mark's mind, in a city with good spots.
Such a cool video. Good job on the editing too ❤
Geil, voll die entspannten vibes beim Filmen mit Thorsten ❤
Very very cool video, made my night. Lots of love ❤
Wow. That was just beautiful ❤
Mark Suciu is great. Love his skating and he seems like such a cool guy. Same in that video where he was at the pryamid ledges few years ago.
happy he enjoys Germany :D
Suciu is soo chill, such a nice person
I didn’t want this to end.
that one lady was so kind!!
She was looking for something
@@a7xSkateboarding haha for sure
@@a7xSkateboardingbeing kind and helpful actually feels good, u know… I think it’s called empathy, where u put yourself in someone elses shoes and try to feel the feelings they feel. There doesn’t have to be an ulterior motive
@@atiithe There is always an ulterior motive. Welcome to earth...
@@SteveSmith-ze5mw No there isn’t
I thought i was the only one who still says "zeig mal thorsten". Legendary Lem clip 😂
What's the background story to this?
@@landwirtschaft2116 back then u could buy skatemagazins in germany and everytime there where a 30 min video of german skaters in it. also a video of lem vellemin back when hes was like 14? and there was a clip where he said "zeig mal thorsten" and that was a little meme in the german skateszene :D
Really cool chill dude!
Those black/gum superstars are fire 🔥
That was sick thanks guys
A young legend
Learning German isn't so easy. Mark has the accent down though. I've been at it for 5 years and my British accent still comes through a lot. Tolles video, vielen dank.
Quite enjoyed this skate tourism. Didn’t even mind the Beirut this time
Legendary moment
So good 😊 🔥
I dunno i just love the color and the audio is so pleasing
I lived and worked in Stuttgart for the summer of 1998.
what a beautifully skateable city
this was rad
The "wild Marble" is called Travertin. Its origin used to be in Stuttgart.
der gleiche Stein wie unterm Hbf? Wieso -used to- , gibts kein Travertin mehr in Stuttgart?
Of course Mark loves Calvino. Nice video
Awesome
This is pretty much how I would have imagined he would live
8:19 Mark Suciu with a Nikon F2 (?). Anyone got a link to some of his photos if they're posted anywhere?
caring about how the sun makes the shot look and how many times hes gonna push is what makes mark an artist
that first spot looks like a temporary skate park in the middle of a square
It looks like a quarterpipe, but you're not allowed to skate it because it's supposed to be art. What was the artist thinking? I don't understand it.
That Quaterpipe was a Part of the Concreteform of the ,,Kelchstützen'' from the new controversial Railroadstation Stuttgart 21 which is in Construction since 10 Years. A complete Disaster that costs more than 10 Billion Dollars. Now that Concreteform is called Art.
Skate and destroy..
Sick
♥
♡
look how they lay the bricks on those banks to just try any sort of skate stopping, that's insane
sick
🙏
took this personal...
any one know what shirt or jacket he’s wearing at 8:46 thing is super cool
Thais is Not German Police. They‘re just from the municipality. 20 years ago a Officer said to me while I was ridin my bike (1:30 a.m. Königstrasse), that they just gave them a uniform.
what camera are you using Mark?
That art was made to skate.
Please dont upload videos at 50fps 😭
Suciu went to heaven 7:50 LOL
hellride?
mans directing his own footage lol
Old people telling stories is like skaters showing their clips 😂

me and my crew used to be one of the best in Germany like 10-11 years ago...everybody quit...skateboarding is dead here now. I went to university and have a shitty job as a consultant now. Used to be followed by tony hawk and hist on instagram lmao people at my job have no clue...its crazy to go from somewhat famous to a nobody/salaryman lol
Love that !!
'These are not ramps, these are art'
Theyre ramps tho
What a hipster.
