I usually don’t judge a part on my first time watching it. I watch it multiple times and wait a long time and watch it again to see if it still holds up. I did that with this one and I’ve came to my conclusion that I think this is the actual best video part.

Yeah! And he's not doing like, 'classic' mirror tricks a lá the beginning of arto's part in flip's 'sorry' and plenty of others. I don't mean to get all fucking intellectual but Mark has a degree in the humanities and reads a lot and is on some 'postmodern' shit. Like earlier in the part, he does the (patented) REGULAR BACK 180 sw front FIVE 0, then a NOLLIE FRONT 180 sw NOSEGRIND (both rolling up backside). And that is a mirror. But the 'classic' mirror would be rolling up to the other rail frontside, and doing an alley oop front 180 sw back nosegrind. Also does an alley oop fs flip over a rail... then instead of a switch alley oop fs flip, he does a switch alley oop bs flip. Dude is on another level, it's so great to watch. And that's before the ending part comes in. It's not always 'classic' mirroring, and it can be confusing. Watch it on .75 speed. And if you're feeling nerdy get a pen and paper out. Kyle Beachy wrote a great piece on this part on jenkem
Mark is probably closer to an actual genius than you think. He almost quit skating to be a Dr. Glad he didn't.

This is my new favorite part of all time. The footwork, the style, the trick selection. This is what modern street skaters should strive for. He doesn't just have a bag of tricks, he approaches spots with a different understanding of what can be done on a skateboard.

Kids today will look at Mark Suciu the way I watched Marc Johnson. He also has that PJ Ladd switch and tech game also. One of the best parts to exist. Well done, Mark! I know it’s like a broken record, but this is SOTY worthy.

The second i saw, that this is a twelve minute part, i decided to do anything in may way to be able to enjoy this part as much as possible. I tidied my room, cooked myself a nice dinner and got into my most comfortable clothes. I knew this was gonna be awesome and i had to make sure that i would experience this part in its full glory. Damn it was worth it. Its a 12 minute part but i made it a 30 minute experience. Had to watch some sections three times. This might even be a multi hour experience, given the time i'll be thinking about this part... damn.. Mark suciu making history right here

And I always find suciu's parts take time to sink in. Usually at least 4 viewings, if not like 10, at least one viewing entirely in slow motion, and a good week or so to process it all.
The 7 lines at the end are almost perfectly symmetrical in terms of backside/frontside 180s, backside/frontside to the ledge, flip/heel, and nollie/fakie:
Line 1 - 50-50, nollie fs heel fakie 5-0 bs 180 out
Line 2 - Nollie crook, nollie fs flip fakie nosegrind fs 180 out
Line 3 - Nosegrind fs 180 out, fakie bs flip nosegrind fs 180 out
Line 4 - Nollie fs 180 sw fs 5-0 fs 180 out, Nollie bs 180 fakie bs 5-0 fs 180 out
Line 5 - Fakie flip sw 5-0 sw back 180 out, nosegrind bs 180 out
Line 6 - Sw bs flip nosegrind bs 180 out, fakie crooks
Line 7 - Nollie bs heel sw 5-0 bs 180 out, 50-50
Look at the first and last trick, then the second and second last trick, then the third and third last trick etc. Line 4 is in the middle, and the two tricks are symmetrical to each other. Any of these lines on their own are pretty insane, but the fact that Mark planned these lines out to be virtually symmetrical and then actually did it seems pretty amazing to me.

You should read the Jenkem mag review on the part. There's a lot deeper stuff going on here than even that !
Verso means flip side in latin. The recto is the front of a page and verso is the back. The part is organized around the theme of symmetry.

After reading the JENKEM article, I have decided this part is hands down the best skate part ever. Recto/Verso, The reflective surfaces and images, pairings, b-roll, symmetrical spots and skating, the ABBA thing... it's literally some of the best skating ever AND it's like a visual poem with a hidden riddle... dude... whaaaaat the actual fuck? The levels to this shit is seriously mindboggling.

Milton and Mark got me tripping for SOTY this year. Sheesh
Truong Tran I think they both deserve it. But Suciu was more versatile this year. He won contests, got covers, tons of mag coverage, not to mention this fucking total work of art. He’s been all over Instagram hitting big rails and just skating everywhere. In my opinion SOTY shouldn’t just go to whoever skated the biggest shit all year, it should go to who’s been doing the most and who’s been everywhere; Suciu fits more than Milton in my opinion. But I’m also incredibly biased as Suciu is my favorite skater and always has been. Always felt like he’s deserved a SOTY and hopefully this year he pulls it off. But either way it’s all so subjective it doesn’t even matter! THIS PART GOES
Suciu should get it...Milton will get it in years to come but this is sucius year.

His skating is so clean. It’s minimal, precise, thought out to perfection. It’s like if skateboarding was modern art. He is someone who has truly perfected their craft. Love it! 👌🏻
Love how Suciu's parst are like a movie, a true work of art. Seems like the industry has lost sight of putting out good quality parts. Don't get me wrong the talent in unreal now days but just seems like the great video parts are a thing of the past(editing, music, flow)

Darth Maul Vinnie Bahn may be better at gaps, and Nyjah may be better at rails, but SOTY is about the feeling that someone’s skating envokes on the viewers, Mark’s just got that style and the tricks he’s doing, to me, are a perfect balance of skill, style, and creativity

The hubba at 3:03 is 0.5 miles from my apartment at college in Binghamton, New York. I first watched this part while I was in a cafe in downtown Binghamton called Lost Dog cafe, which is 1 or 2 blocks away from this spot.

The musics fit perfectly with his style, the spots are so different and, most of them, really hard to skate, the edition (colors, effects, transitions) fits perfectly with the musics, creating a full kinda wierd and sinister ambient (except for the final part), the tricks he landed are SO HARD, there is a lot of NBDs, etc.
