Albert and Suciu have the best creative partnership in skating today. That line from the courthouse to the Blubba in the Spitfire part? Masterfully filmed. Mark is lucky to have found a filmer/editor who matches him for skill and creativity ❤️

I grew up watching Marc Johnson and have always thought of him as one of the absolute greatest street skaters alive. I see the same talent and trick selection in Suciu. These are the kind of guys that make skateboarding look like ballet, if that makes sense. There is street skating and then there is this.. a performance piece where an urban landscape happens to be the medium. SF is the stage and Suciu is the artist.

Imagine being so good that you can come to a spot with an open mind, imagining "what's the best thing you could do at that spot?"Not the hardest thing, or just the best one of "your" tricks you could do, or the same trick some other guy did but switch or with a different flip, but truly the best, most pleasing thing you can imagine happening accross that space and then believing that you can make it happen, make it real and do it justice. Must be nice to live like that because it's sure nice to watch.

Yeah this level of conciousness makes it an art like dancing. Mark doesnt go for the hardest or biggest shit, but he has such fucking good taste. really has an eye, u dont see that as often as u think

Its truly beautiful being able to witness Mark Suciu in his absolute prime. Making terrifying tricks look smooth and elegant. All the while, keeping an artistic viewpoint as to how the tricks are done. SOTY 2021!
I'm speechless. That was one of the heaviest parts I've ever seen. As a fan of Mark, I knew he was good but I didn't know he was THAT good! This will be a classic that will stand in time. SOTY

That last rail section was so heavy just hammer after hammer it was so much to take in. It was almost too much just figuring out what he is even doing on every trick means re watching most tricks multiple times 🤣 soty.

This is one of the greatest skate parts I’ve ever seen. From the filming, the editing, trick selection, music, artistic shots…fucking incredible! Suciu is a once in a decade type skater

Man Suciu has been killing it this year. This guy is such a unique and productive skater. Give him SOTY, he deserves it.
As I was growing up with Skateboarding, videos were made over years. Anyone remembers the DC video announcement? I think it took them four years from announcement to presentation...BUT Mark Suciu drops out innumerable timeless parts like it's nothing. No promotion, no bragging, nothing but pure and raw streetskating with style and finesse for years...And everytime it makes me happy like a child. Pure fascination...
I grew up skating with Justin (we called him jubert). I remember when he got his first vx1000 and we all were hyped on the little montages he would make. I also remember watching mark as a kid absolutely destroy Sunnyvale skatepark. I am so happy for both of them, they are genuinely great people and have both really come into their own as professionals. The trick selection, song selection, and editing of this video are amazing! Mark deserves skater of the year!!!!!!!!!

I searched my old Facebook posts today. The first one to mention Suciu is from 2009 - a link to the part with the Ghosbusters theme tune (you know the one!). He has been my favourite skater since - as I'm sure for many others. Life, and growing up, has been turbulent, difficult, stressful - one constant has been the skating of Mark Suciu - always an inspiration. A technical god, but gnarly too when he wants to be (don't forget that he varial heeled Love). Every part edited to perfection, whether by Miguel Valle or Justin Albert. The music always on point. What a blessing to have been able to live and skate in the era of Suciu.

After watching this I feel like I can die in peace. The length of this part is equal to most brands' promo videos with 10 skaters these days. Reminds me a bit of Marc Johnson in Fully Flared with the 3 part ender. Exquisite!

Alright Its settled, this is the best video part ever, yes his Verso part is great, but wow the level of skating filming, editing, everything about this part is flawless, people will look back and say this is what sealed the deal for his well deserved Soty honor
The editing, skating and the way this part was pieced together, easily makes it one of the best of all time.
This solidifies it for me. Suciu should get SOTY. Best of his 4 parts. Just incredible skating by this guy. 4 parts in a month! All of them solid. Guy is a beast.
This is a part I'll rewatch with regularity. Can't say the same for Yuto's (even if i did really like it)

Near the end on the handrails i had to keep pausing and rewinding it to visualize these crazy grinds, its just insane what he's doing.

Lol I was just talking to my friends about SOTY picks. This was def my fave of Suciu's parts this year. Really digging the creative trick at 4:11 and the treflip manny at 4:15.
Yuto put out the gnarliest trick this year but Mark definitely put out the best parts and most footage! Give this man Soty already. He’s earned it
Love yuto and his endear was sick, but the video as a whole didn’t do it for me.
Talk about true devotion, Instagram clips after Instagram clips, video part after video part, and this one is one of the best ones yet. Instead of having Mark the grad student we have mark with a PHD in skateboarding out there living up to his fullest potential showing us all what it means to be a dedicated skateboarder, master of his craft, and truly skilled. I truly enjoyed every second of this.
Just imagine what Mark could have achieved with his intelligence, creativity, tenacity, and passion.The scientist with the breakthrough invention, or maybe the startupper who grew the unicorn, or perhaps the poet who set millions of hearts on fire. I am one hundred percent sure that Mark can achieve anything.
But Mark chose skateboarding.
He chose skateboarding to show us how perfect it can be ... perfect from Mark's point of view, of course.
And he showed it in his Verso part. But not everyone could recognize it. Nevertheless this didn't stop him and just imagine how hungry you should be to perform as much as Mark perform during last year!?
Mark Suciu is a soul that burns with skateboarding. This is the art to see spots and choose tricks in the way Mark does.
Thrasher, there are no options. If you don't give him SOTY, it will break the hearts of everyone for whom skateboarding is not just a sport or fashion or hanging out with homies, but for whom it is primarily self-expression of their soul.

for someone who thinks of skateboarding as an „expression of their soul“ you sure do love the trophy a little too much. same goes imo for mark, he could have dropped all those parts throughout the year but he chose to oversatuate everyone during „soty season“. it makes the whole „skateboarding for the love“ story kind of dishonest. dilo is the real soty.

Because after saying “trophy not for the love of skating” you declared dilo should win. So which is it? Nobody should want to win soty because its not core? I‘m saying suciu put out 4 parts starting at the end of october which is when the whole soty discussion starts. If you‘ve been skateboarding for the last couple years you can‘t deny that. dilo on the other hand put out pretty much the same amount of minutes of footage just like suciu (go count it if you don‘t believe me) but he did it throughout the whole year. but people like you think he was „way less“ productive in 2021 then suciu. if you can‘t see suciu‘s marketing campaign behind his goal to get soty I‘m sorry I can‘t help you.

Dude. WHAT?! None of these TRICKS EVEN HAVE ANY NAMES! We can call one "The Suciu Grind", and then another "The Other Suciu Grind", but then what? "The Return of the Suciu Grind"? "The Fellowship of the Suciu Grind"? I had to stop watching to calm down. Also, I want to see Suciu's Spotify year wrap up or whatever. He always has the best songs in his parts. Unbelievable. All due respect to Suciu- I am a fan of his skating and I thought Verso alone made him deserving of SOTY two years ago. I was even disappointed when Milton won it even though I am a gap and handrail and stairs kind of guy (growing up I would buy every Zero video that came out). With that being said, this is the most transparently contrived push for SOTY that skateboarding has ever seen, and it's obvious that he is salty about being passed over although he supposedly "never cared" about the award before (in his own words). I was super stoked when Mark started putting out parts about a month ago, but to say the least, my enthusiasm has waned with each video. My prediction is that there will be a backlash, Suciu will be passed over once again, and at that point we will enter what I refer to as the Punished Suciu Timeline, where Suciu becomes a bearded recluse for around 5 years or so, and then goes on to win SOTY with the most hardcore comeback part skating has ever seen, I'm talking hammer after hammer the likes of which we have never seen from Suciu before.

I agree, with the skating, filming, and the way the whole thing builds to a crescendo, I really think this is the best part ever. I've been going back to it every day since it came out.
The smoothness and the flow he does his lines and how all the tricks go together in way is insane.

20:41 of videoparts in the past month for Suciu, with groundbreaking tricks in basically every type of street terrain. Olympics and probably Trick of the Year for Yuto seems fair, but Mark is SOTY in my mind, especially from Thrasher. Enjoy this shit while it's happening, skateboarding rules.
Thrasher ruined it for Mark when they gave it to Milton, who can jump off a skyscraper yeah, but whose part wasn't Verso's level and whose style is just like a monkey's. They gave it to Milton bc he's crazy and it's easier to enjoy, like comercial music.
Mark deserved it, but now mark's time passed. This is yuto's year. If they give it to Mark they will just be trying to compensate him for his deserved soty 2019.
I mean, suciu did great, but this year (or month) is kinda unnatural, it's too obvious he's crying for soty.

When Mark does handrail stuff its just so much more fun to watch than your run of the mill, dime a dozen skaters. I get big rails are gnarly but i've been seeing the same back crooks front feebles, back smiths, and lipslides for so many years now. And modern pros are still filming basic backside boardslides.. I don't care if the rail goes up flat down or there was a scary gap before the rail. I've seen and done back boardslides since I was 9. Big rails are just boring for me to see in parts these days.

I used to skate with him at the same local skateparks when he was very young and knew Mark Suciu was the next best street skater! Super stoked on all of his amazing skateboarding. He has such a solid and smooth style. Beast!
This is absolutely insane. Mark has literally put out an entire skate video in the last five weeks. With zero throwaway tricks. And so many NBDs with so much imagination, style and great spot selection both new and classic… incredible. The 10 stair rail that he 270 bs lipslides and bs noseblunts towards the end, is on Long Island. I’ve been there and that is WILD. This is absolutely insane.

My jaw was left wide open by the last 2 minutes of absolute handrail destruction. It just kept going and going, each trick just as amazing as the last. Never seen anything like that in my life. Just ONE of those tricks would’ve been incredible. But to have about 30+?! I’ve used the word “unbelievable” before, but this was truly unbelievable. I can’t even process what I’ve just seen.
