It is good that there is very little debris in the river channel. If a 100 year old oak tree got washed out and fell into the river, it would come down like a multi-ton ton battering ram in the zero clearance condition at that bridge. It might even blow over the top of the bridge at whatever speed that water is going. We have seen it all in the past couple of weeks here in VT and NH, city centers, homes, businesses, roads and bridges have been destroyed by heavy rains. Good luck, everyone.
We filmed from Pigeon Forge, near Harpoon Harry's. The Spur got closed off, and we had to go back to Wears Valley. It was crazy weather, I suspected it to be at this level, in Gatlinburg, with over 4.00 inches of rain, falling in such a short time!

We were there during this event. Staying at the Greystone Lodge, the slow running creek off our patio turned into a raging River. It was amazing to watch. Feel terrible for those it personally affected. We were there on vacation from Texas and loved the rain!!
Sorry to see some people going places where the danger is great. Why can’t people just stay home and keep out of trouble. With vehicles going over a bridge that could collapse and then some people would lose their life. Curiosity can take you life/. Stay home.😊

It’s common for that river to run high after rain in the mountains. Residents are used to it. Town and buildings built for it.

Got 3.5 feet in our basement last week. Destroyed roads bridges ect. Stay safe

I was there last week on vacation while that rain was coming in. That area is not equipped to handle rain at all. It didn’t even rain that much.
