Okay complete derail, as someone who loves the horizon series, that game looks like a complete rip off lmao, great video tho was nice jumping back to 2021. (Get that bag not dissing the sponsorship)
@SpazzyjonesGaming Yeah, Bog Witch is really one of impactful updates but it doesnt beat sheer content Hearth and Home, new build peaces, food rework and combat rework, and additional content, correct me if i m wrong :Growths and Frost caves?
I agree, Hearth & Home is my favourite update of them all. Even though it gave me a little pain in the back with rebuilding my kitchen and completely relearning how food is working. And to be honest, a few changes prefer not to have, like a removed ability to cook serpent meat on early game fires.
And a way more climatix I dare to say. Grim and cold and dark it had a way better in fitting the name of Mistlands, the Niflheim from the old viking stories. Modern Mistlands is just a bunch of high and steep rocks covert by some heavy industrial smoke and filled with cockroaches.
Playing Valheim at launch was such a beautiful experience. I remember the Lox meat, Lox Pie and Sausage being the go-to combination of all and Bread was utter useless lol
02:34 "..with realistic weapon design.." >proceeds to swing a hunk of metal 2x his size on a pole, like it's a tennis racket. 😅😂 But I might try it out, since I loved Horizon.
What a great idea for a video, loved being reminded of what it was like at its initial launch and all the changes that have taken place over the years! Good one Spazzy! 😀😀👍👍
thx valheim for alot memory i always play valheim from zero and completed it with my friend every major update :D and still progress on ashland update now ( still on plain cuz wait all player online takes a long time XD )
Whenever there's a new biome released me and the homies would start a new run, had great fun every single time (except for the swamp area ofc), goated survival game imo
Not only fish but the serpent meat as well. That was huge! Wneh you've hunted serpent from a raft with a crude bow and wooden arrows, you know you deserve that meal!
I played at launch then didn't play for years due to changing friend groups, therefore losing my old server. I've loved every second playing it recently!
Crazy when you remember its a small team working on this game and how its one of the best games to be released since the start of the 2020s.You dont need massive studios to make cool stuff
The Valkyrie delivering you into valheim had a model update aswell :) The "Ramp" as you call it in the Black forrest dungeons where never added. There was a change in pathfinding in Unity that allowed monsters to pathfind in steep slopes :/ (it's a known issue)
I did not notice the Valkyrie, ill have to mention it in my follow up video. Oh wow, so its actually not intended for skellies to climb onto the ledge. Very interesting! Appreciate you taking the time to watch my video Smiffe and always, appreciate you and the team for the work that you do! Looking forward to more to come!
I am still upset and angry that all of my saved worlds got deleted somehow. Haven't been back since which is a shame since anything after and including Mistlands, never got explored for me. Same with the Plains.
It's a funny thing to see how you discover the differences I know very well, because I've been there since release day in 2021. I'm curious if you can find anything I don't remember from the game before any updates.
im gona be honest.... i would have never spent a dime on the game knowing how incomplete it was. However , i would gladly buy it for higher price today now that its near complete.
Snapping is in the game at launch, you literally show it happening in the video, the extra options to change how snapping works was not. What are you on, the Troll looks almost identical with some more textures only
I was wondering what's new in valheim, like why I'm not getting snipped from deathquitos anymore, and this video was posted 30 min ago, thank you! Edit: ah, you didn't get to the plains yet
I only covered the first two biomes and considering the bog witch is really swamp focused I decided not to include it. Im going to cover the other 3 biomes in a follow up video
@SpazzyjonesGaming I started a new playthrough after Bog Witch and really noticed a difference. Getting more berries or mushrooms because of the farming skill(picking berries/mushrooms now farming skill), chance of getting double resources cooked or crafted, less stamina used when building(crafting skill) or farming(skill), multiple craft and cook system(x5 craft for everything now just hold shift), and new crafting/cooking stations starting from black forest. And many more new things, Hildir for example
Been playing since day one and I love the game. But the UI needs s serious overhaul. Having the map in one corner, actionbar in another and your health in a third while the stamina is under your character is not very intuitive for todays standard. And that we still, after four years, can't change keybindings for the actionbar is just mindboggling.
@@SpazzyjonesGaming UI's has always been important for me and luckily most games can be modded. I've decided to wait for the full release and mods (I'm looking at you Project AUGA) to be fully working by then. Love Valheim but its not like there is a shortage of games to play in the meantime.
great video and very informative. new valheim player here btw and loving every second of it.. I have a few questions if you can answer me... currently playing valheim alone .. can i clear the bosses on my own or do I need other people? and btw tried joining other servers and they are all with password.. Should I just stay in my world and grind?
Hooo... First Valheim... When food is not confusing... Hearth and home is a good update and also the only patch i dislike... Solely because they change all of the food stats, and made it confusing... At least for me.
@@SpazzyjonesGaming well... It was "foods that give most stats" to "best combination"... Best for fighting boss, best for exploring, best for stay at home farmer... Is it 1 stam 2 health, 2 stam 1 health, 3 stam, or 3 health... It's used to food for fight or food for no fight... Which the no fight one is something that's not expensive, or leftovers from previous biome.
Hasnt fixed the lag, clunky combat, 25 key dodge (should be aa single key to dodge, like every single other game i've played) or weapon selection jank. Dont get me wrong I really like this game but no matter how much I do I wont defend bugs, Jank or a mechanic that could/should be better.
@@CeleWolf Game lags when saving, always, lag shouldnt be an issue on a 1070ti / i5 / 16 gb ram installed on a m.2 but i'll know soon enough if an upgrade helps being black friday i should have 4070ti/amd 7 7000 xd / 32gb ram by the weekend.
@@SpazzyjonesGaming No matter how much I like a game I wont defend jank, bugs or something that could be better, if minecraft can do it Valheim should be able to. Imagine playing a souls game with the "features" of valheim combat. 0.0 better still imagine playing valheim with a souls games combat mechaincs, thatd be so nice to play.
Yeah... melee combat is not in a good spot right now. The slope issue 100% needs to be addressed before 1.0. The weapon switching is also pretty infuriating because it kills all of your character's momentum for some reason, even while running or jumping, which just punishes you super hard for switching weapons mid-fight. It should feel fast and fluid. Go try the instant equip mod by smoothbrain. It's night and day difference and you'll never want to go back once you do. Not being able to direct your attacks towards your mouse mid-swing even a little bit is also pretty dumb and can often lead to you missing and wasting stamina, which is extremely valuable in tough situations where you're being swarmed. Spears are still jank to use and don't have as much range as they should. Sledges are just an aoe cheesing tool right now instead of an actual proper weapon type. The aoe slam should be an alt attack, not the only attack. Tons of weapon gaps in the different tiers for seemingly no reason with some weapon types being completely neglected (e.g. fist weapons and battleaxes). Why no early game 2h swords? Why no early or mid game crossbows or magic options? No plains light armor... seriously, just why?
I dont wana be that guy but i think Fader is a formal word in Swedish for father and pronounced kinda like father but with a D instead of a T. But never the less i loved the nostalgic vid and would love a part 2
