I agree 100% with both you and Obi Wan....balance is the key! I am now 73, still having fun, retired for 9 years. Continue to be pulled at by various people to do stuff...but if I do not judge it fun, it does not fit in my scheme of things to keep my balance just right! HA HA Take care and ....Be Cool!
John Rosier I have a 27 ton champion log spliter I've had it for going on 4 years never had an issue with it. I got mine at Home Depot for about $1,200 you can split with it horizontal or vertical I've had some real gnarly pieces and it's always split it.
Love the q&a!!! Qqq. At what point in time are you going to start letting Little Boss Man start helping in the wood yard? Running and using all the power equipment all with you keeping him as safe as possible. And does he show interest in all your "toys" in the wood yard?
Hey Swifty! Thanks for bringing back the Q&A Videos. They were always my favorites. So QQQ... How many hours per week (on average) do you spend in the woodyard during the season when you aren't heating? How many of those hours are for taking care of the wood stand, bundles etc and how much for your own personal firewood? Take care and ... Be Cool!
I have a Champion 34 Ton that Home Depot put the wrong price tag on (they swapped the display prices on 27ton and 34ton models in front of the store) so they honored the display price. I consider that to be one of my better deals. I saw that mistake and I jumped on it. I wasn't even planning to buy log splitter that day but it was too good to pass up. Hasn't failed to split or crush through anything I put in front of it.
Try to look into a stove loader Senior has senior woodhound has one at his home and I'm telling you it I built 1 and it's wonderful I'm able to put a extremely large log inside my boiler
For people looking at log splitter to start with I have seen some really nice homemade ones that look a lot stronger then one from big box store for around the same price as a big box store one on Facebook market place and on Craigslist
They don’t cut it in half unless you have a hole in the roof conventional. Most are all multipass these days so don’t be disappointed when you only burn 2 cord a year less.
As soon as you say you’re thinking about a splitter, as soon as Andrew hears that, he’ll probably send you one of his, like he did for so many other you tubers.
Hey SHIFTY another great video!! If you hadn't gotten that Japa processor would you have bought one and if so what kind and model? Stay safe my friend 😎😎🔥
Regarding your parents and owb with wood consumption. I bought a crown royal 7300e gasifier last year. This last winter we burned about 7 cord for 2,800 sq' plus domestic. I am also all for if it ain't broke don't fix it though.
Excellent video. I really like the Q&A segments, and your camera work has much-improved over time. Your hobby of firewood has been joined, as you said, by your "creating content" production hobby....not a bad mix, at all. Keep 'em comin', Dan. On questions, do you find that making the "bundle" splits is appreciated by the customers, compared to them buying "commercial-sized" firewood, which they then have to re-split themselves for campfires/firepit, etc.? Another question is how much pine or spruce do you mix in with the hardwoods for the bundles?
Hey Shifty, if you could do it all over again would you have made your woodshed different or what improvements would you do to make it better ( a drive in door maybe)? Thanks Heinzie
Hi Dan….”everything is a possibility.’ Quite a statement! But how about ‘probabilities;’ that’s what your audience is interested in? I believe your considerations with work vs. hobby are worthy, and why impose demands on yourself when you can freewheel and just enjoy the experience of splitting wood…and as you suggest …..YouTubing! I admire your control, and it appears that you priority, with firewood anyway, is ‘living’ rather than ‘working.’ ….in other words practicing what you preach….”Enjoy what you do, and you will never work a day in your life…” So, my friend tell me….where do you see yourself in ten-years time (probably)? Len (Devon 🇬🇧)
Excellent answers! You must have balance. I think you are doing great! Bigger is NOT always better. I really enjoy your videos 😎. You are real and that is rare. Keep it up 👍🏻, thanks for keeping it real.🪓
Great episode Dan!! QQ : Do you plan other episodes of your “beyond the stack with Shifty” format? (and take care of your voice, the video sounded like you are suffering from a cold, but luckily you have an Amazing Nurse by your side) 😀regards to all of you in 🇱🇷from🇧🇪.
Dan you have a future in politics lol. Thanks for answering my question without trashing the worst waste of Star Wars time ever!!!!lol. Never feel the need to respond to my ridiculous questions or comments. Love the concept of these those. Could ask 100 s lol. Yes I was that kid that just ask why why why how come why! Have a great day

Thanks for your honesty
Thanks for answering my question on the splitter. I ended up purchasing one that was comparable to the County Line.
Thanks for answering!!
very entertaining and informative.

I have a Brave 20 ton log splitter. It was my 30th birthday gift. Only cost $2,000
The type of wood you get would be a great candidate for a box wedge.

Great Q & A
Love the qna. Have you thought about adding a regular how I edit and splice series? Loved the one video.
If you had to buy another boiler, would you get a gasification boiler or maybe other options?
Are you ever going to get a real trailer? Like one that might dump.

U can’t post that without a name lol
To answer the boiler issue a high-efficiency boiler, or gasification boiler, uses half or less wood than the traditional boilers like yours.
Yep they claim to cut wood consumption in half...but they also cost twice as much...hahahaha
They don’t cut it in half unless you have a hole in the roof conventional. Most are all multipass these days so don’t be disappointed when you only burn 2 cord a year less.
Are you going to consider Easton Made axis or 12-22
As soon as you say you’re thinking about a splitter, as soon as Andrew hears that, he’ll probably send you one of his, like he did for so many other you tubers.
To answer John Rosier's question. Save your pennies for an Eastonmade Ultra. Hard to beat the cycle time.

Question and Answer video ???? Dan, why do you not have Little Boss Man out Helping you in the woodyard ? 7/5/2022
I ask you the last time you where asking for Questions about 2 weeks ago.
Question. I saw you spreading wood chips in the woodyard. Are you going to gather and remove them or will you leave them to rot?
Hey Shifty, if you could do it all over again would you have made your woodshed different or what improvements would you do to make it better ( a drive in door maybe)?
Thanks
Heinzie

Have you thought about making and selling charcoal?

I have one, I been thinking on doing a wood stand, so I watched your video on it. But how much space in between palettes 16 inch or 18?
To calculate the cubic feet, divide the number of cubic inches by the number of cubic inches in a cubic foot.
How much for your splitter
HI THERE WHY DID YOU PAINT THE WALL PINK ?
LOL....what??? That' not Pink....it's Salmon!
Wait....what wall? hahahahahaha
@@Back40Firewood i knew there was something fishy about you . the other wall ,john
Yeah, those live streams are a mess and get chaotic fast. Better to make a video.
How long did it take for your firewood stand to really start selling after you set it up?
Ours took about 6 months. It keeps growing. Just be consistent and always make sure it’s full!
@@thecoolkids2522 thanks was really excited to see our first bundles sell this last weekend after being up for a month
👍🏼🇺🇸
What age would you allow little boss man to drive the tractor, split wood and run a chainsaw?
