I'm currently building one of these in the Philadelphia area based on this video. Hometown Acres brought me here and now I'm splitting and selling firewood too!! Thank you for this video!
@@Back40Firewood oh man!! Today, I was building in the front of my house and got A LOT of positive responses from people driving by. People slowing down, taking pictures with their cameras! Telling me it looks great and some asking what the structure will be used for. I'm fortunate to live on a traffic friendly street. I'll keep you posted and definitely give you a shout out in the video! This is awesome and I'm excited!!
I like. I see free Pallets in Missoula all time on craigslist. Next time I see a big bunch of freebies, I'll make the drive and get me 10 or more of them.
Thanks, yes it is....and it seems like I've got so much laying around I need to start putting them to use somehow...haha....but then again the scrap piles seem to always get bigger, not smaller...lol
Thanks...yeah not sure how it will go now that Fall is here and once the snow flies...all depends on the weather. Last weekend it was nice and sunny - boom - everyone wants a fire in the back yard....lol
Thanks, yeah I put up a stand last May and never would've guessed it'd be as busy as it was. Has made me know focus more on just recreational burning customers instead of heating customers. Thanks for watching.
Glad to see there is a few of us with the firewood sickness. Lol doctor also told me I have early signs of TMB ( to many birthdays) . Good video take care.
That looks pretty good there and should last you long time,, on your roof you could put 2 by 6 down in middle of roof and if you got tin that last a long time
Thanks...yeah those pallets work great for making the bins to hold the wood. Sometimes last year the only problem I had with the stand was keeping wood in it...lol
This is great! I started 3 weeks ago in a similar way. Tip: throw in 10 peices of 1 inch kindling tied together with twine on top of each stack. The neighbors love it and I'm sure the campers will once things open up eventually. Cheers. Thanks for the video
@@Back40Firewood Yes. Buying firewood from a stand can be intimidating for some people especially if they don't know you. The separated kindling does intrigue people a little more.
Man that’s truly a ultimate firewood stand! Super heavy duty! You could drive a semi over it👍🏻 loved watching you and boss man build it mr back 40. I like how you used the pallets even for creating the dividers. Super firewood rigid. Keep up the great work man👍🏻 I also like your firewood bundle bags! Them are sweet! I have to check that video out.
I’m thinking about selling firewood as well in my neighborhood. I’m not too sure of how much of a demand there is for it though. I may try it and see how it plays out.
Great vids...I get lost in them all the time. I can't find the vid where you had the bright yellow $$$ signs on your roadside set up. My question is are those stickers? I'v gone with painting the price on plywood on the separate bins but it needs a face lift....for a cleaner look. Any help wood be appreciated. Matt in CT
Matthew bourgoin Hey Matt...I actually painter those myself & then put a clear seal on the top of the paint. Only problem is if I ever wanna change my price I have to paint new signs...lol We have a Cricut machine so I used it to make the stencils for painting. Put down base green paint, then when dried painted on letters. The Cricut cuts the stencil with all the letters so you can just lay it over the sign & paint all letters at once. Thanks for watching.
Thanks...I will keep updates going, however we are approaching winter so I think the recreational burning season my slow a bit...we'll see. Thanks for watching.
@@Back40Firewood awesome, thank you. Only reason why I asked was because I'm using random scrap wood from around my property rather than palets so I'll have to MacGuyver it a little bit to make it work but it should come out well
Love your build and the color of the green you used. What specific color was the green paint? I want to build a wood stand for my property. I got a bunch of 2 x 6’s free. A guy was replacing his deck. Thank you.
We sell firewood to a restaurant and a few heating customers in Florida, I love the idea of a roadside stand for anything how has depositing the money gone for you? That has been my concern that theft would be bad.
I had the same concern, but my stand is fairly close to my house and I do have camera system set up and posted on the stand that there is one. I've only had 1 time where a couple of ladies took 4 bundles but only paid for 2...other than that I've been pretty lucking putting my faith in the honesty of others....lol
@@robertswilder That sounds like a great plan. My brother actually converts his ice fishing shack into basically a 'self-serve' farmers market stand during the summer. He has refrigerators inside and just has it open for anyone to come get produce as they want/need it. He also has had good luck with the 'honor system'. Sounds like you'd have a nice variety of things to offer so it should work out well for you. 👍😀

Nice!! 👍 You can also just buy stencil letters and use to paint, but I wasn't able to find any that I thought were large enough to 'see' from the road or people driving by. Having a good contrast of colors will help with that as well...have a letter color on a background color that pops!
@@Back40Firewood That's exactly the reason why I need bigger signs, people can't tell what is in the red bundle bags. I was thinking white background with red letters.
lol..yep, that actually happened on like the 2nd day. I put 2x6s under the legs to distribute the weight more. Good call out tho...thanks for that feedback.
Keep in mind the issues of liability having people buying and loading firewood from your property. In most cases homeowners insurance will not cover you on this because they consider it a business. Would hate to see a guy that is working hard to make a few extra bucks get sued by someone who stubs their toe on your firewood stand.
Yeah, I have thought about that. Most of the time I always load the customers up since I'm usually around. Very much a valid point and concern however. Thanks for the feedback and for watching...hope you're enjoying the channel and the content.

Love your stand, are those 48” x 40” pallets and what is the spacing of the vertical pallets? Thanks
Those pallets are 48" x 45"...the space between each is a little over 16" and then each bin is about 42" tall.

Thanks man...yes, they work for making just about anything....& I've made just about everything with them around the homestead...lol
great idea would you mind if i used your design for this
What spacing or size are your loose stacks?
The stacks are approx 17" wide by 40" high...just the way it worked out with spacing the pallets.
Where did you get the bags? I'm in the process of dropping about 30 Ash trees and live between two camping parks. Thanks for the video!
I have a link to them on this page of my site...

wat is your spacing between the pallets for the loose firewood bins?
Around 18" is what it ended up being...I sort of just equally spaced them out to fit, didn't have a specific size I was trying to make it.

Hi there. I coppied your set up sorta. Check is in the mail.
If the bags are $1 a piece then they are only paying for the bags. They are not paying for all the extra time it takes you to bundle vs loose stack.
