    Wow. Lots of nice comments here but I don’t understand the negative ones. The dog looks adorable and the groomer did a beautiful job. Who’s to say how much hair can be taken off as long as it’s not abusive? (And the shaking is irrelevant. He’s nervous as I would imagine a lot of dogs are when being groomed. He’s not being hurt in any way.) This woman is sharing her process; show some kindness and appreciation or don’t comment.

    Beautiful job, what a sweetheart. We also have a Coton family member. We live in the country where he can get into all kinds of things that tangle his hair. Consequently, we too prefer a shorter cut, and for us, he’s perfect!

    He's so handsome. He looks like a puppy with his new haircut. Adorable. Poor guy was so nervous but happy at the end! Amazes me on how you use the thinning shears. I always learn something. Thank you.

      Hi Jules, I have watched many of her videos which are all good. They are all fairly short and straight to the point, which I really like. I noticed that she uses 2 types of thinning shears, so I read an explanation online about the types available. "Chunkers" with fewer and bigger teeth are for removing a lot of hair with a few cuts. Blenders with more teeth but smaller are for cutting a little hair per cut. As a home groomer for my Shih Tzu, I use blenders, because I go slow, take my time and enjoy bonding with my dogs as I groom.

    It’s a puppy cut but please it is not a Coton cut. Afterwards I could not tell what breed it was. Coton’s have a very specific cut, look it up. Cute dog!

    My country is in lockdown and grooming salons are closed, so I'm going to try and groom my Coton de Tulear tomorrow! 🥵 Thank you for this helpful video... I am so nervous. The poor pup in this video was shaking like a leaf... that's probably going to be me tomorrow 😂 I really hope my baby doesn't start crying because I don't think I'd be able to keep going if he showed signs of distress 🥺🥺

    I bought a 7FC blade hoping to get the uniformly short but still fluffy body look - but at first swipe along upper shoulder it took off way too much - left a very thin layer of fur - I could see my Coton’s pink mottled skin right through it. Had to abandon and go back to 10 blade + 5 comb, which is OK but uneven finish.

    • @lacywynterwertz9066
      @lacywynterwertz9066 4 года назад +5

      Yeah a 7blade is pretty short, if I'm doing an actual cut on the cotons with a blade and not the comb guides I like to use a 4blade,takes good length off but still leaves a good amount of hair , i take the 4 blade through head and a 5 blade on face,help give it that nice rounded look.....also buy some chunkers,there excellent for the face and head

    Grooming doesn’t mean to cut the coat and make different dog out it . Why all these “groomers “ making Coton de Tulear like anything but correct breed. It is so sad . Of course , owners don’t want to learn how to brush their dogs , saying my puppy doesn’t like to have that hair . Terrible.

    I was told not to use a 7 on my Coton because the skin is too sensitive but it looks fine. Does the dog ever get a rash from the blade?

    • @michellefratus6335
      @michellefratus6335 3 года назад +2

      I never like seeing a Coton shaved like this video. Their long hair protects them from the sun and heat in the summer as well as cold in winter.

    • @lizwilliams14
      @lizwilliams14 3 года назад +1

      @@michellefratus6335 yes it’s pretty short. I often use a 7 on my Shihtzu but he has dark skin. I use a 5 on my Coton’s rear end and his belly. He has short legs but he’s only 8 months old. He tends to collect twigs and dirt on his belly like a 4 legged Swiffer. I use the yellow attachment on his body. I think that might be 5/8”.
      The dog looks cute though. Maybe he only goes out in the shade.

  • @jasna11

    It's so sad to see the coton without his beautiful coat. Why do people have cotones if they are lazy to maintain them and then cut them so short? Cotons have very sensitive skin and their hair serves as protection. Protect them from the cold in the winter and from the sun in the summer. Only someone who knows nothing about that breed removes their hair. Sad.

    Why he is shaking

    • @truthseeker6384
      @truthseeker6384 3 года назад +2

      seema G Because he is terrified. They most likely didn't start his grooming when he was young enough. Poor fella, I would just give him a really quick basic cut.....I can't stand to see a pup so stressed out. Anyways, even though he was cute at the end, I thought he was cuter before the cut. He looked more like a teddy bear before.

    • @Seems7729
      @Seems7729 3 года назад

      @@truthseeker6384 ..no I don’t think he is shaking becos he is not used to grooming ..rather he is standing nicely n he is not jumping so he is used to grooming ..may be he is feeling cold or he standing on high table

    • @truthseeker6384
      @truthseeker6384 3 года назад +1

      @@Seems7729 You are right, he is a very well behaved dog, but if he is used to grooming then he should also be used to the high table. Plus dogs don't pant when they are cold. Panting is a sign of fear, stress and anxiety. Of course dogs can also pant when they are hot or excited....but I don't think he is either of those in this situation. He is an adorable little guy, I sure hope he has gotten more comfortable with his grooming as time has gone by.

      @@truthseeker6384 My Coton was groomed regularly and from early in her life and she was always a charm to work with her groomer says. But she is now 16 and things don't go as well as they used too. She shakes and pants just like the dog in this video. I think that every dog is different and even though Cotons are brave dogs, some of them sure are not as secure as others. Not just a matter of not being groomed from an early age.

    this poor baby is scared to death and you are doing nothing to put him at ease. AND sorry, but not a coton cut - I agree with tina... just a 'puppy cut' not a video for anyone looking to learn how to actually groom a Coton - you took away all the charm - and BTW - his shaking is NOT besides the point - if, as a professional groomer, you cannot figure out how to put a dog somewhat at ease - well you'd never get a shot at my Coton!
