Dude! I Took delivery on mine mid February. I already have have over 500 miles on it. I absolutely love it. I tear down the Arizona desert, places that are as rough as it gets. I put it through hell, and it is holding up great. I wasn't so sure in the beginning because it's so big and heavy. It takes time to get used to, but the power is second to none!
Awesome! They are sooo fun!
@@Darkside-qe9jv About 190# and 5"10". speed is not my concern. Yeah, I took it to the limit a few times, but it's torque I'm looking for. Once you figure out the throttle/pedal combination this bike will take you almost anywhere.
@@Darkside-qe9jv This thing will knock your socks off, guaranteed! 🤯
This sold me! I kept looking at vids and trying to decide which bike to get and this review did it. Thank you!!!
Awesome! If you haven't yet pulled the trigger, I'd appreciate it if you could use the link in the description box, it really helps out the channel! Have a great day!
Nice video, look forward to your longer mileage reviews, thanks.
Thank you! Stay tuned!
You are really making some great videos and thank you! I noticed that your bike did not come with a derailer guard but mine did. I picked it up about 30 days ago.
Thank you! I believe they added that to help with shipping protection after mine was already shipped. Thanks for watching!
Love your videos! I live in Montana now but use to live off of Bass Lake Road in El Dorado Hills area. I use to ride my mountain bike on that paved bike trail from
Folsom up around the lake and back down to Sacramento by the American River. Man, you are so lucky to have all those bike trails! I really miss that. Thanks for the tour. Alot has changed since the 70s and 80s!
Thank you! What a small world...I drive by Bass Lake all the time!
Great video. Love my 2024 Wired Freedom.
Thank you. I'm glad you are enjoying the bike, thanks for watching!
My wife and i got ours in Seattle about a month ago. They have been amazing and have gotten us to see areas around us we would have never otherwise explored. Try getting some spider washers to put in the front light bracket, they will bite into the plastic and keep them from rotating. Thanks for the content!
Right on!!!
I ordered mine yesterday! I’m going to go crazy waiting. Thanks for helping me make my decision.
Awesome, you're gonna love it!
You get it yet
Excellent review. Thank you. Man I can’t wait to get mine. I’m ordering one tomorrow. Late May delivery according to the website. It took me forever to decide but I finally settled on the white one.
Awesome!! You're gonna love it! If you wouldn't mind using the link in the description of this video, it really helps out my channel!
Really appreciate your videos. Thank you
You are very welcome!!
Planning on ordering one later this month for daily commute throughout my city to visit friends and family and grocery shopping too, as well as some exploration too of course. Super excited for this one! Thanks for the review!
Awesome!! You're gonna love it! If you wouldn't mind using the link in the description box of this video when you buy it, it really helps out this channel, and I would greatly appreciate it!
New sub, and thanks for the excellent review! I'm looking forward to your 500 - 1000 mile review of the Wired Freedom. Also, your $30 Purple Panda mic sounds great!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
Great Vid! Ordered mine with dual batts 2 days ago. Riding the Erie Canal Trail in Upstate New York, Buffalo to Albany soon as I can.
Nice!!!!!
I've only put 100 miles on my "FREEDOM"... But mods ive made are lowering the gearing, 46 front chain ring, larger granny gear freewheel on back... "Shoot The Chit" has a video on how to do this, it's easy and will turn your Freedom into a hill Climbing Beast! Plus, more ground clearance for front chain ring against roots and rocks. Relaced pedals with FUNN ones off Amazon $100, can clip in with SPD Cleats on one side for full pedal rotation on front crank, smooth power, killer workout when pedaling when clipped in, Platform on the other side for non-clipped in riding. With this gearing can pedal The Beast without pedal assist on, 0 zero for killer workout on the flats.. Also with these pedals, lower profile equals less pedal stroke when cornering. Took off cheesy front/back fenders and rack. Headlight too.. Bought this super cool looking back fender from Amazon, lightweight and flexible, easy on and off... Gorilla Taped taillight to it after much debate as whether to just cut it off.. Added Flat Out to innertubes and changed out grips to more grippy ones.. Bought Fox Dirt Paw Gloves for Moto Comfort and grip.. Car Waxed the framed so mud and dirt don't stick, easy clean up... It's an OFF ROAD BRUTE of a BAD ASSS Machine and I never ride it at 40 mph so lower gearing and more torque are perfect for the hills and trails, fire roads and single track dirt I ride in Livermore Ca, SF East Bay Area!!!!
I LOVE MY FREEDOM!!!! Best $2K i ever spent!!! Awesome content!!! Keep on Riding!!! Looks like Folsom Lake is an awesome place to exercise your FREEDOM!!!! Thank You Mate!!! Awesome Content and info!!! : )
You're dialed!!!! Thanks for sharing all that...I love hearing what other people do to their bike and sounds like you have an epic setup!!
@@leetjohnson It works really well, i'll bet you'd like the lower gearing as the terrain you ride is similar to mine... Don't really lose that much top end either, but it's way easier to pedal or power up steep hills with the modified set up.. I did not have to adjust the derailer or remove chain links either, so it's easy to set it back to Factory Specs if no like! Took it out today after Easter! Have over 100 miles on it as I returned home, total.. : )

Great video my friend. I appreciate your insights
You are very welcome!
I have close to 1000 miles now on mine. Love the bike. Agree with your points but: I absolutely cranked that front light and fender bolt down and it is nice and snug. I never worry about it. I do not think my battery rattles so you may want to look at that housing. If I could change one thing it would be a bigger battery (even though it would add weight) My only complaint is that it DRINKS after it hits about 57 volts. It doesn't take long to get to empty after that. But on rides where I am conserving (very little throttle), I have gotten 55 miles (but that is working a bit) Wide open throttle 20-25 miles.
Thanks for the feedback! I do agree that at pas 5 or throttling after it gets below 57v that it drops quickly. Interesting that your battery doesn't rattle...I'll have to check mine out.
@@leetjohnson btw I have a second battery that I rack and hot-swap. 75 miles on PAS 3 and 4 the other day. So much fun. It does wobble with that weight on the back if you let go of the handlebars, but as long as you hold on you never know it's there.
@@justinwhite2951 That's rad!!
@@justinwhite2951 how are you getting 75 miles? I’m on 1 assist and pedaling. My roads are pretty hilly maybe that’s the difference
I rode 25 miles yesterday, I also checked my battery, and it does not move or rattle one bit... As a matter of fact, I have yet to remove it as it's so secure it won't budge!!! lol..@@leetjohnson
Good video. Great bike. I have a couple hundred on mine too. I will do the rubber washer trick. Thank you for that.
Right on!
I had the old plastic fenders. I took my back one off. Then I sheet metaled the rack. Works great. Also that battery wobble is not normal. Mine is solid. The 2 big gripes I have on my late 2023 model is the squeaky suspension links. Lube does the trick for about 2 weeks. The other is the brake disks. Front one warped. The new ones I seen on citizens site yesterday are going to have 208mm with 4 pistons. Anyways great video.
Right on! I do need to look at the battery wobble for sure. Luckily, my rear suspension is fairly solid. Thanks for watching!!
Hi, thank you for all of the great informative videos! A problem that I have is with the front tire quick release bolt keeps loosening on its own, resulting in really bad tire wobble.
I have had that happen to me before on other ebikes. Give it a good solid clamp, it should take a decent amount of force to get it to clamp down.. not quite as much as the seat post clamp, but more than just an easy clamp.
I fixed my battery rattle issue by adding small pieces of an old rubber bike tube under both the top and bottom plastic mounting pieces. I took them out and placed the rubber around the edges.. This made it fit nice and tight with no more rattle.. I also noticed the top screws were loose.
Interesting, thank you for sharing this. I'll take a look at my top screws too!
I purchased the Cruiser. I'm very happy with it. I would recommend if you're a smaller person or older, this is a big heavy bike and you will be happier with the cruiser.
Good advice!!
It's funny, because on my old ebike, I took the fenders off because I thought they were ugly, especially with the metal wires, but on the Freedom, they are so sexy! Shorter fenders, on no ugly metal wires! I prefer the look with fenders.
Right on! These definitely are good-looking fenders compared to many others out there.
Hi! I am from NJ and I ride my ebike to and from work and also we have a small bike trail that's roughly 2 miles long that I like to ride on when I have off from work. right now, it is a beautiful day at 56 degrees we will hit 80 later this afternoon and I will take my ebike out for a ride then. The ebike I have is a Vivi 21 speed ebike. I have had the ebike for almost 3 years now with no issues at all except for changing the brake pads as they wore out and i also use Flatout so I don't get much flat tires anymore.
That is so awesome, thank you for sharing! Enjoy your ride later!!!
This is a very well done video, one of the best I've seen on the subject. You earned a Like and a Subscribe!
I have the 2024 Freedom and I am now totally sold on the No Fender look. Do you have any tips or feedback to anyone who wants to remove them both?
Also, do you think any upgrade to the brakes such as 4 pots (like Magura MT5) or larger rotors is warranted?
Thanks again for great video.
Thank you so much! Removing the fenders is fairly easy. If you decide to remove the rear rack, you will need to relocate the rear brake light. I wouldn't say the brakes need to be upgraded unless you plan to do some heavy downhill riding.
@@leetjohnson Thank you! Quick question, did you need to remove the rear wheel to remove the fender screw closer to the front of the bike? There is so little clearance there I am struggling to remove it.
@@CallMeHarris I did remove the rear wheel. I suppose you could deflate the tube/tire as well, but taking off the wheel makes it a breeze.
I’m tired of my jetson, always w/my frenchie riding, now going to put a box..I ordered this bike in the very beginning of February in Hunter green, the only bike saying going to be delivered mid April which I was so excited because it’s my birthday..then I here it’s late May now!!! I just want my bike!!! In frisco
Lol. Time traveling much?
You'll be stoked when it arrives!
Already over 500 on mine and ive hit some very big potholes and it handles them like they are nothing. Havent come across a hill i havent been able to climb yet.
Awesome!!
new to the E bike world. Can you explain the pedal assist process. Great video Im sold.
Welcome! The pedal assist is really easy...most ebikes have pedal assist (motor helps when you pedal) that goes from level 0 (no motor assistance/power) to level 5 (highest level of assistance/power) from the motor. Level 1 is the minimum output of the motor (usually about 10mph while pedaling lightly)...then level 2 is a little more power, 3 is even more, etc.
That rattling battery is not normal. It should be tight and snug. Mine has zero movement at all and I've not read that anyone else has a rattle in the FB groups. May want to give Steve at Wired a call.
Maybe put a tiny piece of window insulation from Home Depot should snug it up?
Interesting, thanks for the heads up!
the track is just beatiful. i wish i lived in the US
Thank you, maybe one day you will!!
@@leetjohnson may I ask you, where is it?
@Merceralex77 this is in Northern California, at Folsom Lake.
@@leetjohnson thank you mate. Have a good one
Sounds like some some 160 mm crankset would solve some problems. Cool bike. I want one
It's a blast!
I wonder if adding one or two layers of good tape inside the frame making it unseen would tighten up the battery fit some and also help deaden any bad sounds
That's a great idea!
Alien tape is a good product for that
Great review and very interested in buying one as my 1st e-Bike. Just a few questions to help me buy or not.
Can the Throttle be tuned Off...in case I let others test it but not comfortable using throttle...and if so, does it allow Pedal-Assist?
How easy to ride without Pedal-Assist...in case out riding and something goes wrong with Batt/Motor/Controls?
Thanks in advance.
Yes, the throttle can be turned off in the settings while keeping the pedal assist on. You can pedal the bike without any power, but the up hill parts will be very slow without any power....but it is doable for sure, if necessary.
If you do decide to buy one, I'd really appreciate it if you used the link in the description box, it really helps out this channel!
I had metal fenders on my first fat tire folder. The rattling would drive me crazy. I don't put them on when i get a new ebike. The squeaking is dust and dirt. I ride wilderness desert trails daily. Just wipe them off.
100%!!
@@leetjohnson I got my first ebike soon after my dog running partner died. I'm riding for us, until the end. Here at 3500 feet we have constant high winds in NW Arizona. Now 2 years later I just ordered another new one. I daily pedal for 9 months until next winter. Ebikes change lives for the good. Ride xsafe!
Very awesome detail review.
Thanks 👍
You are welcome!!
I am definitely curious about your opinion about adding AWD conversion kit to the Wired Freedom.
For me, I don't think it's necessary but would be awesome to have! More battery drain, so you would need a second battery, so a lot more total weight too.
I was wondering why your bike looked more naked than the images I usually would see! You DID take off the fenders! lol.
I sure did!!
I love everything about this bike EXCEPT the chain drive and gears. Is it possiable to get it with gates belt drive?and only one gear??
I don't think it is an option from Wired directly, but I'm sure it could be converted without too much hassle.
Bang for the buck.
100%!!
My Wired Freedom had no issues that you are describing. I wonder why yours did? Battery is fine, not loose. Fenders never rattled once, the light mount was fine once I tightened it, the left side crank never gets loose on me either. Weird. My 2024 Freedom came in great shape, very tight and well built. Maybe you got some kind of used one or the quality control is inconsistent?
Everyone always seems to have different issues. How many miles do you have on yours? Many of these took about 50 to 100 miles to show up.
you ever look for arrowheads there? looks like a good spot
I haven't!
I have a 24 unlocked. Getting only about 34 miles on assist #1 on the road with lots of pedaling and throttle at times. 185 lb. With 25 lb air. Let me know what you think???
That's really strange. Do you ride in really cold weather? Do you charge the battery until the charger light goes from red to green? Maybe your brake pads are rubbing? I'd be interested to know if it's any of these things or something else. How far can you go on PAS 5 and heavy throttling?
Cold around 40-45deg in the morning going into work 14 miles. I’m pretty sure Citizen Cycle is getting about the same. Maybe I should call the factory?
Wouldn't hurt to ask them
Hey, I’m in South Sacramento. I have Aventon ebike and go biking downtown sac and bike trail but I haven’t gone to Folsom bike trail. I’m thinking to upgrade to Wired freedom soon….. we should connect and go biking…..
Send me an email when you ride, if you come up to Folsom!
Also, if you do pull the trigger on a Wored Freedom, I'd really appreciate it if you used the link in this video, it really helps our the channel! See you around sometime!
How's this work for a 285lb guy? I'm thinking about an Aventon. The weight capacity of the Wired is only 330lb. The power is far superior to Abenture.
Number 1 thing is a front light that’s actually functional/mountable
I don't do much night riding, but it is an important feature for sure!
Would like to see an option for road tires.
I had Origin8 Super Cells on my other fat tire ebikes and loved them. No road noise, far less rolling resistance and cornered like a racecar.
Yes. Need to look like you're on a real bike as much as possible. I can't say I wouldn't enjoy a Roadrunner Pro or something to go to work on . Lol Love my Kepler as a main ride to use for most purposes.
For sure!!
When would you recommend servicing and putting new grease in the rear hub?
To be honest, I've owned many ebikes and never had to service the hub motor...even after 1,000s of miles. One bike had 5,000+ miles on it and sounded and worked like it did when it was new.
Reno and I have 2024 blue wired freedom
Awesome!! Thanks for sharing!
in 40 years of building and racing bikes I've NEVER had a crank bolt come undone. Should never happen
Congratulations
HAYWARD, CA HOVCO HOVALPHA. Thinking about wired, or one of the other 40 mph ebikes
Right on!
The bike you have will be UPGRADED big time in June 2024 for the same price...
Correct!! Dual batteries, 3,200 watts, 45amp controller, new display, thru axle up front!
What range are you getting off a battery charge
I have 3 different range test videos, at Pedal Assist 1, Pedal Assist 3 and Pedal Assist 5/throttle full speed. Respectively, I got 72 miles for PAS 1, 39 miles for PAS 3, and 29 miles for PAS 5.
My 23 model has 2200 miles .
Impressive!!
my only beef is that the shimano derailer makes my chain fall off when i hit a series of bumps
Yeah, it's definitely not the best.
how fast and how far and how much please
40mph, up to 30 miles at full throttle (225lbs) and up to 70 miles at pedal assist 1. $1,999 plus tax and shipping. Check out the link in this video, it will take you right to the website!
I’m at almost 300 on mine, I love it, barely drive anymore
That's so awesome! What color did you get??
@@leetjohnson blue, it’s the best purchase I’ve made
@@Jacksonzole57 👍
So, can I go 4 miles on throttle alone? Or must I pedal all the way?
Absolutely. As long as you don't encounter any really steep hills. Regular hills won't be an issue. You can throttle as long as you want, no issues.
Does the brake light work if the headlight is not on? Haven't ridden mine yet. Thanks in advance
It sure does!!!
I received my 2024 in January. It's been sitting in my living room since then. I've assembled it but have never ridden an E bike.

You do a Great Job with Your Videos and I see You as a Very Classy Guy.
Order an E-Cell’s 5 Star and do a Review on Their Bike. I would be interested in what You have to say.
First, let’s compare Warrantees of both companies.
Wired Freedom= Only One Year Warrantee.
E-Cell’s 5 Star:
Frame=Lifetime Warrantee.
Motor and Battery= 2 Year Warranty.
5 Stars Other Components= One Year Warrantee.
Plus, E-Cell 5 Star does Not Charge Shipping, Insurance, or Tax. About a $400 Savings.
Money you can put into Up Grading Features on Your New 5 Star.
Wired Freedom does Not offer Up Grades.
Facts, Not Emotion.

Does anybody hear a rubbing noise from the motor while peddling going from pas2 to pas3? Rubs in 4 and 5 also....Does not rub while using the throttle only or in pas 1.....Going from pas3 to 2 it goes away.....Its like i can turn it on and off.......Almost 200 miles...LOVE the bike!!!
That is strange, I haven't noticed that on mine.
Could possibly need a brake caliper ajustment
@mikebordeaux8218 only happens while peddling in pas 3,4,5. Doesn't happen when using throttle only or gliding...I don't have any of the problems you pointed out
I was really surprised to hear this since I am having the exact same problem. I am planning on calling the factory about it but have just been super busy with work stuff. Don't you guys hate it when work stuff gets in the way of having fun? I'm hoping that the factory doesn't tell me it's normal to get some noise from the motor but they just may. My other mid drive makes different kinds of sounds, so maybe every bike has a unique signature sound to it, not sure. I thought I read another comment where some of the early batches of motors had magnets falling off but I could be wrong. Please let me know where you go with this and I will try to do the same. Just got my 24 in March so I've only had it about a month, probably four rides in with around 150 miles. Got the Titian orange, beautiful beast!
@jameygray Talked with Dan today and sent them a video, which you can clearly hear the noise. I should hear back from him soon and I'll let you know what they offer for a solution...Dan should know the bike better than anybody. It's sad because I won't use the bike in pas3,4 or 5 because the noise is annoying.
I never take an ebike out without tannis inserts !
Good call!!
Does the tannus liners change the feel of the ride much?
I disagree with you on a couple comments you made about the Wired Freedom in your 200 mile review. Yes it has its issues and I see your points but it seems like nit-picking to me. This is not a Rolls Royce and the fenders make the bike classy and respectable. The way the bike is set up it’s a commuter not a part time dirt bike. I love everything about this bike and still plan to purchase one this summer if the Cicada bug problem doesn’t last too long here in the Midwest this year. You complained about the rear rack and chain ring the front and rear suspension pedal strikes and other things. I think you bought the wrong bike. You need a bike designed for how you ride and the terrain you ride on, rough and rugged. On the flip side, the pros of this bike are what I like to concentrate on and that is the power in all areas and the upgrades from the previous 2023 model. The upgrades are considerable has made my decision to buy an easy choice. I currently ride an AR Kepler by Ariel Rider ebikes and it’s a nice ride, basically about the same price as the Freedom but it’s a hard tail that does about 35 mph on a full charge. So the Wired Freedom would be an upgrade for me. I respect your opinion though.
I agree with what you are saying. Just remember that I gave it a 9/10 and specifically mentioned that these are small items, that most ebikes have to some degree. If I didn't mention them, people would say I'm not being fair or honest if there were zero complaints. It's a great bike and not perfect for my application, but it is excellent overall.
I agree and was going to add....As far as the battery movement I would just put one or 2 tie wraps around it. Also the loose bolts just put a little locktite on them. The low pedal thing is not good, imagine if your scrambling and made a real tight turn you could literally get thrown off the bike. Narrator was nice to bring this stuff up. Personally though I like the looks with the fenders on better.
It's the perfect bike for his uses. I use mine in much tougher off road places. I did not see him complaining about the rack, he was actually stating how strong and useful it is. Come back and watch this video after you receive your wired Freedom and put a hundred or more miles on it and I think you will agree 100% with his video. It is a great bike, you will enjoy it
I’d get the ecells five star instead.
@ryandrummond8163
You were right about some buyers wanting the Wired Freedom for commuting purposes. It's been a great bike, and people have been coming up to ask about the bike.
I'm very satisfied. It's exactly what I want, and need.
Good, fair price compared to the bikes I looked at that could hit 35+ mph. They were much more.
I found a very similar bike on the Ecells web site. It's the E-CELLS FIVE STAR E-BIKE™ 1500w 60v 20AH. Price is $1995, but there is no $250 shipping charge or shipping insurance, and NO tax. $485 savings for a nearly identical bike. Same Hentach motor and display. It's a 60 volts system with an 20AH battery. I would like to see you do a review of this bicycle if you can get your hand on one. I like the longer rear fender on the Ecells version and I think the gel infused controller is better cooled by ambient air. Check it out and let us know what you think.
I've seen it, but heard it isn't actually available yet.
Yes, I was just looking at the Ecells. It might have a slightly less powerful motor, but otherwise looks great - 4-piston brakes and 203mm discs! I’d sure like to see some reviews and customer service experiences.
My battery doesn’t move
That's what I am hearing...might need to look a little closer at mine.
Can you do me a favor and make a five minute video or three minute video on programming a passcode? If you keep these up, then I don’t have to start making videos.
Sure, I can do that!
this bike is going for 2k, a bit too expensive for me
It is expensive....I have some videos of cheaper bikes on my channel if you're interested in checking them out.

I'm working on a promo code right now, but I only have a link to the website in the description at the moment.
