You’re such a beautiful young lady. I first tasted gula melaka when I visited Malaysia many many years ago. Haven’t made it in recent years but now I have your recipe; I will. Thank you.
Can't wait to try it ... I've remembered this dessert for 70 years since it was my favorite when we lived in Singapore!! So excited to have found it ...
Loved it we in south India prepare the same recepie but we first cook the sago and then add alll the ingredients together and finally we add cardamom and some cashewnuts and rasinis fried in clarified butter
Hmmmm...i had tried this dessert and it came out well....just my sago burn a little because of the amount of water that i used was less but then i asked my mother's help to cook the sago....and the gula melaka covered the taste and smell of the sago.....1 question...the sago supposed to be sticky after it is cooked, right???
Hello, tried your terigu last weekend for 2 groups of guests. It was awesome tasting!! LOVE IT! Will make it often for sure! Thank you. Do you have recipe to make Sago Honeydew dessert?! 🙏
I love sago I will be making this, anyway I have a request Grace. A few years ago I went to Malaysia and I had this rice dessert almost like a rice soup but it is sweet with coconut milk. Idk what it's called but it sure made me cry because it reminded me of the dessert my grandma used to make when I was little
I tried using Pandan Sago instead. It came in a bag. I wanted to do more so i dumped the whole bag into the pot. Omg it was super starchy like old styled glue. Had to wash off the starch a bit at a time and so far it looked the same as how yours turned out. Now waiting for the results from the fridge. Will post pix of it soon :)
I have pandan sago too! Also another pack of sago in pink :P Haha I can imagine how starchy it was. I guess you must have already enjoyed your sago pudding now! Send me a pict on fb or g+!!
Thanks for sharing this recipe...I already tried the recipe...wow great recipe for tea break. I used pandan sago and evaporated milk instead...turns out delicious...thumps up ♥♥♥
Hi there nice instructive video - but, having have to chill the sago for 2 hours is bit too long for a instant dessert - does cooling it in freezer faster ? And have a similar result ?
My favourite dish when my mother cooked. I am now 62 years old, and I am going to try it on my children and grandchildren. But what can I substitute for Pandan leaf. ❤️
I took a break from studying for exams, and suddenly thought of this dish. Your recipe looks so good, can't wait to try it! But first, back to studies! :P
Hai sis.. i m shalini from malaysia too. i have tried this recipe. it comes out very well, but i go through 1 trouble in making the gula melaka. Once i cold down the gula melaka, it become thick again. Is there any other way to make sure it never happen in the future?
May i know are you from Malacca? I am Malaccan too!~~ When i saw this video i found out my house have a perfect gula melaka i had bought last week. May i know what is 4T Sago? May i know how many gram to use in this video to make 4 pudding? thanks :)
Interesting..i made this many times but I always boil coconut milk with pandan leaves and not gula Melaka but I guess it doesn't matter..but best gula Melaka is definitely from Malacca hahaha(duh moment)..I fine the ones sold in Singapore is not as fragrant as the Malacca ones.
Tapioca pearls, you can find them in a couple different sizes. Small for pudding, a medium size my grandpa used in a candy, and then the bubble tea pearls.
Nvm I made this all on stove top in it was delicious and made this recipe but made five times more cause I had a party and they were amazing!!!!!! Expect I put more than 5 times the amount of water for the gula Melaka( I don't know what I was thinking) so I just boiled it until it evaporated and they were delicious. The coconut milk gave it a not so plain taste and the gula Melaka made it sweet and yummy! Will definitely make this again
I don’t know if there is a substitute. According to this, you can use pandan essence www.nyonyacooking.com/ingredients/pandan-leaves~BJF-IPsDMqZQ why don’t you ask our community or cook directly on the website. - Admin
one more question, is it the pudding is hot / cold? The pudding take from fridge will be cold, but the coconut milk n gula melaka will be hot right? or after pour gula melaka and coconut milk should it be fridge again?
Nice video! I think it would be more practical to leave sago pudding in the ball and pour coconut milk and gulam malaka over it. This way you can easily eat it with spoon not wasting any sauce.

"prettycraftygirl" does it taste like wheat ? there's a sweet porridge we call it bubur gandum and it taste similar to rice with coconut milk.
Yes and it has a hint of pandan too.
"prettycraftygirl" We use pandan in most of our desert for fragrance.
"prettycraftygirl" *dessert
If it's dark in color maybe it's black glutinous rice soup
OMG nyonya cooking. I love sago pudding. so yummy
Done this many times, comes our perfect. May I recommend flavoring the sago with pandan juice or coloring. Then it will green, white and brown.

its a lovely pudding. thank you.
Tried it! Amazing. I want to make some tweaking. May I mix the sago with mango puree and make a pudding?
That will be interesting. Not sure if the pudding can hold the shape. We would suggest to use the mango puree as the sauce instead :)
My favourite dish when my mother cooked. I am now 62 years old, and I am going to try it on my children and grandchildren. But what can I substitute for Pandan leaf. ❤️
