Just watched latest video of the Last Homely House. Kate had a link to this video as I really enjoyed seeing how a “facing” type binding looks when completed! Thank you for sharing your technique!
The last homely house told me about this , and I’m sooooo happy to learn about it! Thank you so much! I have a quilt I didn’t want to bind traditionally and this is the perfect solution!! Thank you very much for making my day!!!!&
Hi Joe! Kate from the Last Homey House suggested your video. SO here I am. I love the look of this binding. Not complicated at all. Straight forward. Going to see what other tips you have. Thank you.
I just listened about a few minutes The Last Homely House and heard about your binding method. I am glad to learn it. Thank you for sharing your method!
Guess what. I too have just watched Kate on the Last homely house and am thrilled to see your quilt finishing. I did this on my first ever quilt (baby size) and thought I hadn't done it correctly, so it's still in my UFO pile, as I couldn't face undoing it. I'm now determined to go back to it and finish it. Fortunately, another of my niece's is having a baby shortly...... 😅😅Kind regards from England, Jackie M😊
Love this Joe! You're the best. You make it short, sweet and to the point. Brilliant! I so appreciate you sharing this method! I'm off to do it right now. Thanks so much.
Just watched Nov 2023 - Great video Joe, many thanks - this looks a great technique. I've seen some that use a triangle at the corners, which is nice, but I think I prefer this one. Greetings from North Wales UK. 🙋♂🙋♂😊😊
Just negotiating a teaching gig in Northumberland for next October. I can’t wait to see that part of the world and I hope to make time to see the Welsh Quilt Center.
I too, just found you through Kate! Joe, will you show us more of your quilts? I really like the one in this video but didn’t see enough of it. Thanks!
Very nice to know! I will have to remember to do it this way next time! I'm like an old jersey milk cow headed to the barn when I get to that point... Lol. I think in kids quilts I'll always do it traditional way because those edges get the most wear. Thanks
I love this idea going to try it soon when i finish one of my UFO's in a few days actually cheers. Oh I've been following you for years on HGTV and a few other place on TV quilting shows. Thank you for your time.
Do you tuck 1/4 inch under and press before hand sewing or it would be a raw edge, right? I saw a quilter over cast stitch and no binding. That is another option.
Great demo! Very clear. I have a related question however. I'm about to finish up a 24 by 30" art quilt and use facings for the first time. I also will be putting a 4" hanging sleeve on the back. I'm thinking that might look wonky if the facing underneath is only 2". Then I thought - why not make the top facing wider but leave the other three at 2 ". Or?

Very clear and concise, thank you Joe! I’m gonna give this a try!

Seems we have all come from Kate's fork in the road to you! I love facings too. I have a feeling you are coming to New Zealand to teach this year??

I like it! Not every quilt or wall hanging I make needs binding. I am going to try it. And... well, does your wife quilt? Thanks Joe!
😂
you could even do it the opposite way and then your facing would make a cute border on the front. genius.
LOVE that idea. Giving that a try on my next project.
I do this, I learned it from you. Thank you.

@@donnarichey144 the raw edges are covered just as they would be with a binding
That's great Jo, thanks for sharing!
