Its my birthday!!! I'm spending it quilting, of course!! If you want to celebrate with me, subscribing to my channel and liking this video is the biggest gift I could ever ask for! It helps youtube know that people like my videos so they should suggest them to more people. Its totally free for you but means the world to me :)
Happy Birthday! I hope you have a wonderful day. And thank you once again for the joy you bring us with your delightful videos and charming personality.
I don’t know how I missed this video when it first came out; I’ve been enjoying your tutorials for a long time. This is great, though. I already have a quilt where this method will be perfect. Thanks.
Just the video I was looking for. I was wondering how to make a nice clean binding using the material I made my quilt from. This is exactly what I needed. Thanks very much.
I absolutely love this method. As a garment sewist under-stitching is something we do all the time so this technique really resonates with me. Thank you! 🌵❤️🇺🇸
Happy Birthday! The only thing I'd have done differently is to make the last two strips look like a "fake" miter, folding them at a 45º angle and tucking the edge under so it looks like a mitered the facing. I find it funny that a "Facing" isn't seen on the face of the quilt!
Wonderful video! I love your voice & pleasant teaching manner without all the unnecessary chit chat. Thank you for teaching how to do such a simple facing. Going to use it for an art quilt I am working on where a binding wouldn’t look right.
I know this is an older video but I have to say it's one of the best I've seen on facing. I just am finishing my first one and thank you for the clarity and step by step instructions. I was wondering what color Aurifil green thread you are using? I absolutely love it and would love to do some quilting with it.
It’s my birthday too! And spending part of it learning a new facing technique was fun! Thank you for yet another excellent tutorial ! Happy birthday us 🥳
I love how you teach! I also super loved the front of your mini. Any chance you could share how that was done, or direct us to a pattern so your fans can replicate the fantastically dramatic star too?
Happy birthday! That's such a neat way to finish a quilt! I will try it for sure! Do you a video on how to make the quilt you are facing in this video? I would love to see that! :)
My question concerns using this method for quilts that will be hung on the wall. Do you add a separate sleeve for the dowel to run through or do you use the edge folded under and left open so that that side can be a dual purpose facing and hanging sleeve? I haven't seen anyone address this question so far and I have a 39" almost square wall hanging ready for quilting that is modern so perfect for this treatment. Any advice appreciated.
Regarding the mini quilt you are facing, have you made a video or published a pattern for it? It’s quite interesting, and I’d love to try that technique for my son who is a sci-fi fan.
Have you ever put a sleeve in the back of the no bindig edge? i wondred if before you hem down the top binding one could stitch the top of a sleeve, turn it back away to handstitch the bottom of the top binding edge. This would allow the top of the sleeve to be stitched rather than handstitch the sleeve there but finish bottom by hand. Jean Pittman

Thanks so much for this video. I rewatch it every time I do a facing. You've made this step very easy to understand!!!!
Happy Birthday!! Great tutorial!!

You are a natural teacher. Best facing video I have seen. Thank you.

First of all, I love that it is a single fold, second and the best is not having to poke out those corners. I will be trying this one tomorrow.
This is the best method by far that I have tried till now! Thank you very much for sharing. I love your tutorials. Please carry on teaching. 👍
I'm using your instructions right now for a table runner. It is turning out great.
Thank you for the tutorial ! When do you add the hanging sleeve?
Happy Birthday 🎂. Understandable you're quilting. Great video 🙏
Thank you! I have a quilt that I want to finish this way and you explained it simply yet precisely. Fingers crossed!
Excellent tutorial! Thank you so much!
Happy Birthday! Thank you for sharing your expertise! That is the best explanation for the hand sewing part. Thank you! Thank you!
I really like this method of binding. It so simple. I can’t wait to try it! Thanks.

Happy Birthday! You explained the facing very well. Thank you.
I did enjoy this video. Thank you.
Love that star pattern!
Happy Birthday!! It’s my cousins birthday today and mine is on Friday! So happiest wishes to you on your special day!
Happy Birthday! When I have done facings I cut those last two sides down to 1/2 inch on each end. Makes tucking them in easier and a less bulky area.
Happy birthday! Thanks for the facing tutorial. I have yet to try a facing, but I know I’ll need it sometime.
Happy birthday, have a great day. Thanks for a very informative video.
It’s my birthday too! And spending part of it learning a new facing technique was fun! Thank you for yet another excellent tutorial ! Happy birthday us 🥳
Happy birthday!!!!!!! 🎉
Happy Birthday Cathy .
What a good idea for wall hangings and art quilts!
Happy Birthday. I would probably trim the corners to cut down a little on the bulk. But I haven't tried this method yet, will definitely have to
Happy birthday!!! You made this look so easy! Thanks again for another great teaching video! 🎂🎁🎉
I like this edge I haven't seen it before it it is beautiful.
Such an interesting way to finish. Happy Birthday!! 💜💜
Happy Birthday! Great idea to add to the binding idea “tool box”.
Happy Birthday! Such a beautiful finish for an art quilt! Thanks for sharing your expertise!!
Happy Birthday! Enjoyed your video. But then, I always do!!
Happy birthday! Love you videos!🇨🇦

Happy birthday Megan! I would consider this for table runners maybe. Thanks!
Thankyou very clever, & very neat
Happy Birthday! Mine is tomorrow.
Happy Birthday! 😊🥳
Thank you this was great
I just heard about this find of facing. So was very interested in how it was done. Thank you
Happy Birthday 🎂
Happy birthday, have a great time. 💖💖💖
Love this! Thank you for sharing this technique.
Enjoy your channel, very informative, hope you have a good Birthday!

That is areallly unique top. Is thee a pattern I could follow of buy?
Thank you so much.
My hands can’t hand stitch anymore, but I like this idea
TU! Haven't tried this...yet...I take it facing doesn't show on the front?
How do you add a sleeve in the back to put a rod through for hanging with a quilt facing?
Thank you
How do you hang this after the facing is done?
Regarding the mini quilt you are facing, have you made a video or published a pattern for it? It’s quite interesting, and I’d love to try that technique for my son who is a sci-fi fan.
And Happy Birthday! I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy viewing one of your videos (which is “quite a lot”)!
I haven’t! It was an experiment in mitered joins on tiny stripes. I could do a video on these little improv tiny stripes and use this idea though :)
Happy Birthday 🎉
if you're using a 1/4" for facing, how far apart are your stitches when you bind a quilt?
Have you ever put a sleeve in the back of the no bindig edge? i wondred if before you hem down the top binding one could stitch the top of a sleeve, turn it back away to handstitch the bottom of the top binding edge. I hate hand stitching, is it Ok to machine stitch it?
Belated Happy Birthday,
🥰
