Fantastic quilt, I been sewing at the age of 8. My mom taught me and I been quilting for over 20, and use to make my wife's clothes. Thanks for sharing 😊
Popping over from Kate at The Last Homely House. Ive been quilting for decades, and can’t believe I’ve never seen the facing technique. I think I’m going to give it a try on my next one. Thank you for sharing your tutorial/technique.
7:56 What a wonderful finish. I have just completed a hexagon English paper piece quilt and was struggling with how to complete the edges as I didn’t want to compromise the pattern. I will use the facing technique which you demonstrated beautifully.
Fantastic! Today I am going to try this method on two doll quilts for my granddaughter's. I've been wanting to try this. Thanks Joe! Happy stitching, Susy from San Diego.
Thanks for this demonstration. I'm new to quilting and have only used binding so appreciate this. Is there a video about the sleeve that you do and how you hang so flatly to the wall?
I love facing as a technique, but isn't it like borders, opposite sides should measure the same, and be pinned such that the ends are pinned first then the middle, with everything in between eased? To prevent rippling.
Came from Kate’s recommendation. I like your facing technique.
I remember Joe from Kate talking to him at the quilt show. Thank you for this facing tutorial.
Facing, rather than binding really makes these art quilts! What a great idea. Thank you for sharing your technique and your magnificent quilt.

I came on Kate’s recommendation but I also own one of your Craftsy classes Joe. 😁 I’m glad I found you on RUclips.
Found you through Kate at the Last Homely House😁
Me as well this morning.
Often wondered about how facings were put on 🤔 Love the clean lines it creates on your wonderful quilts 😃 Great explanation Joe 👏👏🇬🇧

Dude…. I’ve been looking for new binding/edge work ideas. You never disappoint. Thanks for the inspiration.!
Came over from Kate’s love the binding. Your quilts are a work of art.
Love your quilt, Joe! I like using a binding on the back only, it gives the quilt a clean and modern vibe.
I like this very much. Also your quilts are just amazing
It's nice to 'come by', thanks
TFS, I will have to try this on one of my quilts.
This is an awesome quilt. Great work of art.
Like your guitar keeping you company.

Thank you. I wanted to learn this technique, and you have taught me well.
Recommended by Kate at The Last Homely House. Useful technique!

I'll have to give this a go! Looks better than the facing with triangles in the corner on the backside.
I was going to add that comment myself. The extra corner piece always seemed to add bulk that didn't add to the look of the quilt in MHO.
Kate was right this is very coo!
Joe, love your quilt. I have a quilt in progress and am going to try your method. Thank you!
Beautiful!
Great tutorial, love this idea!
Thanks Joe 🙏🏼
Just beautiful! Love your work💕🌸
Fabulous Art pieces thank you for all you do!
Thank you ❤
Thank you for sharing, love it!
Another fascinating quilt! The only similarity yours have with mine is the facing; I use a similar method. 😉🙃😄
❤ I really like it! ❤
thank you.
Did you do the same thing to each corner by not sewing all the way to the end. Thank you.
Yep

How do you hang your quilts with no visible hardware? Is a sleeve necessary with smaller pieces? Thank you for your contemporary inspiration!
I make the sleeve 1” short of each side so the hanging rod can hide.
Joe, what batting do you use?
Quilters Select Wool batting

Excellent observation. Yes, that is how to do it correctly.
Thank you! Joe - do you hand quilt your quilts or long arm?
Both. This one was quilted on the longarm
love the quilt I have a question did you bass you name on old Joe the quilter from Northumberland England
Yes I did.
What is the iron?
It’s a Laura Star
