- Hey Coaster Fanatics, This is my HD front seat on ride POV and review of The Beast. The massive record breaking wooden coaster at Kings Island. This coaster has two lift hills and has 7,359 feet of track which makes it the longest wooden coaster on the planet. The second drop turns you to the left 18 degrees and then right into a double helix. Its an amazing ride and it should be on everyone's coaster bucket list. Enjoy the ride. • The Beast HD Night Rid...
Not to mention, a night ride on The Beast is amazing :)
I agree, there isn't a better night ride!
Glad to say I’ve had the pleasure of riding this coaster a few times. It’s my absolute favorite wooden coaster as well. No fancy frills. Just pure classic wooden coaster goodness!
True that, It's actually not my favorite anymore but I still love this coaster big time!
The beast is a structural masterpiece!
That's a nice way to put it. I agree!
How come the beast lived long than the son of beast, I wish I could have rode son of beast I guess I was scared and too short to ride I'm 15 years old I'm 6.0 ft
@@ArrowThrills No you don't. It was a terrible ride, both with and without the loop. It had hundreds of structural issues thanks to RCCA's bad design and use of cheap wood. Beast was made in-house by people who had never designed a coaster, but they actually got the structure right and used the correct wood.
I rode this a few years ago--and it blew me away. Definitely one of the best wooden coasters I've ever ridden, along with the Racer.
J.J. Gillmen l
J.J. Gillmen racer is lit
I like the racer
The racer is fun.... but it was toooo bumpy.
Imagine building a roller coaster so epic that it is still considered relevant and awesome over 40 years later. Long live The Beast!
I grew up about 40 minutes away from Kings Island, and I can remember when this was first built. I was five years old and the commercial came on introducing it and I just thought it was the coolest thing.
I grew up about an hour north. I was 9 when it debuted. Rode it for the first time the next year, and was addicted. Visited Kings Island a couple of times a year until I graduated high school in '88 and moved to Charlotte. MUST get back to get on The Beast again!
that's awesome. Thanks for sharing!
One of the best rides I have been on
Agreed! One of my favorites too
I like riding it at sunset because I love how you go through the woods when the sun's going down. Also, the night ride is amazing. It feels like being at a summer camp in the woods when riding it!
haha, true that!
I rode it ten times in one day, back in 2006, but my favorite experience was riding it just once, on July 05, 1996, with my cousin. We rode it at dusk, just as the sun was still peaking from under the horizon. It was an experience I will never, ever forget.
That's awesome! Thanks for sharing!!!
This is one of my most favorite Wooden Coasters. It's really intense and smooth for a coaster built in the 70's... It actually feels like you are going to fly off the tracks on that last helix to!
True that. The speed is crazy on that helix.
This is my forth roller coaster I ever rode and it was a night ride THE BEST
Awesome!
The Beast was my 1st credit and I have a soft spot for it. King's Island is my home park so I have been riding it my whole life. it is just a classic and was ahead of its time and has stood the test of time.
I 100% agree!
I agree.nothing gets me more pumped up than The Beast
I rode this in High school a year after it was built. At night it can't be beat. Will always be my favorite rollercoaster.
I agree! best night ride.
The first time I rode this, I got front seat. The beast will forever be a favorite of mine. I’m actually going to K I today. Yay.
• Avigator • Awesome! Have a great time!
The Beast is my Dad's favorite coaster at Kings Island.
Same with my Dad
It’s my whole family’s UNFAVORTE
Omg same😂
+Addison Saunders Your WHOLE family hates this ride?!?! Why?? What's not to like about it??
Mine too
Love the Beast!! Broke my fear of roller coasters back in 1983!!
awesome, Yeah you can ride just about anything after this.
The night ride on this coaster is unreal.
True that!
This ride is a frickin' work of art! Still to this day, nothing compares when it comes to wooden roller coasters. I would die if they tried to RMC this thing.
I think it will eventually be totally redone with either RMC Topper track or by GCI. I think they will leave the layout alone but maybe add a few moments of air time to replace the long straight sections.
best night ride coaster in the world
one of the best for sure, I would give Voyage a try at night at holiday world. It's my new favorite night ride.
Awesome! Probably my 3rd favorite wooden coaster. Lightning Rod has amazing night rides as well
yeah didn't get to ride it at night unfortunately. hopefully next year. I'm sure it's amazing. do they light it up at all or is it totally dark? I know the trains have lights.
+CoasterFanatics There is a string of lights along the launch but once you are over the top its pitch black the entire time on the other side of the mountain. The only light is the moon! The lights on the train are actually just decoration (or just weren't on at the time)
+PivotCoasterVideos oh I see. yeah I heard the head lights in the front are actually functional but they've been busy getting the rest of the ride to function correctly. maybe they haven't worked on the lights yet.
PivotCoasterVideos so does Grizzly at kings dominion
I love that ride
Me too, one of my favorites!
The turns after the brake run shed are very underrated. You feel like you have completely left the park and the speed on them is immense.
I agree 100%
This is by far my favorite coaster in the park. This was my first coaster and I've loved it ever since. It does give you quite a shaking but it's an older coaster but it's still so much fun
True that!
I went on there 3 times it's awesome I was looking tired though I gulped before it fell
One of the overlooked fun moments you can have when riding is to be approaching the last climb into the station the moment another train goes down the first drop. There's this moment where you can see yourself in the third person, sometimes even make eye contact with someone on the other train, just before they are swallowed by the tunnel
Rode this classic woody after more than 10 years! I still love this ride but it seems to have been given the trim breaks treatment where I didn't recall them to have been. That ruins the rush but I still love this amazing coaster!
Yeah they trimmed it big time. But you're right. It's still a great ride!
i rode the beast in 2016 and it was my first ever "real" roller coster...... I was in shock for the entire ride. It felt like 5 secs XD Ill be going back to it on the 25th.
Nice, It's one of my favorites!
Hey, Coaster Fanatics! In 2000, The Son Of Beast opened at Kings Island. It was a Monster Wooden Roller Coaster which was located in The Action Zone Section to the right of The Bat. It was Tallest And Fastest Wooden Roller Coaster In The World. It also had a Vertical Loop, which was taken out because of an accident that happened in 2006. In 2009, a woman was injured on the ride, so it was closed. In 2012, The Son Of Beast was torn down to make way for Banshee. Did you remember that?
My 7 year old sister just rode this for the first time yesterday. She liked the first part, and then she saw the second lift. I expected tears, but nope, as soon as the ride stopped she yelled "again!"
Its between the Beast and El Toro for me. The beast surely because of scenery and super length just love it. U really do get lost in the wilderness. El Toro just flings u around like a doll LOL. But I love them both equally for diff reasons of course. A Classic right here.
I agree, I hope to try El toro next year.
I went on this in July of 1979, I haven't been back since. I was 10 yrs old and remember looking at that lift hill thinking no way, but I went on and it was great. I guess it's not so big compared to some coasters today but it's probably still great. I would like to go back and ride it again and try Mystic Timbers. Great video!
Thanks, Wow you got to ride it brand new? It's a way different ride now because of all the trim brakes. You're lucky and one of the few that has had the full beast experience. It's still a great coaster and you should definitely come back to ride it again.
Hey, Coaster Fanatics! The Beast Is One Of The Only Wooden Roller Coasters To Have 2 Chain Lift Hills!
Such an amazing coaster. Your intro was awesome thanks for pumping me up for the vid. =} Miss this ride. 👍👍
Awesome, thank you very much. glad you enjoyed it.
I would not cry if Cedar Fair retracked The Beast with Topper track. So long as is not otherwise messed with. :)
That's exactly how I feel, although I wouldn't mind seeing some hills re-profiled a little. But no inversions.
Haha the whole ending part from the time of the 2nd drop (around 6:00) is absolute PAIN so much pain that you just laugh hysterically instead of screaming lol. Classic ride though you cannot go to Kings Island without riding The Beast. Was my first ever roller coaster when I was younger :)
Nice, good to hear. I love that final drop!
BEAST forever!
lol, It is one of a kind.
Even though the beast is not truly given its respect until you talk about the night ride, it is still an American classic during the day. It is an amusement park national treasure but with that being said I beg anyone that's ridden the beast at night to name an equal, at night........ I'll wait
I agree. I hear a lot of people say voyage and Boulder dash at night is better but I haven't tried either one at night yet.
God I love the beast
Me too!
have you noticed how slow the chain lift on the beast is?
An RMC of this ride would be so good but it's a classic and they probably wouldn't want to RMC it. But it would be so cool to see an rmc as long as the beast!
I 100% agree. It will most likely never happen but it's still cool to think about.
Hey, Coaster Fanatics! The Beast And Mystic Timbers Are Both In The Rivertown Area!
The Beast is the king of roller coasters!!! This was my first official roller coaster that I have ever ridden. By official, I mean first one growing out of the kiddie coasters. That being said, when I was riding it, I had absolutely no idea it held the record for longest wooden ride in the world. I did feel it was long, no question. But it wasn't till 2011 that I figured it out. Shame on me.
lol nice!
Hey, Coaster Fanatics! I Have Ridden The Beast Several Times! It Was A Fun And Excellent Roller Coaster!
Hey, Coaster Fanatics! The Beast Opened To The Public In 1979!
I rode it with my dad on the first day it opened. It was a cool....overcast day. Waited inline for hours... We sat it the front car. My eyes watered like crazy... The right is a little different now than it was that day. They didn’t apply the brake in the brake zone that follows the first hill that day..... I’m now 53 years old and the Beast is still my favorite roller coaster of all.. time...
i love the beast... glad i got CP's platinum pass :D ill be there for P&G day :D:D:D
Nice!
The Beast is definitely on my coaster bucketlist! Hopefully soon I'll get to Kings Island as they have a lot of great coasters. However, I have wondered about some things with this coaster. Why are there SO MANY trim brakes?! Even on the first drop there's one! It just totally kills the speed of the ride. If this didn't have any of it's trims, just imagine how fast it would go, it would be insane. I've seen old videos where this coaster had skid brakes originally and it still had the trims. I also feel like they could have done more with it rather than being a lot of straight track. I know it's a terrain coaster and it's all about speed but I think a few hills would have made it even better. Lastly, how rough is this ride? It looks like the helix is the roughest part and I don't mind roughness, just as long as it's not trying to murder me haha.
Honestly the back can be pretty rough. I always sit towards the front. Yeah it just moves too fast without the trims I guess. It's a maintenance thing too. I guess they don't have to work on the track as much since it goes slower. I've heard that before the trims were added that the train would climb over half way up the second lift hill before the chain even took over. I'd love to experience it with no trims. that would be amazing!
I road this 2 times because it was really fun
Nice, yeah it's one of the best!
CoasterFanatics are u a boy or a girl
Boy, lol.
Oh an adult
Angel Jackson Yes, check out some of my newest videos. You'll see.
You got A good ride. The brakes on the tunnel shed didn't hit that much. Where you been by the way?
Hey, Coaster Fanatics! You Travel Through The Woods During Your Ride On The Beast!
i went on this probably 2 years ago and the first drop was rlly scary i wasn’t expecting it lol.
yeah the first drop is pretty long.
My dad worked at this park in 1979 and was one of the first people to ride it .
That's Awesome. He's so lucky!
This holds the record of the longest woody, and the EXTREMELY slow lifthill,I rode this,i am reading the r.l stone book.
nice, I never read the book. My brother has it. Some day i will borrow it and read it.
Awesome POV of the legendary Beast! :)
thank you very much!
+CoasterFanatics You're welcome! The Beast is one of my bucket list coasters too! :)
+BryceFourn 2001 it no doubt has the best night ride. I'm posting that next week. it's pretty dark but you can still see most of it.
+CoasterFanatics Agreed and can't wait
I rode The Voyage over 25 times in one day with many re-rides plus rode the Raven several times. No headaches at all. The very next day, I rode the Beast ONE time....Never again until RMC works their magic on it. 50 seconds to get to the top of the Voyage... 140 tedious seconds to get to the top of the Beast... UGH! THEN a trim on the drop. UGH! Then all of the trimmed sections... Plus the bounciness on the Beast for no reason. Plus the distance and time it takes a train to get into the station when one leaves...
There is only one trim on The Voyage and it still builds up crazy speed after.
This ride needs some modern technology applied to it. It shows that Dinn oversaw this AND Mean Streak AND the Texas Giant.
The Beast could be fantastic if it got banked turns, smoother track more airtime hills and better trains. 4 of my top 5 coasters are wooden...this is definitely not one of them. Maybe they need the same company that did work to The Legend to come in. I would, maybe, ride The Legend once per visit...now I rank it even with The Voyage. Lightning Rod is my 2nd favorite with El Toro being #3.
The Beast gave me such a headache that I had to leave for the day.
I live near here and my classroom had the beast book, it was pretty good.
oh the RL Stine book? My brother has that!
I know im kinda late but would this be a ride you recommend for beginners? or are there any other rides you would recommend?
Honestly It is a good first big coaster. It's a little rough at times but it's not super intense besides the double helix at the end. The american Eagle at six flags great america was my first big coaster growing up. Not as big as the beast of course but it is still a very large wooden coaster. If you're gonna start with wood coasters at this park try the Racer, then the Beast, and finally Mystic Timbers. Good luck and hope this answers your question.
Hey, Coaster Fanatics! You Can See The Park's Other Rides At The Top Of The Second Chain Lift Hill!
I know everyone mentioning the night rides. If you really want a night ride make your way during Halloween Haunt. The park stays open until 1 AM and it is utterly stunning. I had the most amazing ride during Halloween when there was a mist in the air that made me feel like I was in a movie.
Mr500sheetsofpaper That's awesome! Thanks for sharing!
I rode this with the buzzbars in 1989, I was 12, no trims and the banking into the helix was straight into the tunnel
Thats awesome! I wish I could have experienced it back then.
People complain about the trims but I'd rather have trains that completely haul through the layout and a couple trims.
I agree. The trims get so much hate on this ride.
Dude, forget "best wooden coaster." This is the best roller coaster ever built, regardless of type. It will NEVER be topped, by anything.
for me there are better coasters out there but beast is very sentimental for sure.
Welcome to the beast. Pleas keep all arms and legs inside the car at all time. Thank you.
lol yep!
What if the Beast gets retracked into a RMS wooden coaster with 3 inversions?
So my girlfriend and I were at Cedar Point last weekend and we were talking favorite coasters while waiting for Millenium (which is my current favorite) and I had an interesting thought and wanted to get your opinion.
We all know the talk for KI is a giga in the next few years, but what if, just what if they did a remake of Son of Beast? I’m aware the odds of that happening are 999,999,999,999 to 1. But what if? The ride was awesome when it was working. I personally would welcome it hands up.
Shiggity Diggity Yeah I think we would all welcome it but you're right it's pretty much not going to happen especially since they just got a wood coaster in mystic timbers. I think the best shot that we have is that they make this Giga to be themed to the old SOB in some way. I wouldn't be shocked if the Giga has the word "Beast" in its title. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for this coaster.
Dang, vortex Is still there
yes this was filmed in 2016 I believe.
"I want to go on something more exciting than scenic railway 1"
😂
It's a nice coaster but this one gave me a headache every time LOL. Very good though.
yeah it's a little on the rough side, lol.
Wonder how the Wicker Man will hold up to this beauty :)
Probably not well. To me that coaster is going to be all about the themeing. The stats really aren't all that impressive for wicker man. In fact it's a pretty short ride. That being said the ride still looks pretty cool.
CoasterFanatics Thanks for the reply man. You have a good day :)
No prob, You too!
Obviously since this is an almost 40 yr. old, wooden roller coaster, you're gonna get rattled quite a bit. Where would be the best area to sit (toward the front, back, or middle) to have a "smoother" ride with the least amount of rattling/impact? Thanks!
the front is smoothest by far. the farther you go back the rougher it is in my experience.
ya the front is the smoothest but when you go into the helix lean to the left until the end of the helix for less rattle
I made it 60 likes.
Nice, thank you!
May I use this in a video? I’ll give you full credit
Yes you can, Just give credit.
CoasterFanatics thanks
People say "It's slow because its wooden!" ITS SO FAST!!!
At 3:22,if you look to your bottom left, you can see that people have thrown their bracelets and play cards on that roof.
haha, true that!
What's the height of the second Lift hill?
I'm not 100% on the height but i know the drop is 141 feet
They should probably RMC it in the upcoming years.
I wouldn't be shocked. I'd want them to redo it in topper track instead of I-box though.
Nooooooo! Some things are great as they are and shouldn't be changed. Mean Streak was no longer fun how it was, it needed the refresh badly. But The Beast is still classic and it's still fun how it is.
YoshiFTW, Gravity Group would do some justice instead of RMC by adding a corkscrew loop after coming out of the tunnel.
I thought the chain lift was slow
The first chain lift sometimes goes slow because it waits for the other train to clear the second lift hill before it will speed up. It's a safety thing.
if the chain on the second hillkeeps breaking the chain will breaks off of the track or got tangled up😳
Oh and thanks for telling to my comment now I'm going to sucribe to this RUclips chamnl thanks love 🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑
Kameron Lawson No prob and thank you very much! I really appreciate it!!!
The night ride was so scary I thought that a Tigger would chase me
I ride the the beast
Nice!
I Swear I Almost Hit My Head On The Wall Of The Tunnels During The Helixes😭
lol, they are pretty close.
2:46 theres something on the track
It's a sensor.
Damien Kent oh i see, have you been one the ride and do you like it?
Johnnion GT No, I live in the U.K. so I haven't had a chance too, but hopefully I will one day as this coaster looks brilliant.
Johnnion GT No, I live in the U.K. so I haven't had a chance too, but hopefully I will one day as this coaster looks brilliant.
It looked like Mountain Dew
Soo... 24,893 people just rode front seat on beast
Yep, lol.
RIDE AT NIGHT BACK SEAT AWESOME ALSO RIDE IT WHEN IT RAINS TRACK GET WET AN BREAKS DONT WORK AS GOOD IVE SO SEEN STUPID PEOPLE GET OUT OF THERE SEATS WHEN IT WAS MOVING
nice, yeah I've seen people do that as well. Not very smart at all.
This coaster was way better with out the trim brakes.....it was way faster.....oh you should have mentioned it was built to the landscape to cut on build.cost and the tunnel gose underground and also it was the fast in the world at one time.....
True that, The beast has lots of cool facts about it.
The Beast has always had trims lol
CVW2112 this is a myth! The Beast trim breaks were always there from the build! In fact it's faster today!
Advice:
If it's your first time riding roller coasters(or you haven't been on one in a while, but you want to do it again)....don't ride this one.
It's an awesome and exhilarating ride, but at the same time, it's a SCARY ride and not everyone can handle it.
Start slow(or small in this case) and work your way up to the bigger rides.
BEWARE!
I agree, It's only the longest wooden roller coaster in the world, lol.
lol...it's just advice and if people want to reject it, that's fine with me.
I actually haven't been on roller coasters in a long time myself, and honestly? This one sticks out to me and I'm drawn to riding "The Beast".
I live in Illinois, and although the rides at Six Flags Great America are cool, I wish that we had a ride like this.
I used to love this ride, but it made me so sore.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s amazing. But it’s to rough for me.
It's not the smoothest. that's for sure. Believe me there are worse ones out there, lol.
this ride just shakes me to death. it is in my top 10 wooden coasters it is like number 4. I like HW's 3 wooden coasters better than this.
Hawaiian Coasters 325 you haven’t been out much have you? None of HW’s woodies are even close to my top 10
The Boss at Six Flags St. Louis looks like The Beast at Kings Island. I will give you POVs. My Dad's favorite coaster at St. Louis will be Boss.
Thanks, but i will get footage on my own when i visit there this summer.
I hate the beast I round it at kings iland and it was super bumpy
It's a little on the rough side but it's still a classic.
Vortex is the worst, the beast is better than vortex
One issue is it will shake the shit outta you
agreed especially in the back.
I caught a ladies wig on this ride.
That's awesome. You should have put it on and posed for the photo, lol.
I hope you enjoyed my video of The Beast. Please leave your thoughts in the comment section! Check out my night time POV of The Beast. Click Here:

I live thirty minutes away from this as theme park
nice, this is a great home park.
