If you have never been on this coaster my advice would be to just get on it as quick as you can in any seat because it breaks so often. Then ride again for the front seat which will be a longer wait, but is the best. I was seated with a girl in the front seat both of us being single riders. It was her first time ever on the coaster and she drove from pretty far away. Unfortunately it broke when we were seated and ready to launch, she would have got to ride it if she did not wait for the front seat....heartbreaking for sure.
@@Patexer yes, very often if you ''wait it out'' , with all those that leave the line, your wait allot of times will be just as long as if it did not brek down!!!
This ride holds the best memory and story experience for me of any ride. The first time I ever rode this, I didn't even plan to ride it. I told myself I'd never ride it honestly. It was going to be my groups last ride of the day and it was just before the park closed, and I had just planned to walk through the line and cross over to the platform on the other side and wait for them. For some unexplainable reason, when we got up to the car, I sat down and strapped in. To this day I still don't know what drove me to do it, and maybe it was the heat of the moment. It was dark, the park was illuminated, the ambience was stunning, and I was in the front seat. I was completely blown away, the whole experience felt like it lasted forever even though it was 30 seconds. I came off the ride shaking, but in the best way possible, because I just had the shock of a lifetime unlike anything I'd ever imagined. Afterwards my cousin in the seat behind me told me there was a doodle of a tombstone etched in the back of my seat, which I found pretty hilarious and I'm glad he didn't tell me before we launched.
+Brian Smith me too. well i live in michigan but cedar point is actually 2 hours closer to me than michigans adventure so cedar point is what i've always considered my home park
I've never been on this ride, though I have gone to Cedar Point and someone did ask me if I wanted to ride Dragster (draw your own conclusion) but I recently drew the courage to go on Kingda Ka wile I was at Six Flags, I did notice the launch being on the rougher side but I LOVED KingdaKa, I walked off the ride and I was feeling the adrenaline, and my hair was a mess and I loved it, I couldn't stop talking about it. I'm hoping to eventually go back to the Point and experience all the new coasters they've put in since.
logan kendrick sameee. Although with me I didn’t find it rough. Maybe because I’m short but I tried to look out for the roguhness but I couldn’t feel it
What's interesting about Dragster is that it once was VERY prone to breakdowns and roll-backs...like every few launches it would have a roll-back or just refuse to work. One major cause of this was that the trains originally had a spoiler and huge wheels on the back (to make them look more like dragsters). This added unnecessary weight and DRAG to the trains. Once they realized this, they removed both features and the ride suddenly became much more reliable! In fact, I have YET to see it roll-back since the removal of those features (I used to see it roll back at least a few times a year)! Yeah it still breaks down due to high winds, rain, and occasional glitch in the system, but it's far less than what it was. I forget when they removed the wheels and tails. I just went one year and realized they were gone. Also from what I heard (this may not be true), they put that twist in the track so that some of the train's kinetic energy is lost before entering the brakes. Without it, the coaster would go straight down and may be going too fast and cause the riders pain as it suddenly hit the brakes. It's mild braking feature disguised as a "thrill element". How much of that is true, I don't know. I just heard one of the operators saying that when I was there was year after someone asked him about the twist. Kingda Ka has a similar thing, but I don't think it twists as much. To me, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense that it's a braking element, but I'm not a coaster designer so what do I know :p
It will usually roll back after being closed for rain. I worked at CP in 07 and was working the Corkscrew entrance after a bit of early fall rain. I must have seen 5 rollbacks that afternoon.
Half of what you said is invalid. They removed the drag car themed trains because of safety concerns of parts flying off the ride and possibly injuring guests. The original trains weighed 5 - 5 1/2 tons with 4 cars and they FLEW over that tophat. Now they added an extra car and it’s a lot heavier and goes be the tophat element a lot slower.
The first time I went to CP, I was so excited to go on this ride. As my friends and I walked towards the line, we watched it rollback and our faces just filled with panic lol we had no clue that it was pretty normal. Since then, I've been on TTD twice, and I find it worth the wait.
I rode this over 15 times last year in one week, better than KK. I broke down for a whole day and didnt open til closing, about 2 hours afterwards (Nice Nightride btw). Definitely dont miss out on it. Intamin always impresses.
This thing does break down a lot. And you're right about the wind part. I was there for opening day Saturday and it got windy and they shut down every coaster in the park except for the small ones.
I put my hands up during the launch and the headrest bruised my arms but it was worth the experience. And you have to ride front row at least once. The view is amazing. Also, from my experience, Valraven usually has much longer lines and therefor it should be the first ride to try to do in the morning. We entered from the marina entrance and ran to get in line and one time we were lucky enough to get in the front row of the first train of the day.
I love the theme of Top Thrill Dragster; went with a foreign friend of mind who's a big racing enthusiast so was thrilling to see through his eyes as he'd always wanted to experience a drag-racer start which is what the ride simulates and the racing "startline lights" give quite a psychological rush as well as you have to wait for the countdown and then GOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
I've took the 12 hour trip to Cedar Point three times now. Top Thrill Dragster has only been down once for about an hour. It looks like I've been lucky lmao. I've been on Top Thrill Dragster about 30 times now. Let's just hope I go back soon.
This ride is awesome. It feels like a 20 second hallucination. Taylor is not kidding when he says this ride breaks down alot. I remember it being open for a total of three hours when I was there Monday and Tuesday. If you see it up and running GET IN LINE IMMEDIATELY, it may be your only chance.
Manatee Power exactly! If I get in for early entry, and Dragster isn’t open for it, I would ride the rides for 45 minutes, and then run straight to Dragster.
you couldn't be more right about the heigh fear comparison. i don't do well with heights but ttd wasn't bad at all. millenium force on the other hand was terrifying. going up 300 feet at like a 70 degree angle for 30 seconds will definitely kick in your fear of heights if you have it lol
Went to CP on a school trip and we stayed at Breakers so we went by all the coasters. Everybody was talking about being scared of the Dragster only for it roll back.
Love the Top Thrill Dragster it's at my Hometown park. I absolutely love Cedar Point. I've been there 3 times. My favorite roller coaster there tho is definitely Maverick. Thombs up for Top Thrill Dragster.
I was hoping you might have said something about the restraints, the majority of launch coasters have shoulder restraints, and I often feel much safer in shoulder restraints. I wanted to know why they decides to use lap restraints, especially due to the height, and launch. Not to mention the vertical twist! I'd feel very unsafe in those restraints.
walking to the park on a sunny morning waiting, to get in. I saw rollback, my mom said it will clear the hill. I was like theres no way thats making it up the hill. It was awesome. Cedar Point is not my home park. Kings Island is my home park. But, I still get to visit CP once or twice a year. I forget what dragster feels like becasue it ws down the whole time I was there
I might go to Cedar Point soon. I go to Six Flags Great Adventure a lot so I've rode Kingda ka a lot so if it's a long line, is it worth to go on, or should I skip it for something else.
I saw it rollback once. It had just rained an the ride just opened back up. We were running to the line (because it would get long soon) and I looked at the ride, and the train seemed to be stopped at the top. It stopped for a few seconds and started falling backwards. And down it went. The train after that seemed to go very fast over the top hat. Any reasons why?
I have been on this a few times. The first time I went on it, the two trains ahead of my ride rolled back. So I was really hopping for it, and as we are sitting in the launch we could hear the people in the bleachers yelling Roll Back Roll Back. But we made it. no rollback. Great Ride, but I prefer longer coasters, and actually liked Maverick Better. I think falls around #5 of coasters i like at Cedar Point. My favorite is still Raptor.
How does the acceleration on Dragster compare to the acceleration on the other Cedar Point coasters that use a launch system (Wicked Twister and Maverick)?
+jpwcpa dragsters launch is alot stronger. wicked twisters is pretty strong. you really dont feel mavericks launch. but dragsters launch is by far the most powerful. you really cant even scream you drop back in your seat and then all of a sudden that hill is coming right at you. the launch is worse than the hill.
I just rode top thrill dragster last week for the first time. the launch is insane. 0-120mph in less than 4 seconds. The launch caught me off guard. It was so fast. I was out of breath from screaming at the top of my lungs. Top thrill dragster is on of cedar point's best coaster.
I'm considering riding this one or Kingda Ka (or probably both depending on how I like the first one I ride). Are there any coasters I could use to basically prepare for this one? (The closest large amusement park to where I live is HersheyPark.)
I rode it a few days ago and it hurt my neck when it curved up because my head was slightly forward and it went so fast up but still one of my favorites
I was really lucky when I went last summer for 3 days. Every time we went it was never down, and because of flashpasses the longest we waited was like, 25 mins MAYBE. But honestly when we got to the top, it seems like it won't make it but it does and it's like 5 seconds at the top. I always make sure to look to the right or left because the view is AMAZING and not scary at all. However I'm clearly not afraid of heights lol. But at the same time I got to watch a guy get his head almost ripped off that day so....
Home Run Cubing he crossed 2 high fences with warning signs on them (KEEP OUT lmao) because there was a ride inside the fences, a hanging rollercoaster that went like 70 mph. He dropped his phone on that ride so he went to get it. The rollercoaster went by and hit him
Guys I need some help big drops scare me yet I kinda love them but they scare the crap out of me so would u recommend me riding this coaster? My brother says you're still processing the launch so you hardly notice the drop, is he right?
You actually have no time to think. When I was just done riding it I forgot everything after the launch, all I remember after that is spinning down to the bottom. I missed the beautiful view lol
I'm about to go in August. my questions are: Is the scariest part really the launch? Do you feel like you are actually going to fall out of your seat? How secure do you feel on this ride? and Is it as scary as it looks?
+Zachary Heflin the launch wasn't as scary as I thought it would be and it feels really secure. I actually thought the GateKeeper was scarier than the Top Thrill Dragster. I think you should be perfectly fine, but it's all about the experience :)
I like dragster a lot. Maverick and Millinium force are better though. and yes Millinium force is my second fav coaster only to Superman the ride at sfne. I have not been on fury though

when i breaks down, i just wait until the downtime is over
@@Patexer yes, very often if you ''wait it out'' , with all those that leave the line, your wait allot of times will be just as long as if it did not brek down!!!
As someone who is going to cedar point next summer and who’s afraid of heights I really appreciate what you had to say so yeah exited to ride it

Brian Smith Me Three Going June 19th 2017
Brian Smith ur so lucky i luv cedar point its the best park.but it takes 6 hour drive
"No rollercoaster is perfect"
Watches review of Maverick
And the Steel Vengeance one
And then watches steel vengeance review
dragster is a legend! the first and best strata coaster!
Moonlight There are just two it's not too difficult to say which one is better
uh....
kingda ka and TTD aren't the only stratas...
BlazerLazer Two full Circuit I see the others just as half rollercoasters
oops sorry lol
they aren't considered stratas
BlazerLazer XD

storm runner prepares you I prefer ttd over kingda ka
I love this ride but its closed more than it's open also rollbacks don't happen much anymore cause they got new trains a while back
I tried front seat and it is just soooooo intense. Also I was absolutely covered in dead bugs. I'll stick to the other rows from now on!
I rode it a few days ago and it hurt my neck when it curved up because my head was slightly forward and it went so fast up but still one of my favorites
I’ve seen it roll back the only time I have been to cedar point
I think it actually launches at around 115 give or take a couple mph. This happens over time with hydraulic launches
You don't even feel the drop, I think it might be because of the spiral or maybe I just can't remember because it happened so fast
RICHEY099 it's the spiral it effects the air time of the drop.
RICHEY099 yea same, I couldn’t feel the drop for KK. Honestly stratas aren’t very scary
Roll Backs are terrifying and amazing at the same time. Plus, you get to go a second time right away!
Marcus Shull have you been on a rollback?
when we were there 2 years ago a stormy say rolled back 6 times
3:17 Omg i'm dying rn
what's funny?
morgan "Not too often, only 4 or 5 times a day"
+Theme Park Ninja that's not often what so ever..
flyers668 What is often then?
well when they launch it 2-3 hundred times a day 4 times is not often at all.
Got evacuated on it last weekend. It shut down just as I was waiting to launch.
What is your opinion on Magnum XL-200?
Do a list on the most unique and interested roller coasters
I've seen Top Thrill Dragster rollback after I was done riding CorkScrew.
I can’t say which one is better because I’ve only ridden kingda ka, but I would like to experience CP and TTD
He died:( but what he did was pretty stupid so natural selection I guess. I feel bad for his family
+Jua T What did he do?
Home Run Cubing he crossed 2 high fences with warning signs on them (KEEP OUT lmao) because there was a ride inside the fences, a hanging rollercoaster that went like 70 mph. He dropped his phone on that ride so he went to get it. The rollercoaster went by and hit him
That was with raptor right? Im sorry you had to see that!
You should do top ten types of inversions
I love this ride at cedar point
I was on a roll back it was awesome
Which do you consider better overall: TTD or Storm Runner at Hershey?
TTD

Nvm I rode it it was amazing
Going up threw me off guard when I first rode in front. Idk why but it just did lol
Is there any roller coasters at Cedar Point I would want to ride to get ready for this one?
Maybe wicked twister if you haven't ever rode a launched coaster before. This isn't scary for the height.
You actually have no time to think. When I was just done riding it I forgot everything after the launch, all I remember after that is spinning down to the bottom. I missed the beautiful view lol
I'm about to go in August. my questions are:
Is the scariest part really the launch?
Do you feel like you are actually going to fall out of your seat?
How secure do you feel on this ride?
and Is it as scary as it looks?
+Zachary Heflin the launch wasn't as scary as I thought it would be and it feels really secure. I actually thought the GateKeeper was scarier than the Top Thrill Dragster. I think you should be perfectly fine, but it's all about the experience :)
+StrawberryC0W MC Did you feel like you were going to fall out of your seat. That's what really worries me.
+Zachary Heflin yea sorta but only when you start spiraling down. It's not that bad since it's over before you can process everything :)
+StrawberryC0W MC And I guess you don't have really any time to start freaking out on how high you are since you're only at the top for two seconds
when is the next time you are going to kings island? I'm going tomorrow
Are you going to do a new review on Six Flags Great Adventure, or Nitro?
I've been on a rollback once, it was awesome :D It's even better because they shoot you out again
this ride seems fun but kingda ka will forever be my number 1
I saw a rollback yesterday when it was testing
Hey Coaster Studios, when are you going to Cedar Point.
+Scotty O Currently I'm planning on late June
+Coaster Studios same here!
17 seconds actually
I’ve seen top thrill roll back just after I got stuck on corckscerws lift hill
I hope I can experience this coaster someday.
Nice video.
Can you review valravin?
Top Thrill Dragster Is A Good Coaster i Been On It 15 Times Saw It Roll Back Was On It When Broken Down Plus, 2 Times Of 15 It Hit 130mph
I was there yesterday!
What does it feel like
Kingda Ka's launch is much more intenser imo.
is it better to wait for top thrill dragster or millennium force which one is worth it
JOKER CREATIONS I would say Millennium Force
I saw Top Thrill Dragster roll back 2 times in a row!
It rolls back a lot
For some perspective, I went skydiving and was told we fell at 120 mph. That’s the same speed at Top Thrill Dragster.
Lol
I like dragster a lot. Maverick and Millinium force are better though. and yes Millinium force is my second fav coaster only to Superman the ride at sfne. I have not been on fury though
Maverick to me is by far better than millennium force.
Today I saw TTD rollback today!
