Chevrolet C60

This is just a short clip of my brother and I making a run to the landfill in the old C60 Chevrolet dump truck. It has a 261 straight 6 with a 4spd transmission and 2spd rear end. I really enjoy driving this old truck. It is not fast by any means but it does what I need. Thanks for watching !

Oh Buddy used this have this exact truck when I was a kid in the 90s (actually have a clip of it in the videos I post in the intros). Brings me back seeing this, ours looked just as shity on the inside! Classic thanks for posting

I love that Muncie SM464. I got one in my 89 Chevy Chevy C2500. Love how it drives and shifts. Gotten to the point in the past 3 months of it being my daily driver while I plan to fix up my first car, a 96 VW Jetta. I can shift it so smooth and quick compared to my buddy with his 95 Chevy Cheyenne 1500 with the Getrag 5 speed in his.
Nice to see Chevy put the SM465 in their C60's. Shows how tough that transmission is.

so start with button in..gear one, run it, pull button out. pump clutch? shift to 2 -

Sorry for the delayed response. Yes you start with the split down(low side) and 1st gear as you’re running the gear up you can pull the split up(high side) and when you’re ready for the high gear you can release the throttle and it’ll go in or you can clutch it that’s up to you. Using the clutch to down shift the split makes it easier.

To be honest with you we have never had any problems out of them. The electric shift one had a broken wire one time but other than that they’ve been trouble free. Sorry I didn’t have an answer for you.

It is a Muncie SM465 4 speed with 1st as a sweet 6.55:1 low hole gear. L/1 is 6.55:1, 2nd is 3.65:1, 3rd is 1.70:1 and 4th is 1.00:1. With a 2 range. Gearing can get a .30:1 road speed rate increase. Giving 4th high a 0.70:1 ratio.

Yeah, there’s a harmonic vibration in the drive line and that makes everything in the cab rattle. You won’t go to sleep driving this one. lol
