Great streamm thanks for sharing
no problem thank you for watching, glad you enjoyed it. Tom
Would love one of them with the 9 coaches to boot. Only problem is that with Hornby’s insane prices, which aren’t helped by the retailers, the rake would cost over £800, with another £80 for the TTS decoders, or £200 for Loksound V5s, so that’s £1000. Jesus.
Hi Ben I now exactly were your coming from luckily I was able to part with some older locos and rolling stock, buildings and track etc back in the autumn to help fund the newer locos, strangely this Christmas everything I seemed to have on pre order from 2 years ago and even some from last year all turned up in December so luckily I did have the money set aside I don't think I'll be buying all 9 coaches either, I think I'll stretch to about 5 ehich will look right on my layout, I'd love all 9 but just wouldn't be able to justify the cost in one go just for coaches, I was thinking about tts decoders but because the new locos are now 21 pin I thought I'd just go straight for the locksound, I wasn't sure there would be adequate space for an 8 to 21 pin adapter as well as the chip and while looking for the tts decoder they either seemed to be sold out or they were selling for mire than the retail price, like I said its a fantastic model but for the price which I've seen now at 380.00, it's to much money for an analogue loco
Yes looks and sounds great but it's a huge investment for power cars, coaches and decoders.
Absolutely beautiful loco well done Tom 👍brilliant update
Thanks mate glad you enjoyed the video. Tom
Good evening, great review on this great new hst set, you could gets some hst barrier coaches from rails of Sheffield, I have the platinum jubilee hst set, it’s very good, the cyclops light on the roof replaced the cab lighting on this model, keep the videos coming, happy new year to you and your family.
Hi that's handy to now about the cab light, I think money wise for now I'll wait till the coaches turn up, the platinum set does look really nice, thanks for watching, much appreciated. Tom
@@northwesttrainsmodels Hi Tom, Bachmann hst barrier coaches are a very good price at rails, a stop gap perhaps, I have the Bachmann midland Pullman set, it is amazing so I think I will wait until Hornby bring out a unique livery, maybe a new network rail measurement car set or the original yellow/blue livery, fingers crossed for 2023 models.
@user-jt3mv8yi2k cheers I'll take a look
Nice models, like you my first model was the HST only mine was in GWR livery and it still runs beautifully after a number of years with a number of extra carriages added to the basic train pack, lovely video as always, Colin.
Hi Colin, they have always been my favorite loco I did like the gwr livery and the original virgin livery when they both came out in the early 2000s. Am gutted the real thing is being taken out of service now on alot of roots, I always loft the original one I had as it had working lights, I couldn't imagine back them having a hst with directional lights and sound now, thanks for watching. Tom
looks good tom can't wait to see the extra coaches
Hi glad you like them, am really looking forward to seeing it running with the right coaches, thanks for watching. Tom
Very nice. I don't own an HST and I am torn between this one and the East Midlands train HST. I have the Backmann blue Pullman set.
I can certainly recommend the blue pullman it might go nice with your bachmann model, my favorite hst livery was always the original blue intercity and the first virgin livery, let me know what you go for and thanks for watching. Tom
Great video! I would love one, but I can't stretch to £1000 for the set of coaches, the loco and dummy car, plus sound! It would be great though! Thanks for sharing and enjoy!
Hi I now what you mean I certainly won't be buying all the coaches I'll try and stretch to 5 coaches depending on my budget when they come out, luckily I sold alot of older models before Christmas to help fund it and the class 59 I bought, thanks for watching. Tom
Accurascale and Bachmann give you sound for the money Hornby want, over priced and not great value for money, only my opinion.
@user-jt3mv8yi2k I do agree with you I think I've only bought 1 other hornby loco in the last 2 years and that was a network rail 31 that was heavily discounted, most locos I've been buying are bachmann, I have a manor class from accurascale on pre order am looking forward to that, and a few with rapido as there othering sound fitted options at a reasonable price
Hi from Glasgow update your H.S.T BR BLUE and Grey it makes a difference to the Model and thanks for the video 📹
Hi am intending on updating my hst and a few other old locos, I've got some decoders and decoder sockets on order to do the job so keep an eye out for an update, glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching and commenting. Tom
That's a lovely loco set ,i haven't got a HST125 set ...,yet...do you use stay alive with your decoders ? love the layout..
Hi glad you like the layout and loco, I only use stay a live on really small locos for when they go over dead spots on points if you have insulfrog points, bigger locos shouldn't really stall on track, hope this helpful, thanks for watching. Tom
Enjoyed the video, nice train!!
Cheers mate and thanks for watching. Tom
Looks great!
Hi glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching. Tom
You're saying the coupling heights don't match existing stock and can cause derailments and they cost how much???
Hi David I see at the moment there about 380.00 I didn't pay that much luckily but it does look like the new coupler design like I've seen on the hornby class 60 and dapol 68s does seem to hang abit low, like I said in the video it did derail a couple of times on half speed going over setrack points, hornby trains normally do setrack no problem so I put it down to the different couplers, am going to switch to hunt magnetic couplers to see if that solves the problem till the new coaches turn up, on stream line or express points I had no issues, thanks for watching. Tom
I wonder to have the midland pullman set
its probably the best hst ive had from hornby, only slight complaint is that they could have added the cab light to it, but otherwise its a great model.
I presume the pipes are for an hst with buffers. nice review. i think you have got enough trains now!
You can never have enough trains, 😂, you are right I do tend to sell some on that I don't use much anymore and I sold quite a few to be honest to fund the hst and the 59, and your right the pipes I think would suit the rail adventure set they just probably have the same instructions for all the sets, thanks for watching. Tom
@@northwesttrainsmodelscollecting trains is addictive, but there are worse things to be addicted to. and at least they retain their value generally. anyway keep up the good work with your videos! tim
@Mr1234tim1234 thanks Tim your right it is addictive but atleast like u say they don't loose value so they can be swapped for newer models if you wanted a change 👍
Nice video!
Hi glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching. Tom
Great loco but the sugercube speakers are a let down I've just sound fitted 1 of these using roads and rails sound chips and upgraded the speakers by removing and replacing the suger cube speakers there's a review on my page
Cheers I'll take a look, thanks
Hi, I just checked mine and it only has the same accessories as yours. I have both the Valenta and MTU TTS twin packs in stock, but not sure which would suit it best ? also just received my 8 to 21 pin adaptors so I think I'm ready to go :)
Hi yeah I should have looked at the instructions properly I think the other accessories would just suit the buffer beam versions, which liveries did you go for, I was really happy with the sound fitting, couldn't be any easier compared to the older model, thanks for watching. Tom
@@northwesttrainsmodels Same as you, Midland Pullman :) I used a Hornby 20% discount offer to order the Train Pk & all 9 carriages although I've heard nothing about when they will be available ?
Maybe there isn't cablights because she doesn't have any in real life, i saw her last night and it was pitch black but she didn't have any cab lights on
Thats true the cab lights aren't on when running but when there static in the station they can be on, I herd since that the reason why the midland pullman didn't have cab light was because of the third centre light at the top, the other hst models that don't have that extra light have cab lights, this is what I've been told anyway but haven't had another variant to try yet
Hi Tom, expensive duo especially when you got to add sound then the couches I bought the Bachmann western Pullman set all singing with sound and lights £650 a lot cheaper than hornby cheers Al
Hi Al that's very true I think that's why hornby of set the locos and the coaches to make u think ur not spending alot in one go, bachmann are expensive but better value like you say when every new tooled model now has a sound fitted version and it would cost more to buy analogue and sound fit it yourself, it is a lovely loco but to keep buying them am going to have to sell another model to help part fund a new one, thanks again for watching. Tom
Nice loco's but too expensive for what they are, was thinking about it but can't stomach the price for just 1 powered unit and the other effectively a coach.
Hi I can sympathise with you, I sold a few locos, buildings and track I didn't need anymore back in October to help fund my latest pre orders but the prices are getting out of hand I paid alot less than what I've seen them for sale for this week 380.00 🫣😬, I think also that's the reason why they don't put the coaches with them now to maximise the profit, I also hate it when hornby bring out limited runs of locos or rolling stock and people just buy them to put them on ebay for double the price, thanks again for watching my videos and commenting. Tom
@@northwesttrainsmodels Yeah know what you mean, I'm also looking at selling some of my stuff to fund better up to date models coming out this year...a continuous cycle.
@sapphirejunction8993 its never ending but all part of the fun, atleast can have fun with the models before swapping them for newer ones. Tom
@@northwesttrainsmodels Exactly!
the detail pack is correct
Hi Rob thanks for the info and for watching. Tom
Watching other videos the fag packet HST does have cab lights so maybe this does just that the decoders not set up for it.
Hi Stephen i was told that they have sacrificed the cab light in the midland pullman model for the small cyclops light at the top i still think they could have easily included both especially as this model seems to be more expensive than other hst models, overall its still an amazing model so cant complain to much, thanks for watching and for the info. Tom
