The full 120 set is the only watercolor pencil set I own. Because of your video I pulled them back out and have been using them. They work great in my Hannah Karlzon book that I have problems with other wet media going through the paper.

Overall for a budget brand, Kalour products have been very dependable and fun to use and I still cannot believe how much I enjoy their Metallic set. They'll never replace my beloved Prismacolors (other than their sucky Metallics) or Black Widow, but they are getting used way more than any of my other budget sets (and even one or two of the spendier sets). Thanks for doing your reviews on their products.
Yeah they are definitely a decent budget brand, but I just wish they could reply to customer questions LOL
@@ColorfullyOptimistic It's so strange that they are so unresponsive - most companies at least have someone to reply with a "we'll get back to you!" before sending you into a void to never be replied to.
I think it would be easier to compare brands if you used the same colours (or as close to the same as possible) for the tests.

Hi Kori great review is the 120 set the one with the sea turtle please. In Australia the 72 set is $80 so annoying we get charged heaps over here

Thanks for the review, and all of the details. I've been looking at picking up a small set of Inktense.. but it'd be nice to be able to pick up a bigger range of colors to play with.
Absolutely get the Inktense set!!! they are unmatched in their vibrancy! i even went as far as getting the big 24 (?) watercoloour set and i keep it for special ocasions. They're so good!
@@ynaartsasyouliveandbreathe3533 I definitely plan to get a set of Inktense someday, but I’ve never really used watercolors before, and want to have the practice with pencils that are less precious. 😅
So these and Inktense are two different things. Inktense are not actually watercolor pencils at all, and won't be in this battle :). I highly recommend them though -- they are so versatile for the price (the Inktense)

Will still definitely invest in at least a small set someday - I have 3 that I picked up at random from Blick’s a while ago, and they’re a joy to use… just pricey! Will have to recover from my recent Prismacolor purchases first.. 😅🤷🏻♀️

Thank you for doing this. I have the full set of Albrecht but want a set to leave at my daughter's for when I go stay with them. Do you happen to know if the 120 set of Kalour watercolor pencils that have the solid colored body are the same quality as these?
They have a 120 set that look like these, and a black-barrel set. This is supposedly their higher grade.

I've been waiting for this review! I know u reviewed the Premeires recently. There was an Amazon question about the difference of the 2 pencils & Kalour replied that these were their top WC pencils. I'm surprised you didn't get the 120 w your FSS! I've been looking for a budget set for q while now. I threw out the Castle Arts because they kept breaking & the color washes right off. I went back & forth w their CS and after sending them pics of all the breakage & other things they asked for, they thought that refunding me 10% of the cost would be a successful remedy. I told them how other brands like Arteza & Black Widow stood behind their product but put the needs of their customers before all, giving me an entire new set of pencils in both cases. I told them that offering me 10% refund was insulting & ridiculous & did nothing to fix the problem so tossing them & reviewing them accordingly was my only recourse! ANYWAY! I'm so happy that you really liked these Kalour pencils and showed us why u did. That gives me the info I need to decide while giving your approval gives me a reference. Thanks so much & I hope u smile at the good comments & just wave off the others! You're too busy to read crap!!
No, because I have artist-grade ones and I won't be keeping these (I mentioned at the end). Interesting they replied to you but ignored me. I have a black barrel set and honestly, the performance is the same. So, I'm sort of not sure they know what a higher grade even is. Regardless, their customer service, as I mentioned a few times, is quite awful lol

I am incredibly curious about the castle arts watercolor pencils being tested by you because I trust your opinions so much. And they are the other budget watercolor pencils that I have had on my wish list for a long time. At this time only watercolor pencils I have are my Anna Valacci and I have not seen them anywhere on Amazon since.
How do they perform in terms of lightfastness ?
Well, as I mentioned in the video, these are budget. So, even if they had lightfast ratings, I personally do not believe the ratings they have given because they are not using artist-grade pigments here. So, you can definitely do your own testing to see true results, but I always caution against using these for commissioned art work because they are not going to have the lightfast you'd expect from higher end pencils
I make mixed media cards, and use coloured pencils for highlights. This set looks good. I wish I had bought this set rather then some of the sets giving me night terrors (mainly because the sets are just hanging around doing nothing useful). 🥰🇨🇦💜

the black barrels are pure garbage i sent my back due to the wood cracked right down the side making the pencil totally unusable. plus the black barreled are totally scratchy . thats the Kalours with the elephant on the tin. watercolored pencils
Yes, they are two different varieties. According to Kalour, these are their "better/best," however, I haven't heard many people say the black ones were any good.
