I love the Brutfuner macaron 50 pencils, they're pastel and half the price.
See I wasn't too happy in the quality of the macaroons. Mine had some scratchy parts too. But they are both great options no matter what :)
@@ColorfullyOptimistic I go by price a lot too. I have the Castle Art Pasteltint, not a fan.
@@RealMelodyBlue I have them too and wish I had returned them. Totally overpriced.
@@The_Lion_And_The_Lamb I love them, but some people like a soft pencil some like hard ones. It's usually how one reacts to that. They are worth it to me because I use mixed media and they don't budge with water, which to me is a big deal because that allows me to use wet mediums like water markers and watercolor paint, plus can spray it with a fixative to save it, you can't win Arteza or Castle Art Pasteltint colored pencils, the color washes out and becomes just a muddled mess. I only paid $20 for mine, Castle Art and Arteza are almost twice as high. Remember, the Brutfuner macaron are wax based, if you like oil based pencils I can see your frustration..
@@RealMelodyBlue I love the Brutfuner Macroons but hate the Castle Art Pasteltints (if they weren’t so expensive I wouldn’t be upset but I paid full price for them) and they just aren’t worth it.
A great update on the pastels pencils "game" . Thanks to you my mind is at ease I know I've got enough pastel pencils at home already .
You are so welcome!💜
Good review! I have the Pastelowe so I’d say I’m happy with what I have ❤️
Awesome! They are a cute pencil.
I love pastel colors but never bought a pastel specific set of pencils before. So delicious to spectate haha!
Yeah they are quite interesting when you get just a set. Surprisingly, they are quite versatile.
I like the order you put them in. I just bought these and I'm waiting for them to come so I was ya know, getting my dopamine hit by watching people use them lol and some others put them in orders that I didn't like. There's a lovely shade flow to your order and I'm going to copy it when I swatch mine. Thank you!!
Lmao I just realized you simply, put them in order by number! It makes sense why the other youtuber I was thinking of also complained about how the shades weren't in number order and I was confused.
Great review and I appreciate your recommendations at the end. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
That’s very useful, thank you. I still don’t have a pastel set but *need* one, so I’ll see if I can get either these or the Pastelowe for a low price
Yeah both are great choices!
Ah thank you for this! I love my Artezas and love pastel shades so I was VERY tempted. But I'd recently bought the Castle Arts pasteltints and I have the Brutfuner set as well, so I have one wax based and one oil based and they're both wonderful. So I really dont need these. Also I love the Arteza Experts, and I guess these are classics. Not sure what the difference is, if any. But it just put me off. I am very very happy with the sets I have and I've spent an incredible amount of money recently. I appreciate the in depth review, thank you so much!
Oh yeah, if you already have those other sets, you are good to go! These aren't bad at all, but like I said, if you already have sets, you aren't getting anything brand-new color-wise.
I have both of those sets also but the Brutfuner pastel pencils feel more waxy than oily don’t they?
Thanks for the comparisons, very helpful.
Of course!
Hi Kori! Thank You so much for the Review! Arteza Expert work good for Me, so I am a little bit excited about the Pastel Set! 👍🏻💜
You are so welcome! I love pastel pencils! So I can't help myself lol
Kori, You are such a Great Reviewer, You have helped several times. Thank You so much 💜
Great review, thanks! 💜
You are so welcome! Thank you for watching Deb💜
Thank you Kori this was interesting. I have them and I like them so far but haven't really played with them all that much. This is my only pastel set I have. But to be honest 1 set is probably good for me. Thank you for sharing this information .💚
No problem at all my dear!
They are so pretty 😍
Oh I agree! Definitely a gorgeous set.
The colors are great. The only thing I would like is names for the colored pencils. The regular set of colored has really cool names like peaches & cream, pink macaroon, robins egg blue.
Sadly no names on these, but who knows, they might add in the future.
Ah, I love watching your videos, really interesting. I wish you success always, dreat description
Thank you very much!
Thank you for the comparison, I will not be purchasing these since I have the others. I do love the pastel pencils though!
Oh I sure love them too! But yeah, I mean if you have some already, really not worth it. 💜
Thanks for this, interesting to see them in comparison to the others. these currently aren't available in the uk, we don't see to be getting much at the moment, we've none of the dual hybrid styled glitter Arteza pens, either, 🥲I've been waiting to get those for ages. Thankfully I don't need any more pastels, just not sure what's happening with Arteza in the UK. at least I can view them on here!👍
That is interesting! I didn't realize you couldn't get them out there right now. That's a bummer!
The expert and pro are different formulas. The round ones are always softer.
Yes true, but these were nice and soft considering. Granted, that could be filler :)
@@ColorfullyOptimistic tbh I can't find two versions of the pastels and they don't seem to be marked the same. For all I know they're expert formula with a pro barrel.
Succes la colorat
Very interesting videa, thank you
Thank you so much my dear!
I bought arteza and castle art and there colors I feel are the same. I haven't compared them to holbien or brutfuners yet but there all fun.
Yea they may have slight variations but it's hard to make a ton of new pastel colors. So most will overlap.
I’ve seen many comparisons of a lot of brands and to be honest they’re all pretty well the same. Some of the cheaper brands are quite probably made in the same factory! They’re all so pretty. The artist I saw compared to Holbein and they’re all pretty well identical in colour range to those as well. I’m looking for the ones closest to Prismacolor as I like a waxy feel but don’t want to spend Holbein prices for the amount I use!
Thats what I figured. I mean, there can only be so many pastel colors.. I have the pasteltints and the macaroons. Would you say they are smoother than than the pasteltints?
Great question. I, personally, find the Pasteltint smoother, but the price tag oof. LOL.
@@ColorfullyOptimistic yes, those hurt a bit, and it is a bummer that they aren't open stock. Castle art should offer open stock for their pencils. I do like their pencils products.
What is brand of sharpener?
Nice thanks! 💜💓 I love pastel swatching videos SM! 😋 unfortunately in Canada the arteza pastel set is not worth it 😕 it’s 70$ including tax, 57$ without tax. Way too much for a budget set of just 50 pencils (in my opinion anyway). I did a swatch & comp of my Brutfuners, Holbeins & the Kalour pastels which I had just got recently. I had previously avoided Kalour, I didn’t think there was a point in buying budget pencils when I already have a full set of Prismacolors & Holbeins, but I’m a sucker for anything pastel 😅 I can’t stand castle art pencils, they are terrible to colour with unless on premium paper so basically worthless to me 🙈 I thought kalour would be the same but so far don’t mind the Kalour pastels.. however, I haven’t tried them on cheap amazon paper yet 😅 so they might be crap too 🙈 but so far they seem to be EXACTLY the same as Brutfuner (except one scratchy blue pencil) & I don’t mind the Brutfuner macarons
The thing is once you use Holbein then you can really tell the rest are budget. It’s like the other sets seem fine but then you lay down some Holbein & it’s a world of difference. It’s weird cuz most people say if your just a casual colorer/ not a pro artist to skip them cuz of the price. I disagree cuz if you suck at blending they are a god sent, whereas a pro colorist could blend with anything & heck even make crayola look good! So I really don’t understand how anyone can not like Holbein?? 😯They are SO amazing!!!! They blend like butter 🧈 like they actually do, there are a lot of videos with people claiming other brands are buttery smooth but none really are & none compare to Holbein except Prismacolor. I have the Holbein set from Japan, not the North American formula. I think that might be the difference as if I remember correctly the videos I’ve seen where people weren’t amazed by Holbein all had the North American pencils. Either that or maybe people that don’t like them prefer a harder lead like Koi Nor? Which I don’t like. With Holbein you get a perfect lay down, no white or texture showing just pure thick buttery colour & I am obsessed! However because of the price I don’t end up using them as often as I probably should 🙈 so I’m glad to have the Brutfuners & Kalours for fun & just messing around with colour 😋 anyway girl spill the tea! I need to know why don’t you like Holbein??? Curious minds need to know 😸🦋🎨💘🍭
Yeah, sadly a lot of these US brands are too expensive for Canada I've heard.
A315 looks like a useful colour
They all are definitely pretty!
which one would you go for more which are nicer the braufuner or the castle arts ones which ones do i nicer job which one has nicer colours or would you say get the both of them
I really like the Castle Arts - just hate the price haa
I have Arteza Pastel Colored Pencils when you have time you should do a Pastel Colored pencils video ☺
Ha, I have an entire collection of pastel colored pencils. Oh my it would be quite the video.
@@ColorfullyOptimistic yes it would be a great video
I'm willing to bet most of these use the same cores and are from China like 95% of all budget colored pencils. I own the Brutfuner Macaroon and I think they're beautiful! The fact they look so similar to Holbeins is just funny to me. They were obviously trying to dupe them and I don't mind lol.
Oh I'm sure. I found it funny they copied but couldn't spell lol
Wish I could've seen the swatches without the texture of your wood table showing through.
I'm so happy you took the time to leave such an unnecessary comment. I'm sure on your channel you'll do it 100% right every time and please everyone better than I have here and never have to worry about seeing such unnecessary critiques of your hard work and free content.
I am so disappointed with this set. I'm glad I didn't buy these without looking them up. They aren't pastel. There are very few true pastel colors in this set.
I don't think they are awful, but they aren't amazing either lol. They are just like most of the pastel pencil sets really. A lot of the sets out there include non-pastel colors it seems.
