2:47 Why is it, labeled: DESIGNED in the USA - American flag - AMERICAN COMPANY but MADE IN CHINA? If I would have looked at it quickly I would have seen the American flag and just assumed that it was made in America, not just designed. Thanks as always for testing and giving your feedback, is greatly appreciated!!
Albrecht Dürer is my favorite brand, but speaking about the budget pencils, I rather have the General's Kimberly, even with their color selection which is way less than the Artisto, just because the GK can be bought open stock. I stopped buying art supplies that cant be bought open stock cause once a color one really likes or needs is finished, the only option is to buy a whole new set! I refuse to do that. That aside, Im impressed with the Artisto performance. Thx for this video. ❤
Thank you Jennifer!!! I remember my Artisto as being pretty excellent! Then I tried Castle Arts watercolor pencils... not as good... left marks on the paper after using the water!!! I finally bought Faber Castell colored pencils 36 set and Albrecht Durer 36 set. Colors match!!! Happy camper! My granddaughters are enjoying the Artisto 72 set!!! Right now the Artisto 48 watercolor set is 25% off... fyi! Great to see you ❤️! A California Gramma 🎉
Hello ya all. I have been gone for a few but my love is watercolor pencils with my mixed media art. I can manipulate them to do amazing things. But I have to say the music in the beginning is a little distracting cuz it takes away from what you are saying which for me is really important. I can be having a real anxiety driven episode and I tune in to one of your videos and you calm me right down so thank-you for that. I appreciate you guys .
I've heard good things about the Artisto watercolor pencils and am glad to see your review of them! I have the Derwent Inktense pencils which I love! I also have a few of their watercolor pencils which I use for under painting and sketching in outlines that I don't want to show. I will keep them for those purposes but not invest outside of the colors for those purposes. Thank you so much for your reviews!
Great video. It was informative. I just ordered Artisto pencils from last week battle of the 12 best brands. Now I got to get the watercolor set. And yes, please do more about water soluble pencils and techniques. thanks so much
Hello I am new here and I so appreciate this review. I am a watercolor artist but I am drawn to do my sketches before watercolor with watercolor pencil. I love that your fur baby was there when you started. Love and light to you all
I bought the 48 set of Artisto regular pencils after watching the talk about the regular pencils. I like them, they work well. Found that they might not have correct color name. Sky blue is labeled Castleton Blue. When I found the real Castleon Blue I realized that it was really sky blue - by the number. I don't know if other companies do this also. My pencils were out of any kind of order but that doesn't bother me. (The person who packed the tins probably doesn't get paid enough to worry about that and any one can reorganize them. I may put them in a case anyway). I also have Castle Arts which I like. I had them first so they are my favorites. I bought Prismacolor and did use a couple times. I must not want to use the Prismacolors up too fast because I do use these Artisto and Castle Arts more often - especially CA pastel ones which are beautiful.
Thank you Jennifer! I really love your channel! The way you and Steve blend art with science is just fascinating and I appreciate so much all that I am learning from your videos! ❤
Hey, I wanted to tell you Jenifer I got the watercolor pencils by Astro whatever it’s called you are not wrong. They are awesome pencils and 20 something dollars for 72 watercolor pencils that you can literally put your brush too and the colors so intense oh my gosh, they’re beautiful. You are so right about that.
Hullo Jennifer & Steve, with Rose! I do enjoy watching your testing procedures. I have been using watercolor pencils since I was 12. I went to my local art store and the only brand they had were Koh-I-noor. I was told that was the only brand they carried, so I thought it was the only one! I did not even hear of Albrecht Durer pencils! The Magnus line of Faber Castell’s have become my very favorite brand of watercolor pencils! I do wonder when other companies decided to create watercolor pencils? Thank you for sharing all of your thoughts and ideas on these pencils.
I'm super curious why do you prefer abrecht durer over mondeluz. To be completely honest I haven't tried the farber castell ones, but I've got supras, and museum, and i just cannot imagine choosing them over the koh i noor😅
@@zdzislawaprzyborska5653 The amount of actual pigment is much higher in the Faber pencils, in most of their lines of pencils! Just working with them is easier too.
Thank you Jennifer, I love my Albrecht durer, and Generals, but the Artisto impressed me enough i bought 2 sets, one for home and one for travel!!! I did not want t risk losing or damage to AD while out and about......I Enjoy Generals, but only 24 pencils.....ugh.....
Thank you, Jennifer! It was great to see how Artisto's w/c pencils stacked up vs ABs. Ohmygoodness - little Rose is as cute as ever!!! I'd be like - "Ohhh, do you want a treat? Ok, here you go!" every time she gave me that sweet look, hehehe. 🥰🥰🥰
Hi Jennifer, really enjoyed this video and your results. I’m a big fan of Albert! I have the full set. To which I adored. Not sure whether I can buy the artist set as I’m in Australia. But I do know we import a lot of products from China so just based on that it is highly suggestive that I might be able to get Artist Pencils from Amazon Australia. Well as least I’m hoping. ❤
Lindsay the frugal crafter compared these with several brands and seems to compare well. The problem is no open stock. But they last forever. I have the Faber Castell Durer(?)and love them. I don't think you can go wrong for the price. If you use up a color here and there you can always pick up an open stock brand.
Agreed, and yes buy an open stock of best brand when a color runs out. Also add a few open stock of missing colors you might like. I really like bigger sets of 120, but the price of best Faber Castrell Albrecht Durer is 270 in Canada. A little goes further in watercolor so the pencils should last longer. Maybe by then Artisto will have a 120 set.
There are more colors! The two sets 72+72 -I’ve been using these as my primary set, “2-fer” like you said! So fun now Im coloring obsessed and researching non watercolor sets…and see there are no duplicate colors between the two Artisto 72 sets! so 144 !! maybe check out the balance with your system if you please? curious ❤❤❤ thanks 🙏
you recently did a video about best 3 budget videos and none of them were polychromos which is something i am curious about since I am new but have recently found a set called star joy gold 120 set that claiming to be polychromos and seems like a relatively budget friendly set often going on sale often apparently also it seems like they are created with artist in mind as well as beginners i wonder if they could give faber castell a run for their money or would be a good substitute for beginners and budget
So interesting and surprising! Thank you for this video! I have a question regarding the custom swatch book ordering. Would it be possible to get a mix of Color Pencil paper, water based marker paper, alcohol marker paper, etc.? My goal is to have one swatch book with all my sets (minus those for black paper) but honestly...maybe with black too?? in one book. I love your videos and the products! And Rose, not the snake, just Rose! :) Thank you for the great quality and equity based video
Good comparison, thanks so much. I love the color wheel on the wall behind you, is the pattern available for purchase/download and did you do a video on making it?
Hi Jennifer and Steve, and little Rose. Great video. Not sure how much you paid for them in the US, but here in the UK as of today price on amazon the 72 set of colouring pencils is £56 and a pack of 48 watercolour's is £84. They may be lovely pencils but for something that is marketed at beginner level for tHt price i would rather get Faber castell or blak widows hope you understand. all the best.
@@jG-iw2gb Aye thats the problem with amazon. I'm sure there must be some brands here that are super expensive for you guys. The thing i tell myself with some of these brands like artistrro nyoni and markart is they are all the same thing "white labelled" that quells the want it beast for a bit. thank you for replying.
I Selfies think it’s so funny that Derwent was so in capable of making a good watercolour pencil, that they just gave up and decided to create a whole new type of water soluble pencil instead.
I guess it is what you are looking for! As a large choices of 120 colors, Faber Castell is still the best! As having a strong pigmentation due to theirs quality, Faber Castell is the best! But if you are having a low budget to invest Artisto is best! What about lightfast pigmentation, I am doubting Artisto might be the winner! 😊
I just bought the Artisto set last week because I wanted a large set that I could feel free to experiment with and not feel precious about. I’m glad to see you rated them so highly!
I don’t know how but they knocked you off my subscription huuuuumm! And I didn’t do that maybe others had that issue I hardly ever comment so I don’t think you could’ve thrown me out. Maybe you did.? anyways I thought you should know that

Bought them (2) since last week. As a Prisma Color Lover, Artisto’s are highly recommend😊😊😊
Wow! I'm surprised also. I, for one, would love more videos using wet mediums. :)
Best comparisons online! Very impressed.

I had to go back to this video, it’s such a great learning tool! It helped to teach me what I’m looking for in a watercolor pencil!

I would love a video of coloring with water soluble pencils.
If like to see watercolor pencil techniques so I can get some use out of the Faber castle pencils
Me, too!
Very surprising, thank you both, Rose too!
Thank you for your coloring wisdom. Subscribed! Yes to more on water soluble materials.

Happy Birthday sweet Rosie.
I love that color wheel in your background. Is that available on your website?
I wish you could rank them from perspective of softness, just like you did with the regular colour pencils.

Lightfastness?
What watercolor pencil set (and other equipment ie sponge brushes etc) would you recommend for a beginner getting set up for first time?

I was surprised that the Artisto watercolor (and colored) pencils are very good budget friendly pencils!
What do you do with all the art supplies that you buy but don't actually use??
Thank u for testing these. Did they end up coinciding with the names and #’s of the regular pencils?
I can't seem to find the watercolor pencils on Amazon...even on Artistro store! Anyone know anything?
I Selfies think it’s so funny that Derwent was so in capable of making a good watercolour pencil, that they just gave up and decided to create a whole new type of water soluble pencil instead.
I'm curious why do you prefer regular colour pencils since the watercolor one's allow you to skip the harsh chemicals during blending
I’ve never used solvents to blend. Perhaps I’ve a new technique to learn? (Chemicals and all?)
Thank you!
And better or worse with arteza?

music way too loud - sorry just sensitive to sounds under people talking
I have a feeling these are similiar to the Castle Arts I already own. What do you think?
Hmm. I wonder. I have that set also. Arteza too. I think I need to color swatch them both and see how much vibrancy there is to them. 😊
I prefer an easy to lift watercolor pencils
The Artists almost remind me more of Inktense.
