They are all very very lovely. I think I would love to see Pablo Mandala’s. I have a few Pablos and combine watercolor with colored pencils so I really go through the pencils. I have the Polychromos and many of the Luminance and Lightfast and Holbein. They are not full sets but I work in between the colors. Sometimes I use drafting film too so the more oil based ones work better on that. But I learned a trick that you might enjoy. I get headaches from oms(odorless mineral spirits) and we don’t have true great blender pens so I use the Caran ‘de ache waterbrush, the one with the fibrous pointy marker tip. To fill them the top unscrews and you syringe up your blender. I use 125 neutral thin cause it causes no headaches. When you screw on the marker tip there are dispenser buttons on the sides. It is the only waterbrush made this way. This wets but not overly wets the tip and you can use the side or the tip to blend. How do you clean it? Just dispense a bit more and wipe on a napkin and cap it. I throw it in my bag and I don’t have to worry about messy thinners or mineral spirits spilling out. The 125 neutral thin blends just like Gamsol but without any smell or sneaking out of the container or oily feel. So I keep 2 handy and the liquid goes so much further with no residue or breathing issues. I would use Zest it but we don’t have it here in the US. I really have been enjoying your tutorials and you work so hard. Your books that you put together for color picking are a fabulous way to learn color theory. I do pastels and charcoal also and got very behind recently with health issues. Thank you for your kindness in sharing what you have learned. I am always happy to share what I have learned and was so relieved about the new blender pen homemade style and that it stays completely intact with no leaking using the marker long tip. And if it works for you it’s your tip too.

Hello Jennifer, Steve, and Rose! I just found your channel a few weeks ago and I am loving the content. I love that you work on the content together as husband and wife, you're so fortunate! I also love that little Rose gets to hang out and chill in the craft space. I have my fur babies with me when I'm working now that I've had to work from home. I am fortunate and grateful for that.
Thank you for the fun and informative videos!

Wow what a collection of products. Was interesting to see how everything looked on black paper. Prismacolors definitely stood out. I really like the pan pastels too. And there were several others that looked great but I have forgotten the names as I was not that familiar with most of them. You have the best videos. I love all the hard work you put in to them. 😀

I felt that Spectrum Noir metallics had the most depth of color & the most shine on black paper. Surprisingly Crayola metallics which were right below the Spectrum Noir swatches. I love Intense as well (but on white) Thanks for showing us how they look on black. Shockingly as you & Steve said, I’ll stick to white paper. I also was disappointed with Faber Castell Polychromos performance on black paper, so I will stick to white paper. This demo was really great because I like to experiment & always (yes, always) make swatches of all my pencils & w.c. Paints. I also refer to my swatch pages & can’t conceive of not using them & in trios of light, medium, dark. I often make little swatches in strips alongside my painting so I put the other pencils I won’t be using away along with the big swatch sheets. Good job on this one. Very helpful. Jewell

Hello! found your channel last week. About 8 years back i was feeling really down in college and i went to the art store n stumbled upon black paper. First time seeing it in a sketch book form, even if i knew it existed. N i fell I loved with it. I tired the pastel pencils with it. Stabilo ones i think and they were amazing! I still get excited to work on black paper. I like how pastels remains vibrant on black paper. Only they fade away if they r not sealed.
I was surprised how colour pencils performed on it.
Thanks for taking your time to swatch and show us. I now know what to look for when doing art on black paper.

Thank you for doing this, the colored pencil section was super helpful to me, and I would imagine the other mediums are equally helpful to folks who focus on them, too. What a time and money saver, honestly, this can help an artist make a decision they're on the fence about ;)

I took too long and didn't manage to squeeze my vote into the live chat... (though no surprise since my comments keep lagging behind!) So, I vote the Faber Castell metallic pencils! Or else the Daler Rowney metallic paints (or are they inks??)... whatever they are, those would be good too! Thanks again for another awesome video! :)

The reason why some pencils look darker on black than they do on white paper is because not all pencils are equally as opaque. Transparent pigments rely on the white of the paper to show up as the colors that we expect.
The binder of colored pencils is clear and there's barely any/no filler in our beloved "artist grade" pencils, so opacity depends entirely on the pigment(s) used.
Look into masstone of pigments if you really want to understand the mystery. It's a lot to explain here and you might not even care. Just wanted to shed some light on the subject. :)

You wondered why some colours of the Polychromos appear changed. The Midtones here look like darktones because the pigment is more transparent and the black background looks through

We are very patient with a lot of perseverance and tenacity for testing so much art materials mediums through out the years, that I am wondering when you have time to do art for yourself! Anyway, even if that I stopped being one of your followers, due to the fact that I couldn’t use anymore crayon bc of my under-tendons of my fingers had been all ruptured in my both hands with rheumatoid arthritis, I have to chose the oil pastels for doing professional artworks which it is easier to hold them (with an holder depending when I am using them like a crayon sometimes) on my papers with different techniques to use them! But, once a while I am coming on your channel to watch yours new comparative tests that you’re performing and yours conclusions which they are interesting always. Keep doing your work the way like it is and keep yourself safe and the people around you in this pandemic situation with all my wishes lucky in your life with health and fate in God! Good working and interesting conclusions always!

Brush markers and/or Brush pens; I am curious about brush markers (the sponge tip ones, not the ones that have paint brush tips.) I had the crayola ones, but wasn't very happy with what I got for the money. And somehow I got a set of 5 brush markers by scholar along with a pack of 24 color pencils.
I wish someone...(hint hint!) would gather up a bunch of different brush tip pens and brush tip markers and show the variations, like some have a kind of paint brush tip, others have a sponge tip, and then there's double ended ones like the tombows, and the scholar ones only have the brush tip end.
and if this sort of thing has been done already I would appreciate youtube title of the videos if any.

Posca paint pens are the most overrated art supply..I Don't get the hype there is nothing special about them.. getting a a random brand off Amazon will work the same if not better. The sharpie oil based paint pens are a million times betterment then posca paint pens.
I really like those acrylic inks I want to try those
