      @@ZPrezton Hey, I made sure the two (central) battery holes were aligned and used a little blu tack under the battery ribbon connection to ensure circuit connectivity; given there was a load of glue there from the factory. Also, don’t forget to make sure the circuit screws around the battery connection are tight (I always go anti-clockwise first to find the original thread). Hope that helps.👍

    So, stupid question but:
    This doesnt look EASY by any means but, to me not any worse than for example on an iPad or similar. The worst part seems to be the kinda fragile screen, kinda very tough glue used for the screen but again, doesnt really seem any worse than an ipad.
    So why is this specific repair so infamous?
    I did replace the battery on my old ipad 4 before and feel relatively confident about this or is there something im missing? I have literally seen shops straight up refuse to work on the surface 4 for some reason.
    Does anyone have a hot tip there?

    Any advise? I installed a new battery from Amazon in my Surface Pro 4. After I was done my battery icon has a X and states "no battery connected" BUT, I was able to unplug my Surface Pro and it DID run off the battery for most the day (even though it said "no battery connected"). Once the new battery drained it shut off and only works plugged in now. It wont charge, and still doesn't detect the battery. I know it was connected enough to run for a day with the new battery, but wont detect the new hardware. I thought maybe needs a driver install but I cant find a software update for a 3rd party battery. I tried to uninstall the battery driver and re-install but that didn't work. Any suggestions?

    • @SBRepair
      @SBRepair  9 месяцев назад +1

      Unfortunately, this problem occurs when the battery socket is not seated properly or the chip on it is damaged. Generally, it is necessary to put a plastic piece at the bottom of the socket during the removal process, because the surface case is metal and can short circuit.

    • @prodigalsonapparel
      @prodigalsonapparel 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@SBRepair Thank you so much for the response. If I try to re-seat it and that doesnt work, would a new battery solve the issue , if I'm more careful with the install?

    • @SBRepair
      @SBRepair  9 месяцев назад

      Normally, this problem is usually a short circuit problem. First, remove the battery and perform the updates while on the power supply without battery, then plug in the battery. After removing the battery, do not forget to put a piece of plastic under the socket (short circuit prevention).

Watching this video I didn't see you reattaching the fan contacts that you unclipped at 8:16. Think I'll be making a list of stuff done during disassembly so I can assure myself everything is back as it should be... easy thing to miss and a nightmare as you have to take the screen back off again.

    • @SBRepair
      @SBRepair  Год назад

      yes, this battery replacement is a very difficult repair. Especially after removing the battery, it is important that the battery socket on the motherboard does not come into contact with the metal part on the bottom, otherwise it will short-circuit.

      @@SBRepair Did a successful repair this weekend, thanks to your video. Had little choice as battery swelling caused screen to start doing shadowing etc and probably close to exploding. Used plenty of insulation of the motherboard whilst the battery was carefully removed and new battery & ribbon cable stuck down. Removed almost all motherboard screws and managed to get a good 1cm of workspace underneath, wedging up with some plastic tools. Did a quick SSD upgrade at same time, 256gb to 1TB (£40!). it is very easy to remove motherboard you must first remove the long plastic antenne. Then it take not much time. or you can also short the battery with some soldering plus with minus. The battery become 0V and you have no risk.

      @@sirJayGee I put a piece of plastic in the 10th minute of the video. In order to do this correctly, it is necessary to put a plastic piece on the battery connection part.

      @@muhammedeneskatmer6760 Thanks for making the video. Could you elaborate on the 10th minute of the video where you put the blue plastic pick. I assume the plastic pick keeps the motherboard from grounding to the tablet body until the battery is disconnected. I just bought a new battery and their instruction says to remove the motherboard. I prefer your method so I just want to make sure. Thank you.

      @@osamabeenllama3021 This is a very high fee. You can buy a used version of this product at this price. actually the battery is not expensive, but it is a difficult product to repair, so we know it around 120€.
