    I really like that they are bringing out RC helicopters that look like real ones. There was the Huey, the Blackhawk, the small Bölkow BO-105 and now the Hughes MD500E, which is the lastest version of the helicopter that many may know from the original Magnum P.I. TV series. Very cool. Personally, I never liked most of the RC helicopters since they looked more like flying alien aircraft that anything real...but that is just me.

    I have this RC Heli. I'm pretty sure it's collective pitch over fixed pitch like alot of the cheap helicopters. I know this because when you test the controls with the controller on the ground, the throttle button changes the pitch of the blades. On a fixed pitch helicopter, nothing would happen when you hit the throttle. It would just increase speed of the motor when its rotating. But it's not traditional manual collective pitch like many of the more advanced RC helicopters. It's somewhat automated with the altitude hold and now they are making them with optical flow, which I need a brighter day to fully test that. I got the Optical flow and figured if I didint like, I could figure out how to disconnect it. It was like $8 more than without.

    For those who plan to buy one:
    Just finished assembling (and flying) mine. About the time I put the 11th (out of 12) microscopic screws into just one side of the rocket pods, I realized that I should have just glued them. Result: The first rocket pod took me 45 minutes of back-breaking close-up work; the second took me 7 minutes. I glued the guns & rocket pods together, and glued them into the bottom of the wing, then used the last 4 screws to mount them.
    Or, just leave 'em off.
    (If you've seen this comment elsewhere, I'm adding it to every (in-depth) review of this heli.)

That got me into the FPV drone building hobby with race-quads and Tiny whoops, but I always configured betaflight to have the rudder on the right stick because I was so used to flying these damn cheap coaxial copters. Is the left stick throttle and yaw and right stick pitch and rudder? Seems like it would be easy to add a 5.8ghz FPV cam to the nose. That would be fun to fly!

    there seems to be none around lately.

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  11 месяцев назад +1

      I have reviewed plenty that meet that criteria. For the type of stability a total beginner needs would be GPS, so look for a helicopter that also has GPS. Only downside is you then can only fly outdoors and prices are higher. If you have a tiny bit of hand/eye coordination skills when using joysticks then you could look for a much less expensive helicopter with optical flow and altitude hold (that will give you indoor/outdoor stability positioning when there is no wind).

    Thank you for your videos, I have a problem i've been struggling with for a while now. I collect, build and modify existing toys from popular toy lines like G.I. Joe's, into RC's. I have been trying to merge helicopter RC world with toy lines but cant understand the scale system used in the Helicopter RC Hobby World. RC helicopters sold as scale helicopters never list the actual scale they are measured to. I understand they may be advertising, scaled as in accurate to real world, but if so why not list the actual scale it is representing? This one in your Video list it at 1/28 and is rare to see that and looks to be more in the 1/22 or 1/20 scale. In the G.I. Joe universe for example the 1/18 scale, every 1 inch equals 18 in real life (based on a 6 foot standard height person) a 4 inch figure would equate to 72 inches. Same with 1/12 scale figures and 1/6 scale. now I understand that the metric vs imperial systems may offer some obstacles. The standard of RC's scales commonly listed are 500, 450, 600 of which I am assuming equates to mm size from nose to tail in length or rotor diameter? The question of the fuselage scale still remains. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I don't mind things being simple for Joe Average, but they shouldn't limit the fun of those who have experience & want more in the process.

      @greg0063 Год назад

      I agree, I can't do 3d but do fly in 3 axis, acro, no auto level, whatever you want to call it. Would it be that hard to shut it off. These things look great but the 6 axis only kills it for me. Also it could probably be bound to a Tx16s but I don't know if you can change the modes or set no auto level. Until I see the hack I wouldn't get it.

      @@cheezycornelius275I guess it depends on how bad the crash is. If on grass it should not be too bad if not at high speed. I have not checked for parts but most helis do usually have parts available (often on Aliexpress)

    so could you trim it out or stablize it or not

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  Год назад +1

      You can trim, but honestly no one ever trims helicopters because they fly with the wind. If indoors in a super large room, then trim would have an effect.

    Unfortunately I crashed mine yesterday,haven't wrote it completely off but it's damaged and needs major components replaced but I can't be bothered so I have ordered a c129 v2 which looks much stronger and should handle not good landings just fine or anything else,my md500 is in its box in pieces lol.

    Heli sieht super aus. Gut gemacht! Aber die langen Werbeunterbrechungen nerven total.

    So I’ve been doing some research on RUclips pretty much I have determined that 67 g is too much for this heli.
    I’m surprised with the Insta 360 only weighing 18 grams it was still too much for this helicopter. Placement must be critical then. Like you say the CG. Hmmm

    With the weight back on the tail boom that’s like flying a turbine helicopter with a fire in three miniature or disintegrate

    hey Mate can you get this heli in Mode 1 ?

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  7 месяцев назад +1

      If the joysticks on the included radio that comes with the heli are both centered when you receive it, it means you change the modes in the method the instructions tell you to.
