I really like that they are bringing out RC helicopters that look like real ones. There was the Huey, the Blackhawk, the small Bölkow BO-105 and now the Hughes MD500E, which is the lastest version of the helicopter that many may know from the original Magnum P.I. TV series. Very cool. Personally, I never liked most of the RC helicopters since they looked more like flying alien aircraft that anything real...but that is just me.
A decent upcoming ie, more helis pls, Helicopter Pilot . We are being smothered by scale models & I am loving it. Yes, Fly close, easy on the sticks & chill . Enjoy the realizm.

My favorite helicopter of all time!! 😍👍Finally, they came out with this model, which is not at all common in most hobby stores!! Very impressive flights, and looks very easy to fly!👍Would love to have one. How much is this model?
Well done Captain!; another RC option to consider!; good to see Tractor Man back in action !!!; a very "cool" looking Copter, particularly with the amazing sky's you are experiencing and using as a backdrop; now, if we could just see a DJI Inspire 2 with a similar mother nature outcome !!!!!!!!
Great fun... thanks for posting! Yes, helicopters have a very narrow Center of Mass tolerance... for example the Jet Ranger has a minimum pilot weight of around 150lbs... but these days that's not a problem for most people....lol
you can ditch that radio and use a multiprotocol with your tx16 or other radio with module bay. but this radio makes sense. because with my tx16, my throttle is not spring loaded and it causes some jerky movements for this model, since its automated.
wonderful I liked it a lot! Do you think it is possible to install a flysky receiver and control? Is it possible to install a higher quality esc? I'm a little suspicious of the quality of the stock electronics... thanks for sharing
Some are having auto take-off issues...Like straight up to the moon auto take-off. Not an issue with yours. Makes me wonder if they are moving one of the controls too soon when using the auto take-off option. Nice MD500 rc heli.
I have this RC Heli. I'm pretty sure it's collective pitch over fixed pitch like alot of the cheap helicopters. I know this because when you test the controls with the controller on the ground, the throttle button changes the pitch of the blades. On a fixed pitch helicopter, nothing would happen when you hit the throttle. It would just increase speed of the motor when its rotating. But it's not traditional manual collective pitch like many of the more advanced RC helicopters. It's somewhat automated with the altitude hold and now they are making them with optical flow, which I need a brighter day to fully test that. I got the Optical flow and figured if I didint like, I could figure out how to disconnect it. It was like $8 more than without.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Idk but i noticed that a lot of RC ERA PRODUCTS SAY THEY HAVE OPTICAL FLOW ON THE BOX SAYS IT & THE DISCRIPTIONS BUT WHEN YOU GET IT IT DOESN'T HAVE IT LIKE YOU SAID JUST A HOLE IN IT WITH NO OPTICAL FLOW THAT'S FALSE ADVERTISING 🤔💯
Hey Captain! Could you make a video of the Cfly faith mini vs. the new Potensic atom se with the 3 axis gimbal? I want to buy one of these and your input is very valuable to me. You are the king of drones, without question!!

For those who plan to buy one: Just finished assembling (and flying) mine. About the time I put the 11th (out of 12) microscopic screws into just one side of the rocket pods, I realized that I should have just glued them. Result: The first rocket pod took me 45 minutes of back-breaking close-up work; the second took me 7 minutes. I glued the guns & rocket pods together, and glued them into the bottom of the wing, then used the last 4 screws to mount them. Or, just leave 'em off. (If you've seen this comment elsewhere, I'm adding it to every (in-depth) review of this heli.)
Everything you said is great but as I fly helis, I know they often require repair parts. For this model, are they readily available in local hobby stores? If not, I would prefer to spend money on a name brand helicopter
Nice review! I remember buying cheap Syma IR coaxial copters and then quadcopters almost 15 yrs ago. That got me into the FPV drone building hobby with race-quads and Tiny whoops, but I always configured betaflight to have the rudder on the right stick because I was so used to flying these damn cheap coaxial copters. Is the left stick throttle and yaw and right stick pitch and rudder? Seems like it would be easy to add a 5.8ghz FPV cam to the nose. That would be fun to fly!
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 I think toy makers simply refer to two different flying modes as mode 1 and 2 for simplicity's sake, but technically, I think what I'm talking about is actually know as mode 4, whereas most drone pilots in the US fly mode 2 and a lot of Europeans fly mode 1

Only downside is you then can only fly outdoors and prices are higher. If you have a tiny bit of hand/eye coordination skills when using joysticks then you could look for a much less expensive helicopter with optical flow and altitude hold (that will give you indoor/outdoor stability positioning when there is no wind).

Thank you for your videos, I have a problem i've been struggling with for a while now. I collect, build and modify existing toys from popular toy lines like G.I. Joe's, into RC's. I have been trying to merge helicopter RC world with toy lines but cant understand the scale system used in the Helicopter RC Hobby World. RC helicopters sold as scale helicopters never list the actual scale they are measured to. I understand they may be advertising, scaled as in accurate to real world, but if so why not list the actual scale it is representing? This one in your Video list it at 1/28 and is rare to see that and looks to be more in the 1/22 or 1/20 scale. In the G.I. Joe universe for example the 1/18 scale, every 1 inch equals 18 in real life (based on a 6 foot standard height person) a 4 inch figure would equate to 72 inches. Same with 1/12 scale figures and 1/6 scale. now I understand that the metric vs imperial systems may offer some obstacles. The standard of RC's scales commonly listed are 500, 450, 600 of which I am assuming equates to mm size from nose to tail in length or rotor diameter? The question of the fuselage scale still remains. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hey good morning I been looking for something like That would you recommend this product And do you know if it comes in the colors from the TVShow Magnum PI let me know please thanks

I agree, I can't do 3d but do fly in 3 axis, acro, no auto level, whatever you want to call it. Would it be that hard to shut it off. These things look great but the 6 axis only kills it for me.
