    I had purchased one of those Pentax 110 cameras overseas when I was in the Navy around 1980-81. I still have the camera and three of the smaller lenses. In fact the lenses are sitting right here on my table while I'm watching your video. I dug them out of my closet a few minutes ago after I started watching this video. I'll be getting those adapters and filters to mount them on my Canon EOS M50. Thanks. Now I will be able to use the lenses again. It will be really awesome to see how they perform. I knew there was a reason I kept those old lenses! Great video! 🤗

    I have a line on a 110 with 7 “like new” lenses, one of them being a 1.7 teleconverter. I’m so excited! I have offered $40 site unseen for the lot but I may have to shell out a bit more if the seller has done some research. Looking forward to designing some images with all the quirky interesting character they seem to have.

    You perked my interest in these again! I think I had dismissed them for some reason(I remember I was looking for a wide angle lens and started looking at c-mount lenses when I came across these) and now they're on my short list! I actually have the Pentax Cosmicar 4.8mm f1.8 2/3" monofocal lens(like the pan focus where everything is in focus all the time) that I love and use regularly because its so wide and easy to use. Great vlogging lens being a roughly 18mm equivalent - you just put it on and aim and you dont have to mess with anything because once you stop it down a bit and fix exposure everything is sharp and in focus(for someone that has 30+ lenses and only 2 have autofocus I shoot in manual most of the time and this is a a feature that brings my attention away from the camera to what I'm actually shooting).

      I actually have a special adapter with an aperture/iris system built-in I bought from RJ Camera (known for some of the earliest affordable focal reducers).
      That set me back $75 bucks a couple of years ago. Still listed: www.rjcamera.com/ocart/index.php?route=product/product&path=20_27&product_id=50 , not sure if he's active anymore though, shoot him an e-mail.

    There is a sweet 75mm lens on eBay right now in the canon tv-16 line. The seller is selling essentially new old stock. I just got one and am super impressed the thing is absolutely like brand new. I don’t know how many of them he has but the auction is still up. If you are in the market for a vintage lens in this focal length check it out. The seller is in south bend Indiana if that helps find it. I got mine for $80 with shipping. It’s a c-mount so it is relatively small too. No vignette on apps-c.

    I usually don't buy vintage lenses online at all, when sold online people can very easily Google how much they're worth whereas in charity shops or car boot sales you can get far better deals. I got a pentax pk 50mm f1.4, a carl zeiss jena 50mm f2.8, an smc takumar 150mm f4 and a pentax k1000 for €40.

    • @astroturd
      @astroturd 3 года назад +2

      I'm trying to do something similar, actually inspired by your comment. I have the 24mm f2.8 lens, and a Ulanzi 1.33x anamorphic adapter designed for phones. I'm trying to put them in front of my EOS M50 to try to get some anamorphic photos and video.
      Only issue atm is that Pentax 110 to EF-M adapters seem to be under a rock. I'm currently waiting on my fourth(!) order to make it to me. All three previous orders didn't make it or were cancelled for various reasons. Anyway, the anamorphic adapter can't really be mounted directly to the lens if you want to refocus during shooting, because the front element of the lens rotates while focusing. What I will do instead is get a 52mm filter adapter for the anamorphic lens and mount the filter adapter somewhere externally so that the anamorphic adapter just "floats" in the air in front of the Pentax lens. But I can't really start designing that until I have the lens adapter for the Pentax lens. I'm confident that the basic idea will work, since I can put the anamorphic adapter right in front of the 24mm lens so that they touch, similarly to how it works with phones, and the pentax front element isn't that much bigger than a phone camera lens. 24mm fov with an APS-C sensor is around 38mm full-frame equivalent, which is tighter than typical phone cameras which are 24-28mm equivalent, so hopefully there won't be any vignetting. There's also always the option of shaving material off from the back of the anamorphic adapter if it needs to be closer or have a larger opening in the back.

    Man I wish Pentax did video better. They’re well underrated as a real solid, user focussed camera system manufacturer.

    Thank you for posting. Did you try them on a FF sony (in crop mode?)? If so, how did you like the results?

    I got a kit online thinking I would get an unused camera with the 18, 24 and 50mm in the original box and for 105$. Turns out I got all of that and a second box with a second unused camera and a 24mm lens!

    How is it even possible that these things cover APS-C. The 24mm is as big as your thumb. 😂

      I'd expect them to only work with micro four thirds cause 110 film negatives are similar size

    Are you giving 35mm equivalent focal lengths?

      Simply double the size. 18mm = 36mm. 24mm = 48mm.

    Is the video footage color graded and did you use any filters? I feel like all of them feel a little like they have a pro mist filter on
