    I love these silly little lenses. So much fun. Which one was your fave?

      I have 4 of them 18mm,24mm, 50mm and the 70mm. The 18mm and 70mm are probably a favorite can´t make up my mind which one I like more. B&W photos that I took on my Olympus Pen F using the Art filter B&W settings using the 18mm made the photos look like they where shoot on film the lens adds this vintage vibe to that preset. I took the 70mm out on a shoot in the surroundings of Reykjavik pond while it being frozen and snow all around I manage to take some really nice shots this last march that I was very happy with I don´t think I could have come up with these results using any other lens. For a period of time I felt like these lenses where all I ever needed or wanted. :-)

      @@ominchord I’ve been bargain hunting for the 70mm for ages - it’s definitely a favourite as it seems more expensive than the rest! I’ll get it one day 😁🙏

    Thank you for the video and the tip with the ND filters. I have bought the 3 lenses and the other two 110 lenses - the 70mm and the 20 - 40mm zoom over the last 3 years. You are absolutely right, these little lenses give the photos warm colors and a distintictive vintage look. I love them more than any other vintage lenses I have, you can not go more compact with your setup.

    I got the 18 & 50 from the local used camera shop here in the Philippines for about $20 USD. Yes, they are "soft". They work well with my Pen 10 and E-M5ii. The adapters add another $20 USD. I can't get a filter to fit the 18, but I will probably glue on a 30-37mm adapter or perhaps the 32-37mm adapter. I'm testing them with INFRARED filters.

    I haven't used my Pentax 110 lenses much on MFT, TBH. But I also like using Olympus Pen F (the original half frame SLR) lenses which are also made for roughly the same sensor/film size. They are probably a bit more expensive but offer adjustable aperture.

    So, I went with the Urth 37mm ND2-400 1-8.6 Stop Variable ND filter. Any yes the 50mm lens is 37.5mm. But it was easy to find a step down ring on eBay for just a few dollars. There’s no vignetting, It only took a single step up ring for the other two lenses. These little lenses are ready for bright light. Btw the 18 and 50 are sharpest. My 24 is a bit soft

    @minolta4life831 2 года назад

    I have a Pentax 25mm f1.4 C-Mount lens. It does vignette but if you crop in a little it's fine. Also on a Panasonic GH4 its better because the GH4 crops in anyway when recording in 4K.

    This is so neat! I have a Pentax 110 with the 18mm lens, and I had no idea that you could use it in on micro four thirds camera. Definitely going to try it with my Olympus OMD EM 10.

  • @DonBryantPhotography
    @DonBryantPhotography Год назад

    These lenses can be used for a fun diversion, but the absence of an adjustable aperture is too limiting for me. That's one of the fantastic things about micro four thirds, the choice of affordable interesting lenses.

    My first thought anytime someone talks about lenses with "character" is that if you want images with soft corners or distortion, you can probably do it in post using a "clinical" lens. Have you ever tried doing this, and if so, how close are the results? I get that there's an emotional factor to using lenses that weren't designed for the system. But outside of that, what is the real advantage to going this route?

    • @EnerGeezerSquirrel
      @EnerGeezerSquirrel 2 года назад

      What are the advantages of Lomography? Yet devotees love it. Live and let live, I always say...

      It’s mostly just fun 😊 I wouldn’t know where to start emulating the softer edges and sort of ghosting with these lenses. The Laowa I reviewed last week sometimes let in some interesting light flares. Just character

    So the lenses are fixed on a camera that adapts them but on a native Pentax body it is possible to close the aperture further?

    • @MicroFourNerds
      @MicroFourNerds  2 года назад +1

      There is no way to change the aperture, they’re fixed at f2.8 on the native camera or when they’re adapted. No aperture blades at all 😊
