I like the TIE Bomber's big younger brother the TIE Punisher. If one bomber pod is good, 4 of them is the bestest.
especially when loaded up with connor nets or cluster bombs
Lancet Ariel Artillery. A weird ass love child between the Tie Bizzaro and a Lambda shuttle that did enter regular service with the Imperial military
Love The Uglies, they are great. Some had great merit and most were flying deathtraps.
The latter especially for the TIE-Wing.
THE best fighter ever produced
TIE fighters in general are deathtraps. So using the parts in anything is a bad idea

@@wenos0228 Comment got scrubbed, unfortunately, so I can't see it "properly". Stupid YT.
Some of these Experimental TIE's you can also find them in Star Wars X-Wing Alliance, in the mission called "Ensnare Imperial TIE's"
Not just that mission.
@@michaelandreipalon359 Yes. It's series of 3 or 4 missions even one where these Experimental TIE's attack the CRS Liberty
@@rodolfohernandez3303 This comment's scrubbed, unfortunately. Darn YT.
If you edit the ship list file you can fly them too
The Empire could have just put enhanced shields and a hyperdrive on TIE Interceptors and NOT made the Hunter. Might even be cheaper too.
I know the some of the expanded universe books talked about those variants. Thrawn installed shields on the precious few tie interceptors he had left, while I know hyperdrives were installed on some tie fighters but were mentioned to slow them down considerably. I suspect some similar draw backs came from shields on Interceptors, but survivability won out at the end of the day for these increasingly prized fighters and skilled pilots at this point in the war. I think shields on a tie interceptor is a good call over a whole new line.
They actually did exactly that, but the usage of said fighters was restricted specifically to members of the imperial Royal guard, there were a few exceptions(most notably for me turr phenir) but not that many.
Yeah
I mean, if the TIE Hunter had some kind of stealth technology, enhanced weaponry, an insane speed boost and maybe even a small bomb bay it would have been the best stealth strike fighter the Empire could ever make. But as you said, if they were to make just an Imperial X-Wing, it would have been cheaper and easier to just make an Interceptor with shields and a hyperdrive.
Shields definitely, and perhaps even some torpedoes or missiles to so it can serve as a multi purpose fighter. But I don’t think hyperdrives would be a good idea. They’re expensive, slow down your fighter, make them less maneuverable and using gozantis as QRF carriers is just overall a better choice for the empire
I can only imagine the TIE Experimental line came about when Raith Sienar did a line of spice while visiting Palpatines pleasure yacht.
Raith Sienar was always high on spice, specifically it is said that she was a glid biter (A user of glitterstim)
I was hoping the Tie Star Cruiser make this list ,I always bring it up to other youtubers but I never seen anyone talk about it. Crazy Design, can be weak against lots of flyer but pack a big punch, save me plenty of time in Star War Galactic Battleground.
Not too ugly to look at but can see why a Mac truck with wings and a big gun would be interesting especially if anyone at Sienar saw Spaceballs
Somehow I think that what you’re talking about is the VT 49 decimator. Which despite having the eyeball cockpit of the tie fighter was actually made by Kuat drive yards
@@michielkudova3887 It's just the Star Cruiser just looked to me like a Mac Truck with TIE wings. However, the VT 49 was another cool Imperial vehicle!
Ah the TIE Experimental Mk. 4 (Bomb) - gotta say that one is one of the more effective ones on this list. Or at least the one that gave me grief as a kid in one of the hardest levels of X-Wing Alliance where you have to defend the CRS Liberty from a swarm of those.
Also always nice to see the TIE Phantom from Rebel Assault II and how it can retroactively follow the Droid-Tri design - honestly never thought about that until this video.
Worst part of that level was the fact the control ships could Point Defense with turbolasers. They could shoot down tiny ass missles with fucking turbolasers!
I actually thing the last tie is kinda cool!
It’s like a little death grape
You have to take a moment to appreciate how customisable that ball cockpit and twin ion drives proved to be, from mass produced cannon fodder to elite stealth ship and everything in between, it’s not something you would have expected. Would love to see a video on the star fighters that tried to replace the TIE series, the I-7 Howlrunner, the A-9 Vigilance, hell even the Skipray blastboat and I’m sure more that I don’t know about, the other major manufacturers all tried to get a piece of Sienar’s stranglehold on imperial star fighter orders and none managed to unseat the TIE.
In new canon, it's very well possible to re adapt the TIE Phantom and it can be a Thrawn creation. If the TIE Defender was introduced by him, a shielded, hyperdrive, fast, maneuverable, and cloaking starfighter would be exactly what he needs for his best pilots. They would be just as terrifying as the original SW games showed them to be.
Two things:
1. A funny irony about the TIE Phantom is that it is probably one of the TIE's with the greatest amount of visibility for its pilots. I'd imagine that TIEs could be a little tricky to dogfight in for that reason, so that's an aspect of the design I think gets overlooked by lore-writers.
2. If Blohm + Voss existed in the Star Wars universe, the TIE Bizarro looks like something they'd come up with. Hyperspecialized and weird as heck.
ok Reich fangirl.

*Meanwhile at rebel alliance high command*
"Yeah we're gonna send in 4 pilots in Z-95 headhunters armed with ion torpedoes to capture these new TIE's."
Pilots: "U WHAT M8?!?!"
Id love to see a full fighter guide for galaxy at war fall of the republic mod
I've gotta admit, that Tie-Bruit is pretty cool. It's a nicely designed beast that the empire could have used to great effect.
Overall the standard TIE/LN is a great example of the engineering principle "a design is only perfect when there's nothing left to take away". It's as barebones as a small combat fighter could be, and its high speed and efficiency of deployment made it an excellent complement to the battlecruiser doctrine the Empire used. The reason the Imperial military failed ultimately was no fault of the basic TIE, but their battlecruisers' inability to deal with strikes from small task forces.
Tie Advanced was my favorite from Xwing vs TIE Fighter from the 90s.
IMO, the problem with the TIE Hunter is that it doesnt seem to have any features that would make it good for a special ops force like the Storm Commandoes, who would probably have preferred a ship more like the TIE Phantom.
I’m trying to visually tell which mods you were using. Were the mods used the remake mod, TR and AOTR?
I'm sorry but Thai phantom was beautiful and one of my favorites. I love just sitting there waiting for the rebels to fly past and uncloke about five squadrons of them and watch their fighters panic as theyre vaporized
I rarely ever lost a squadron doing that whenever they got low on health I just cloak them again and fly them away
The Tie Phantom was actually based on an existing design known as the V-38 assault fighter. The ship was only briefly mentioned, so it's unknown if there were any visual differences between the two.
NGL, I unironicaly like the tie brute as a "give 0 ducks, function over form, get the job done and move on" kinda design.
with regards to the tie experimental series; I like to think that the designers at Sienar Fleet Systems were intentionally pushing the design of the tie fighter, going in different directions until they came up with something that actually worked. There's plenty of real world examples (pre-dreadnaught battleships etc out there). Rarely do designers just catch lightning in a bottle. usually a successful design takes several generations of the idea until they finally work out the bugs and have a solid piece of technology. This is probably how they came up with the Tie Interceptor, bomber, Avenger, defender etc.
I was going to say the empire should have adopted is the Tie avenger. it's superior to anything the Alliance has in capability has shields and a hyperdrive; and is cheaper than the tie Defender. but apparently that last part isn't quite true. According to Wookiepedia, the tie defender is 100,000 credits less than the tie Avenger. The Tie Defender is so OP.
Some of the Sienar designers worked on them, but what was left out, though some other fleets could use these ties, they were TIES made under "Grand Admiral Zaarins" command. Its something he would have used more than other fleets.
Hi, how good are this ties in eat vs rebel fighters ?
Fantastic video buddy I absolutely love these types of videos
I always liked the x-1. Loved the idea of melting an enemy fighter's shields AND THE FIGHTER in one shot.
I wanted a book centered around Rebel pilots' reaction to someone producing those en masse and knowing that their shields may as well not be there any more.
I sure had my encounter with them Ties. Man there sure dangerous. Glad I got rid of the project in X-Wing alliance
Scimitar Assault Bomber doesn't seem to count as a tie, does it?
My favourite apparently isn't in the game, the tie aggressor which served the same role as tie brute. Tie interdictor/punisher is also very cool
I think the scimitar assault bomber was actually not developed by Sienar, so no it doesn’t count.
Correct. It was made made by Seinar. The only reason it didn't have the TIE prefix is it had a single ion engine, not 2 as is usual
i think the tie hunter is awesome thats and the defender is my to favorite ties
I find the TIE brute really interesting as a fighter capable of taking on a CR90 corvette effectively
I loved the TIE Phantoms, of course I played the Rebel Assault games to death, lol.
Liked the craft, never liked those games myself.
@@michaelandreipalon359 the controls took a lot of getting used to. TIE Fighter was my favorite of that era though.
What are you talking about. The TIE Experimental M1 is awesome.
The Phantom's bult from the V38 fighter, which never took off, despite good speed, room for 2 and its high firepower, it must have had many other issues, and wasn't considered useful enough without a cloaking device to keep using.
Some Uglies are pretty cool though
Tie Oppressor? It looks really cool.
I like how in the lore, better fighter designs are hard to put out, because the regular tie fighter is just decent enough for the price that there's little incentive to change.
Hey! A lot of these are from Xwing Alliance! Don't do my boy Ace dirty!
so was the Tie Phantom's design (from legends I assume) the inspiration for Thrawn's Tie Defender's that came later in the new canon?
Am I the only person who loves the TIE Experimental/Bizzaro? The intended mission for such a ship is obvious, destroying escorts/light capital ships. Beautifully cheap and simple way to add additional turbolasers to a battle.
What mod(s) was/were used for the game footage in this video?
Either thrawn’s revenge or awakening of the rebellion
Cool, thanks. I thought it looked familiar, but couldn’t place it off the top of my head.
1:26 what is that capital ship in the background? It looks cool af
The Phantom and Brute are fine I think. The rest of them are pointless re-hashes of the TIE design. I'd add the Punisher, and the Dagger from TROS to the list, but they're not in Empire at War of course
The tie raptor is absolute trash and same with half of all those stupid ships!🤬🤬🤬🤬
The tie phantom is really cool though and it’s sad that It never really made it to full production 😔
Thanks for a really funny and cool video!
God I love the TIE brute. Which mod can you get it in, eaw remake? aotr?
Ngl they could’ve tried to replicate the CIS fighters if they had a issue with veteran pilots. Definitely consistent experience.
Yeah I agree they should’ve just used droid Starfighters, would save a lot of costs in the long run, But emperor Palpatine hated life and wanted to make sure that every time someone failed they died
what mods are you playing in the video?
"AND X-Wing Alliance". You forgot to put this in the title.
This is what happens if people are too casual enough to only play and enjoy Squadrons.
Can you cover the muai tie?
I miss my Oppressor from SWG. :(
I actually like the TIE Bizarro. It's a good design
Which mod is this? Thrawn’s Revenge?
The second one looks like M-OC's ship fr9m the free maker adventures.
Were these all in a single EaW mod...? (And if so, which one is that?)
Can you guys please please please do another eat play through?
Can you make custom ships in empire at war?
would've liked for the phantom, brute & oppressor to be in a S.W show or movie
The TIE brute appeared in solo, So that counts
I love the tie bizzaro
I thought it was called the Droid to Tri fighter not the droid TIE fighter
I’m confused. Because there was a droid tie fighter… And it was awesome
Out of all this clever Engineering furry Bois still beat the empire
Two things:
tRi-fighter
SIMULtaneously
Drone fighters are actual necessary
Technically the TIE BIGGUN and TIE BOOSTER are separate ships that came from X-wing Alliance.
do a weird X-Wing
how would you even land the bizarro?
You wouldn’t you would be expected to die when you pilot it
@Darth Revan It was also a droid, Or remote fighter I don’t know, I know it wasn’t conventionally piloted… Unless you were crazy
So the mk 4 “bomb” was a Tie Kamikaze
Does my dad while he’s drunk count? He plays empire at war…
Idk man I’ve always kinda liked the MK 1 tie lol I’ll show myself out
Im still holding out hope for an empire at war remake with better graphics and more stable multiplayer
Dude I would laugh at these Star Fighters. Ugly as they are there bloody lethal.
No love for the overcompensating TIE Punisher or the even weirder "Heavy TIE Bomber" that's so fringe it's never gotten a proper TIE model name?
But, what about the TIE scout? That's in empire at war normally-
How to download star wars force arena 2022
Darth maul ship can cloak
But that's not fighter, that's regular ship/shuttle. And not exactly common one, I think it's just one of its kind.
The TIE oppressor looks really dumb
The TIE Bizarro is a stupid design
EAW not eat
TIE phantom cockpit 🤢
What’s the problem with that, it’s meant to be a two seater
@@michielkudova3887 millennium falcon cockpit in tie fighter design doesn’t work for me
@@xSuperFryx …true, The Lego version actually has a better looking cockpit.
How the fuck do you land that thing?
Ugh

I see your TIE's and raise you a TIE uglies. The Y-TIE in particular as being an example of mixing the worst components from each side.
