    Thank you so much for showing how to trouble shoot the thermal sensor. I'm hoping if you can show us how what is the original electrical diagram or connection of the cooling system. My corolla bigbody 4afe cooling system is always turning on whenever I on the car.

    Thanks for the video. Both my radiator fan as well as the condenser fan is rotating when i put ignition is on. Is this also due to the sensor being bad? Thanks

    This test does not test if the temperature sensor itself right? You just assume the sensor works and test if the switch works and other circuits are connected.

    I have a couple questions & I really need a professional’s help! So I hired a couple guys to work on my 2001 Toyota Camry & they were trying to change my thermostat & they ended up breaking a sensor inside that tells me when my car is getting hot so instead of replacing the sensor they broke they just put it back in- not working- & now my radiator fan won’t work at all! What did they do to my car?? I’m desperate as I need to work & this has made my job very difficult due to having a cleaning business I can’t get to my contracts & this vehicle is my work vehicle. Is there anything you could suggest that will help? I know how amazing you are w cars trucks etc so I’m very much interested in what you’d have to say! Please you are my last Hail Mary! 😂I hope to hear back from you! Thanks 😊 Carebear 💜

    Hi Peter. Tried the fan sensor test as you have shown on my 1997 corolla and the fan does not rotate. If I pull the fan rely out and reinstall it the fan comes on momentarily an stops when the relay is seated. The engine does overheat and I never hear the fan come on. What do you suppose is the problem?

    Hello. I have a toyota corolla 1993 and the fan doesnt turn on when the car starts to get hot. is this because the temp sensor needs to be replace or is it the fan sensor itself?

      I have this same problem with a 94 corolla. I unplug the sensor and the fan runs. I turn the ac on and the fan runs. The car gets hot and the fan does not run. I replaced the coolant sensor already, I checked the fan relay for continuity and it was good.
      I belive this fan sensor might be the problem but I'm not sure. If not then maybe a fuse but my fuses look good. They have been checked for continuity as well.

    So what's your answer if you replace that engine coolant temperature sensor, and it's still the same problem ? Still no fans.
    Fans only come on when you unplug the sensor. Even with a new sensor. Same problem.

      @@sandravossen7029 Hi Sandra . How's your morning going ? Sorry to hear you're having the same problem. Unfortunately, I have talked to various mechanics. One mechanic wants $250 just to look at it. Looking at it on RUclips videos. One video clip was saying ; You Might have a car computer problem. If you do have a computer problem, Looks like the computer and the sensor are not talking to each other. and you don't know what you're doing, don't touch it. You might ruin the computer. Right now your car starts. You mess with your car computer, your car might not start anymore. I will keep looking. Or if you find the answer. Let me know as well.
      Thank you for responding.

    Hi Peter, I have a 94 Celica with the same engine. When I unplugg this connector the fan goes on. But When the car is getting to operating tempratures the fun does not come on. My car is not overheating, but I just find it strange I never see my fan come on. Do you maybe have an idea?
    Keep up the good work!

    My 97 Corolla has two fans. One is in the front passenger side of the radiator, and the other is on the back (engine side) of the radiator, on the driver side. When I run the car and it gets hot, the fan on the front passenger side kicks on, but the one on the driver/engine side does not turn on. Should they both be on at the same time? If so I assume that indicates a failed fan right? The power is connected. I just replaced the radiator. I'm wondering if there is another condition that causes this second fan to start. Thanks.

    • @PeterFinnTheCarDoctor
      @PeterFinnTheCarDoctor  7 лет назад

      Hi, both of those should work same time.

    • @edferguson3709
      @edferguson3709 7 лет назад

      Peter Finn Ok. Sounds like I have one bad fan. I should have tested that and replaced it while I had the radiator out but I did not notice it wasn't working since the car wasn't running when I got to it. It's my son's car. Hopefully I can replace it without taking out the radiator. Thanks for the reply.

      Ed Ferguson some cars that have two fans one is to cool down the temperature other fan is for the ac condenser it will turn on right when you turn your ac on

    • @edferguson3709
      @edferguson3709 7 лет назад

      Roy Bell I will unplug the fan from the temperature sensor to see if it kicks on, so I know it is working. I have not seen it kicks on due to engine temperature yet, however it is not overheating either. Thanks.

    • @edferguson3709
      @edferguson3709 7 лет назад

      night doge it sounds like the temperature sensor on the thermostat housing is bad. That would be why the fan on the left side works when you unplug it. It's also possible the relay is bad. As far as the AC fan, it should turn on whenever you run the air conditioner. If it's not, I assume you have a bad fan motor there. However you might want to do some research to see if there's a relay for that one as well.
