Kirsty, Iam so pleased there are such caring people living close to you. Thank you caring Kerie. I think after living in a little stone house for three years. Portugal would know you are the real deal, and you do everything traditional. Portugal would be very happy to have someone as Wonderful as you living there, you are full of emphy, love to do everything traditionally. I loved going to the three day festival, hearing and seeing the Portuguese music, l loved it and also seeing the food and items to buy. I loved the festival The pointing looks beautiful on the side you finished.
Yes I enjoy all your videos, but this one was special as this one was the window, and that was very needed and it's a beautiful size and view from it is wonderful and it was very difficult to do and you did it. Yeah with a lovely friend.
Hi Kristy. It's Raquel you kicked Butt on the Window and I am Happy Keri Came back to Help you.Thsnk you Keri for Helping Kirsty.❤.Raquel.And Kirsty thank you for Showing Us were you went the food and Music Looked Wonderful.Thank you Kirsty and your Pointing Looked So, So Cool.Thank you ❤.Raquel.See you Sunday.🤗.
Hi Kristy, I love the work you are doing 💖. I am amazed at the women that have learned to do stone work, pointing, putting clay mixture on walls turning barns into homes. All my respect to you LADIES . I also saw Nick and his wife, at the festival. I call Nick " the jack of all trades ".
I feel like now I can breathe watching you build the window, I could never have lived in your little home without a window I'd have had to be outside in a tent! It's going to be absolutely liberating once it's finished.
That window is really loo!ing amazing. I love watching footage of the local festivals. It really gives me a feeling for the culture of your area of Portugal.
Always something to do! If not grinding, then pointing, writing, watering, pickling, beer drinking, festvaling! Not enough hours in a day! Keep plugging away, it's coming together beautifully! Hugs from 🇨🇦
Hi Kirsty, oI was just thinking of how worried you were to start this project. Taking boulders out of the side of the house you're living in is quite a stretch in testing the trust you have in your ability. Now look at you! The front of your house is going to look amazing! I guess the old adage :Nothing ventured, nothing gained" is really true! You stuck your neck out pretty far this time, and like all other times, you've done a beautiful job. Congrats, so far!! The window is going to make your house pretty from the outside and the rendering for the inside is going to be timely for winter. Amazing. And, you've inspired me. I finished my washing machine repair and was successful too! I'm chuffed. I hope you are too when your window is finished. (and now!!) The festival looked like so much fun. Kerry is such a good friend. It's always wonderful to have someone around who gives that much support. I hope your are far from the fires. So sorry to hear about them. Have a great few days. Best, Angela
Congrats on the repair... success all around! Ya I'm also excited to get going again on rendering bits of the inside... I see a big transformation coming this winter! 😀 Yes it's lovely to have such good buddies around here and such helpful ones, as well!
@@PortugalfromScratch Thank you Kirsty. It means a lot. I'm happy that you're happy in Portugal. Sinead is a great neighbour. You seem to have a great group of friends. not surprising in the least.
Enjoying all of your progress, Kirsty. Loved the festival today. We have had two days of glorious sunshine in Wales and feeling like it could be Portugal. ❤🇵🇹❤
Such progress! I love your ideas of new things and projects to do ….but I’m so glad you are plugging along finishing this window and pointing …Looks amazing 🪟
Massive step forward! The window is a huge job but it’s looking so great. I love the pointing. It ties everything together perfectly. The festival was very cool. Thanks for sharing.
Great video. It's looking soooo good. How you carved that upright stone is beautiful. I can't believe what you have done. You are so clever. Loved the trip the village festival. I have to say that I kept an eye on the sky - we have reports in Australia of terrible fires in Portugal. I hope you are far away from those fires.
Carving those stones is sort of brutal but when it's done, it's done! I've got another one to put in place tomorrow... fingers crosse it goes ok! I'm far from the fires, relatively. Can see the hazy sky due to the smoke though. It's crazy right now.
Your abandoned barn is looking more and more like a home. The window makes a huge difference as does the pointing to create that change. Maybe a pulley system to help lift the stone lintel for the window?
Ya it's going to make a massive difference! I think getting the stone up ill be fine with helpers but it'll be tricky to get it perfectly into place... a pully might help!
I have so much confidence in your abilities. Everything you do is so awesome, even when you doubt yourself and appear to be making it up as you go, it always turns out fabulous 🤗
Hi Kirsty, you know what? I’ve just realised, your music at the intro reminds me of rain when it runs off the roof without a gutter and hits the ground. I love that sound too.
Ah cool! It's made with a hang drum. I was with a group of volunteers and a little jam session started and I recorded some and found it on my computer to use... this was before I figured out about copyrighted content so it was the only thing I could make work in the early days... but I love it, too!
Great video love the window and the pointing. It’s fun to watch you pointing because you are so good at it and we can learn from you. Your pointing is beautiful and the window 🤩

The window framing is really coming along. I like the idea of making the windowsill on the inside out of wood. I think it would be beautiful and a place for potted herbs to bask in the sunlight. Just a thought😊

I've had that suggested before but I'm not so into that idea, just because I'm used to this way... but also because I like to push the lime into the nooks and crannies so I'd have to get the tuck pointer out anyway. So I just do it all in one go. But I totally see how that could work! I'm, just stuck in my ways. 😁

Hi Kirsty, Maybe you could use slabs to box the window in then you would have windowsills and then face it all with the natural bricks and stones. I'm not a builder just think it might be easier. @@PortugalfromScratch so you're happy to live illegally?
I don't have any concerns about my living situation.

Hi❤
Hi!
It's morning here and I don't have my wits about me yet. I was wondering why you were putting up a window box before you had a window.
It's what we commonly call a planter full of flowers that's affixed to the bottom of the window.
I'm not talking about a planter... it's the box that the window frame and then the winder will sit it. Basically a square hole in the wall.
Wish y building wouldnt have to stop
Haha ya... it's a lot of work but I'm getting there!
❤😁

Hope you are not neat the fires.
No, they were several hours drive from me. Horrible, though. 😞
