    Strangely satisfying to watch 😮.. I’m now subscribing. I had noticed your videos before, but had thought “ how many more more portugal stone house Reno channels can I watch?”.. the answer is now, at least one more 😅

    This timelapse is the first video of yours that I've watched, and I didn't skip any ads-just a small contribution to help boost your channel in the algorithm. I believe your content has a lot to offer in terms of showcasing patience, tenacity, and grit during renovations. I also appreciate how you always keep your workplace tidy; it's so pleasant for the eyes and mind to see everything cleaned up at the end of each day. Your meticulousness in the tedious task of chipping off the lime plaster is truly admirable. The transformation of each space is awesome!

    When re-jointing, make sure you wet the cracks first by spraying with water, to get a better bonding (I use a basic 5 liter plant sprayer which you pump to pressurize with a spray nozzle on a flexible hose) also, you do not want the mortar not to dry out too fast. When it's hot, make sure you wet by spraying gently after some time (not too huch...the stones will get dirty from water running down)...keep up the good work

    It was nice to watch your timelapse of a year. I know it went quickly, but I was a bit concerned that I didn’t once see you with a facemask on when you were scraping all that dust off and breathing it in.

You have put in so much hard work to get down to the bare bones, and the exciting stuff is starting. I had forgotten that you clacked the back of your head (TWICE!) and feel bad for laughing (again haha) Pat yourselves on the back and enjoy the fact that you never have to chip that render off again, or cart it around in bags lol Well done, I am certainly looking forward to year 2.

    It's such an amazing property and you two work well as a team, producing fascinating videos.
    Michael works at something physically just like me, and I was fully into the episode where he installed all those floors beams on his own. I was also glad when you got some of that Portuguese yellow scaffolding, after seeing all that ladder work on the walls.
    It's also good to see stuff coming back together after a whole year of demolishing and chipping old plaster off walls.
    It'll be even better to finally see each room come together, one at a time. We can see it will eventually be a characterful and classy home.
    I can also anticipate that one headache will be to repoint al those schist walls because, unlike with granite stone, the schist flakes are so thin, meaning lots of cracks to fill.
    On the plus side, with so many walls to do, you'll soon be an expert on how to do this faster! Or have you thought about lime plastering them instead - or some of them? That would bring more natural light into the darker rooms.
    Just a thought.

    • @PortugalonaPostcard
      @PortugalonaPostcard  2 месяца назад

      Thank you so so much 🙂 it means a lot!
      Know what you mean about the schist stone...! It's going to take some doing. We might break up some of the walls with some lime plaster but hopefully the pointing will brighten them up a bit too. We'll have to experiment a bit!
      Thanks again ☺️

    Renovating an old stone home, especially in a place as scenic as Central Portugal, is a challenging but rewarding endeavor. A one-year timelapse of such a renovation project can capture the transformation of a weathered and historic structure into a rejuvenated home full of character and history.
