Jimmy Butler is their guy. That's the guy the Celtics should get.

if the Celtics can sign Hayward , then they gotta draft Ball to distribute the rock (I hope not). Horford, Hayward, Bradley, Isaiah , Ball and Olynyk look legit

Or trade for Butler, the only guy that can match LeBron's physicality

Butler with Hayward and Isaiah could be a problem. He is an elite defender, decent rebounder, and can take it to the basket, three things we don't do. I do like Markelle though, and I would prefer keeping the pick versus trading it.

I'll be honest. If the Celtics can somehow sign Hayward, I'd be okay trading for Butler. Or if we can somehow get George and Butler along with a guarantee to resign by George, I'd be cool with the trade. Assuming we kept Jaylen and Smart. So we at least have SOME kind of future when the dust settles.

Paul Pierce is smoking crack. Gordon Hayward is a free agent, dont need to trade the pick for him. Paul George isnt staying here. Keep the pick.

If Hayward signs, then trading for Butler would not be a bad idea

How the hell they gon have enough salary cap to fit both Hayward and Butler/PG?

I believe Amir, Kelly, and Zeller are becoming free agents this summer. We have a whole bunch of rookies who can make a promising bench and can trade a few assets. I am for keeping the pick more than I am trading for Butler, but I could understand why the Celtics would trade for Butler.

+Ruben Julius I have stopped trying to figure out the ins and outs of the NBA salary cap for the things you can and cannot do but in the big picture I believe they will have something like $20-30M in free cap space for next year depending on what they do with their Cap Hold guys.
I assume they will keep Olynyk so probably closer to the $20M figure, though if they get 2 big name big salary guys I can see cutting ties with Kelly if that is what it takes to make that happen. Nice player to have but isn't going to stand in the way of a big time move.

Rather the Celtics keep the pick, draft Fultz and then just sign Gordon Hayward in free agency that way you have both. Even though Isaiah Thomas has turned himself into a superstar with the Celtics there is no guarantee that he will even be there long term and that's why you need Fultz. Next year could easily be Thomas' last year with the Celtics. Chris Mannix has already said that Thomas wants to get paid like Russell Westbrook and I don't think the Celtics will be willing to go that far especially if they'll already have a franchise point guard in place in Markelle Fultz plus another go to scorer in Gordon Hayward so it may not be worth it for the Celtics to pay Thomas all that money after paying both Al Horford and Gordon Hayward. That's why you need Fultz especially if he really turns into that transcendent player that people believe he's going to be. In an ideal world, the Celtics can get Thomas for just under the max and within a season or 2 make him the sixth man and let Fultz start. Ideally on a championship team, Thomas is your Sixth man and Markelle Fultz is your starting point guard

That trade is known as one of the worst trades in history mainly because Paul wasn't that great after the trade sad how he celebrated the Boston pick when he was the main reason it was so one sided

Of all the 9 players that switched teams in that trade The Truth was the only one that actually played well. While a little off from his Boston days his 1 season with the Nets was pretty good and the next season with the Wizards was also pretty good. Last 2 seasons with LAC were nothing great.
The biggest reason that trade was a total bust is that KG fell off the cliff from BOS to BKN. All his numbers were down but his points (which were down his last year in Boston already) went down by more than half and he missed a lot of games too.
If you take Pierce out of the equation Boston actually won that trade just on the future quality of the players involved and just got 3/4 1st round draft picks (technically they got 3 and then this years was a switch, but still a huge steal for Boston this season obviously!) as a throw in...
With Pierce the Nets probably get a small win just looking at the current players involved before taking the picks into account.
HORRIBLE trade for the Nets but the ONLY thing they got out of it was a good season from Pierce so should not blame him for that teams demise.
