After Colonal Marines and Duke Nukem, this is refreshing to know a good game can come out after a long development. I am looking at you now, Last Guardian.
Yea I'm curious about the last guardian. I don't have it pre ordered since I can't afford it right now (been a rough year financially) but I hope it does well so I can get it at some point when I can.
Icc284 I hope you come back from financial troubles. I really don't have hope on it. I wasn't anticipating it anyway but still interested how it will be at reviews.
Fraction25 Thanks. I can't say I am hyped for it or anything I liked ico and shadow of colossus though so i'm hoping like FFXV here that the last guardian gets at least a similar reception and doesn't fall to the depths like duke nukem forever.
Fraction25 the witcher 3 was another good example of a good game after a long development as well. Let's hope the last guardian and Cyberpunk 2077 follow as well
waywardTruth33 I'm assuming you're guessing...God forbid somebody prepared a script that corresponds to their thoughts. Let's just ignore facts and discredit anything he says because reasons:) while what you said might be true ,it doesn't really change some valid points in the review. Another thing...almost all reviewing outlets prepare a portion of script beforehand. It is like writing an essay (which probably you haven't tackled yet in school perhaps ?).People rarely do it live without preparing for a topic beforehand. I don't think he read everything from the script though.Ive listened to many debates and this didn't look like reading everything from a script.
the first Final Fantasy game came out just short of 30 years ago in Japan. This game was first announced 10 years ago. The development of this game took almost a full third of Final Fantasy's entire history.
I think I'm misunderstanding you or that's a contradiction. I'm not sure if you're saying that it shows that they took a long time putting effort into this game and it turned out bad or something else? Also, you are saying that FFXIII was bad? which is a weird way of saying it because there are only two other main games in the series after XIII and people really like XIV: A Realm Reborn...also unsure of you are saying XIV is bad. Honestly, I'm just completely confused at what you are saying
yeah i get the confusion. it shows in the sense its not that great, its a mess tbh. no final fantasy 13 was great imo, i liked it alot. i dont see 15 as a ff game thats why i said 13 the last great one. as the 13-2 and lightning returns are not main entries, wheter they are good or not doesnt matter. and 14 mmo i also dont count as main entries. hope it makes sense. and yeah im also abit heart broken about the way 15 turned out. the series has changed from a uniqe and beautiful thing to something that wants to do what all the cool and popular kids do. it kinda looses it soul.
MasterJazz09 ya thats got to be one of the dumbest things ive heard in a game review in quite some time and i even watch ign game reviews and we all know how dumb those can be. Lol this ff is to final fantasy? Seriously? Really!?
They're pointing to the moments in Final Fantasy where the game decides to drastically expand the scope, where a story begins as "Escape this City, Rescue that Kingdom" and ends with "The Universe and Time Itself is going to explode if you don't kill the BadGuy of Eternal Evil." Starts simple, then throws three tomes of epic hyper-fantasy shenanigans at you.
Julian F well I think that scene was basically developers jerking themselves off to completion ...it is pretentious nostalgia bait.It is out of place in a FF game and I don't appreciate it.However I do appreciate the game .It looks like the best FF yet and I played almost all of them
What is with gamers thinking 4.5/5 is just "not bad"? Games don't need perfect scores to be amazing. 4.5 is 9/10, 90%, etc. Numbers are arbitrary anyway but obviously he thinks its a really good game
7 is above average to good. 8 is good to great. 9 is amazing. 10/10 means a game with no flaws at all. Not a single flaw. At all. 4.5/5 is 9/10 as mentioned already. That's a really good score... Trash would be 5/10 or less. With 6/10 being mediocre to average. When did 1-7 all become the same number on a scale of 10?
To all the haters out there. Yes, this game isn't like the old Final Fantasies, but why are you mad? If they make the same game every time, they won't gain new fans, and they might even lose fans. FF has become so popular that they have to change up the gameplay. I am a diehard fan of Final Fantasy, and I love this game for what it is.
Dandalorean This is the first FINAL FANTASY GAME that I have ever been interested in.I was born in 1985 so I was child when all those FF games everyone loves .I never ever understood what was so great about Final Fantasy back then even with FF7 I bought it back then after my friends where bragging how great it was and then I played it and I just didn't understand why everyone thought it was so great.Maybe it was the battle system and kinda cheese story I don't know. But now FFXV with all the stuff I have seen I'm probably gonna buy it.The last FF game I played was Type-0 and i fucking hated it thank god I bought it used and was able to return it at gamestop .JRPG gameplay mechanics have always been the thing that makes me not like these games from the absurd lack of a good camera to the shitty mechanics but FFXV LOOKS LIKE THEY SOLVED IT SO I'M WILLING TO BUY IT . YOUR COMMENT IS RIGHT CAUSE IF THEY MADE THE SAME KIND OF GAME LIKE ALL THE PUREST WANT I WOULD NEVER HAVE EVEN CONSIDERED BUYING IT.
I like this new style and the old style but I can understand peoples anger for the change, it would be like cod becoming a turn based game, while it could be fine it's a complete change to the original system and would turn a lot of original fans off the game. I hope they keep the old and the new system in future games, have some games with the old system and some with the new system. While I am absolutely loving final fantasy 15 I cannot say I'm getting the same vibes I got when I played FFVII, FFX (1 and 2), FFX12 or FF13 (just 1), games is absolutely amazing but it doesn't exactly feel like Final Fantasy.
Dude same I just don't get it. Sure the game has it's flaws like every game ever. But personally I think it's amazing, the effort they put into it is astounding and it's so fun if you actually try out all the little features and figure out how to play. They definitely could have made the story better and added some tweaks here and there but it's still a great game. In terms of open world games I'd say it's one of the best of all time, it just doesn't get enough praise which is sad. I'm only about half way through the game as I'm taking my time and doing side quests and exploring, but I truly do hope they make a sequel to 15 i love the main 4 characters they are very likable
Yeah, that review felt pretentious. Still, it kinda draws my attention the diference on Noctis' squad reviewer comments. Gamespot's reviewer was kinda "meh", and this reviewer praised the party. I guess is up for each of us to call if it's a good cast of characters or not
cubbex he isn't wrong. u have to play the game to make an opinion. I mean just look up the review of the last of us by gamespot they gave the game a 8/10 too. Do not trust on reviews, especially when it's about jrpgs.
before watching this review I will say I am gonna buy this game without any review opinions well I did that with any FF games since FF7, always day one buy :)
Me too, needless to say i suffered many years with the XIII saga (seriously, an entire console generation of just one FF. XI and XIV does not count, since MMO's xD)
Yea I'm watching the reviews to see what I'm getting into when I get the game tomorrow the reviews could have given this a 4 out of 10 and I would still get it tomorrow. To me a lot of the complaints on the various reviews so far are subjective to me so I will see for myself how the linear sections is and all that. That being said I am glad to see that it is getting positive receptions I never expected 9 and 10s across the board to begin with but you never know.
there's a cut scene when you sleep in old lestallum where you have a conversation with prompto and they say they've been friends since the beginning of high school and say it was five years ago. so as a freshman you're probably around 14 or 15 so those 2 are about 19 or 20. the other 2 I'm not sure about, obviously older but not by much. except maybe ignis.
It's easy .. basically just hold the attack button Noct will start flying around slashing the monster then when the parry icon appears hold the guard button, repeat!
I've been seeing some 8's and people thinking that's a bad score and saying "I knew it!" or "Not worth my time." People subtracting for lessen mechanics and last 1/3. This game could've been a 9 3 or so years ago to and honestly, if people have this hard of a time accepting Final Fantasy 15, I can see Zelda Breath of Wild getting 8's and people not satisfied with it. I think we're used to modern games and what they've become that old franchises can't get through the barrier or always be not as good as they once were or acknowledged for being new and great at same time. No matter how good their new games are either.
This is actually a very well educated, well thought out, and non biased review. The reality is that Nomura's vision for the Versus XIII trilogy using the FNC storyline (one of the best Square'd ever written) would have been an absolute, undeniably ground breaking masterpiece. The project was simply too ambitious because of time, man power, and flat out money. That being said, if we got Versus, we would have got everything in XV+one of the best stories and settings/atmosphere ever created. XV as it stands is a DECENT FF with an absolute inconsistent, patch-job, horrendous attempt to salvage pieces of the whatever Versus inspirations they could keep. It actually has the most incoherent and incomplete story of any FF ever.
RUclips Hero It's not often that I pre order games but FFXV is worth it. Even the reviews are strong!! I don't see any fault in supporting my favourite franchise. Uncharted 4, Ratchet n Clank and FFXV are my only preordered games of 2016. Not a bad record by any means ;)
Madness1 I know, I was just teasing. They even talk about "redeeming the series" so they have perfect notion that the perfect score they gave XIII was completely unjustified.
Hey GamesRadar, just happened upon your channel I can say I dig you review format; it feels candid, casual and raw, which are the things I like. I only have an issue with the mic setup :). Hope ya fix it.
Final Fantasy games usually have a New Game+ mechanic instead, restarting the game with everything you've acquired but with the world consisting entirely of supermobs.
Like all of my favourite games, Final Fantasy XV started as something I wasn't too keen on, and that I didn't entirely enjoy, but that I warmed up to over time until eventually I noticed the great things and began to appreciate the wonderful experience this game offers. Now, it's one of my favourite games of All Time!
I personally am really glad they made us wait another few months because now an already amazing game is refined even more so and is everything I ever really wanted in a game and i personally have always really loved final fantasy games and jrpgs and rpgs. If you only really like games like cod and what not then most likely this game isn't for you but i would suggest at least giving it a try. Maybe there will be an american english demo you can download and try once the game comes out Tuesday and who knows maybe you'll end up really liking it and it may turn you onto a bunch of similar games u would have never thought to buy before. I for one absolutely love huge open world rpgs and jrpgs they kick ass! Theres so much do between main quest and side quest. This game will last you hundreds of hours if played right. Im sorry about the really long comment but im just soooooo Excited for this game tmrw that i just want to jump up and down while screaming YES! Its here! Its finally here! Its really here! After all these years and being pushed back so many times and years, but its here! Its really here! I hope all of you enjoy your time with this amazing game as much as ik I will! :)
I had the oportunity to see the game for like 6 hours. The characters are great, the story is ok, the gameplay is great and the fighting style is great but has been done before and maybe better in other games so it didnt felt that much original. Overall a great game, the guy who actually got to play it hard said the open world is vast enough to feel free but felt like there were not enough sidequests, he said it would be great at an 8.5/10 and that it is the right direction for the series to go.
With the story comments, did you watch the anime and Kingslgave? I especially enjoyed the anime but am curious is to how it affects the quality of the story.
Question: Is there any immediate replayability or can you do everything the first play through? I'm curious why you would play through it again unless there were different paths you could take or decisions you could make.
I always have Noctis wear a hat and normal clothes, and everyone else the same. Suddenly, Noctis's hair looks less ridiculous and everyone looks normal and badass.
I think he was actually saying it should have got a 9.5/10 (or 4.75/5), I don't think he was trying to tell them they should use "out of 10" system in which it would have been a 9/10
I love the natural format instead of reading from the script. It would be cool if the second person also had some opinions, but I realize it's almost impossible to have two informed reviewers during a period like this. Subscribed :)
Ok if i get that straight. We have a RPG game (Role Playing Game) with: 1. Bad story and quests and battles not related to the scenario. 2. Indifferent characters you don't get attached with 3. Repetitive battle system. 4. One character control. 5. Irritating camera on fights AND you say it is decent and give it 4.5/5. What did i get wrong here? So if it didn't have (which it has) great graphics it would get what kind of score? 0/5 ?
leon voulgaris Dude,i was thinking the same exact thing. I bought a ps4 just to play this game.I guess I can sell my ps4 now cause I have no interest in this game.
The 4th Horseman I am willing to do the same thing as you did man but only for FFVII Remake. And that only if i see a bit of the gameplay and it is not as shit as the one of FFXV....
I can't help but feel that the world size becoming limited was a tactic to put more feeling into the story. It occurs towards the very end when the tensions are incredibly high and I think they used the open world design at the start to accentuate the fact that their world is becoming more chlostropbic feeling. I doubt the devs would half-ass the game after a certain point like that, especially after 10 years of development.
Another review that basically bashes the game, its characters, its story (which is what's supposed to be what FF games are about) and still gives it a high score. I'm having a hard time trusting reviews now because statements just do not correspond with the scores given - at all.
Just bc they point out flaws doesn't mean those flaws are overbearing or huge. How about you learn to grasp the gravity or degree in which someone makes criticisms. Clearly the reviewer still really likes the game and enjoyed it a lot
+OriginalPirateLyricVideos what are you talking about? Who are you to claim what an FF should be about to everyone? Plus I didn't make any claim about what's important, I just said the reviewer pointed out things that were flaws TO HIM but that they don't tarnish the game overall. "Even when it stumbles there's so much to like here" is what he said
OriginalPirateLyricVideos what? characters and stories are essential for an RPG. That's where final 12 and 13 failed, besides many other things. Final 7 and 10 are praised for many reasons, especially for the characters and the story. How can you say that he plays wrong. What is that supposed to mean? And if you are all about the fight system and I assume you know the old parts you can't instantly like part 15 cause it's so different from the other parts. Looking at the endgame - I think in western rpgs you can do way more. Just look at skyrim, fallout or the witcher. Final fantasy was always about many things but denying that people like that franchise for it's characters and stories is just plain wrong
I am kinda hyped, because I grew up playing X/X-2, but the setting of FF XV has no charme to be honest. The characters don't look special and the main one is basically Sasuke from Naruto in looks and fighting style.
Eckino E the characters actually surprise you. The game goes out of its way to make you think their stereotypical anime characters only for you to be taken off guard by the good writing and character. I have never been so caught off guard by characters in a game since I first played kingdom. Cause I first that was going to be a dumb anime Disney game. I was caught off guard
As someone who has played the older Final Fantasies (think SNES) all they way up to 10, this game has no appeal to me. I have not enjoyed a FF game since 10 and not sure I ever will. My buddy picked this game up so I sat and watched him play for a few hours and just wasn't grabbing my attention. As soon as he got into a fight and just held down the circle button while we had a chat, not looking at the screen, till he won the fight reminded me of 13 when you could just auto battle your way through everything. I know it "looks" cool and stylish but if it's just "tap/hold button till you win" then the combat is boring as shit.
Hungry Hungry Hobo How is holding a button any different than mashing it though? For 13 at least you couldn't get past the first 5 hours just by mashing x because of the stagger system, where as the older FFs are more guilty of X mashing. I feel like mostly any rpg has a shitload of battles where its completely brainless and you can keep issuing the same command over and over until you win, with the boss battles being the legit tests of strategy and reaction. Just my thoughts.
Final Fantasy XV is the first Final Fantasy I ever completed, at around 38 hours, at lvl 52. I really enjoyed the game, but the story certainly suffered from the lack of linearity and backstory. I only rented it, though I may actually wind up buying it on sale so that I can go back and complete all the side quests.
why are people not complaining about the lack of linear levels and the fact that towns have made a comeback? All the people that defended Xiii was a good video game?
Dude there will not be a honest review for this game until the game is at least a week old. All you see now is sponsored stuff with "the game is so great, GO BUY IT"
Thanks. Just wondering since some games would allow you to roam without the members. I prefer solo combat with a party there for cutscenes. I'm sure it's still great having them around though. I'll find out for myself soon.
I just designed a character named Noctis like a year ago, that's funny. But why's it look like he's about to fall over when he runs ? lol I never really got deep into final fantasy so I can't call myself a fan by any stretch but I do like the franchise, and this one looks great.
Jim Fitton Yes and as I stated already quite clearly I said I made one like a year or so ago, and I'm not a huge FF fan so I wouldn't know about this Noctis, hence my statement about being a funny coincidence . so what?
i loved the game but it was a little short for me, i havent played a final fantasy game in-depth since 10 and i always like leaving most of the side-quests up to the point where you have the open world unlocked and your about to head into the sinal battle, it wasnt until i was wandering around in chapter 14 that i realised id left it all a bit too late lol
DLC 1 - Booster Pack (random weapons and gear [free]) DLC 2 - Episode Gladio (full side story where you play as Gladio [paid]) DLC 3 - Holiday Pack (random weapons and gear themed after the holidays [free]) DLC 4 - Episode Prompto (full side story where you play as Prompto [paid]) DLC 5 - Episode Ignis (full side story where you play as Ignis [paid]) DLC 6 - Expansion Pack (adds multiplayer, endgame content, and more small things [free or paid, we don't know]) The episodes take place at a point in the story where that companion is off on their own, it is not necessary for the story, however it will enlighten a few pieces. Supposedly the multiplayer is that of, you join a persons game, and pick a character, Noctis, Gladio, Ignis, Prompto, and play as them in the open world. However they would like to add female characters such as Luna, Iris, Gentiana, and Aranea, as well as people like Cor as playable characters too.
Stop reading from a script, this sounds like an ad buy. I normally choose you guys as my go-to for reviews because you use smart answers after smart questions and the review seems real and tells me more than a number could.
So after playing with Google's translator, I've found out that the lad's names are Latin. Noctis -> Midnight Ignis -> Fire Prompto -> Ready Cor -> Heart But what the heck is Gladiolus' names origin?
I totally agree with their comments. For me the thing I hate most about this game was the camera movements while in combat. You guys have no idea how many times I had to take a break from the game after battling some huge enemies because I totally get disoriented and nauseous after each battle.
pessoal eu bati final no final fantasy xv é agora não consigo continuar o jogo sempre q logo vai para o último mestre. alguém sabe como eu volto para o mundo livre?
Well it wouldn't be Final Fantasy if the story didn't go off the rails in the last third. If anything that is perhaps the one thing that really binds all the games together. Don't really like hearing that you ditch most what you learn in the previous 2/3, but if I can get a FF that is 2/3 open world it will be one hell of an improvement over FF13
You really do ditch what happened in the first 2/3. After a point you never hear from the imperial army again and either than meeting with *spoiler censorship [Insert name here]* you never see the imperials. Plus the rush of info in the final third completely changes the aim of the game and the goals. Which somewhat pissed me off since they're an infinite amount of loose ends and unsolved bits.
I'm only 5 or so hours in, but this game has got me. The combat is fast and fun and the world is great to explore and look at. For whatever faults the story might have, I believe the game play itself will more than make up for.
after playing for 16 hours I've grown to enjoy it for what it is. But Final Fantasy just isn't what it used to be. FF6 through FF10 was when FF had a clear vision for what it wanted to be, a storydriven epic. FF15 is a solid open world experience but the story suffers for it and it no longer feels like an epic story with well developed characters.
Im now 25h into this game. Played 7,8,10,12,13. And indeed in evry ff they want to change the combat and again you hate it or love it or don't care. But this is relly awesome new way of fighting. I was hoping tho the story would be getting interested but also indeed the pals what they add , like stop here to take a pic, stop here for break, oo stop here for dungeon etcetc.. . It feels nice.
I beat the game yesterday. The last Final Fantasy I played was X. When he says the story is a mess, and makes no sense, I don't get it. I have 32 hours on the game, yes not exactly 40 hours. I had no problem following the story, it's pretty straight forward. The game has one of the best stories I've seen in a while, if you want it, get it. it's well worth the money.
The overall story isn't hard to understand once you finish it, but you get so much lore and terms thrown out in the middle that if you didn't watch kinsglaive or read the lore pages in game it could get a bit messy especially if you are not used the final fantasy story telling.
It is an amazing game, my complaint though is that i beat it in 27 hours...-_- after 10 years of waited i beat it this soon...thats disappointing i was hoping after all that time it would be as long as FF7 or even FF13, but that being said graphics were perfect phenomenal story as well and great Characters definitely best characters ive ever played from an FF game.
Fingers998 Especially on your first time through. If I were to go back and 100% some of the final fantasy games it would take around 60-65 hours for 7, 50 hours for 8 and around 100 hours for 10. (Lots of blitzball and the monster arena takes quite a bit of time) Kind of disappointing to get around the same length as the shortest of the PS1 games.
steel16880 I've never heard anyone say that the game is "short" so if I were you, I'd take what I'm hearing with a grain of salt. Alot of these guys are playing with guides in order to give a quick review. How else would he know how many side quests he has left?
Black Diamond *"Alot of these guys are playing with guides in order to give a quick review."* With a guide it's little more than 50 hours is still disappointing. The world is huge or so I've heard though, so that'll take a lot of time to explore hopefully.
Finished the game storyline. Took literally 30 hours to complete. Died only once. Honestly this game is idiot prove. The story was getting good until 2/3 of the game which I feel was suddenly rushed leading to the game killing off or disapearing a certain group of individuals to rush the conclusion of this game. Anyone who's a true pro of RPG's and has played almost all FFseries will find this game lacking in storyline and in combat which is designed to let you win if you haven't figured it out yet. About the only thing appealing to this game was its first 2/3 open world adventure. Though Dont let that fool you, theirs really not much else to do aside from hunt, side quests, treasures and few dungeons along with hidden bosses. Former night show Connan O. Brian was given a 2 hour playthrough of the game and even though he finds humor in what he says he's actually serious about it. In his interview he called the game boring and there's nothing to do in the game. I decided to play the game none the less and remain optimistic for over 30 hours only to conclude Connan O Brian was right. Apart from the storyline theirs nothing to do. Took him 2 hours what took me 30 hours to conclude the same. I'm 30 years old and consider myself an old school RPG Gamer. I've played all FFgames and many other RPGs I Dont care to count with many styles of combat system. I have decided to make this my last final fantasy game. In my personal opinion I really felt I wasted my money and time in a game that's so idiot prove it felt more like a movie that required u to move from point A to point B to continue the cenima.
I completely agree with you. I hope FF16 will be a return to 'fantasy' like the classics; the crystals, a big cast of interesting characters with more summons and a pilotable 'Airship' on a world map that is truly traverse-able without invisible barriers. :P Diverse castles, towns, villages. Maybe the discovery of an ancient civilization with advance technology? IMO, that's taking the series in the right direction.
I love it . I only player FF 7 and FF 8 . But this is amazing and i love it , the ending got me crying. Best game made to date in my opinion . But hey thats just me . This game got me addicted to teamwork .
depending on how you play (check around every corner for instance) this game can easily give you 100 hours. it's just not very polished in the game play area to me. the buttons seems stuck at time like I press x to talk but it jumps. fine tuning details like that would make this game so much better. I hate how when you are fighting the water dragon thing and there is no threat of you dying, the battle looks cool but the controls are terrible during the fight it's like you can't "feel" the battle. I had no idea what was going on and then the battle was over. the story is decent but it isn't explained very well, I felt like there were times when I didn't know why a scene was happening. the game has an identity. for instance like Naruto or cowboy bebop have a.style to it...in other words it knows who it is. which is a good thing. I agree with this reviewer in that I can't connect with the story or characters that much cuz I didn't read or watch any prequels. overall a good game. the battle system needs some post game update, but it is still decent, just hard because the camera and the controls I feel are pretty bad. like bad to where it takes away from how good/fun it could be. graphics are outstanding of course but everyone whose played FF knows that's to be expected from FF. ascension grid is nice, but it just doesn't have the same "this is awesome" factors that the sphere grid had. I like the new absorbing magic idea. having to drive everywhere can be a real drag at times that you want to get there quick, but knowing that you have to actually drive miles in an insanely huge open world is cool. day/night aspect of the game is executed very well. I'm almost 30 hours in and I have no idea how to summon, if I can summon yet, if I already did a summon...the battle system is just not user friendly imo, just play it and you will see what I mean. still not quite sure how to take advantage of specials, group attacks. it's like I know what buttons to push but it never seems to do wut I tell it to when I want it to. again u gotta play to understand. maybe that's why they made a tutorial. even phasing with noct is hit or miss. I'll press triangle and the camera will go crazy and sometimes I won't warp sometimes I will. it's just weird. like I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong if anything, and the game won't helo me out. but it's like you feel as though if the game was more polished or if you knew what exactly you were doing the battling would be AMAZING.
"HELLO EVERYONE!!! MY NAME IS ANTHONY JOHN AGNELLO AND I AM SHOUTING THIS REVIEW FROM THE OTHER END OF THE FUCKIN' ROOM!!!"

It's annoying how he's trying too hard to make it sound like he's not reading from a script
waywardTruth33 lol
It bugged me to no end. At least be upfront and just make a regular review video like every other reviewer instead of a fake conversation.
Yeah it was obvious, and it didn't feel natural at all. Lol.
waywardTruth33 I'm assuming you're guessing...God forbid somebody prepared a script that corresponds to their thoughts. Let's just ignore facts and discredit anything he says because reasons:)
while what you said might be true ,it doesn't really change some valid points in the review.

War624 but did he say anything that's not true ?
the first Final Fantasy game came out just short of 30 years ago in Japan. This game was first announced 10 years ago. The development of this game took almost a full third of Final Fantasy's entire history.
Yonas Getu and it shows, this makes ff13 look like the last great entrie in the series
I think I'm misunderstanding you or that's a contradiction. I'm not sure if you're saying that it shows that they took a long time putting effort into this game and it turned out bad or something else?

yeah i get the confusion. it shows in the sense its not that great, its a mess tbh.
no final fantasy 13 was great imo, i liked it alot. i dont see 15 as a ff game thats why i said 13 the last great one. as the 13-2 and lightning returns are not main entries, wheter they are good or not doesnt matter.
and 14 mmo i also dont count as main entries. hope it makes sense. and yeah im also abit heart broken about the way 15 turned out. the series has changed from a uniqe and beautiful thing to something that wants to do what all the cool and popular kids do. it kinda looses it soul.
but dont get me wrong, im still playing it.
it just lacks that exitement i got from ff games
I believe the first 7 Final Fantasy games combined took less time to make than FFXV.
I don't get how he criticises the game for being to much of a final fantasy game and being weird? cause its to much final fantasy like what?
MasterJazz09 ya thats got to be one of the dumbest things ive heard in a game review in quite some time and i even watch ign game reviews and we all know how dumb those can be. Lol this ff is to final fantasy? Seriously? Really!?
MasterJazz09 I don't remember him saying that 🤔. Also, it's not like it matters. It got a high score either way.
They're pointing to the moments in Final Fantasy where the game decides to drastically expand the scope, where a story begins as "Escape this City, Rescue that Kingdom" and ends with "The Universe and Time Itself is going to explode if you don't kill the BadGuy of Eternal Evil."
Starts simple, then throws three tomes of epic hyper-fantasy shenanigans at you.
Heiße Henrietta he didn't say it exactly like that but it was similar
Sound For Free Mindz face palm
Reference to Stand by me sold me its my all time favorite movie
You know it was a song in the 60s first right?
wait nvm. my bad
Julian F well I think that scene was basically developers jerking themselves off to completion ...it is pretentious nostalgia bait.It is out of place in a FF game and I don't appreciate it.However I do appreciate the game .It looks like the best FF yet and I played almost all of them
Andy Manullang human-like AI you mean?
I wish they didnt go with anime voice work to portray this story. It has an odd fit with these character designs
Does seeing you here hint a possible future Boundary Brake episode of FFXV ?
It means Final Fantasy will see its day soon. Yes
I hear there's Japanese VA so that solves the English dub issue.
4.5 stars isn't bad. Honesty, that's what I was figuring from a lot. 4.5 stars. Maybe some 5 stars. 9s, 10s, somewhere around there.
the game will not get a 10 with a messed up story
Dressing007 the story is good what are you talking about?
What is with gamers thinking 4.5/5 is just "not bad"? Games don't need perfect scores to be amazing. 4.5 is 9/10, 90%, etc. Numbers are arbitrary anyway but obviously he thinks its a really good game
Illegal Meme Dealer you mean 4.5 is "good" right? please tell me that's what you meant.
Thank you! I feet the same way! The battle systems have improved imo!
Dandalorean Amen.
I'm only about half way through the game as I'm taking my time and doing side quests and exploring, but I truly do hope they make a sequel to 15 i love the main 4 characters they are very likable
star rating system sucks. just say 9/10
True, except on metacritic its marked as an 8 lol
Retro Tycoon i know, i was just talking about this video. who still says 4.5 stars?
Scoring a game overall sucks, it is better with just pros and cons.
Review Scores Suck!!!!!
I just put this game into my Top 10 Games video. What was I thinking?
Sasuke, Naruto, Asuna and Kakashi go on a road trip
Dason Greaves Oh man, I would love a Naruto RPG like that...
Ngl, I'd love to see mods for that!
'Darker and bleaker than anything before' - WTF, did the reviewer even play Type-0
Well XV was developed by the same Lead as Type-0
Or Crisis Core. That game was bleak af
Pretty sure he was referring to the rest of the game, not the rest of the franchise.
Spartan S oh please doesn't invalidate his point that it is darker than say FF X which was one of the most juvenile games in the series
I found FF VI (6) to be very dark. Crisis core wasn´t as bleak as FF VII to me.
much better review than the one from gamespot
Yeah, that review felt pretentious. Still, it kinda draws my attention the diference on Noctis' squad reviewer comments. Gamespot's reviewer was kinda "meh", and this reviewer praised the party. I guess is up for each of us to call if it's a good cast of characters or not
cubbex he isn't wrong. u have to play the game to make an opinion. I mean just look up the review of the last of us by gamespot they gave the game a 8/10 too.
Do not trust on reviews, especially when it's about jrpgs.
cubbex I think I remember you, you're kind of an ass I swear
And I bet you didn`t even play the game yet.
771dego wrong
before watching this review I will say I am gonna buy this game without any review opinions
well I did that with any FF games since FF7, always day one buy :)
Noctis isn't a teen -.- They're all in their 20's.
early 20's is considered late teen.
***** I guess you still might look like a teen but you're not.
Also he's not angsty he's moruning the death of his father which would depress anyone.
TheKestevon *Steps back* What?!
there's a cut scene when you sleep in old lestallum where you have a conversation with prompto and they say they've been friends since the beginning of high school and say it was five years ago. so as a freshman you're probably around 14 or 15 so those 2 are about 19 or 20. the other 2 I'm not sure about, obviously older but not by much. except maybe ignis.
I'm about 15 hours in and I still don't fully understand the battle system. At least it looks cool.
Major Lee Haha, did you bother with the tutorial? >_
Yeah. The combat is just very speedy.
old school ff player? me too haha so different
old school in the house, lol
combat is fun as long as u stick to the larger open areas.
BenG But how the hell is an 8/10 at all bad? It just means it's not perfect, but still a great game. People are ridiculous.
Joe Schena must be kids thinking 8/10 is bad, back when we had to rely on magazines for game info and reviews 8/10 was pretty damn good
No way dude zelda will get a 9 or 10
BenG yeah. Old franchises now have so much baggage that they bring. It's next to impossible to fully satisfy anybody anymore.
But they gavea dumb game like COD 9/10, how is that possible?
I'm only getting this game for that sick transforming car you get
apparently you don't get the transformation until postgame...
So you didn't like the game because you weren't forced to do things you may or may not have liked?
It actually has the most incoherent and incomplete story of any FF ever.
im so pumped! I've waited 10 years and its less than 24 hours away! the hype is real!
Was it worth it?
3:30 It's Hurley!!
thought the same thing haha
YES, was thinking the same. This comment! :}
We have to go back!
That's gonna be one hell of a sidequest, Dylan!
Can't wait for my deluxe edition to arrive!! It's currently in mail now... Ohh.. the agonising wait!!!!!!
Snigdhaman Chatterjee hopefully your mail man isnt a ff fan and steals your package. Lol jk man im sure it will all be fine. Have fun w it bro.
Pre-order and deluxe edition? You cancer
RUclips Hero It's not often that I pre order games but FFXV is worth it. Even the reviews are strong!! I don't see any fault in supporting my favourite franchise. Uncharted 4, Ratchet n Clank and FFXV are my only preordered games of 2016. Not a bad record by any means ;)
chris korol Heh heh... that thought even crossed my mind :p
Holy shit, 3:32 How did they get the guy from Lost in the game.
Kevin holy fuck! Hurley!
I know, right! How did he get off the island.
So half a star less than what you gave XIII? I don't know what to make of it tbh.
You shouldn't go by scores, you go by what they said. Also a 5, years ago is maybe a 2 now, tastes and gameplay trends change.
Madness1 I know, I was just teasing. They even talk about "redeeming the series" so they have perfect notion that the perfect score they gave XIII was completely unjustified.
How did XIII get good reviews??? It's the only FF game (other than online) that I started and did not complete. Looking forward to this one though
This guy gave FFXIII a 5/5? LOL, I guess I wasted my time here, he doesn't know what a good FF game is.
Tang A-lang GamesRadar did, whether this reviewer rated it, I cannot say.
Hey GamesRadar, just happened upon your channel I can say I dig you review format; it feels candid, casual and raw, which are the things I like. I only have an issue with the mic setup :). Hope ya fix it.
So is this game playable after you beat the main story like can you go back to the open world and do all the side quests?
Yep!
Final Fantasy games usually have a New Game+ mechanic instead, restarting the game with everything you've acquired but with the world consisting entirely of supermobs.
+♞ Go Fuck Yourself ♞ ff7 dident I was on that star screen for 20 mins until I realised it was just a loop
Robert Melia Well it was the first 3d game though and the team was behind schedule so they couldn't implement a lot of the things they wanted.
Fishhead355: or you could do the quest first then the mainstory :P im doing that and bought ff15 3days ago already level 40 with just the sidequest :P
how many outfits are in the game? is there more than what's in the demo?
Plzz answer me have ffxv sound from PS4 controller?
I had the oportunity to see the game for like 6 hours. The characters are great, the story is ok, the gameplay is great and the fighting style is great but has been done before and maybe better in other games so it didnt felt that much original.
Overall a great game, the guy who actually got to play it hard said the open world is vast enough to feel free but felt like there were not enough sidequests, he said it would be great at an 8.5/10 and that it is the right direction for the series to go.
With the story comments, did you watch the anime and Kingslgave? I especially enjoyed the anime but am curious is to how it affects the quality of the story.
2:06 He's actually 20, but great a review!
Question: Is there any immediate replayability or can you do everything the first play through? I'm curious why you would play through it again unless there were different paths you could take or decisions you could make.
Thank you for making this video, Incredible!!! This year we are celebrating our 30 years
Are there any races in the game or not?
nope, it's suppose to be "real" and not as diverse as other FFs
It's a fantasy based on reality; so just those dam humans
I always have Noctis wear a hat and normal clothes, and everyone else the same. Suddenly, Noctis's hair looks less ridiculous and everyone looks normal and badass.
it should have gotten a 9.5
Saad Waheed 9.0*
I think he was actually saying it should have got a 9.5/10 (or 4.75/5), I don't think he was trying to tell them they should use "out of 10" system in which it would have been a 9/10
I love the natural format instead of reading from the script. It would be cool if the second person also had some opinions, but I realize it's almost impossible to have two informed reviewers during a period like this. Subscribed :)
Hey suggest where to play....?
is it bugged ? do you need to wait for patches ? or you can just play it without any problems ?
Ok if i get that straight. We have a RPG game (Role Playing Game) with:
1. Bad story and quests and battles not related to the scenario.
2. Indifferent characters you don't get attached with
3. Repetitive battle system.
4. One character control.
5. Irritating camera on fights
AND you say it is decent and give it 4.5/5.
What did i get wrong here? So if it didn't have (which it has) great graphics it would get what kind of score? 0/5 ?
leon voulgaris the game is pretty awesome
leon voulgaris Dude,i was thinking the same exact thing. I bought a ps4 just to play this game.I guess I can sell my ps4 now cause I have no interest in this game.
Eh your losses 👍
The 4th Horseman
I am willing to do the same thing as you did man but only for FFVII Remake. And that only if i see a bit of the gameplay and it is not as shit as the one of FFXV....
best review i heard all day
I can't help but feel that the world size becoming limited was a tactic to put more feeling into the story. It occurs towards the very end when the tensions are incredibly high and I think they used the open world design at the start to accentuate the fact that their world is becoming more chlostropbic feeling. I doubt the devs would half-ass the game after a certain point like that, especially after 10 years of development.
What's the release date on PC?
Nice to hear that final fantasy, after all those years, finally got its grasp again
Thanks for recording this in your bathroom, love the echo.
THE QUALITY IS MIND BLOWING IM SCREAMING❤❤❤
Final fantasy was always about many things but denying that people like that franchise for it's characters and stories is just plain wrong
...he said the Characters were great. Have you watched the review?
odin72017 12 was fantastic for gameplay and postgame, took 200 hours to do everything
Question does final fantasy 15 have its own story?
I am kinda hyped, because I grew up playing X/X-2, but the setting of FF XV has no charme to be honest. The characters don't look special and the main one is basically Sasuke from Naruto in looks and fighting style.
Eckino E the characters actually surprise you. The game goes out of its way to make you think their stereotypical anime characters only for you to be taken off guard by the good writing and character. I have never been so caught off guard by characters in a game since I first played kingdom. Cause I first that was going to be a dumb anime Disney game. I was caught off guard
Alex Mansfield it got more emotional and gets you more invested into their characters eh
Am I doing something wrong? On second chapter and still no new weapons. Just the basic ones and I'm at level17 from lots of grinding. Please help.
I hate You -you can either go to outposst and towns that have a weapon vendor, or you can get them by going to the treasure points on your map
Ben Stead that's what I did. The guy at the store near hammer and near the ocean sells nothing but one weapon.
I hate You -I would suggest furthering the story until you open the blocked roads once you do that there are a lot of vendors who sell good weapons
and here i thought i was going to play watchdogs 2 tomorrow on pc.
This looks like one of the best games ever made, and I've never played a Final Fantasy game before. Can anyone confirm this?
Final Fantasy XV is the first Final Fantasy I ever completed, at around 38 hours, at lvl 52. I really enjoyed the game, but the story certainly suffered from the lack of linearity and backstory. I only rented it, though I may actually wind up buying it on sale so that I can go back and complete all the side quests.
Much better review than Gamespot!
The variety of things to do in the open world looks sweet. Even makes fishing look like fun!
is the shuriken from the platinum demo in ffxv cuz 7 haven't seen it.
This game reminds me a lot of Dragon Age Inquisition, and that's not a bad thing.
I've only played 5 hours of it, but unless it improves dramatically, it is a top 15 (numbered) Final Fantasy (not counting sequels or spin offs).
why are people not complaining about the lack of linear levels and the fact that towns have made a comeback? All the people that defended Xiii was a good video game?
Dude there will not be a honest review for this game until the game is at least a week old. All you see now is sponsored stuff with "the game is so great, GO BUY IT"
and those people who rushed the game to put out a review
xAssassin24 what you mean?
billyblackburn87 He probably continued my comment...seems to be so.
Question; Can you play without the other 3 members of the group?
Thanks. Just wondering since some games would allow you to roam without the members. I prefer solo combat with a party there for cutscenes. I'm sure it's still great having them around though. I'll find out for myself soon.
They're all pretty much as strong as your character so you don't have to babysit them
xAssassin24
Good to know. Thanks.
I just designed a character named Noctis like a year ago, that's funny.
But why's it look like he's about to fall over when he runs ? lol
I never really got deep into final fantasy so I can't call myself a fan by any stretch but I do like the franchise, and this one looks great.
keero kamiya fuck off
Dog Doug What's your problem?
The character Noctis in Final Fantasy 15 is a decade old.
Jim Fitton Yes and as I stated already quite clearly I said I made one like a year or so ago, and I'm not a huge FF fan so I wouldn't know about this Noctis, hence my statement about being a funny coincidence . so what?
THNXS!
i loved the game but it was a little short for me, i havent played a final fantasy game in-depth since 10 and i always like leaving most of the side-quests up to the point where you have the open world unlocked and your about to head into the sinal battle, it wasnt until i was wandering around in chapter 14 that i realised id left it all a bit too late lol
Has any of the season pass content been revealed yet?
DLC 1 - Booster Pack (random weapons and gear [free])
DLC 2 - Episode Gladio (full side story where you play as Gladio [paid])
DLC 3 - Holiday Pack (random weapons and gear themed after the holidays [free])
DLC 4 - Episode Prompto (full side story where you play as Prompto [paid])
DLC 5 - Episode Ignis (full side story where you play as Ignis [paid])
DLC 6 - Expansion Pack (adds multiplayer, endgame content, and more small things [free or paid, we don't know])
The episodes take place at a point in the story where that companion is off on their own, it is not necessary for the story, however it will enlighten a few pieces.
Is this a joke or are you serious? +Tiber Septim
lol
Thanks, doesn't sound too exciting. I was expecting something like the Dragonage and Witcher end game expansions.
Count Artorias I am 100% serious.
Is there a new game plus feature to the game?
Stop reading from a script, this sounds like an ad buy. I normally choose you guys as my go-to for reviews because you use smart answers after smart questions and the review seems real and tells me more than a number could.
I went back and play Final Fantasy Dissidia and it was still as fun as to play as I remembered I hope it gets remastered in some form one day
does this game have new game plus?
i HAVE A QUESTION. IS THE SHURIKEN FROM THE PLATINUM DEMO IN FFXV CUZ I HAVE SEEN IT ANYWERE
So after playing with Google's translator, I've found out that the lad's names are Latin.
Noctis -> Midnight
Ignis -> Fire
Prompto -> Ready
Cor -> Heart
But what the heck is Gladiolus' names origin?
Great review!!!
never played a final fantasy game.. should i get this?
Ya, it's pretty good if you like more in-depth hack-and-slash games with a good narrative and a very interesting and dense open world.
90% of people who ask this happen to have cod and bf videos uploads on their channel. I mean, do i even need to be surprised?
Haohmaru HL And the problem is?
The Commenter thanks, i think ima pick it up
3:35 Is that Hurley??? lol
I totally agree with their comments. For me the thing I hate most about this game was the camera movements while in combat. You guys have no idea how many times I had to take a break from the game after battling some huge enemies because I totally get disoriented and nauseous after each battle.
pessoal eu bati final no final fantasy xv é agora não consigo continuar o jogo sempre q logo vai para o último mestre. alguém sabe como eu volto para o mundo livre?
prompto reminds me of Zell
Dincht
Glad I'm not the only one who thought that.
Great review guys!
Great use of a movie reference "Motorcycle Diaries" nicely done!!!
10 Years waiting for 20 Hours of Story gameplay? No thx. The Game is too short.
I gave 3+1/2 Stars.
Thats if you are only playing story... There is tons of shit too do in the game...
this is everything ive wanted from FF
Brilliant review. Subscribed.
great review. I may be picking it up now. thanks!
That what happens when you make an open world game, more focus had to be directed to the open world aspect than the story
xAssassin24 true but still it sucks i liked the open the world, but the tory ad the lore of the story is what intrigued me the most.
He's finishing up the last of the side-quests after only a little over 50 hours?
steel16880 ikr sounds like a small game relatively modt other ff games take atleast 100 hours to do everything
Fingers998 Especially on your first time through. If I were to go back and 100% some of the final fantasy games it would take around 60-65 hours for 7, 50 hours for 8 and around 100 hours for 10. (Lots of blitzball and the monster arena takes quite a bit of time)
Kind of disappointing to get around the same length as the shortest of the PS1 games.
steel16880 I've never heard anyone say that the game is "short" so if I were you, I'd take what I'm hearing with a grain of salt. Alot of these guys are playing with guides in order to give a quick review. How else would he know how many side quests he has left?
Black Diamond *"Alot of these guys are playing with guides in order to give a quick review."* With a guide it's little more than 50 hours is still disappointing. The world is huge or so I've heard though, so that'll take a lot of time to explore hopefully.
steel16880 Oh I see
Thank you finally someone with half a brain reviewing this game! I absolutely LOVE this game
I actually liked this review....I haven't seen many of their other reviews but they seems to do reviews better in ways
"whatsthat look for" its so cute how he said it
Great review!!
best game I've played in years.
wildbastian How big is the open world of ffxv ? How does it compare to the witchers 3's open world ?
i just want to say if you watch the ff15 movie, there will be lots of things that you mentioned gonna make sense
should I watch the anime and movie before playing?
Not necessary
*****
sorry, I should've clarified, I'm going to watch them, my question is do they take place before the game chronologically?
Only if you're a masochist.
They weren't very good.
lostn65
yeah but apparently they help you understand the story of the game so...
lostn65 The movie was extremely good
Nice game informer gave it a 8/10 this review was much better
