Blooey agreed. I think Angry Joe has the best reviews when he actually does them, but those are more like shows, and they're few and far between. ACG has been my absolute go-to for quite a while now. Should be the top gaming channel, period, IMO.
Rawley Fear ACG reminds me of Adam Sessler from the G4 TV shows (Extended Play/X-Play). Besides Adam Sessler and now ACG, Gametrailers was my go to review outlets.
+Rawley Fear Angry Joe isn't that good in my opinion. I find his videos entertaining but I don't find his reviews to be as well structured as many other reviewers and I don't like how a lot of his reviews revolve more around his opinion instead of giving a subjective run down like ACG does for example but that's mostly what makes him entertaining and I understand why people would prefer that.
Arnell Long Same here. Gametrailers shut down, but they go under the name Easy Allies now on RUclips. I was ecstatic when I heard they were still going to be making reviews and videos in general.
Sorry I just hate taking credit for something that isn't on purpiose lol. And didn't want you to be in here expecting NORMAL you know me man. I aint normal
I wanna add on to what you said at the beginning about being a fan and such. At the beginning of the game , it literally said "Final Fantasy XV A game for new comers". This is my first final fantasy and I've been waiting for it for almost a year. Square did right with this game . They added a open world which new players shouldn't have a problem operating . They implemented a new combat system that's easy to adjust to and perfect . They added side quest and missions similar to those in Western RPGs. Square tried their hardest to implement Western RPG elements with JRPG without any drawbacks and they did perfectly with it . I think this is a must buy because this game is truly something amazing and I love it !
I haven't played it, but after watching reviews what you're saying is how I'm expecting the game to be. I love Final Fantasy, and from what I've seen, it would be an incredible surprise if I didn't love it.
Jerry That's also true. Instead of rating it a 5 or a 9. It's more simple as a Buy, wait for sale, rent, or don't buy at all. Some people may enjoy a game as much as others. I also do like that he puts his personal enjoyment in the criteria too, since everyone is going to have a different feeling about it.
I am already 35 hours in, hardly touched the main quest as been busy side questing and site seeing and bloody loving every bit of it. As far as I am concerned it is highly recommended.
I wonder Why so many people say this game is about 40hours long, cause i'm in chapter 2 and 24hours into the game and there's still soooo much to do... I also do every side quest, races, fishing, pinball machines sometimes and exploring.. I bet most reviewers just rush true the story and dont do all the extra's. When you only do story quests in Witcher 3 you also could finish the game in about 40hours but with all side quests, treasure hunts and exploring the game was more then 140hours long! I bet FF15 will also reach about 100+ hours before finished when you do everything, people who dont do side questen and other stuff then only story arent true RPG players is my tought
I really needed this video K. I come here for your reviews always when I want to get a game. I feel like you're the voice on my shoulder telling me to get a game or leave it behind.
Always a pleasure to hear a nuanced review, not bashing the game on one or two mechanics, but also not building it up as something it's not because of the hype factor (or fanboyism). Will see that for myself next weekend.
I have ffxv and decided to watch your vid because it's the only thing I can do to contribute to your channel right now . Just wanna say this is another great review. thx
buy it. my first final fantasy. side note: this morning I played and heard prompto saying something to ignis about him as a kid and I legit started cracking up so hard unlike I've ever done before
Yea it was funny I walked into a certain area (don't want to spoil anything so being vague) and prompto mentions something in the area and Noctis say "here it comes" and promoto starts singing, Ignis tells him to focus and when prompto keeps singing Noctis just says "and he's gone" I mean it's silly to laugh at but it adds a nice touch to the characters and they just do random things like that. 19 hrs in and I'm loving this game so far. don't get me wrong there are some annoyances I have but I can nitpick at any games about something that annoys me even my all time favorites.
teppolundgren Oh that's right I'm so sorry we are all supposed to think, act, and like the same things as you right? Too bad. Look I don't know if you are just hating on it or trolling or whatever. Still if you don't like the game then wtf are you commenting for? Why are you wasting your time commenting on this video for a "piece of shit game?"
"and particles just showering off weapon attacks like someone just discovered the particle generator in the graphics engine and said: yeah, I bet more is better" Your humor doesn't go unnoticed!
Just started watching your reviews and I love that I can understand what your talking about and how you put things in gameplay perspective story sound and visual. I have to agree with almost everything
You do get an offroad version of the Regalia a quarter way in doing the side quests. A boat, mostly for fishing, and the chocobos... just FUN. Picked this game up 2 years late but so far I'm loving it. Im so glad to see that they attempted a renovation of the game by innovating, whilst still adding in all kinds of fan fare . He is right that some things fall flat, but this goes for all games in this series. The live action is refreshing, though i think the magic system was too gutted as compared from previous titles. It is cool that you can mix and test out different spells however, adding items to change its type or powers to a degree. In any case if you like the series, your missing out if you don't play this game
Good review! I like the fact that you point a technical point of view, and a more casual too! thats important in these kind of videos because the market of games is not entirelly composed by hardcore gamers, or casual gamers. subscribed
I bought the premium edition at a 60% sale yesterday and I must say I love it. Sure, it's kinda repetitive, but I don't really mind it here. I spent about 6 hours playing it and didn't even go to the second chapter yet. Exploring this world is so fun. Gotta love the monster design, and the World looks so stunning it really does let you sink into it. Battle system is super fun, too. It's not just holding one button. There's magic, awesome co-op moves from your teammates, parrying, evading and stuff. Also, this is my first FF game ever so I understand some fans from 90 years ago may be frustrated with the battle system and open world. But seriously, I really like the game and would recommend it to everyone with open-mind and a liking to open-world. On a side note, really good review from ACG, very insightful and helpful. Keep up the good work.
This game did something I've yet to see done before. It mixes all the things that makes a JRPG what it is with the formula of a WRPG and it freaking works and it works well. Been waiting 5 years to play this game and I gotta say I'm not disappointed yet.
same you're one of the reviews i count on for all my games coming out. giving us the truth about games no sugar coating bs. Just picked mine up after work today will get into it tomorrow.... Going to be a long work day tomorrow lol
Just wanted you to know (and I hardly ever comment on videos) this was one of the best, unbiased, most complete, and professional review I have ever watched that was done on a video game. Thank you for caring enough to deliver a quality review for those of us who are interested in the quality of a game.
Thank you. Great review as always. With my current list it will be on sale by the time i buy it in a month or 2 and hopefully them bugs will be fixed, looks fun tho
for me: this game is worth the money, it's was a long time since i had THAT much fun with a Game. for others that are unsure about it: wait till christmas PSN Sales. Because we all know that the Price drops on christmas are huge everytime.
excellently worded, my friend. you are delivering your reviews with familiarity, wisdom and always a pounding humor. that comment on voice timing killed me.
I already ordered the ultimate collectors edition but its going to take until Friday to get here. Lucky redbox had a copy so I can at least get a head start. So far this is was indeed worth the 10 year wait.
I picked this up yesterday, I'm not in the slightest bit disappointed and this is the first FF game I've been able to immerse myself into and really enjoy. Great review, very in depth as always.
Great review. I think your summed up the combat perfectly. Everyone else is like: 'it's simplistic. Next'. One thing I found about the game, sound-wise, was that sometimes all you hear is footsteps while travelling across a road or through a small town. Like, there wasn't any wind, music or any other sound at all. And that's okay sometimes, but when you're in an area where there would definitely be some general noise, it's very noticeable.
I never thought the speed of your speech was an issue but I'm glad you slowed down a bit because those viewers who were having a tough time get to enjoy these amazing reviews! Keep it up good sir you never cease to amaze me with these reviews. Hell I don't even have any interest in most of the games you review, however your content and attention to detail is beautiful!
Sup Strangely More people dislike slower videos than dislike fast ones actually. By a massive number according to the watch metrics. But I didn't actually slow down. I just talk. there isn't any kind of beat per minute counter in the background or anything so if the next one is faster sorry:( And thanks man
Think ill wait for a PC port. Just starting getting into PC gaming and built my first rig a few weeks ago, and I dont think i can go back to 30fps again
Damion Lawson you'll be waiting a long time for a poorly optimised mess. Square aren't very good at PC ports and they haven't announced any plans to port XV
how you watch 4k on 30 something monitors you pc gamers are weak ... 4k is made for visuals why play it on a small ass screen .. fast frame rate is not 4k
Without a doubt you are the best reviewer on youtube. Ive watched them all and the way you break down everything instead of ramble on about dumb stuff. Love your review system and I hope im here when you hit one million. It will happen. Keep on keeping on brother.
Don't normally leave comments but, as a somewhat long time viewer, I'll say great review and nice, as always, to hear you touch on the music. I have a sore spot for music in any medium and you are the only reviewer (that I know of) who reviews this every, single time. Also, this will be your last review I watch before becoming a Patron. I start on December 1st ☺️ Cheers!
Haha, if it's a japanese game (or show for that matter) and I'm given the option I'll always take the Japanese voices but good to have that decision reconfirmed.
28OntheRise well you also know that japanese to english is purposely changes right? like youll notice that "hey thats not what they said at all" a lot but its changed because japan and western languages are completely different so to have the same impact on a person the words have to be changed to fit that areas dialect without changing the meaning or the impact so while they may have said something completely different it still strikes the same strings its just better tailed to where you grew up :P a little food for thought lol
28OntheRise I'm the same way. But this game with English subs is a bit weird. You'll lose alot of random battle dialouge and I swear to fuck alot of snippets of dialouge are missing in general. On top of someone who reads fast these subtitles go quick and I have played alot of subtitled content. Not breaking but enough for me to decide to muddle through this awkward English dialogue my first play through
Haven't played a FF game since 1-5. I may have to try this for one reason..... you said it hardens to Dragons Dogma. The most criminally underrated and fun as hell game. One that deserves a sequel or remaster at the min. I digress. Not sure if the story will grab me as these tend to be very Asian stilted no disrespect intended. But man the monsters look beastly. Thanks karak
yes it did but you really need to use Nexus Mod to get the most out of it. DD2 the MMO in Japan is not a real sequel, cash grab I think.. I would love a full remaster and a new one. I adored this game.
Just have to say I'm super glad someone commented on the frame tear and blurriness of this title. I had to google if there was something wrong with my console several times.
Does this man always deliver, or what. Awesome, detailed & coherent review as always. You break down games in such a way, that it truly leaves you with a clear unbiased subjective choice in purchasing. Thank you for your service my good man!
To think I used to love Final Fantasy too. This just doesn't feel like a Final Fantasy to me. Good job with the review ACG, even if I don't entirely agree.
Dante Vic A game changing some stuff isnt bad, but this is just Final Fantasy by name. Where is the diverse party members I used to love picking up through out the story? Where is the class systems? Used to love having black mages and healers, now those are no more. Only thing in here that is still Final Fantasy is some of the enemies, chocobos and old sound tracks.
I hear you, I agree with you not going knock the game, but it doesn't seem like FF game, but again SE is trying something new, FF7 remake going have same combat system, but funny thing is FF7 remake just looks more engaging maybe its character design, set pieces, whatever it looks far more engaging.
Cody Pin if it sells really well on console and they can get that ps pro 60fps patch out like promised, with all the positive reviews and gamer feedback, I could see it coming to PC maybe as a special edition at the end of the year (2017) it would make a lot of financial sense on squares part, but I suppose only if they were going to see a return profit on the time and effort it would take to make a really good and optimised version
Im a massive ff fan but i beat the game in under 30 hours and i was taking my time doing side quests, the combat was pretty linear and the summons annoyed me.3 times i got to summon in the whole game all being ramuh i honestly wished they added the option to summon whatever 1 you choose but adding a cooldown to the summon, that and the short story upset me the most.I love this game dont get me wrong but theres so many things that could have made this game even more amazing,6 summons but constantly summoning 1 specific 1 ever rare occasion makes me question why they are in the game to begin with
DestanyZer0 If you beat the story in 30 hours you probably only did a tiny fraction of the sidequests. i'm 11 hrs in and am still on chapter 3. The side content really is the best part of this game.
Ive done alot of the side quests and hunts i was around leve 46 when i beat the game, also they said the story was 40hours long that didnt include the sides and such so they lied technically
This review is soo well thought out and precise. I love the sharp and quick delivery of your thoughts and your voice does not get annoying at all. 100% Quality. Thanks for your work.
The strategic combat with over mighty bosses are gone, there's no bosses like Gilgamesh on history quests, nor it has any kind of hard/time consuming bosses like Yiazmat or Omega. Also I feel like the lore and the history itself isn't nearly as good as FFXII. Way too much cliches and shit.
You reviews are phenomenal. I have needed a reviewer replacement since the shutdown of Game Trailers. You exceeded my expectations as to what I thought I would find!
I'm nearly 3 hours in, just got to the first big plot point, and so far I'm enjoying it. Although, I really hope Noctis doesn't become this self loathing, kind of emo character I've been fearing since 2013.
AshXXMayftw he gets a lil depressed here and their for good reason but no as the game progresses and noctis gets older he matures alot more and he starts takig responsibility and ect. ect. Honestly around half way through the game he really starts to change personality wise and more towards the end he is similar to his fathers persona. overall i like noctis character hes pretty realistic, when hes upset its for good reason most of the time, stays cool and relaxed, has conflictions with his role and position abit at first (who wouldnt realistically? imagine your family was killed and your kingdom destroyed and next thing you know your king and you gotta take back your kingdom all within a few days span? shit most people would be feeling thousands of different emotions) but towards the end he really starts to show that he wants to take his role and do whats right.
Is it just me, or does it seem like a lot of big hyped up games like FFXV get little to no fanfare when they come out? I wasn't looking forward to this game, and I still don't plan on getting it, but it just feels like each "big" release elicits a half-assed sigh and then disappears from everyone's radar a week later. I'm not insulting FFXV by any means, but it just feels like apathy is a constant within the video game industry these days. Am I wrong in thinking this? Maybe I'm just WAY out of touch. Great review though, Karak. Sorry I didn't really comment on the video itself. Just expressing some thoughts.
ACG Oh, alright. I wasn't sure. I often feel like a cranky old man about games lately, but the landscape really is different from when I was younger. Oh well, times change, right? At any rate, great work as always, Karak.
I just can't get used to the combat. I loved the FF10 and FF12 combat, but this just isn't cutting it. Maybe it's because Dark Souls has ruined combat for me in games. It's the best real time combat. Period.
Yay! So glad you enjoyed the game, Karak! I'm just beginning my playthrough now. I know this version of the game is about 5 years in development but the wait has been 10 years and I just can't believe it's finally here.
I have to wonder why people rag/joke about on the "Boy band" look so much. Will the Persona 5 reviews have the same thing but mentioning the cast looks like Cirque Du Solieil rejects?
ACG I guess it's mostly that they're pretty boys and wear similar (but different) color coded clothes. I do think it has become overused and a cheap shot. I prefered it when for example Cr1tikal called Gladio a "Hipster Solid Snake." I'd say Ignis is a "Hipster Travis Touchdown" myself.
Cheap is simply another term for "works well enough to have been used many times" Then again who is counting? Might be someone using it the first time in their lives. I assuredly dont give a shit to judge them on word use or counting how many times they have done it.
ACG That is true. I guess cheap isn't a good word and uncreative/obvious might be a better term? It's like pointing out that the girls in Senran Kagura have big breasts. It's just something that jumped out because it was a common pattern in reviews. I do wonder if a similar obvious joke will happen with Persona 5 since it is the next big game in the genre.
Two things I loved, the Dragon's Dog,a reference! you know you miss that old banter! And when you talked about the OP Summons..I actually laughed out loud at how you described it haha
Also, thanks for just showing us the gameplay and actual relevant clips over what you're reading. Too many channels are all about their image instead of the content.
Uncharted 4 is a movie. The gameplay has no depth. I literally played so many set piece sequences in hard mode with one hand while I was on my phone. I don't know. I loved Dark Souls 3 this year but the sheer enemy and world scale and combat might take my GOTY spot. Perhaps the best Game since TW3
So when I was totally bored and underwhelmed with Uncharted 4 as a GAME based on its mechanics it was actually the best experience ever. Gotcha For the record, Jak and Daxter >>>>> Uncharted 4. Last time I checked Jak and Daxter was a platforming action adventure game with legitimate gameplay. I would not compare that to that set piece filled casual creation.
this has more to do with taste than actualy quality, you cant compare Jak and Daxter with uncharted 4, diferent genre, mechanics and even target audience. you can like one more than other, but not really state which is the better game.
Hey man. I get it. Most gamers are casual and want to see flashy shit on screen, but Uncharted 4's set pieces didn't do it for me, it kills the actual immersion when the mechanic have no depth and require 1-2 buttons while holding forward on a left analog stick. This year, imo. FFXV > Dark Souls 3 > Doom/Gears of War 4 > Ratchet and Clank >>>>>>>>>≥>>>>>>> Uncharted 4. Casual players like movies. I get it. But don't be surprised when not everybody feels the same way about Uncharted 4.
Honestly, I prefer the english voices. I just have a grudge against over-the-top japanese voice acting. I kinda miss that you left out the games biggest issue: That it's unfinished. The last third of the game feels incredibly rushed and basically reeks of cut content. It may be the best unfinished game i played so far, but it's still unfinished. Wich makes me mad, because it could have been a fantastic game, and not just an enjoyable one.
I live ff 15 a a game but I hate it as a ff game, It compleatly get rid of what make ff games grate which is making stratiges and having to change them up when a enemy or a boss compleatly screws with them.
considering the timeframe that tabatha had to complete the game, it turned out extremely well. unfortunately a lot of planned content gets cut but stuff gets cut from games and movies all the time.
loved x loved 12 liked 13-2 and love 15 if you honestly dont like this game based soly on the fact that its not atb or turn based then you have bigger issues to address
Hell no. Start from 1, or at least watch the movies covering the Cloud Strife era I mean yes the game ARENT tied and they all have different story lines and worlds But c'mon. Cloud strife era was amazing
Alexander Mullins Final Fantasy games don't usually connect except for the few that have the same numbered title like ff13, ff13-2, and ff13 Lightnings Return (or something like that). So you can feasibly start wherever you want in the series.
Been watching your reviews for awhile and I gatta say very very consistent. Always hits on the important points and even touches on subjects like frame pacing etc... that most outlets won't dare touch for fear of community backlash. Sub'd
I'm confused on how the gameplay is so heavily applauded regularly. The combat is just spam if it's weak enemies, spam and dodge for equal strength or higher enemies and basically gives not much variety in what you can do. Big enemies basically are a complete analing to fight because they literally just flail about and soak up the most damage. Your team mates get themselves fucked up all the time which just makes them the main consumers of your healing items . They also dont believe in blocking attacks btw. Most of the quests are: go there, fight, go back. This would take a majority of time souly due to the big and empty wasteland this game is based in. I'm not saying that ACG is bias or anything. But most people who reviewed this game are basically just desperately appreciating anything which square enix could of pulled out their ass in 10 years. This games a below average 4/10 for me. I'll wait patiently for Fanboys...
+ Super Duper S.P Agreedx1000. I later found magic just rips through enemy and that pissed me since I prefer non-magic combat with exception of healing and summons-which unfortunately function as a last resort. Battles especially hunts weren't necessary are hard as they were long. And they just dragged on and on. I usually had to start my hunts at the earliest possible so I wouldn't have to deal with Daemons by the time I finished. I was probably allocating my points wrong but I shouldn't be spending a half hour on a non-boss fight anyway. I wanted the gameplay to be good because quite frankly I didn't care about the chars or the story but man did it disappoint.
man for a new comer in FF series i actually like this type combat compared to the turn based ones....maybe cause i grew up playing hack and slash games like god of war and dmc.....i actually like this combat...but i respect ur opinion
Oh so you mean basically like, idk, every single older FF title? Where you can win by simply spamming attack and occasionally throw out a phoenix down on any non superboss enemies?
So as someone who followed this since 2006, who was skeptical as hell about it over the last year and who loves the living fuck out of this game now. I don't know man. You gotta look at the monstrous RPG franchises that opened and finished in that 10 year period. Fuck. But I hope SE gets their shit together logistically about modern Game development. This was a good step in the right direction and hopefully CyberConnect2's FF7 is good and SE pushes out quality games in a more expedient time frame. Worth 10 years? I don't know. Before it came out I thought anything short of a 97 on metacritic would be a flop consider the resources. Lol. But I'm loving it. I wasn't crying every night for it. So I think it was.
I have to say, I've now seen 3 videos including yours that are reviews for this game and yours is hands down the best. Hit on almost every point and before I was hesitant to try this game but now with this in depth review I'm going to give it a shot so thanks!
Really good job on this review! It was really smooth and well put together and even if I didn't agree with some things you said I respected it because of the backup you had behind your opinions.
Open world RPG's are my favorite kind of games but unfortunately FFXV just looks to damn rediculous for me. I'm not saying it's the games fault, it's my own, for some reason the crazing looking creatures and characters are just too weird for me. So even though I'm really desperate for an open world game to get lost in this winter, especially now that Watch_Dogs turned out to be a steaming POS on PC, I don't know if I'll get FFXV just because it's apparently too high fantasy for me to get into.
ACG Glad to hear it, I thought was mentally broken since I think those giant swords look absolutely ridiculous and everyone else seems to be cool with it, also whenever I post a comment like my original one in a FFXV video I usually get told to go to hell and die or something like that so I figured maybe I was just an asshole... All personal preference I guess.
Troy Montana I did see that, my comment was mainly saying that usually I can either look past it or actually grow to like it, like in the case of MGSV I liked the mix of hard core military stealth shooter with some goofy stuff and elements of magic. But anyways I usually like JRPG's but FFXV is far too crazy and ridiculous in its design choices for me personally.
I gotta say I disagree with this review, quite a bit. Not that what you are saying is not true, but the story and piss poor to non existent side quests just entirely ruin the experience.
my problem is, for such a sprawling world, it feels totally bland and sparse. in FFXII, a tiny town had throngs and throngs of people in it, making it feel alive and bustling. When I first got to Lestallum, it looked like a half abandoned ghost town, a marketplace with only vendors and 2 customers. A cafe with one couple. Galdin Quay had 3 people on the beach. What kind of nice resort location has 3 people playing on its beaches? Not a game breaker, but it really feels bare and underdeveloped. It's like, what were they doing for 10 years?
ACG needs to hit at least 1 million subscribers. He's the best reviewer in the whole industry right now.
Blooey Yeah I was upset that a lot of the best reviewers were being shut down.
Nice to see that you have slowed down in your speech, what a professional review. Applaud!
uhm...actually no sorry man. Its faster than many. Though still too slow for me.
ACG Then keep up the pace..uhm..i mean excellent work. lol!
Sorry I just hate taking credit for something that isn't on purpiose lol. And didn't want you to be in here expecting NORMAL you know me man. I aint normal
ACG me neither, i am a game freak.
Deco Not at all
I wanna add on to what you said at the beginning about being a fan and such.
Aaron King playing right now just beautiful game, combat and music fits perfectly..that action...I'm in love
Been playing for 5 hours and I must say this game is amazing
Played over 12 hours, haven't even finished chapter 3
TheHelloMega lol same. completionist syndrome
You're the only review I watch. It's so unbiased, real, and in depth.
Duelse this is true, but at least he isn't sponsored so it's a real opinion, and he goes into it enough that you can forge your own opinion
He pretty much means, it's his opinion, it isn't bought by companies. Whereas IGN clearly is in the pockets of the Call of Duty devs.
Duelse This is true. However, the format for review make it a little easier to understand WHY he rates the game the way he does imo.
Gabriel Carrasco if it isn't cod, it's not a 5 star game
Jerry That's also true. Instead of rating it a 5 or a 9. It's more simple as a Buy, wait for sale, rent, or don't buy at all. Some people may enjoy a game as much as others. I also do like that he puts his personal enjoyment in the criteria too, since everyone is going to have a different feeling about it.
I am already 35 hours in, hardly touched the main quest as been busy side questing and site seeing and bloody loving every bit of it. As far as I am concerned it is highly recommended.
Ronen amen!!
SmokeSum NL this when ppl play Rpg type games like Fps games..
Ronen I have a bad habit of rushing through the story. too interested to see what happens etc. I beat it in roughly 20 hours :u
SmokeSum NL you realise reviewers tend to have to rush through to game just to make sure they get the review out on time right?
I was about to click on the GameSpot review buy I decided to reload my feed and this popped up lol. I'm sure this will informative as always.
enjoy
ACG sorry for my bad grammar lol
I really needed this video K. I come here for your reviews always when I want to get a game. I feel like you're the voice on my shoulder telling me to get a game or leave it behind.
Always a pleasure to hear a nuanced review, not bashing the game on one or two mechanics, but also not building it up as something it's not because of the hype factor (or fanboyism). Will see that for myself next weekend.
thanks sir
I have ffxv and decided to watch your vid because it's the only thing I can do to contribute to your channel right now . Just wanna say this is another great review. thx
thanks tosh
buy it.
my first final fantasy.
side note: this morning I played and heard prompto saying something to ignis about him as a kid and I legit started cracking up so hard unlike I've ever done before
prompto is my favorite
Why are you wasting your time commenting on this video for a "piece of shit game?"
teppolundgren Yea ok then
Reminds me of Dragon Age Origins.
I was waiting for this with as much excitement as I was the actual title!! thanks brother!!!
thanks
so I rate reviews on an epic, kinda dope, ign, or paid promo on back of a disc box and this is epic. u slayed bro, great video.
ko-b hop I knowwwww!!!!
Did...Promto just hum the victory theme?
I'm definitely gonna love him as a character now
yep it was awesome the first time I heard it
Yes the best reviewer is back! Let's watch the review now! :)
Waited for this review. Might take a day or two longer but this is the best out there. Thanks for your content!
1:04 OKAY I legit thought that was a real fucking omelette MIND GENUINE BLOWN.
haha yea, i watched some walkthrough and most of the food was looking so real, i got hungry couple of times xD
lol it says "Kenny's salmon" If you look at it closely it looks like a salmon steak with a plastic bag melted over it. I will pass.
@gisforgary A plastic bag? I thought that was cheese on it.
gisforgary A plastic bag? What the fuck do you eat?
Nexus well i only eat plants, so there is that, but its obviously a salmon steak with hollandaise, not an omelette with cheese.
"and particles just showering off weapon attacks like someone just discovered the particle generator in the graphics engine and said: yeah, I bet more is better"
Your humor doesn't go unnoticed!
Just started watching your reviews and I love that I can understand what your talking about and how you put things in gameplay perspective story sound and visual. I have to agree with almost everything
thanks
Bryce Douglas me2 bro
FINALLY ! Been waiting for you specifically. Hi bro 😁
sup
same you're one of the reviews i count on for all my games coming out. giving us the truth about games no sugar coating bs. Just picked mine up after work today will get into it tomorrow.... Going to be a long work day tomorrow lol
*snaps fingers*
"I've come up with a new recipe!"
I love your no-bullshit approach to reviews. Subbed!
Just wanted you to know (and I hardly ever comment on videos) this was one of the best, unbiased, most complete, and professional review I have ever watched that was done on a video game. Thank you for caring enough to deliver a quality review for those of us who are interested in the quality of a game.
thanks shawn
Because we all know that the Price drops on christmas are huge everytime.
holy shit!! The review we've all been waiting for ladies and gentlemen!!! Here we go!!!!
lol Oh Samuel L.
BLOODBORNE PVP watch your balls!
This review was so good. You crushed every other review out there. Great job.
you bet
excellently worded, my friend. you are delivering your reviews with familiarity, wisdom and always a pounding humor. that comment on voice timing killed me.
thanks sir
I already ordered the ultimate collectors edition but its going to take until Friday to get here. Lucky redbox had a copy so I can at least get a head start. So far this is was indeed worth the 10 year wait.
I picked this up yesterday, I'm not in the slightest bit disappointed and this is the first FF game I've been able to immerse myself into and really enjoy.
Great review, very in depth as always.
Never clicked a notification so damn fast 😂! Solid, in depth, QUALITY review as always ACG. Keep up the great content 👌
lol thanks
Great review. I think your summed up the combat perfectly. Everyone else is like: 'it's simplistic. Next'.
One thing I found about the game, sound-wise, was that sometimes all you hear is footsteps while travelling across a road or through a small town. Like, there wasn't any wind, music or any other sound at all. And that's okay sometimes, but when you're in an area where there would definitely be some general noise, it's very noticeable.
ya a bit lacking in enviroment
I love how this review is so not sponsored bullshit, so honest, love your reviews, thanks.
"someone just discovered the particle effects generator in the graphics engine and said yeah.. more is better".. lmfao laughed a solid 5 mins...
Oh man I want to be the creepy old guy telling young chicks they look like my daughter when I grow up.
lol
Ultra fantastic points & a solid breakdown of a fascinating RPG. I love the commentary, terrific man.
thanks
I never thought the speed of your speech was an issue but I'm glad you slowed down a bit because those viewers who were having a tough time get to enjoy these amazing reviews! Keep it up good sir you never cease to amaze me with these reviews. Hell I don't even have any interest in most of the games you review, however your content and attention to detail is beautiful!
Sup
Strangely More people dislike slower videos than dislike fast ones actually. By a massive number according to the watch metrics.
But I didn't actually slow down. I just talk. there isn't any kind of beat per minute counter in the background or anything so if the next one is faster sorry:(
And thanks man
You just gained a subscriber. I love how you break down a review into various parts. Very informative and lengthy reviews :D
Think ill wait for a PC port. Just starting getting into PC gaming and built my first rig a few weeks ago, and I dont think i can go back to 30fps again
Same dude. Just imagine how good this game will look in ultra settings and 4k though!
Damion Lawson you'll be waiting a long time for a poorly optimised mess. Square aren't very good at PC ports and they haven't announced any plans to port XV
I think you better sit while waiting. There's no plan for a PC port.
how you watch 4k on 30 something monitors you pc gamers are weak ... 4k is made for visuals why play it on a small ass screen .. fast frame rate is not 4k
+Rosa Rodriguez you can play on a big tv as well.
This is the review I was waiting for IGN and the other ones was quick and felt odd. Thank you!
I haven't been a huge FF fan since 9 but this seems like a buy for me. Looks interesting enough to keep me engaged for the long haul.
Without a doubt you are the best reviewer on youtube. Ive watched them all and the way you break down everything instead of ramble on about dumb stuff. Love your review system and I hope im here when you hit one million. It will happen. Keep on keeping on brother.
thanks dem
Don't normally leave comments but, as a somewhat long time viewer, I'll say great review and nice, as always, to hear you touch on the music. I have a sore spot for music in any medium and you are the only reviewer (that I know of) who reviews this every, single time. Also, this will be your last review I watch before becoming a Patron. I start on December 1st ☺️ Cheers!
my thanks sir you rock
Haha, if it's a japanese game (or show for that matter) and I'm given the option I'll always take the Japanese voices but good to have that decision reconfirmed.
28OntheRise well you also know that japanese to english is purposely changes right? like youll notice that "hey thats not what they said at all" a lot but its changed because japan and western languages are completely different so to have the same impact on a person the words have to be changed to fit that areas dialect without changing the meaning or the impact
so while they may have said something completely different it still strikes the same strings its just better tailed to where you grew up :P a little food for thought lol
28OntheRise I'm the same way. But this game with English subs is a bit weird. You'll lose alot of random battle dialouge and I swear to fuck alot of snippets of dialouge are missing in general. On top of someone who reads fast these subtitles go quick and I have played alot of subtitled content. Not breaking but enough for me to decide to muddle through this awkward English dialogue my first play through
nightshadow Yes I realize that lol.
28OntheRise
Yeah sounds like some scrounging bumming assholes
Haven't played a FF game since 1-5. I may have to try this for one reason..... you said it hardens to Dragons Dogma. The most criminally underrated and fun as hell game. One that deserves a sequel or remaster at the min. I digress. Not sure if the story will grab me as these tend to be very Asian stilted no disrespect intended. But man the monsters look beastly. Thanks karak
ShamelessPlace hell yeah
ShamelessPlace Didn't dragons dogma get an enhanced steam port? Basically a remaster?
yes it did but you really need to use Nexus Mod to get the most out of it. DD2 the MMO in Japan is not a real sequel, cash grab I think.. I would love a full remaster and a new one. I adored this game.
Play 6 and/or 7, those two are my favorites
YESS..was waiting on this!!....
Just have to say I'm super glad someone commented on the frame tear and blurriness of this title. I had to google if there was something wrong with my console several times.
Where have you been my whole life? Fast talking, articulate and descriptive? Consider me subscribed.
thanks Chris and welcome
love the videos btw :)
thanks
Does this man always deliver, or what. Awesome, detailed & coherent review as always. You break down games in such a way, that it truly leaves you with a clear unbiased subjective choice in purchasing. Thank you for your service my good man!
my thanks sir
To think I used to love Final Fantasy too. This just doesn't feel like a Final Fantasy to me. Good job with the review ACG, even if I don't entirely agree.
For better or worse, Final Fantasy is definitely a different beast these days.
Deceptions Wrath and that's a good thing. even ff changes things up.
Deceptions Wrath most of those are in FF14
Been with you a while now still don't understand how you don't have more subscribers!? Only reviewer that I honestly trust
Thanks man
I love your review! Have shown parts to my pupils when discussing run on sentences and why to avoid them. Makes it easy for them to grasp the concept!
is this game ever coming to PC? This game would look much better with 60 fps
Ps4 pro is getting a 60fps patch
Cody Pin Most likely, as for the last few years every FF game got a PC port after a couple of years.
Cody Pin It will it just takes time I'd say look for within mid to late 2017 or early 2018 perhaps sooner if lucky
Cody Pin I'm sure it will sooner or later but consoles need something just for them
It's a great game not Final Fantasy VII, VIII, or IX but it's a 9/10 for me. Square outdid themselves with VII, VIII, and IX.
You must be going extreamly slow if your 11 hours in and you haven't done much
DestanyZer0 Just doing all the side quests and some of the hunts. There are almost 40 side quests to do before you even get to the first summon.
DestanyZer0 same here hope the dlc is better
This review is soo well thought out and precise. I love the sharp and quick delivery of your thoughts and your voice does not get annoying at all. 100% Quality. Thanks for your work.
Pretty impressed with how fast he can narrate while still enunciating so well. Nice work
4:22 Even in Final Fantasy XV Hillary is an evil character.
That woman governor was actually good
Of course, every Hillary supporter thinks she's good. lol
Let's not bring politics here, Man, don't get me started on a sexist, misogynist, xenophobic Trump,
Says "Let's not start politics here", then right away labels the dude all the things the democrats are. I couldn't expect less from socialists.
What-you-see-is-what-you-get.. well atleast Trump turned out to be exactly who he is. Unlike FFXV...
I'm going through 30 minutes of people talking and I can't hear their voice.Rpg with no dialogue and if there is I can't hear it.
unmute ur tv
The only part of the game that wasn't voiced is the tutorials.
either somethings wrong with your tv or you ran into a bug in the game.
Are you on Xbox if so that ha happened to me you just need to change some settings to do with your sound
How does it compare to 12? I loved that game when I was younger
some say its better
sweet someone similar to me, ff12 was amazing fun for me as well
caleb slagle 12 is an amazing game, but this is... not. I'm ten hours in and I'm not sure I want to go back to it.
12 is my favorite of all time - and I played all Final Fantasy games available to date.
The strategic combat with over mighty bosses are gone, there's no bosses like Gilgamesh on history quests, nor it has any kind of hard/time consuming bosses like Yiazmat or Omega. Also I feel like the lore and the history itself isn't nearly as good as FFXII. Way too much cliches and shit.
first time subscriber. You won me with all the small details gamers look for. Thank you.
thanks Killa
You reviews are phenomenal.
I have needed a reviewer replacement since the shutdown of Game Trailers. You exceeded my expectations as to what I thought I would find!
thanks man
I'm nearly 3 hours in, just got to the first big plot point, and so far I'm enjoying it. Although, I really hope Noctis doesn't become this self loathing, kind of emo character I've been fearing since 2013.
We don't need another Cloud that's for sure.
Stefen Graham I loved cloud.
and the I could mothknow that er and is any other way I see that the day others to brightmother effect is the and drug interactions ananothing
matthew albert what
Is it just me, or does it seem like a lot of big hyped up games like FFXV get little to no fanfare when they come out? I wasn't looking forward to this game, and I still don't plan on getting it, but it just feels like each "big" release elicits a half-assed sigh and then disappears from everyone's radar a week later.
I'm not insulting FFXV by any means, but it just feels like apathy is a constant within the video game industry these days. Am I wrong in thinking this? Maybe I'm just WAY out of touch.
Great review though, Karak. Sorry I didn't really comment on the video itself. Just expressing some thoughts.
sorta ya
ACG It's just me, you're saying?
Haha, I'm not afraid to admit it if it's just me.
no saying I sorta agree
ACG Oh, alright. I wasn't sure. I often feel like a cranky old man about games lately, but the landscape really is different from when I was younger. Oh well, times change, right? At any rate, great work as always, Karak.
I just can't get used to the combat. I loved the FF10 and FF12 combat, but this just isn't cutting it. Maybe it's because Dark Souls has ruined combat for me in games. It's the best real time combat. Period.
Yay! So glad you enjoyed the game, Karak! I'm just beginning my playthrough now. I know this version of the game is about 5 years in development but the wait has been 10 years and I just can't believe it's finally here.
enjjoy
Nice, I was hoping you were going to be able to review this one. Probably the best review I've seen on the game so far.
thanks
I have to wonder why people rag/joke about on the "Boy band" look so much. Will the Persona 5 reviews have the same thing but mentioning the cast looks like Cirque Du Solieil rejects?
not sure. Apparently a widely used comparison though so that is probably an explanation in and of itself
Char Aznable Boy Bands are cool, if you're the specific demographic for it, or if you're a Gundam Wing fan :P.
why isnt this on pc, whyyyyyyyyy.
i assume in a year or two it will be,and it will blow the ps4 pros and xbones visuals out of the water
gangatalishis how about you stop being cheap and buy an Xbox or PS4 instead of begging on your knees, pathetic.
FF is crap. Consoles are crap. Japanese shitty games are crap.
Consoles are the primary gaming platform in Japan, it's almost tradition. and Final Fantasy mostly has always been on consoles.
Because no gamer likes to play on a toaster? #pcmasterrace
Playing this game I think this is one of the most amazing games to claw it's way out of development hell
Two things I loved, the Dragon's Dog,a reference! you know you miss that old banter! And when you talked about the OP Summons..I actually laughed out loud at how you described it haha
Keep doing what you're doing. Your reviews are informative and engaging, all without an arbitrary scoring system!
Also, thanks for just showing us the gameplay and actual relevant clips over what you're reading. Too many channels are all about their image instead of the content.
thanks
the car is the only thing that gives me the shits. other then that its the best game to be released since the witcher 3
There is depth to be had in the gameplay, it's just not as complex as other games. Naughty Dog have always been that way since Jak and Daxter.
So when I was totally bored and underwhelmed with Uncharted 4 as a GAME based on its mechanics it was actually the best experience ever. Gotcha
For the record, Jak and Daxter >>>>> Uncharted 4.
It'S perfectly finished.
It's okay if you don't understand it, we can't understand everything.
Sephyr ArtCore Iw ould take vesus XIII any day to this bullcrap. It is far from finished.
yes my girl has it for me I canttt waitttt!!!
Stumble upon this review and you had me hooked in the first 30 seconds! Love it and subbed!
thanks
considering the timeframe that tabatha had to complete the game, it turned out extremely well. unfortunately a lot of planned content gets cut but stuff gets cut from games and movies all the time.
The last FF game I remember really enjoying was IX. I don't know if I'd like this one.
You probably wont tbh i loved IX and cant really get into this one.
loved x loved 12 liked 13-2 and love 15 if you honestly dont like this game based soly on the fact that its not atb or turn based then you have bigger issues to address
As a long time FF fan i can tell you this is a good game, but a bad FF... if you come here expecting more IX you will be disappointed.
sauro battaglini lol bad ff this is not ff 13 not even close bud stop being stuck in the past and expecting another ff7 its not gonna happen
The guy said the last FF he enjoyed is IX, and i think its fair to say that XV is nothing like it ^^
is it easy to jump into and understand if this is your first final fantasy game? and is the story complicated or pretty simple?
ys they don't really connect
ACG thanks
ACG btw are you gonna be doing a review for the ps4 pro?
the system itself?
ACG yeah
Should I start the series here ?
Nvm
Hell no.
Start from 1, or at least watch the movies covering the Cloud Strife era
I mean yes the game ARENT tied and they all have different story lines and worlds
But c'mon.
Cloud strife era was amazing
Alexander Mullins start with this series . I started with it and don't regret anything . People say 7 was the best and I'll try that .
That was 7.
Alexander Mullins Final Fantasy games don't usually connect except for the few that have the same numbered title like ff13, ff13-2, and ff13 Lightnings Return (or something like that). So you can feasibly start wherever you want in the series.
Dude I love your reviews man you need to teach the pros! VERY informative
thanks
Been watching your reviews for awhile and I gatta say very very consistent. Always hits on the important points and even touches on subjects like frame pacing etc... that most outlets won't dare touch for fear of community backlash. Sub'd
my thanks man
I'm confused on how the gameplay is so heavily applauded regularly.
Totally agree
Is this game worth the 10 year wait?
To be honest, in my personal opinion, there's simply no game that's worth waiting 10 years for.
Largely depends on the one who's waiting
Killa-King Kong not quite. if I would be you , I would wait another 5 years. mighty be good then.
So I think it was.
did you waited for the whole 10 years? or just jumped in the hype train?
Is it just me or do the graphics look down right awful at times? Wish this was on PC feelsbadman.
I agree on some ground and rock textures but overall it's good.
It would have looked alot better if it wasn't an open world but the character models are always spot on
i don't understand why console exclusive exist
It's just your PCmasterrace superiority complex speaking.
I have to say, I've now seen 3 videos including yours that are reviews for this game and yours is hands down the best. Hit on almost every point and before I was hesitant to try this game but now with this in depth review I'm going to give it a shot so thanks!
the others that I've seen, not mentioning any names, we're horrible and it was obvious if they were fans or not from the beginning
I am new to the channel, and I appreciate your work. Looking forward to watching more of your reviews!
thyanks
"Their masterworks all... can't go wrong" lmao hear that shit in my sleep XD
it kills me
A great JRPG to have. Ive put in 10 hours of side missions alone. I can easily put FF15 up the with the Witcher 3.
alright....im off to tweet at Square and beg for a pc version
Michael Bell Uh idk about comparing this to the witcher 3 but it definetely looks great
dope nice to hear
Antonio Caballero aside from the witxhers undoubtedly better story (way way way better. and the side quest story's) I see the comparison .
10 hours isnt really that huge if ur implying that you've just about done all the side quests.
Best game reviewer on RUclips hands down
thank sir
Hey man I recently stumbled onto your channel and have been loving your reviews this fall season. Insightful and honest. Keep up the good work
Really good job on this review! It was really smooth and well put together and even if I didn't agree with some things you said I respected it because of the backup you had behind your opinions.
thanks
Open world RPG's are my favorite kind of games but unfortunately FFXV just looks to damn rediculous for me. I'm not saying it's the games fault, it's my own, for some reason the crazing looking creatures and characters are just too weird for me. So even though I'm really desperate for an open world game to get lost in this winter, especially now that Watch_Dogs turned out to be a steaming POS on PC, I don't know if I'll get FFXV just because it's apparently too high fantasy for me to get into.
nope that makes sense actually
Stanley Johnson II that's JRPGs for you lol. I don't know how you didn't see that from a mile away.
But anyways I usually like JRPG's but FFXV is far too crazy and ridiculous in its design choices for me personally.
is watch dogs really that bad ?
This game made me feel like I have friends.
I gotta say I disagree with this review, quite a bit. Not that what you are saying is not true, but the story and piss poor to non existent side quests just entirely ruin the experience.
it happens.
my problem is, for such a sprawling world, it feels totally bland and sparse. in FFXII, a tiny town had throngs and throngs of people in it, making it feel alive and bustling.
Love watching these Reviews! Always watch you're reviews when i decide to buy a game or not :-)
appreciate it
One of the best and most thorough video reviews I've ever seen. Subscribed.
