    Whatsup everybody this is karak with ACG and it is my continuing mission to bring you longer and longer and faster and faster sentences as I strive to achieve my ultimate goal of not using a single period in a whole twenty minute video packed full of content from start to finish as it’s a well known fact that pausing for breath is a waste of both my time and yours! Haha only joking I enjoy the reviews!

    Great review! Played about 35 hours and couldn't beat the "snake" and had to pop over and finish God of War. The visuals are amazing but to put a "cold stop" in the middle of the game (can't move forward or past) made no sense. I know most folks can do it with ease but I was playing full Warrior and Ubisoft sticks a boss that requires hunter skills out of the blue remains puzzling. I'm 70 years old and enjoying the game up till that point. I'm done with Ubisoft games. Anyway thanks again for the great work!

    It's refreshing to watch a review from someone who looks and sounds like they've actually played the game. So many review channels tell the same story, tell you the same gripes, at times most of them are a copy and paste review pulled from the most popular opinions. This guy is thorough! The details are exactly what we want. Thank you for making honest, full reviews!

      Since they created good physics for the first Watch Dogs (and its sequel) they really hit that one home. No water in other video games comes even close to the level of realism in Ubisoft's water.

    “For people that don’t have the time to play” the biggest bs statement I hear in the gaming industry from devs. (Not you) but it’s a bs excuse for micro transaction in a sp game. It’s essentially saying it’s not worth the time to play the game.

    • @winstonsmith6101
      @winstonsmith6101 7 лет назад +56

      +Alexander Williams Not necessarily the reasoning is sound. There has always been something in the games to help length/difficulty in games for those that don't have the time to dedicate to a title. The bs move by the publishers is that these were once free cheat codes for unlimited lives and other things to help in games like Contra, but now they have monetized that.

      Um people weren't complaining about it in assassins creed unity (mostly because it was a glitch mess) and in assassins creed syndicate (mostly because people just skipped that game from unity) so Idk why people are complaining about it NOW. As he said, its been there since black flag ffs. BTW the only existing cheat codes in a game is pretty much lego games at this point.

      It's basicly admitting your game is too boring to play. "Microtransactions" are there to help players break through the overwhelming boredom. In other words: don't touch that crap.

    There is a lot to like but the bugs, and repetition even in the face of lack of collective puzzles really starts to drag it down in the end. Its front loaded for sure. And with a patch or two to clean up the combat a bit and this would be something I would rat a buy.

    Hey, love the review you go into a lot of detail that the VAST majority of reviewers just don't do. If I had a gripe it be the fact that NO reviewer can review a game without a comparison. (zelda,dark souls,witcher etc)

    • @dyzio2206

      reviews almost always include comparison unless there is a unique product.. at least i can't think of a way to review a game without comparison.. same goes for hardware... you can talk about cpus specs and features (cores/threads/clocks/cache) but unless you throw a benchmark comparison against another cpu it doesn't give the viewer any valuable info about the product..

    • @koloth5139
      @koloth5139 7 лет назад +22

      Comparisons are good because people that like or dislike a comparison game get a general idea of what to expect. A sequel will always be compared to its predecessors. And we will always look to things we liked in the past to compare to things we might like in the future.

    • @-pressxtostart-
      @-pressxtostart- 7 лет назад +2

      Probably because those are three of the greatest games we have had for years. Itd be awesome if games that got compared to those came close because i feel its what most of us are searching for. Id say thats why.

    • @ingion1

      i dont get why the get to make such great and huge maps and dont bother to make a decent main story far more than 20 hours.same with Fallout 4.Force the player to follow a great,long continuous story all over the map and reduce the side quests.is it just me thinking like that?i would love to see such a chance in open world games.all they neeed is good scripts.like to hear ur opinions.on Fallout 4 i loved the map but the short main story made me feel unsatisfied at the end

    • @saatviksingh727
      @saatviksingh727 7 лет назад +1

      ingion1 i think the same, these open world stories are too short. That's why I first do all the side activities and then go on to the story.

  • @SimplyNotReally
    @SimplyNotReally 7 лет назад +81

    Solid review, I don't necessarily agree with every point, like I feel the combat is fun and forces you to think outside the box now and then as you pop a few arrows and follow them with a combination of heavy and light melee attacks, and I'm playing on hard lol.

    • @grimv1208
      @grimv1208 7 лет назад +7

      Conner Hathaway I am playing on hard too but you have to admit the fighting doesn’t feel fluid AT ALL

    • @nateb3454
      @nateb3454 6 лет назад +17

      Mason that’s the point of it kindve. The whole reason the old system was so boring and dull and shit was cuz of how fluid and predictable and easy it was. Literally they all wait for you and you hit a few buttons to counter and then you’d do a fluid counter and then another and so on. This is the first time the combat system is different and not predictably fluid. This games combat system towers over all the previous titles and gives you a reason to sit up and put your mind into the game as the combat can be very difficult if you aren’t careful

    • @nateb3454
      @nateb3454 6 лет назад +6

      Mason so combat not being “fluid” is a good thing cuz fluid like previous games equals predictable and boring, origins combat always keeps me on my toes

    • @silverfox9006
      @silverfox9006 6 лет назад

      Nathaniel Anaya Regardless of the combat system being better than previous titles it still looks mediocre to me. But then again it's Ubisoft with their half-finished games

    • @karkang
      @karkang 6 лет назад +3

      I play on nightmare used to hate the combat, and preferred the combat in Unity. However I realized just how much creativity can be applied to the sandbox, amplifying the combat. There’s not just one way to approach the kill, and I like that.

  • @dr.zoidberg8666
    @dr.zoidberg8666 7 лет назад +26

    Man, I love the idea of a New Kingdom Ancient Egypt setting, but I just can't imagine any AC game being as fun as Black Flag was for me.
    The pirate fantasy, the ancient mysticism, the trademark god tier badass that you become in AC games, & the setting of the Caribbean all came together to make something really special. I've played through that game 3 times now (where I only played the others once), and have 100%-ed it. That being said, I would still play it again & thoroughly enjoy myself.
    I think that, for me, AC peaked at Black Flag.

  • @monkey3782

    Having just finished the main story I am surprised you found it to be poor. I found it one of the most engaging stories since brotherhood, the hunt for your sons killers only to end up replacing one tyrant with another. Bayak was a great character especially his chemistry with Aya, it was quite saddening to see their relationship develop over the game from horny love birds to going their separate ways. I enjoyed all the tie ins to previous games especially Aya revealing at the end that she is the Egyptian assassin statue in AC 2 sanctuary who killed Cleopatra, plus seeing Brutus kill Caesar though I couldn’t really see if they modelled the dagger he used into the one Ezio would retrieve in ACB.
    The world size blew me away more due to the fact that it was a single open world without loading screens. The side quests surprised me as well with how detailed they were clearly took a book from Witcher.
    I personally didn’t mind the combat. AC combat has always been repetitive and easy but this game it felt more of a challenge and realistic, no being a super human who can take out 30 guards at once anyway.
    Overall I give the game a 8/10. I dock one point for the fact there wasn’t much focus on those who came before despite ending up in vaults etc. We also never found out what happened to the piece of Eden or the staff of Alexander the Great nor what was the purpose of the vault in Siwa- why did they need to get in there? I dock the final point for once again the lack of a modern day story. It didn’t advance at all bar setting up what clearly is a new Desmond sort of character for future games.

      Braden Harris same here, I mostly look forward to playing AC games because of the setting and history involved, which is the reason why I skipped the last two. Just didnt care about the French Revolution and Victorian setting. But Egypt on the other hand, I'm down for.

      as someone who have finished the story my thoughts are that it was great and left me with satisfaction at the end to know how the brotherhood was formed and also somthing about Aya that i will not spoil, my only issue is that the modern day ending was left to open and there wasnt enough explained about our new modern day protagonist, but overall the story was better than most other AC games and for once it was nice to see the perspective from a grieving father hellbent on revenge for his son, something we haven't seen in an AC game before.

    When my mother put my christmas gift under the christmas tree 2 weeks ago, it was obvious it was a Blu-ray disk. I inmediatly realized it was a ps4 game but I didn't know if she was on-the-know about Battlefront controversy, and cinsideting she does know I am a massive Star Wars and Assassins Creed fan it was either one of those. I am a 31 years old man and had not had a nail-bitting christmas as this one ever since I was a child. Every day I was preparing myself mentally to a Battlefront II on Christmas morning, to give a mature gift-receiving-thankful face if that was the case. But to my surprise it was ACTUALLY Origins!! Man we dodged that bullet. I played the damn thing all Christmas day and had never been so excited and relieved! Today is business-as-usual at my office but Man! One of the most nailbiting Christmases for me. Certainly felt like a child again getting the right toy on Christmas.

    Hopefully the DLC isn’t disappointing like few AC Titles before like Unity and Revolution! I would love to see how creative they can be with the new RPG system and taking advantage of the combat system to its maximum and bring a challenging experience to finalise the game itself !!

    Thanks for the review. I just bought Odyssey on sale last week in PS store for $20. Today this game just went on sale in PS store. Base game $14.99. Gold edition with he DLCs is only $24.99. I'm trying to decide if I will get base or with the DLCs. I love good story. I'm checking vids to see if the DLCs are worth it. I don'y normally get DLCs in games unless they are cheap GOTY edition of older games.

      I agree, 2 toddlers keep me busy. I’m stuck between shadow of war and AC origins. But then again I get about one day to play so the loot box doesn’t even appeal to me. It’s about fun factor that I can get into and then comeback to a week later and keep going.

      It's something that started with mmo's where people could boost themselves up tonnes of levels. But to put them in a single player story game is fucking low. Can't actually believe ACG would side with this corporate bigwigs arses. We need bollocks out of our games. Not to be cheered on and sucked off.

      You'll either like it or you won't by first hand experience. Someone putting together a great review where they can articulate all the perceived flaws with their personal view of it will not value/de-value the game for me. Only I can do that by playing it. Everyone is different. It's nice to watch reviews to try and inform yourself of consensus but only after the fact. Taking the same opinion of someone else's experience before trying it yourself...that's ludicrous and your life will suck. You will not experience things you wanted to try while, also, trying things you weren't really interested in the first place. You forfeited your own mind to census quo. Trust in yourself. You clicked on the video cause you had some interest in the game. Should have used that interest to rent the game! If you were confident in the things you've seen, buy it! No one should watch any reviews, on games, until after you play it yourself. The only thing you should watch are gameplay clips before the game is released to help inform yourself. I only apply this logic to the enjoyment of games though. If, for instance, you wanted to buy a brand of water, then reviews may be worth your time but then if you are buying that, it's probably something you feel you would NEED for health as opposed to having something you WANT for entertainment. Every review I've watched was always after I played the game and, to be honest, most of the reviews were not the same as my experience. I thoroughly enjoyed lots of games and I never would have if I had watched a review like this one. Reviewers, nowadays, are more interested in being savvy than honest. Or maybe they are honest and having a jaded outlook on games seems to be a natural symptom of what happens to reviewers who review for a living instead of reviewing for fun like some do on youtube. Dice toss guys. Take my advice. Play it yourself. Game reviews are only fun AFTER you've played it yourself!

      AC is basically PoP now. In a game informer issue, there was a "facts you didn't know" section, and one of them was how AC was originally a PoP spin off where you played a female assassin protecting the prince. The game didn't revolve around the prince that much though, so they canned it and it eventually became Assassin's Creed.
      I'd love for it to come back, but I highly doubt it will.

    Microtransactions is where it starts, then it’ll slowly and gradually move on to whatever they can get away with if they see that people are okay with it. I won’t and will never support these types of games. We’ve moved on to an era where just buying the game outright is not enough for these publishers and developers anymore. There are ALOT of great games out there that don't need this kind of crap.

    • @RamirezR
      @RamirezR 7 лет назад +6

      i think the best way to protest it isnt to not buy the game, but to not purchase the microtransactions. its not that they are getting away with it because people are ok with it, but because people are using them. i have never used microtransactions and i enjoy the games just fine. if more people do that the publishers would find it a waste to even put them in. but the fact is people do use them. it isnt enough to just not buy the game, because these are great games that developers put so much hard work into and are really fun and exciting to play, its not their fault that the publishers are greedy corporate scum.

    • @MrMestapholese
      @MrMestapholese 6 лет назад

      Amusing that Oddyssey does have a s lower level progression seemingly intentionally made to drive players towards purchasing micro-transactions. Congrats on your prediction(not that it wasn't obvious that MT's would become more and more intrusive). From what I've seen complaint wise, sidequests are absolutely essential to get enough levels to pass through the story. More or less autonomy for the player to progress the game how they like is taken away unless you pay for boosters.

    • @Zerath0
      @Zerath0 6 лет назад

    6:56 Actually i prefer it when they speak normal english. Think about it, In this game, for example, why would they speak english to each other instead of arabic ? The only reason for them to speak english is for us to listen. So the smartest way IMO is to let them speak normal english and we in our heads know that they are speaking arabic but the game is translating to us. Dunno just feels dumb when they speak in an accent, Why would they speak to each other in english and if they arent and the game is translating then why do they have an accent ?

      they'd be speaking a multitude of languages including Latin, Hellenistic Greek, and Coptic. Arabic wasn't a thing until the 7th century. The more you know wooo!

      No one in Egypt spoke Arabic until Islam started to spread into Africa.

      lieutenant Joker ha ha that always bugs me in films and games, good to know I'm not the only one that think that. If they want to do have a more authentic "language" have them speak the native tongue, if not just have an English accent or whatever accent the region the game is being sold.

      Okay, it looks decent enough, but my favorite open world game of all time is AC4.
      It's the only game that hit's the nail on the head with story, mechanics, exploring, stealth, game-feel, and to some extent, progression.
      The combat system is perhaps a bit dated by now but I even still have tense and fun moments with it. The game has a very strong narrative which I would argue no other AC game has, and the settings are designed fucking beautifully.

      Devon G The story was alright. Nothing to write home about. Being roped into the brotherhood to somehow become the good guy instead of a regular pirate was weird. But great 1st half never the less plus the ending tied into the 3rd game. Seeing as his last name is shared with Haythem.

      this game doesnt do the series justice, ac is supposed to be stealth, this seems more hack and slash, ur better off picking up ac2 as it was the best of the series

      Devon G Ac4 was fun for a couple of hours and the story was pretty good but boring at some parts. Also, it’s kinda boring after you do everything and there’s nothing left to do
