I just bought FFXV as a first time player. I went in with no bias or final fantasy experience and I'm absolutely loving this game. He said probably wasn't a game for first-time players but to be a first-time player I think this game is definitely worth a try. It's become one of my favorite games.
Edit: Thank you everyone for having a comment to look back at and brighten my day.
I needed to hear this. Thank you :)
tq bro, i will buy this moth for windows edition
I'm thinking about getting this now that the price has dropped
Courage Ekhaguere nigga you gay
Conor Mcgregor your comment is fucking random 😂gotta love trolls
Sasuke Uchiha and his band of the three musketeers get their own game
Perfect
Backstreets back
alright!
yes! finally I'm not the only one who thinks that noctis is sasuke's doppleganger!
I said the same thing! I was like bruh, no way it's Sasuke.
We might do a video like 'Should You Play FFXV as a First-Time FF Player?' because a LOT of people are asking.
gameranx do it!!!! I fall into that category....

I bought FFXV as a first timer and im nearly one hundred hours into the game
@@Kostadin_Arolski well me too, I finished the game in 5 days, because I play it on normal difficulty, and I have grind exp and money as much as possible, because you never knew what you are up against
master moose I finished in 16 hours I’m a full time gamer and this game was AMAZING
Just finished this game absolutely rushed game and incomplete. Not that good game but not FF worst game.
I have been playing since the first release on NES. I am amazed by how this new generation are traveling to these new worlds much the same way I did in my teens. This series will always hold a special place in my heart. No "surprise mechanics" included. Good job to the developers on a solid single player game.
Hahahahah this ffxv is very short they put everything into graphics and its looks like demo game but its the gameplay
Japanese games might be weird, but they are unique, wild, and creative.
they can be bad, the can be cheesy, they can be staright up ''what the fuck''
but they will never, ever be boring.
they will always feel alive, even the most poorly made Final Fantasy (for most it would be FFXIII) have some heart in it.
western industries are full of games that are ''technically decent'', those Far Cry games and Assassin's Creed games and Mafia games, those games always get a solid score like 8/10, but they are never really interesting or memorable at all.
I have played some Japanese games that I personally dislike, but even then they are still somewhat memorable to me,
they never really make me want to hate it or dislike it.
even the most boring Japanese game have something that you will remember well.
Resident Evil 6 is a good example, it is one of the worst RE game I've played and yet the characters still makes me smile till this day, they are neither deep or well written, but they have heart. and that's all that matters.
I would rather play a bad 5/10 Japanese game like Star Ocean 5 or FFXIII than another ''8/10'' Ubisoft open world game with no heart
Japan, please never change
weaboo?
imo most japanese (mmo)rpgs are lame because theire very grindy
true
Beast of the Far East I disagree with western games not being memorable but I do agree that Japanese games are always quirky and unique, and feel so alive. And I like them better
you won't believe me anyways, but I still have to clarify.
I do have a girlfriend, and we are engaged.
and no, I am not a weeabo white kid.
I am Asian, from Asia, maybe that's why I like Japanse game more than western games.
I know in america they call Japanese game fans ''virgins'' or ''weebs'', but truth be told girls probably would rather be with them than some fat ass sitting on their ass watching football all day.
seriously, you people are not nearly as cool as you think you are, your social life is a mess and you still have no girlfriend after college.
this was my first FF game, I saw Kingslave and Brotherhood and I love everything about this game. The story and character relationships really make you feel like Noctis, at times you feel the same emotions as everyone else in the group. The antagonist is unpredictable, mysterious and a very good villan. Also chapter 13 feels like Resident Evil and it's great.
Bushido Cobra yes
I adore FF XV. It was my first FF (sad it took until I was 17 to play any). The music, characters, story, action, and creatures all enthrall me. Super underrated in the grand scheme of the series.
No. It belongs right where it is. Worst ff game ever made
Agreed with Andreas. Definitely not a good game when compared to other ones of the same series.
See. I’m in the same boat. FFXIII was my first Final Fantasy. People have shit-talked that game into the ground, even though I thought it was great. While I don’t like FFXV for a number of reasons, I respect your opinion, and can see how people can enjoy it.
Ignis: *THAT'S IT!*
Prompto: what's what?
Ignis: *I'VE COME UP WITH A NEW RECIPE*
Gladiolus: I'll taste test
Yes, me too the characters, the world and the story had me hooked.... which was FF VERSUS XIII. Not this piece of garbage that they ruined
While my characters were driving places I cleaned my house... while playing the game
Relatable
I spent the time folding my socks hahahah
Dr. Peterson would be proud.
I commend you good sir
I read.
I actually think veteran Final Fantasy players might not like this, while newcomers would love it!(Just like me) :)

This was my first final fantasy game and honestly I loved it.
Get FF7, 9, and 10 including FF12, which has a newer version called zodiac age.
Especially 7
Don't forget FF8 one of the best.
Get ff10 easier and incredible story
AGREED!
“I don’t think any game is worth waiting ten years”
Yet we’re all waiting for GTA 6
This game good ? I jus got it
I don't think anyone is actually 'waiting' for it. Does anyone actually want it? Is anyone sitting in their gamer chair right now obsessively scratching their neck being like 'i NEED GTA6!' Probably not.

Sorry. The Final Fantasy franchise is fucking dead and garbage.

I keep seeing people complaining about the summons and I don't understand why. Summons are not just giant pokemon in this game they are gods. No one would bother doing actual combat if you could simply summon a giant god to hurl an island at your enemies essentially board wiping the field. It's not like they don't exist, their purpose is to occasionally turn the tables on your enemies and get you out of a pinch when the situation is dire, that's how it should be. It just makes sense given the style of the game. If they weren't essentially a one hit kill and worked like summons of previous entries then i could understand being upset but they work well in the context of the game as it is
Couldnt agree more. I would love 2 more usable summons tho, Ifrit and Bahamut being usable by the player. Ending was perfect for me. made me tear up a bit and actually feel proud of what Noctis did to save the world and sad at the same time due to the final cutscene. Truly great game
Dys I've started hitting the main story hard but there's so many distractions. I'm entertained just driving the regalia around and just witnessing the beauty of the world. When you come out of that tunnel going towards the volcano and the first thing you see is that breathtaking canyon with the rock arches bridging the gap, absolutely amazing. I hope bahamut and ifrit become summonable as well. I really like bahamut's dragoon design
Infernus X I can't wait to see what's in store
TheTrueRedDragon well said about the summons.
Syuna no I realize that. I was saying in the context of this game they work the way they are
"It's going to be harder for people who've never played any final fantasy game"
Strong disagree,
this is my first final fantasy game I tried and I loved it. And even though I have heard how amazing other games are, I'll never try them because their playstyle is just not one i like (PERSONAL PREFERENCE, STRONG EMPHASIS ON THIS). Not a fan of the turn based combat at all, which is the main turn off for me.
FFXV solved that issue, gave me a hell of a good story (yes plot holes, yes makes no sense, yes some characters suck etc etc, Heard all that and idgaf). I will strongly be looking for other Final Fantasy games in future if they keep this type of gameplay. A more plot-hole-less story would be appreciated, but honestly, I am more than satisfied.
Look into the ff7 remake, I think you’ll like it.
Mridul Gupta same thing with me
It gave you a hell good of a story because it's the only ff game you ever played. Actually it's the worst story out of every ff game. Biggest disappointment for hardcore fans. You're lucky not to be one.
I agree except I’m a long term fan and loved turn based battle but now I am happy they’ve dropped it for this style of gameplay idgaf about plot holes either just imagine they aren’t there
Yes, because it's also made for first-timer, you do not need to play the previous title to understand anything because it its own game within the franchise. You do not need to play the games involving Lightning to understand XV cause it has nothing to do with her. Those who say first-timers will find it hard is rather idiotic.
I've played most of FF games and I LOVE XV. I don't understand why people are so reluctant to accept it. It's beautiful, great story, exciting world and it has heart put into it.
7.1/10 "too much land"

Amad Joao Nauaito they gave it a 8.2/10
I know, I'm just joking around
Troy Montana "too much food" ign

"A 40-ish hour game"..... *is 50 hours into the game halfway through the story*
Oof
I finished it in 15 hours
I'm 30 hours in just finishing chapter 3.
@@juanin1556 what in the shit
I finished in 72 hours
The Whole point of final fantasy having a new story every game is meant for bringing new players into the series. This was my first ff game and I loved it.
i don't think that's why lol
30 hours into the game, still at Chapter 3 lol, having way too much fun doing side-quest and taking out Daemons and Imperial Paratroopers :P
I’ve gone through twice (about to be a third soon if I watch anymore videos XD ) first time I put near 100 hours.
Second time beat it in just < thirty hrs. Great flexibility to this game
Just for the combat system, I keep turning around lol !
Should You Play FFXV as a First-Time FF Player?'
Yes you should.
Tada Bandri thanks for clearing that up for me lol
Tada Bandri what about as a first time jrpg player. but a definitive lover of witcher and tes like rpg's
nesh319 still yes on that one. this is the best game to introduce someone to the world of jrpg and Final Fantasy in my opinion. my gf, who never played Final's game before but is a huge fan of Skyrim,Witcher etc is playing FFXV as we speak. She's loving it :)
Golden Time.
Nimble Yea u right :) xD
Noctis is amazing. They all are. I fing love this game, inside and out its just so amazing and immersive. It probably helps that its my first FF game ever too. But it does say when you boot up the game "A Final Fantasy game for Fans and First Timers".
Jonathan Shirley same i'm in love
the chemistry between the 4 characters is simply amazing, you end up realizing that them starting with "Stand by me" is not a cheesy choice but actually the theme this game had behind it. It can tug dem heart strings.
chaoszieg i mean if you ignore what they are saying then yeah you wouldn't know shit about them, they do more stuff out of story.
I just finished it now and I really want more :(
but only the second part of the sentence is true. it is more of a gta than a ff game...
I'm a big Kingdom Hearts fan, so this will probably be the first FF game that I can actually get into. I don't like turn-based combat for these kinds of RGPs (excluding pokemon). But I do think I'll like this a lot, even though I'm not a FF fan.
NextGenBrandon This is practically everyone lol. We never cared about final fantasy because of turned base . But because it's similarity with kingdom hearts we wanna give it a try
Exactly!
NextGenBrandon I'm waiting for kingdom hearts 3 should I get this game to keep me busy is it good?
For any KH fans who are new to this, I'm waiting for KH3, too, and I fell in love with this game. It has a lot of similarities to the Kingdom Hearts franchise, but just feels a lot more real and organic. It will be easy for you to adjust to the configuration, but it does lack that certain "brilliance" that Kingdom Hearts has, since it's based on real life, rather than fantasy and different worlds. In all, I really like the feel of it and got into it really quickly! Not to mention, there's an open battle mode that lets you just wander into The Crown City and fight whatever comes at you for however long you want, so you can get used to how everything works without dying or depleting resources. I'd give it a try, if you haven't already!
I am the opposite I could never get into KH at all. Many of my friends are the same as u guys, "i hate turn based combat" (loves pokemon games). Nothing wrong with that, i love them too. i just dont get how u can dislike it in FF7 or X etc (not the bad later FF games like 13), and like it in pokemon. To me its the exact same thing going on its just pokemion sprites instead of FF characters. attack, heal, sheild, run, etc its all the same basically. u just dont catch new ones u level up the characters u have ;p

folko1 there’s a history why they named the game “Final” Fantasy. You can look it up on the internet
not sure if this is a r/wooosh
And rest lol
Ongoing Fantasy would make more sense!
You're clearly new to this.
I love this game honestly. Everyone is complaining about it, but I love it a lot
It's a great game people just like to complain for no reason yet still play the game lol
What is there to complain about exactly? I can relate to Noctis more then any character I had played or seen.
You should go play Nier Automata! You'll see how thrashy xv is compared to that
@@gdragonismygodthis is so late but coming from someone who just started ffxv and has nier automata as one of my favourite games of all time they are nowhere near comparable?? Aside from the fact they are both jrpgs
I like the game, its pretty addicting, but I really dislike the fact that a lot of the time I spend on the game is walking or driving from place to place, occasionally there's times where I'm walking with no interaction with the world whatsoever for quite some distances. Its like, what's the point in open world if the world is so empty?
xMagicalDanny True I got some mgsv vibes from that. :/
So its boring when driving and walking for 90% of the game? How is this a good game?
Bob Dole if they removed extra space then the game would be good, cause I like the combat and the content. Like I said, just wished the game wasn't too much empty blank walking/driving
xMagicalDanny Exactly, I got so bored after playing for 5 hours doing literally nothing I just stopped playing and don't know if I care to anymore.
I have more fun driving to work. This game didn't take 10 years to make, it took 10 years for some goons to figure out a sub-par story line and throw it together in the last 2.
Seriously, time running and driving car is not 90%, I'm playing now and I can not even remember when I runned. I think you guys do not know how to play. Another important point, if you look at the movie, you will be more anxious to see the end of the game.
I'm digging it! 5 hours into the game, and I'm level 14 and the Main quest is still only level 8 because I've been doing so much side activities. Can't wait till I can get Chocobos!
Rena Ryugu your mom's a chocobo

Chocobos are awesome it'll be really useful in some missions i played it for more than 14 hours its hard because im not doing side missions so the enemies have higher level than i am

Ish Tolin same
Ish Tolin nice
Ish Tolin Lol, so it's a "After you buy" for you.. lol
Ish Tolin waiting to download 😤😤😤
Camron9548 how big is the download size?
while i definitely will buy this, and play it, i am kinda tired of the thing going on where the main story is kinda short and there are loads of side quests to make up for it. many people like that, and i appreciate that the developers put so much effort into it, but personally i am that guy who plays and explores as long as the story continues, and once the story is over i stop playing.
for me the story just feels like the very reason for your journy if you get what i mean. once the story is over you kinda start to question why you are still travelling around.
i kinda miss those games where you had a story mode, and once that story was over, you're done with it. because back then many stories just seemed longer, and they had less plot holes. nowadays it feels like the devs stop worrying about a good story and just use the side quests and giant worlds as an excuse for it.
bladewolf VII you must hate dark souls series
bladewolf VII - No, you just don't like these kinds of games. FFXV is an open-world filled with side-quests, where you go on road trips to slay monsters and find treasure, nothing else. If you want a super long story, play FFXIII or FF3.
TheStacked Gamer that's completely different. I love the dark souls games and I completely agree with him. There aren't even any side quests in dark souls unless you're including character questlines. That doesn't have anything to do with what he said
bladewolf VII That's why Naughty Dog is one of my favorite game developers
bladewolf VII i
Now road to FF XVI coming in 2026 on PS5 x)
hopefully it never comes after this shitshow
Well it is better than fucking Star Ocean 5 and Final Fantasy Type-0
NEVER!!
you think you'll make to 2025?? you think you'll live that long??
Muahahahaha
This was the first FF game I have ever played. I really enjoyed it, just wasn't as big as I expected and didn't have enough exploration. It was a solid game though, genuinely liked the characters. When I first summoned I was like WTF 😂 it was amazing.
The real-time combat is a good change. It's still Final Fantasy, just Final Fantasy evolved.
***** Same dev studio who made Kingdom Hearts. Gameplay is very similar but more refined.
PunkCyber But they re not using anymore the combat system from KH 2 in KH 3 fuckin BS, that was sooo goood
its still final fantasy, just "kingdom hearts" evolved.
To big of a change and I can already tell it will upset the original fan base
Pie Pie original fan here, I love it. it's 2016, a turn based combat system wouldn't work with the scope of this game. it works perfectly
25 hours into the game... and it's absolutely incredible.
Sure, my first game was a handful of "earlier" games like Nathan Drake collection, bloodborne, blops 3 (came with my ps4), last of us remastered, and killzone shadow fall. The ps4 has a lot of good games that youm can't get anywhere else, even if you own a gaming pc. IMO playstation 3/4/wiiu/3ds and a gaming pc is the best combo for gaming.
5 hours into the game and bored out of my mind. I haven't played it sense. People seem to have a very low bar on what fun means... cuz walking and driving doing nothing is pretty lame.
+Bob Dole the driving around are the breaks you need so you dont burn out, its pretty genius. When driving in the game you can do whatever you need to do then head back to the game. it also gets you Ap. You can also fast travel to towns by choosing auto then map location and picking the town markers to shorten the time
I think i want to hate this game more then like though i haven't played it. FF7,8, and 9 are among my top favorite games of all time and I have played all the newer ones and utterly hated them. 10 was okay, the rest absolute disappointment. I can't connect to the characters and really dislike all the battle systems, now its not even turn based anymore. NOT A FF GAME ANYMORE
Joshua Colantuono Eh, ain't nothing wrong with action rpg though. Just because it isn't a turn base game it is no longer an FF game? What exactly is Final fantasy? FF is just a fantasy story game set in similar worlds. I say that FFXV is exactly what an FF game is supposed to be. I've always imagined what it would be like to play final fantasy with great graphics as well as run around the world and explore. FFXV is exactly that. Plus it's fun
I'm so happy . This game is getting so many good reviews and people (new to series) are LOVING IT! I'm so happy for Square 💪🏿💯
Troy Montana Of course it's getting good reviews,I played it and it's so addicting!!
Troy Montana I think FFXV looks so cool, I would love to get it, but i think itll be so confusing cuz i know nothinh, should i get it?
Bombed Videos I think you should watch the movie first . If you don't like the story , don't get it . If it catches your attention . Definitely get . The combo is smooth and it can catch on immediately and it's dedicated to new comers
ikr
I never played final fantasy do you recommend it?
Watching a "Before you buy" after you've already bought the game FeelsGoodMan.
think of driving wait as loading time. it's quite clever honestly.
the only real loading is for cutscenes (sometimes) and chapter beginnings
vaajchang how is the driving a loading time ? Keep in mind you can everything from great distances without any texture drops . You can see enemies from a mile away sometimes
Also you can Fast travel to places you visited anyway. So the driving is not that big of a deal.
MeldinX2 but sometimes the fast travel loading screen is longer than driving
TheOutBack Pandas
True. If you are trying to fast travel to a spot really close to where you are already. But if you are really far away from your destination then fast travel is nice.
This game is sick
Certainly one of the worst final fantasy. The game is nice, I admit it. But please, come on, it's like presenting "Final GTA fantasy" :-)
the new combat system gets stale fast though, hold one button and occasionally press another is pretty boring, FF needs to go back to turn based
combat system was amazing?......smashing one button all the time.......was easy...too easy but teleporting was cool.....story was.......what story?.........A remake of FF 5/6 in that graphic would have the gaming world explode!
***** itl never be seen sadly, 15 is good, but its no where near as good as people are making it out to be, 13 is still a better game imo, better characters and story, i still wish FF would go back to turn based battle system
Nowi-chan kh s fighting system is just wayyyy better than the battlesystem in ffxv, especially kh2 that fighting system is just non top able.

Start with 4, then 6 and 7, probably 5 or 1 if you want then you can play any other game in the series.
Don't let the fanboys pressure you into playing a 10 year old game over nostalgia. Play this one and enjoy it.
Incredible game. Aside from a few quirky issues when going to pick items up or get into the car this game hits every possible final fantasy note for me. From cruising around listening to old FF music, teaming up in battle to do massive damage on an enemy, or just exploring the vast world, this game does virtually everything right. The combat is engaging which really helps propel me to continue on my journey no matter what the quest is. Even fishing is compelling. Additionally, taking pictures, fishing, cooking, and riding your chocobo are all worth doing. You are rewarded for doing these activities by unlocking perks as you level up each skill. 9/10 for me so far. It isn't perfect but it's really close.
SharkBait Gaming and DLC stories for the bros
Love to drive around listening to FFVII Music Its Awesome!
I would have agreed totally at one point. Hell, I would have rated it a 10/10, I'm just a huge FF fan.
But then I got further into the game. Now, having finished... I'm very conflicted. But it certainly isn't a 10/10 for me.
sounds shitty
I really enjoyed this game. I love Final Fantasy, it's what got me into video games (though I'm more into action JRPGs, than turn-based ones), and I love VII, like everybody else.

Ichiji Vinsmoke Amen to that
Turn-based combat has its place. That said I've played more than enough turn-based games in my time to appreciate the change of pace.
Switching off of turn based is what ruined the series. Turn based was when FF was at it's best
Great review!
+HappyConsoleGamer thank you sir!
gameranx Only problem with this game is that after the gang reaches Altissia, the rest of the story jumps around and leaves a lot of plotholes. The meatier part of the story, that should've been flushed out, was rushed incredibly and I'm so disappointed from a story standpoint... Great plot, terrible storytelling
Mark Evans well I heard they are working on a story dlc that will be free.
Dante Vic That's gonna add cutscenes and other things also the ring will be powered up.
Lonnie Dearing so there's going to be a DLC for it do you like Morgan stories because they be honest when I beat the game I feel like there's nothing to do besides the do side quest and fight monsters like that's basically it and to me that's not fun at all I mean you're just wasting your time fighting monsters basically even though I do it admit the graphics are amazing but it's still boring I was thinking about getting my refund and spend my money on something else but I heard they're having a online so if they do I probably keep it and if they had DLC I'll probably even keep it more meaning him more interesting in it yet I haven't seen online yet
me: Dad,, there's a new game i want to play
dad: go buy it,,, what is it ?
me : final fantasy xv
dad : how much is it ?
me: around 700$
dad : OMG,, why it so expensive ?
me: because it takes 10 years to made it!
dad : ok then,, just dont buy anything else beside this game ok ?
me: *grin*
buy ps4 and the game
Chef Samuel EVIL!!! YOU LIED!
Chef Samuel thats $460, not $700. Hope this isn't real.
Voeris plus tax maybe lol
hope this is fake otherwise your dad is really stupid... can you adopt me? :D
Chef Samuel being this cringy should be a crime
The only thing i hate is how poorly Lunafreya is presented, she had so much potential yet they wasted it thx to the movie in which shes not even that great...
wtf, GREAT? She's a fukin oracle, what else is she supposed to do besides awaken the Eons for Noctis? What the ACTUAL FUCK!>
mrtoolegittoquit2 i didnt mean it that way xD shes not great in the movie, however the few scenes she got in the game were good but she didnt even had the chance to shine alot....they just killed her lol
There are other kind of roles a female character can play than an flat 2 dimensional "oracle". I mean look at Aerith and Yuna.
Hesus exactly she dies in a very bleh way and then showed her at the end like it was a wow factor lol it didnt work for me, other than that the game is amazing.
They are debating on having Luna be a DLC character to get more out of her due to high demands from the player base for her and to know her more. We will havee to wait and see how that goes. :x
You can actually fast travel in this game if you go too map then go to parking locations or towns/settlements. It's in the 3rd option when you pull out the map. Soooo yeah... hopefully that helps some people
It DOES look more enjoyable than ff13 at least
KnightCrown it does, did 8 hour game and only realise the sun is already when my mom told me. It felt like 30 min.
ProtozTer Now that is what I miss from most of the games nowadays. A lot of games nowadays are not able to suck you in and make you feel immersed. KHIII better not be a letdown "s, hold me, I'm scared
Daniel Vaughan really bro ? When did Kingdom Hearts ever let us down ?
Troy Montana Kingdom Hearts has never let me down personally. KHI I beat it, maxed out my munny at 99999999, hit level 100, obtained everything in the game, got every item in the game, beat all the bonus and hidden bosses, and cried when Kairi went away in the end. KHII I beat Sephiroth at level 56, not easy at all but I wanted to take that sucker down. I just hope KHIII keeps the trend of amazing storytelling, gameplay, and does not let us down due to how much it hyped us up ya know?

Being a hardcore ff fan, this looks like ff7 on steroids in terms of edginess. I'm surprised how they don't do the Naruto run
They look "edgy" but they don't really act "edgy", if that matters. I forgot about the word while playing.
how was ff7 the most edgy, surely that title goes to 8
yes.
MIK REACTS how do they look edgy?
Whats edgy?
I just want my Kingdom Hearts 3
Matthias Ybarra I want KH 2.8 and 3,I have 15 ordered as well. Its so good!
Kingdom hearts 3 might just come out in 2018
Matthias Ybarra at 1:43-1:49 noctis kinda looks like a mix of riku and sora with black hair and the girl could totally be namine don't you think?
YESSS!!!!! I've pre ordered 2.8, i should do the same for 3
Chaotic Sniper6 indeed
First final fantasy game i ever played, bought because i loved kingdom hearts 3 fighting style, and these are similar. Love these games.
Never played a FF game, but it looks kinda cool. Not sure though any thoughts?
Trent Matheny played two FFXV demos without ever having touched a FF game before. loved it, I'd highly recommend it
Cause I like the idea of them going away from turn based gameplay because that was never my thing, and this seems more my style
Trent Matheny same here. only turn-based game I've beaten is pokemon as a kid
exactly yeah
Trent Matheny There's actually a turn-based style in this game and it's called wait mode. The good thing about this game is that it has both action mode and turn based mode, so if both don't like one of the other, they can still play the game with ease.
I feel conflicted. This is my first FF game, although I actually have FF VI Advance that I picked up a couple months ago but never sat down to play it. However, a guy I know at work is a huge FF fan and actually asked me if I was getting FF 15 the day before it's release. I told him that I was planning on getting it however it would be my first official FF game. He looked at me completely disappointed asking how I've never played any of them before. He told me that he was getting at midnight via digital, and was really excited to play.
I picked it up the next day and started playing later that day after work. I played basically for five hours straight, and much more the next day. I'm enjoying the game by taking my time, doing a bunch of sidequests, 19 hours in only on Chapter 3. Yet I do see how some people could probably not like it. Anyone that just does the story will be disappointed in how short it is(as far as jrpgs go), some sidequests can become repetitive, the weapons merch doesn't have a huge selection, and if your not a fan of timed events the combat might feel lack luster.
Today at work I asked the guy whether he's enjoying FF 15 or not, and he flat out told me it's "garbage", "The game sucks", "Played only a couple hours and was seriously disappointed", "Can't believe I wasted $60". Even says that his brother who is an even bigger FF fan feels the same. I'm seeing all these reviews mostly giving it good scores, even watching fans of the series saying they enjoy 15. I know this is slightly different but I can't really say if it's good or bad when it's honestly my first FF game. I might be a bit over leveled in regards to the story missions but I'm finding little difficulty. In all honesty I've only encountered a Game Over once when I foolishly attempted the early Mine dungeon at Lv 15. Only to find the end boss in the 50's. I was like "seriously, all the enemies before are like 10-12, wtf!"
Zionboy17 Totally see your point lol
Zionboy17 I think people will never be satisfied until they look at it from a beginners/unbiased perspective. I played the original (on iOS... didn't finish it.) and also played 10 (didn't finish due to technical issues.) Each game has its own quirk and charm. If you go into a new FF game expecting the same experience, then don't bother. The series is so stand-alone with its individual games and the variety of story/gameplay has to be why it is so widely taken as one of the most prolific RPG titles in history. Don't let veterans of the series get you down because they are stuck in the past. I am LOVING 15, btw. I'm taking it slow as well.
Zionboy17 By the way, that dungeon is evil... lol
Zionboy17 I've played most of FF games and this one is bit different in the combat/story but I fell in love with this game. The emotions it gives is so strong, I cried and laughed so much. For me it's right behind FF X. I think most people hate this game cause it's not what SE said it be nor does it have such an extensive story still a great game tho.
felt the setting wasn't my style. last ff game i played was 12. luckily its getting remastered next year
JRPG only one that comes to mind is Dragons Dogma. Never played a FF game before
FFXV was my first FF and it is now one of my favorite games of all time. It was amazingly put together. The characters were well written, the voice acting was phenominal, and the game play was so engaging. I absolutely love it! 10/10 IGN.
I liked it though I had a fair few issues with it. Finished the entire thing in only 50 hours that includes all the side quests and probably 70% of the bounties. The main story is super short as most of that time I was running around looking for specific things, doing the side quests or in one instance walked away from it while I waited for day so I could take a single damn picture without having to climb a volcano all over again. They also brushed over or ignored an whole bunch of things including without spoiling a very interesting scene that doesn't get talked about, acknowledged of even actually occurs at all ever again and it looked so much more interesting than a bunch of the other stuff going on.
Combat is fun but pretty broken in some aspects. Some enemies are just able to chain you too well. Best example is in a level 55 late game area which has you running through lots of small hallways. There are lightning bombs that grow super quickly and when they explode they spawn more. In the narrow hallways the camera fights you and you can't really get at them so before long the entire room is filled to the brim with them all exploding every ten seconds obliterating you. That being said even after all that I never actually game overed and I was playing on normal. The other thing about enemies is a large majority of them won't stagger from your attacks while at the same time will stagger you with every single hit. This becomes a huge problem in the same area I mentioned before as several of them would push you up into a corner and they attack so fast you can't effectively block, dodge, faze or retaliate in any way. In some of the rooms these enemies were also accompanied by the earlier mentioned bombs. I made it through but it was all just super frustrating.
That leads me onto another thing. Your allies are USELESS! Except maybe Ignis. Prompto even though he is ranged is up getting his face eaten off and I must have used thousands of elixirs on him because he was dying every 10 seconds even at level 70 with all the health and vit boosters I could put on him, he also doesn't really do much damage. Gladio is kind of okay. His special moves dish out loads of damage and he will sometimes knock down a troublesome enemy but most of the time I see him he's just kind of standing around with his sword over his shoulder doing nothing. It's especially frustrating when I'm in the corner getting stun-locked by hobgoblins. When it comes to boss battles? Don't rely on them at all. In fact just ignore them entirely because they are more than useless.
Magic is really fun to figure out and pretty powerful but I found myself using it less and less as the game went on because it just becomes less effective. There's also the fact there is no way to make your allies back off so you either don't use it or constantly hit your friends with it too (I chose the latter more often than not). Some spells are just more trouble than they are worth. Firaga specifically. It's nice and powerful but for a fairly long time after there's a load of fire on the ground that doesn't really affect the enemies other than slight burns but in really gets in your way. You can't walk through it because it will set you on fire and stagger you repeatedly until you move out of it so you are essentially making a section of the battlefield unusable for your team but the enemy can pass with only a minor burn. It's also annoying to hear and see your companions running into it over and over again like morons.
Then there's dialogue. It's fine, mostly. I am tired of hearing my allies complain at me when I change my weapon to close to them but what annoys me most is hearing them bitch at me every time I swing my sword at an enemy and they happen to be in a 5 meter radius of said enemy. The walk around dialogue is kind of repetitive too but the biggest issue about those conversations is how many of them I missed, the special ones that don't seem to repeat later. This occurs when something else happens in the world like Imperial ships overhead. It will cut off whatever they were talking about whether it was banter or important story stuff to yell something like "Imperials above!" never to mentioned again.
Finally the music/travel/fishing. You are going to be doing a lot of running around outside your car as well as a lot of sitting around awhile the car drives itself from place to place (even with Noctis at the wheel, you just hold the accelerate and have to manually brake and turn onto roads). It's nice to have all the older soundtracks but there's not nearly enough music and those can get pretty bland after awhile. Also after awhile you can buy and mp3 player to listen to music outside the car while you run around doing other stuff. Nice feature to a point. It stops playing your music for literally everything. This is especially annoying for things like fishing. Fishing is slow and dull so I thought if I could listen to the mp3 player while I do it it would liven things up. Nope. It turns off the moment you start and you cannot turn it on during fishing (unless there is a way I just didn't figure out). Also it doesn't work when battles start and while on a chococbo. I love that chocobo music so no big loss there but considering most of your time outside the car you will be on a chocobo, fishing or getting into repeated battles it makes the mp3 player practically pointless.
Those are just my complains as I played through the whole thing. Despite all that I really enjoyed the game and will probably play it again many times over. Looking forward to the DLC content too.
Love love love this; one of my favorite FFs, though at this point I wouldn't consider myself a HUGE FF fan (Played VIII, IX, X, XII, XIII, XIII-2, and XV) I love the character interactions during idle moments and the battle system is incredible; the best approximation of real-time-but-actually-a-lot-more-turn-based-than-you-think.
Defines this generation of consoles for me. Also astounds me how this, which came out 4 years ago, looks twice as good as this years FF VII Remake.
you are completely wrong about first time players. This game appeals to first timers not to old fans of the series. in fact, players who experianced the originals when they came out are much less likely to enjoy this one.
This is true. Many vets of the series don't care for this one because it is sooooooo different than what they are accustom to. It honestly feels and even looks like a different game. Which I guess can be either good or bad? As far as RPG'S go, I was drawn to Witcher 3 more than FF15 for the simple fact that it feels more like the old FF games with somewhat defined goals and quests to undertake.
Yep, I see alot of first time players calling it the best in the series lol
Agreed. As an OG gamer that's played literally since Final Fantasy 1, they've utterly gone off the rails and destroyed what was cool about story telling and gameplay. Excluding FFXI and XIV (the 2 online games)the last decent FF game was 12. (Now remastered as Zodiac Age). This reviewer sounds like he's a noob to the series in his early 20s and is saying what he thinks will sound right but doesn't actually know what he's talking about, mostly because he's failing at convincing anyone he's an actual veteran of the FF games.
I did run FF 1, 2, 3, 4, 10 and 15. Dropped VII (the original version), 5 and 6, but for 6 plan to give another chance.
I like FF IV character set bit more, and also the story there is more satisfying (when happy ends were a thing).
This said, I love FF XV too. And I started it with very low expectations, because of the hate feed I got about it. Bought it only because was on discount, but never regreted.
Game does have flaws, but the team behind it put serious love in that game. How many trashy jrpgs are out there with dumb stories, unappealing characters(copy-paste from generic anime) and terrible gameplay that cost as much as FF XV, if not even more?
Really, can't understand teh hate. Hope is only vocal minority. For me, this game is masterpiece.
This game is actually what got me mega into the Final Fantasy franchise. My favorite parts about it were the characters, the bonds they had with each other, their animations together. They really felt like people. The music is so good too, that's another thing I tend to really appreciate. Now I'm on a journey to buy and play most of the Final Fantasy games.
How is the combat of this game? I saw alot of players commenting about it being a single button mashing is that the truth?
@@yass3425 No, not really. While I do think the combat system could have been more well thought out, it is not just button mashing. Its moreso maneuvering. What kind of attack you do depends on the directing your moving. For example, with the great sword, you can do a slash from the left or right depending on what direction youre moving your guy and you can also do a charge up spin attack by holding the stick down and you can mess up and leave yourself open to the enemy with the wrong move. On top of that there is a parrying system and when you succeed you get to combo with one of your teammates. The combat system is really not as bad as people make it out to be.
@@Wulfsguy7039 thanks for your answer :)
@@yass3425 Thank you for thanking me, Happy to help!
Japanese games do a lot of things well, subtlety is not one
Very very true!
leroy shabkebab ?
Um, no game does subtlety like Silent Hill 2.
Uh, Fatal Frame, Zelda, Dark Souls.
I can go on and on, man.
yea with the amount of creativity in japanese games they can do anything really. from horror to adventure, from shooters to date sim lol.
this is my first final fantasy wish me luck!!!
this is my second. or 3red? cause ff 1 and 2 on the gba. i really liked the magic and sword skill progresstion by the more you use something the better you get at it, shame that no one really dose that stuff.
Coolguy played em all man, 1-XV, your gonna love it!
I'd say u still haven't played a ff game yet then for sure, cause this is everything ff is not except the monster types...
do you think that people who's experienced the Kingdom Hearts battle system would get the feel of the final fantasy 15 batttle system faster than some others?
because I think that's why I love the battle system so much, lol, I've been playing Kingdom Hearts games. :P
snowykitten yes i feel its very similar
snowykitten u can download the platinum demo on xb1 or ps4 to get a slight idea of the combat just dont judge the game off the demo lol it aint nothing special basically it was just so show how the combat works
terry blakley I have the official, full game dude, I know how the battle system feels like, and I love it :P
my bad lol i read your post wrong i actually really like it myself and i think its cause im a kingdom hearts fan as well as ff lol
terry blakley makes sense
People who only find strategy type games would probably find that ff15's battle system is hard to work with
That's my guess, lol
I've watched multiple "Reviews" for this game and this video is by far my favorite! Thank you for taking all the time to make such a great quality review! I love your reviewing style and your voice!
Final Fantasy 15 in a nutshell: Hey you can listen to all Final Fantasy soundtracks in the car!!!
And be an animal/pest control worker!
Invest you can do so on foot aswell. even during dungeons, makes it alot more epic
no no no no, thats not Final Fantasy 15 in a nutshell.
This one is: Emo Fair 2016, Sauske Update, Driving Simulator Edition
How much of this game have you actually played Jake? Considering it was only released yesterday. Did you start playing it earlier with a special pre-relesse?
+Five7weezy I got it early, yeah. Last Friday
gameranx What about the difficulty? You didn't mention anything about it in the video. (Sorry for piggybacking)
+luca13knt You can choose between Easy or normal.
well he told us what the second half of the game was like, so you'd wanna hope he's mostly played through the entire thing
Five7weezy yesterday?? I got it a week ago lol
this was my first Final Fantasy game , and I've had it for like 4 days and I'm 18ish hours in, and I love it. never thought I'd play a Final Fantasy tbh, but a local game shop had it with no case for $8 so I figured why not . the combat system is alright, and the soundtrack is amazing. The game has a lot of customizable elements which I love.
For first time Final Fantasy players, I would recommend playing Final Fantasy X. It's a good mix of a battle system and a great story with awesome characters!
It's too hard
That was my first ff.
Why does no one ever turn on the stamina bar? You can refresh your sprint by pressing L3 when it's about to run out and it's so helpful and I see no one doing it hahaha
I didn't know that lmao
I knew how to turn on the bar but not the l3 thing
because the game fails to tell you that you can do that (unless i missed a tutorial hint). you need to buy the guide for that info.
or find that on your own randomly xD
Mushu Damaschin like i did :D
I want it genuinely because Kingdom Hearts 3 isnt out yet.
Zeke Ruff are you getting 2.8 and the 1.5 and 2.5 remaster next year ?
Troy Montana fuck yeah man but only 2.5 and 2.8. but even then march is lowkey far ya know?
Zeke Ruff I know and I don't think I care for 1.5 either . 2.5 includes 2 of the best kingdom hearts game in the franchise. So yea 2.8 and 2.5 for me also z
Ok so my brother has a PS3 and I have a PS4 and wanted to get into the KH (and FF) series, so I asked if I could borrow his. I beat KH1 and understand the story for RE:COM, but I had to return his PS3 back to him. I bought 2.5 later but haven't started it up yet, so I've been wondering whether I should buy the remasters for PS4 anyways and either not play the PS3 versions or if there is any merit to getting it again on PS4, or beg my brother until he lets me use his PS3 again and maybe disregard the PS4 editions (maybe getting it later on for replaying or something).
Anyone able to help me in my time of need?
Loansome wait for the ps4
Everybody claiming you need to watch Kingsglaive and Brotherhood to understand the story, really don't remember playing FF7 or FFX...... or rather don't comprehend that type of story telling.
Yall just nitpicking.
First Final Fantasy since 7, love it to death. You go on an emotional up and down with these characters, and while I have to admit it's not always done well, it is there. certain characters you feel you should have a connection to, but don't. Others you didn't know you had a connection to until it's too late and you're thirteen boxes of tissues into your supply. Some dungeons are liniar and simple, and others are maze crazy. Prompto makes this game look like Pun Simulator 2016, and I hate myself for paying attention to him. Some story elements need more explaining, you find yourself search the web for life answers, and others give too much information without you caring. The regalia is by far the most life changing aspect of the game. you hate it, then you love it, then you miss it, then you don't understand anything about it. It might as well be its own character. Come and game nothing is the same and you just want to go back to the begining. The game also features the JRPG style New Game +, so you can run through again with a fighting chance. Overall I give it a 8.5/10, with a useless hope of an overhaul
i've never clicked so fast on a video
woah, thanks.
gameranx sup
I never thumbs upped a comment so fast
Noctis' favorite meal is french fries lol. For a prince you would expect something fancy but no. I love how chill the character is.
So I've NEVER played a Final Fantasy game, but I'm looking at getting into the series. Would it be ok if I jumped into this game, or should I start with another one?
This game is probably the perfect game to get into Final Fantasy. I've played multiple Final Fantasy games, and this one was probably the easiest to get into.
XV isn't like XIV, XIV isn't like XIII, XIII isn't like XII, XII isn't like XI and XI isn't like X. X is like most other Final fantasies from the main series though. And then you have the spin offs, my favorite happens to be the Tactics series.
KiramaticXVII thanks for the info
+John Sledge Well after FINAL FANTASY the games have been very stand alone so you really don't need to play any of them first unless you're playing the FF 10's where yeah play 10 then 10 2. Same goes for the 13's. play 13 1, 13 2, then 13 3. 1, (japanese 2), (japanese 3), 2/ japanese 4, (japanese 5), 3/japanese 6, 7, 8, 9, and 15 are unrelated to each other and just playing any of them by themselves is fine.
One of the joys of the FF series is that you can start with any game. Each segment is its own universe. If you want a personal rec, VII, X, and VI are three of the better ones.
FFXV was my first FF game , I really like the story and the characters (Mostly Ardyn) , and then I Became obsessed with FF . I bought Type-0 , X , X-2 and Dissidia NT .
I recommend VII and XII
I play about 27 hours a day, is this game for me?
Not with that attitude it's not.
sleep is for the weak
ignoring the over exaggeration of how much you play, if you play for long periods each day, you'll beat it in less than a week
DefyLogicc Really?
a day only has 24 hours tho
Kinda sucks how much footage square put out from the main story... I'm 10 hours in and still have yet to see a main story quest that wasn't shown in a gameplay video released by them...
I know this is long, but just hang in there with me for a few moments. Last December I was visiting with my sister and brother in law. he stated to me not to tell him ANYTHING about the new star wars that was coming out as he had purposely avoided every ad and trailer for it and wanted to go into the movie blind. He loved the movie, I found the movie to be a little dull as I had seen so many spoilers. I have now adapted his method of watching 0 trailers for a movie or game I want to play/watch. I cannot tell you how much more I have enjoyed some games/movies since I went incompletely blind. Might be something you could adopt in the future. Publishers/movie studio's trailers just give away to much now days.
Steven M yeah, but when you wait for something nearly a decade, it's a little hard not to at least take a peak when they put up massive gameplay dumps half a year before release
You have to watch the anime sadly.
Booty Has Risen that's why you don't watch them
the story isn't properly fleshed out and super jumpy. characters are completely forgotten and a lot of important events happen off screen. the game feels unfinished because of this.
Why have a completely fleshed out story when you can leave chucks of it out and charge people for it as DLC? That's why the quality of older games were so good. The main focused back then was creating the best game not the best way to get the most money out of the game.
esnips123123 da fuq how is that this game gets so much hate ? If it feels unfinished than maybe its because u didn't watch brotherhood or kingsglaive. And no this isn't just lazy storytelling because only the attack on lucis was cut of because of kingsglaive. I don't get it they worked 10 hard years, deleting and reinventing there game and the one thing the community says is: Its not like the other FF i don't like it, it has different kind of storytelling its not good enough for me. Me as a normal dude who has no idea of good game design can call this crab" u know at a battlefield or cod or even AC i could totally understand it because they try to do the same lame shit every year. But FF ? It is a different story every time and it has different story telling every time... And the ending ? It is so good and dramatic that its like one of the best endings ever. Just because it doesn't answer all question that are asked throughout the game. I don't get it... Why would they work 10 years and then say "fuck it... 10 years are enough lets get them this shitshow" it doesn't make any sense.
Theshadowclaw3000 Simple it's called DLC. Why complete the story when you can leave bits and pieces of it out and charge people extra for what should have been in the game.
+Cyrus Wu thank you, that's the hands down worst part of this game.. the nonsensical story.
+Theshadowclaw3000 why should we rely on external sources to understand the context of game ? that's stupid, and equivalent to the grimoire cards in destiny. while Kingsglaive and Brotherhood are good in their own right, it doesn't excuse the fact that the in game story of XV is terribly underwhelming and in-cohesive.
So I never played a Final Fantasy game but did play a demo of VIII as a kid.
I'm big on Kingdom Hearts though would you recommend this game for me?
Lol stop trolling
NOOOOOO!!!!!!
So far this is one of the greatest ff games and rpgs I've ever played. It's cinematically and visually stunning. The game play is fun and the leveling system reminds me of an older ps1 and ps2 game I used to play which I can't for the life of me remember the name of it. It brings all the elements of older FF games together and is still fluid enough to do their own thing. I like the new fighting system it feels more realistic, I dislike wait mode however.
The downfall is the vehicle system. I wish it was truly free roam or you could buy different vehicles or motorcycles. But over all it isn't bad.
They really took their time on character development it feels like you truly get to know your characters.
Worth the price tag.
10/10
Noctis is the least stuck up and selfish prince i've seen in a video game. I mean, he took the blame for Gladios little sister. That is not selfish
And wait: even The ff13 soundtracks, because those track were bomb as fuck
Yeah, loving cruisin' with my bros listening to Sabers Edge :D
heard you can buy a music box for 100 gil and listen to whatever you have anywhere
I am so rocking blinded by light 24/7
Itai Sprachman Ok cool, was wondering how to listen to shit out of the car (was added in that Day 1 Patch but couldn't figure out how to get it to work, I'll keep an eye out at the stores)
Final Fantasy 15? What's next? *Kingdom Hearts 3*? Cmon Square Enix please.
ǝɯǝɯ ʎɔıds YES PLS.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake
llazy77 KH3 is coming first im pretty sure
I don't see FF7R coming till at least 2019. I'm talking the first part, not the entire thing.
There's no chance it releases 2017 for the 20th anniversary unless they are doing a Bethesda, which is the complete opposite to their XV approach.
Wow how do you speak so fast without breathing? Amazing. BTW can you just walk about killing stuff for fun? Like ignore quests or at end of game still do that
ngl i expected you to say in the beginning, "if you want a more story turn based rpg thats more high quality in design, play Persona 5"
I bought this game yesterday at Wal-Mart for $9!! It’s the “Day One Edition”!! I’ve never played a Final Fantasy game. I can’t wait to install and play this game!!
I think I got my copy from walmart for $10 a year or so ago...I bought the deluxe edition from a different walmart for like $20 a few months before that, lol.
Did you like it?
To those who feel camping out is so weird and out of place for a FF game just remember...even from FFI you’ve been able to use an item on the world map to regain your health. And what was that item’s name? A TENT. Other than the great amount of detail they put into the experience in FFXV it’s nothing as “new” as you think
I was on the fence of getting this game. 2:50 just sold me. Idk why. But that view..... Something about it.
Is FFXV the Final Fantasy game that action lovers like myself, who never got into the turn based game-play of traditional jrpg's could get in to ?
Always thought that the Final Fantasy games looked awesome (since the snes/nes) but couldn't grasp the turn based combat and much preferred games like Zelda or Elder Scrolls Oblivion/Skyrim.
What's FFXV like and how does the combat work ?
You hold down the button to attack. And Combos are triggered automatically. Clearly this game is not for actual gamers.
SAME HERE! i hate turn based combat so this will be my first FF game
haaaa. yeah sure. hold down the buton. dont try to dodge and go for back atacks and elemental / wepon weakness. maybe that will work for you on easy
You're not talking about Zelda as if it's an RPG series, are you?
Not that great, the combat as an arpg is very basic. If I were to rate this based on combat alone I'd give it a 6/10(and this is me being generous). If you want to try out a jrpg that's real action based I'd recommend you to check out the Tales of series and the Ys series. And you might also want to keep an eye out for NieR:Automata, Tales of Berseria and Nioh. All of them are action based jrpgs coming out early next year.
In my opinion the Chocobos & cat sidequest validated the game. Cindy & Lunafreya are waifu material. And also the main crew are not annoying. And that always counts as a plus in my book
I like the game. It is new and different in many ways. One major downfall for me, however, is that I'm used to triple A titles having good to great spatial sound, making u feel further immersed in the world. Environment sound is super flat, too low in almost every case and from what I can tell... There is very little surround mixing that was done. Cars that drive by you in the world make near ZERO noise... By that I mean no woosh of wind, no tire noises during turns, no mechanical noises etc... It IS THE MOST IMMERSION BREAKING ASPECT OF THE GAME FOR ME.
They put all the spatial sound to the test while hunting for small frogs, the rest of the game had to put on the backburner so we could find them :P
dude talks about sound when the soundtracks for every final fantasy and afrojack are spread across the world.....with a portable mp3....LOOOOL
mrtoolegittoquit2 Can you imagine how great all those soundtracks would be if they actually put time into engineering spatial surround?
Every single triple A title in the past 10 years knows that sound is just as important as video quality, if not moreso. Like I said before, great game, just wished they took some hours from making Spam Masubi look real, so the open world audio was half as convincing.
I start playing it yesterday, and I can't let down the controller, it took all my time and I like it alot, big fan of FF games and Square enix, thanks for the video
