Thank you so much for taking the time for sharing this great information! In VA, whether you have a food truck/trailer or a hot dog cart, one needs the ServSafe Manager's Certification. I passed the exam a few weeks ago, more than a few tricky questions. Yes either a reefer or cooler 41F and under. Glad to see that your business is accelerating more and more, best wishes!
Thank You for the Time you have taken to Explain so much IMPORTANT Needed Information..Im soaking up everything I can find..I very much appreciate your help..Its alot to understand but with people like you helping it makes it so much easier to get pointed in the right direction..Im in the process of building a cart now...Again Thank You 👍👍
Why did I not get my permits? I invested my life savings into an Escargot Sushi (raw snail) cart. My cousin’s friend harvests tons of snails in Belgium. I just want to bring the goodness of France and Belgium here! Oh, and them brain-eat-worms from consuming raw snails, is highly exaggerated.
Boondoggie, A excellent contribution & presentation for any & all dog slingers. Words of wisdom that can make the difference between successes & failures. Best wishes in your (& others) future endeavours. Thank you, Mo
Mine is an Excellence 3MM beverage fridge. 1.5 cubic ft. You should be able to search for something similar online, or even call up your local restaurant store, and they can find one for you. Unfortunately I’d be surprised you found one for less than $1K these days.
at a buffet, i personally sneak corndogs into the buffet so others can enjoy them. I hide 6 corndogs in my jacket pockets. it then, is a joy for me to see other patrons of the establishment eat my corndogs thinking they were part of buff
I’m usually pretty good about putting in a disclaimer about this…. I think you’ll find it at 0:15 in this video. 👍🏻 You’re absolutely right, do your own research in your state and county.
Not a specific cart, just specific equipment depending on your menu. Unfortunately you cannot have a flat top grill without a hood, and in order to serve chili, cheese or even sliced tomatoes (any potentially hazardous food) you have to have a 3 compartment sink.
Okay thanks I'm looking for a cart and the guy told me I had to have a special one for California and tried to charge me $6000 for the cart at dock Dawgs any recommendations were to purchase one and thanks for your quick response
@@jimmietrammel1214 I bought mine from Craigslist, but that’s about what it cost me overall to get it up to spec to pass health inspection in CA. I think you could get it done for less if you’re able to do the work yourself. Or if you get lucky and find one that has everything you need, and you don’t have to put any money into it. There isn’t really a handbook on what’s required but your county health dept is usually happy to help you determine exactly what you need.
Getting our HD to sign off on our cart's refrigerator was an absolute 🐻. They would *not* approve a "beverage or wine chiller" fridge, citing that if there were any spills of potentially hazardous foods, it would be too difficult to clean all surfaces, cracks and crevices. 🤐
🤦🏼♀️ that’s exactly what I mean! It’s asinine! There is absolutely no difference in cooling capability, or cleaning. A fridge is a fridge is a fridge. The only thing that matters is temp.
Thanks for sharing.. I’ll be Bentwood Ca, in April doing a comedy show with my friend Kabir at CAPS restaurant. I’ll have to stop by the new place and check it out and get some hot dogs… i’m hoping to be open with my Hot Dog Cart here in San Jose in later April early May. Fingers crossed.
You see how you said when you get into potentially hazardous foods like cheese you have to have a 3 sink setup, but how will that stop cheese from potentially harming someone. Just more bureaucratic red tape really.
I agree with you about the red tape absolutely. It’s something to do with the utensils and dishes used to serve them, needing to be washed every 4 hours. They just scrap the whole category even if it could be done safely for just the one item. Logic doesn’t exactly apply in some cases. 👎🏻
Thanks for sharing ... love your videos! Wake County here in NC is horrible with their crap The head office for the state is here in Raleigh.. all I got to say! lol

I do thank you for all the information you share. Although I live in Oregon, all your tips are very important for my goals to become a hot dog vendor.
Is there any way I can get in touch with you?

Starting a business is a crash course in learning about government nonsense, bureaucracy and corruption.
💯
Thanks for the information

Some of these don’t apply to all states. Good guidelines, do research on what is required in your state. If you’re considering becoming a vendor.

In pa someone with a serve safe certificate must be within reach via phone.
