Especially since we know that Toriyama works more closely with Toyatoro then Toei Super anime. You can definitely see it here! The Black arc manga was better, but at least in the anime, Trunks didn't get sidelined in his own arc.
It's interesting to me that I have never seen an ultra instinct video discuss the Japanese concept of mushin or wuxin in Chinese. Basically it means the mind without mind. It's all about the martial arts concept of moving your body without needing the use of your mind. Since you mentioned the whole Bruce Lee and the be like water thing, That was actually taught to him by one of his teachers named Fook Yeung, You can argue maybe took it from Mushin, But more likely from the five element training. Which come to think about it, Whis uses Wing Chun which is what Bruce Lee studied. All interesting.
In response to 6:07 , I think the reason Roshi never tought Goku how to use his version of UI in Dragonball, is because it's not something that can be taught. It's only something one can gain through experience. Roshi told Goku to travel around the world to seek out stronger opponents in Dragonball souly for that purpose. It's also set up by Roshi's training for Goku to eat well, sleep well, and fight well. By having Goku's body maintain wellness, it makes the process for Goku learning self movement more effective.
@@SneakyHuntingHT I'll agree that the Roshi vs Jiren things was absurd, though putting that aside I do think its possible Roshi came up with his own inferior version of UI. I just wish he'd demonstrated in on a far weaker opponent than Jiren (But still stronger than Roshi himself) That way it'd have made way more sense and felt far less like lazy writing.
I always love listening to your longer videos as they tend to go more in depth about the topic and I'm looking forward to how the use MUI in the anime when it returns
Ui may not be the best form in terms of design, but everything about this form, from the build up to its abilities, make it one of the best transformations in the franchise.
@@ab020135 so tell wats your brilliant idea for ui then Because ui is surpost to look powerful but minimalist so it has the godly silver colour but doesn't massively change him because its meant to embody yourself your own body

If master roshi was given a younger body in Dragon Ball super. The man would be something to be feared. Even beerus gave the old man props. The way you explained Goku is exactly why he has always been my favorite character in Anime and Manga.
I grew up watching Dragon Ball and I appreciate the franchise for its story. If they did a spinoff of Vegeta's story as a kid that would be awesome. I also wanted to know if you can please do a video on Gohan? The Ultimate or "Mystic" form I think is amazing and with the movie coming up I'm hyped.
@@Geekdom101 I think I did saw that video years ago but I tend to forget sometimes😅 I'm just excited to see him back in action for this upcoming movie. I hope they do his role justice. I wondered if he maybe visited the old Kai again or if Whis trained him? Or maybe he went back into the hyperbolic time chamber to train since he told his dad he would gain power his own way.
@MAID IN HEAVEN FAN 🅥 I don't think so because if we read carefully and in detail the two chapters of the manga where Goku vs Granolah occurs, we realize that Goku was not at 100% capacity when he used the full UI because, before using the silver mode, Goku used the principles of the UI on 3 occasions: once in its base state and the last 2 in God and Blue. In addition to not knowing Granolah's capabilities, Goku used a lot of strength and energy in the fight employing UI on those 3 occasions and by the time he entered the full mode, he was already exhausted. Is not the same case with Moro in the final battle because he was fully healed by Dende and in top condition
Ultra Instinct is easily one of the best parts of the franchise as a whole. Its genuinely my 2nd favorite Transformation/Ability whatever you wanna call it in the entire franchise and honestly Goku MUI vs Jiren is legendary and should be a spot in everybody's top 5. I can't wait until Goku vs Moro gets animated.
Dan Inosanto tells about discussions had with Bruce Lee. He says that one thing that always marveled at him is the fact that Bruce Lee, in his in-depth study of martial arts and training, researched for, let's say, a state of mind by which to predict the movement of the adversary before he actually did it. I don't know if Toriyama knows about this story, because this story is pretty well known among the ones that applied to Dan Inosanto's derived schools, like NPIAMA, but he took the spirit of Bruce Lee's martial arts.
This is why I like Omen, it's not some transformation or anything like that, it's merely Goku using his body to it's absolute limit, and going beyond that to truly master UI, yea I hate the silver haired form, but I love Omen, it's true mastery of UI and with Merus training Goku to be able to fully utilize UI in base, it's just that, a base state of being where Goku is the absolute master of Martial Arts at his base.
It’s an angelic/divine technique tho. So the fact it changed his hair makes sense and imo makes the form look even better. Because it’s bigger than just martial arts.
I've always assumed roshi did keep up his training whenever people weren't necessarily watching him because to even the people in universe his power comes nowhere close to the threats that they were facing even in the early saiyan saga. I don't remember a lot about dragon Ball the early stuff but the earliest I can recall mental training happening is on the way to namek which may imply that they knew it beforehand but I just don't remember cuz it's been years. But if Master roshi has mental training based on how he's scaling himself against his own students and he kept his mind sharp he would definitely push his fighting spirit over his own limitations probably multiple times over with all the things he's seen in his life. So even if he can't physically keep up with everybody else his experience hasn't capped by any means which is just further motivation for how humans can keep up with all the alien races.
Remember the battle with Lord Slug. I think that moment was a shortened version of Ultra Instinct for Goku at that time. Ultra Instinct is like the Dragon Ball version of Determination from Undertail.
I just finally saw the fight between Jiren and Goku when he first masters Ultra Instinct. Goosebumps. Such a bad ass moment. Also I was waiting for someone to call Jiren out on really being a scared child deep inside. Figures it would be Frieza. Don't get me wrong he's bad ass, very bad ass. But I was waiting for someone to be like, "Aww but inside you're still that hurt little boy," lmfao
funny how people complain about goku getting that massive power increase in dbs but goku has fought and trained hard his entire life to be the best he can be and he earned that power yet people were perfectly fine with gohan who barely trained easily going ssj2 and his ultimate form and yeah i know he's a power prodigy but that saiyan power is obviously inherited from Goku
Personally, I think that having Vegeta reach something akin robbed Ultra Instinct severely. I thought this even with Jiren, though Jiren needed to be something so outstanding that I can understand it. Thank goodness they did not have Kefla tank it or challenge it.
I think this is a great video. Ode to the masters. Liked the manga vs anime comparison as I've only seen the anime. Also worth noting or adding to the end, when Goku and Gohan stay in Super Saiyan before facing cell, Krillin throws a rock at ssj Goku by the river and Goku is hit by it cause he wasn't aware it was coming. So he truly hadn't mastered anything like u.i.
In my opinion, Goku's UI Omen / Mastered UI is just the proper evolution to his SSJG form. By heirarchy, gods are on a lower level to the angels. So, from his god form (SSJG) to being in the state of the angels (UI Omen / UI) just makes sense. 😅😅😅 On the other hand, SSJB just branches out to the SSJ version of his god form.
Watching this video to beginning a new year filled with freshly new DB content is a fantastic start! you must have took some days, months last year to do this video and it turned out to be amazing with all the knowledge from Goku humble training beginnings from Master Muten Roshi to Whis. I think Roshi probably didn't teached UI to Goku that early because his mind, spirit wasn't ready yet to tap into it, and if he couldn't learn Kaioken without training first with Kami & Popo, it probably wouldn't be right him learn UI has a kid because he hasn't managed to use his mind yet to fight. Plus, Master Roshi just can't teach something like that to Goku knowing his potential and eventuallly surpass him because Goku was very strong when he was little. Awesome video Geekdom!
Hey Geekdom, with budding anticipation for the new movie. I was wondering if you can, or have a panel discussion to speak on the plausibility of Gohan and Piccolo possessing God Ki. Or at least how it can be written without a retcon.. If the literal translation of “Kami” is “God” in Japanese, and Piccolo fused with Kami. I feel like the door is open for them to write it in if they chose to. Kind of like what they did with UUB… Also I believe Gohan has God Ki because how you explained it in your “Ultimate Gohan Explained” video. The Elder Kai “unlocked his latent ability on the divine level.” With guru also doing the same in his kid years, I feel that Gohan has been given 2 “God Influenced” transformations… With this said I think it will be cool to maybe explore a theory that Gohan will achieve a higher power in the new movie (maybe with God Ki), and theorize on what direction the writers may take it based on Gohan’s personality (his own variant of a UI or UE). When Gohan sparred with Goku before the Tournament of Power and competed with SSB I raised an eyebrow. There could be a parallel used here for the Androids to once again break Gohan’s limits…. Sorry for the long post. Thanks brother, never put my brain to work like this. Your page made me fall back in luv with Dragonball. Love what your doing, and Happy New Year to ya! 🤟🏽💯
Bruce Lee's Fist of Fury (aka The Chinese Connection) was the movie that the idea of self-movement was shown. But one movie that can also be used to demonstrate UI is Berry Gordy's The Last Dragon (1985). Heck, even (Bruce) Leroy's teacher is a Master Roshi type.
So happy ya'll loved this video!
On my second rewatch!

This is excellent content. Your more serious videos are really good.
thanks!!
Or just lazy writing from the person who obviously did not enjoy having to make the TOP in the manga and wanted it to be over with.
Thank you for doing this video. I think a lot of fan haven't put this together beforehand. This topic is one that o really enjoy about DB's story.
The filler in Dragon Ball and the Saiyan Saga were my favorites. Then...
I always love listening to your longer videos as they tend to go more in depth about the topic and I'm looking forward to how the use MUI in the anime when it returns
Wow man this was a masterpiece. This is exactly what I was hoping for when you said you’d do this video on Twitter. Awesome!
A new years gift thank u Geekdom u really are the pioneer of DB info and in depth details
thanks!!
Ui may not be the best form in terms of design, but everything about this form, from the build up to its abilities, make it one of the best transformations in the franchise.
I mean even it’s design is good imo, why would a form based on a technqiue make someone look completely different
When it’s basis is a technique
@@sidecharacter3193 Lol the design kinda sucks.
@@ab020135 Not at all tf? Sure Blue and God may look a bit lacking in design, but UI is perfect
@@preds43 vegeta already show interest in ultra instinct. Training in yadrat widen his scope.
@@ab020135 so tell wats your brilliant idea for ui then
Because ui is surpost to look powerful but minimalist so it has the godly silver colour but doesn't massively change him because its meant to embody yourself your own body
Geekdom, you're struggling to have everything you want, while the world tries to make you choose
Bro am I the only one who sat there for 3 or 4 minutes looking at the thumbnail before starting the video?
Me too 😆 😆
Its crazy how roshi was moving like that just imagine if they made a wish to make him.younger i bet he would be a beast on the battle field
MasakoX made a whole series about what if Roshi became young again. I can recommend watching it, for sure
It was destination and friends Goku made along the way that lead him to Ultra Instinct. Also I like Roshi using UI in the Manga was just as good as the Anime.
This makes me wanna go back and reread the og dragonball manga
If master roshi was given a younger body in Dragon Ball super. The man would be something to be feared. Even beerus gave the old man props. The way you explained Goku is exactly why he has always been my favorite character in Anime and Manga.
This was an appreciable discussion and I can't wait until the manga training and fights get animated.
I grew up watching Dragon Ball and I appreciate the franchise for its story. If they did a spinoff of Vegeta's story as a kid that would be awesome. I also wanted to know if you can please do a video on Gohan? The Ultimate or "Mystic" form I think is amazing and with the movie coming up I'm hyped.
ive done a video called Ultimate Gohan Explained which is literally THE most viewed video on my channel dude.
@@Geekdom101 I think I did saw that video years ago but I tend to forget sometimes😅
I'm just excited to see him back in action for this upcoming movie. I hope they do his role justice. I wondered if he maybe visited the old Kai again or if Whis trained him? Or maybe he went back into the hyperbolic time chamber to train since he told his dad he would gain power his own way.
What about Roshi and Gohan? We could use a spin off of that
@@kcthompson445 yea that would be dope
Man thank you for the 7 years of amazing content! Been here since the beginning!
This video was awesome! Keep up the great work geekdom101!
DB and DBZ have really good fillers. there is a lot of information that beautifully develops the plot and makes sense
Goku has...
1 Father Figure
8 Masters
Dozens of Friends
1 Wife
2 Sons
1 Granddaughter
1 Eternal Rival
1 God of Destruction
1 Enemy
1 Student
He was building connections like a college student
@@hichaeljordan963 And a lot of those friends are actually former villains.
Geekdom, you make the best and most knowledgeable videos in DB. I truly appreciate the time you put into DB in Depth vids.
I’ve been waiting for you to talk about how much more powerful uub and goku were when they met now. It’s a great way to show uub’s potential
It was a long road, but the reward was awesome :D !
Geekdom I have been listening to you for like 5 years and I gotta say this is one of the best videos you have done!
What’s your favorite transformation
@@JoeKing837 it's a tie between SSJ and SSJ2, can't beat the classics
Amazing Video @Geekdom101 Really Maybe one of the Your Best Videos you have Done!!!
thanks
Of all Goku's teachers, Roshi is probably my favorite.
Plus he's almost like Goku's second adopted grandfather.
We all know that eventually, Goku will train under The Grand Priest
Yah, it would make sense of Goku's new Gi at the end of Z.
Seeing goku turn regular ssj will always be badass as well as using kaoken
Definitely one of your best videos man
Amazing video as always , I loved the way you explain UI when it was revealed , i never knew bruce lee talked about this untill you explained it
these are your best videos love when you go in depth on dragonball lore and principles
So even if he can't physically keep up with everybody else his experience hasn't capped by any means which is just further motivation for how humans can keep up with all the alien races.
what a way to end the year Danny. great video front to back
Remember the battle with Lord Slug. I think that moment was a shortened version of Ultra Instinct for Goku at that time. Ultra Instinct is like the Dragon Ball version of Determination from Undertail.
I listen to the Ultimate Battle Theme everyday at work! ^.^
Get trained by pure masters and gods
Fans: that’s an ass pull
Nearly knocks gerin off the ring without ultra instinct
Fans: goku is a bad strategist
I’ve been waiting for this one 🔥
One of your best vids 💎
I just finally saw the fight between Jiren and Goku when he first masters Ultra Instinct. Goosebumps. Such a bad ass moment. Also I was waiting for someone to call Jiren out on really being a scared child deep inside. Figures it would be Frieza. Don't get me wrong he's bad ass, very bad ass. But I was waiting for someone to be like, "Aww but inside you're still that hurt little boy," lmfao
funny how people complain about goku getting that massive power increase in dbs but goku has fought and trained hard his entire life to be the best he can be and he earned that power yet people were perfectly fine with gohan who barely trained easily going ssj2 and his ultimate form and yeah i know he's a power prodigy but
that saiyan power is obviously inherited from Goku
Can you make a video about how many martial arts Goku use during his battles from the original serie to Super
I've been waiting all day for this!
1 hellified explanation n throughout breakdown! U b goin hard on yur wrk n it truly shows!!!
Sometimes I wonder if ppl forget goku has been training with gods since gotten was baby😂
Goku's last sensei Grand Priest.
THAT'D BE COOL
@@Geekdom101 Agreed 👍👍👍
@@Geekdom101 he trained with The Grand Priest in Super Dragon Ball Heroes.
Its because Roshi was busy checking them magazines then wanting to train Goku 😂😂👍
Personally, I think that having Vegeta reach something akin robbed Ultra Instinct severely. I thought this even with Jiren, though Jiren needed to be something so outstanding that I can understand it. Thank goodness they did not have Kefla tank it or challenge it.
Excellent video, well done! 👏
Great subject to round out the year bro! Very interesting and answered some of my questions! Thanks for the great content!
Great stuff man
In my opinion, Goku's UI Omen / Mastered UI is just the proper evolution to his SSJG form. By heirarchy, gods are on a lower level to the angels. So, from his god form (SSJG) to being in the state of the angels (UI Omen / UI) just makes sense. 😅😅😅
On the other hand, SSJB just branches out to the SSJ version of his god form.
I really enjoyed this one, probably now my fav. Thanks Geekdom
Early squad and I knew the training in Dragonball was for ultra instinct especially with korrin and popo
Next up Vegeta’s road to Ultra Ego
This may have aged well
Great video Geekdom!
This is Some good , legit Dragon ball content
This video is pure 🔥! Good job bro!
Good job on video my g 💯❤️💪🏾🙏🏾
