I am in tears. You video is awesome. My module went out and Toyota told me it was going to be about $2000 to repair. I ordered the unit from a salvage dealer. After watching your video I realized I only needed to change the control Module. Job complete in 10 minutes. Thank you!!!

Used part from local salvage business for $100 with $25 core charge and 90 day warranty. 4mm socket worked better than 5/32 for me. Be careful when tightening screws, I twisted one off; but luckily was able to remove it. So far, it has solved my problem.

General FYI: I had the same issue with an 07 Camry. In the process of taking out the old one I found a lot of dust/debris in there. Blew compressed air throughout it and plugged it back in and everything was back to normal again. Maybe worth a shot for some of you who are looking for solutions. Didnt have to dish out money for a new part.

    *Gear (P,R,N, D..)indicator on/off
    *Air-flow issues for AC/heat
*Defogger in front window works at 5% efficiency (REALLY long time to clear-not acceptable in winter)
*Rear-windshield defroster works only at C- level

Hey u are a lifesaver, I took my camry to Toyota dealership and they initially told me it was a bad wire fit for skid control sensor, so when I picked my car up the dealership gave it back to me with the lights on and issue still there,, speedometer not working, Rpm gauge bouncing, temp gauge going nuts, D not lightning up, and E would show where outside temp is,, then it would go back to normal, then do it again,, it drove me nuts and stressed me out.. Dealership finally told me it might be acutator but there not sure and it would at least cost me 2Gs,,and I kept telling them I would do it if I knew the issue for sure.. I just didn't understand how this dealership was so incompetent, and then I looked at reviews and people were saying same complaints about this dealership.. I am not a handy person at all, I'm more of a pay for it to go away and u saved me alot of money and more importantly piece of mind.. That's all I wanted from the dealership.. Thank u so much,, I paid 300 for whole thing and just took module off and used that

Have heard rumors I need a Dealer to flash the new module in order for it to work on my vehicle. Can you confirm if this is why your auto parts recycler asked you about the VIN, etc. of the Camry to prevent the need to flash? Looking to avoid a trip to the Dealer when replacing. I'm not a mechanic so I can't give a definitive answer. Do your research. Check the forums for your make of vehicle and ask others with the same make/model who have had the same problem. You could check in your vehicle's repair manual. Like at this link but for your vehicle: amzn.to/2NTYMrg. If you can't find the answers you need ask the auto recycler or get a local mechanic to do the work for you.

Many thanks for this Video, Woodified. It is really an eye opener. I changed my 2008 Toyota Camry brake pads about 2 months ago, since then, the brake has been vibrating on idle speed when I match brake. My mechanic has confirmed that my ABS is bad, do I need to change only the ABS module to correct this?. However, my mechanic also suggested isolating the brake pipes from the ABS to allow the brakes pumps fluid directly, just like bypassing the ABS using other connectors, is this advisable? because I have seen this work perfectly in some vehicles. I learnt other compartments like AC and Gear are connected to the ABS module

I found the module on line at ebay for $175 + $100 core. I will receive the core money after I've returned it. The total repair took me 20 minutes. My ABS light on my 08 Camry comes on randomly and sometimes it comes on right away and stays on. I do not have the other dashboard issues as some in this post. I had a mechanic use his diagnostic tool and he said it was my ABS front wheel sensor, which I replaced. It didn't resolve the issue, so I checked the wiring back to the ABS module and all was good. I also tested the new ABS sensor with a ohm meter and it appears that the new and old sensor are good. I did some research on the internet and it appears that the ABS module could be the culprit. I found a replacement on line, but a few posts suggest I need to have the module "programmed" by the dealer. Anyone know if this is true? I read your post and after you replaced the module everything was fine. I'm just concerned that if I but this module on line for $150 that it won't work or create other issues. Thoughts?

So idk if it's the part that the abs control module(ACM) connects to or if it's the ACM... but the part is making like a chirp noise when the brakes are applied.
It's possible to avoid the chirp if I don't press the brakes past about 10%. This occurs while driving or if parked. Further, when I turn the vehicle on and if I immediately start reversing or going forward there is sometimes a delay in full brake function in the sense that the brakes will slow the vehicle but to stop it. To stop it I have to press way more than I should for the speed I am going.
Wondering what could cause this. I'd prefer to not just replace the parts. I like to understand it and refurbish if possible.

The abs pump is also coming on and off frequently. Like comes on for 10 seconds, off for 3 on for 10... Etc. The thing likely needs replaced but I know of these being refurbished so was hoping to do that instead of spending big moneys on a part that only costs that much because of safety reasons. Was also hoping that it could have been a partial blockage of some kind between the fluid reservoir and the pump but eh seems unlikely.

My ABS, Check Engine, and Brake Lights light up and the Speedometer stays at 0 mph and Tachometer flicker intermittently? The biggest problem for me is that the AC stops blowing cold air when all this is happening. I live in the desert where the temps are 110 degrees and drive for a living so I need this fixed ASAP. I called a few service centers and they think I'm crazy when I ask about the ABS nodule. They say that the ABS module is related to the brake system and doesn't have anything to do with the A/C or dash gauges. I don't have $$$$ for a dealership or repair center so this is my only hope. I went to the salvage yard they brought the wrong one to me, instead of having 8 of the connection holes it had 12 and the salvage hard had a note saying my part needed to be programed but when I realized it was the wrong one and returned it. I found the correct on ebay and it had 8 hole and it did not need to be programed.

@Woodified, if you were to replace the pump then would you have to bleed the brakes? I have a 2002 Sequoia and this would be simple for me to fix. My module and pump was around $250 for a used one with a year warranty.

@@psygmamusic7251 My problem was with the gauges not working. A have a vid link in the description to see what my problem was. My brake pedal didn't seem any different so I only replaced the module and that solved my problem. If you disconnect the pump lines the process becomes more difficult. I'm not a mechanic however you could get a quote from a local mechanic you trust. They would be able tell you what's wrong and you could then decide whether or not to do the work yourself. Great video. Great detail. I had a choice of a module with 79,000 miles on it for 234 usd after sales tax. Other option was 123,000 for about 205 without tax, etc. took me about 15m. Unfortunately my abs and brake light and speedometer seem to be coming back Intermittently. I made sure to clean the o ring around the new module. I also reflashed the ecu to ensure it didn’t just need a reflash to clear the codes. I’m trying it at later today.. anyone else experience this?
