Hello, I am slowly transitioning into this career path. Because of you I am absolutely going to join the ATD ATL chapter. I was looking into the DDI website and I have not found anything there that mentions how to get certified, is that still available? My goal is to provide training to small businesses and I think being affiliated with an organization such as DDI would be very helpful. Thank you for any assistance you can provide.
Update: I found what I was looking for. Thank you so much for providing this information.

I live in Maryland and am looking for live Train the Trainer courses. The closest I can find is in Alexandria. I checked Langevin but all virtual. I need in person “practice”. (Which terrifies me haha)

What is the best way to get over the stage fright to present and be a good trainer?

Practice. I know it’s over used, but it’s true. The more that you do something, the more you come to know the material, the more confident you become as a trainer. Practice - church, social situations, family dinners, work - take any opportunity you can to lead a discussion, process, or present information. You will eventually become more comfortable- even if you still have a bit of stage fright.

I already have a BA in HR and working in the HR field. But I would like to move into that specific area of L&D. Where should I be looking? I have a membership with AtD but I have not moved towards the certification yet.

You’re already in a great position, both career wise as well as ATD. I would network within ATD and/or your company to see if there are some training projects that you could collaborate on. If nothing else, it will allow you to make your interests known as well as network with folks doing what you ultimately want to do. Thanks for watching!

This was very helpful and a great reminder. I am in black investment club and we are long term buyers but we are also learning as we go through the year. It’s been 3 years and this year we are buying land. Very excited for this new journey. Thank you! 🤎
