  • There's almost a dozen Blue Fire clones around the world, but only one has a unique modified layout, and that's Steel Taipan at Dreamworld! In this scenario, the first launch is replaced with a triple 'swing' launch, sending you back and forth, up and over a twisted spike on the back end. It also features a spinning car on the back of one of the trains for an even more unique ride experience!

2:32 I like how in Taylor’s videos, when he’s talking about an elite coaster, he always says MAYBE the best in the world. It’s a good anticipation builder for when he eventually reveals his #1

As a local this is a fair review. I was a bit worred for the ride originally after watching Taylor's brutal Blue Fire review, but I think it turned out to be a solid, entry level thrill coaster. and the Spinning Seats are crazy; doing the "Blue Fire" roll spinning is a sensation I'll never forget haha. Worth a trip back for sure one day!

The dead space on the launch is exactly what I'm afraid of for Top Thrill 2

It’ll only be an issue for the first launch. The launch won’t be super intense but it will be accelerating for most of the layout. Plus the lsm’s are weaker than hydraulics so it will need the swing launch.

My first launch coaster. While it has some pacing issues, you can't lie that the spike is great, the ride has some intense moments and some good airtime, and that Blue Fire roll is downright fire! I really want to experience the spinning seat one day so maybe Steel Taipan will become my favourite coaster in Australia!

Update, both trains at dreamworld now have spinning rear seats. So no matter the time of year or day you go, you can experience the spinning rear seats privided the ride isnt closed for maintenance.

This park needed a major ride like this, it looks so fun.

I have ridden this 3 times in the spinning seat and taking the loop sideways is great and damn the “Blue Fire Roll” sideways or even backwards is EPIC.
The spinning seat is the best ride on this. Standard seat is spot on for what coaster studios has said.

This ride is at my home park. The spinning seat is just out of control insane! (And yes, always ride by yourself for the best spin) I have also done the spinning seat on icon. There is no comparison, this blows icons spinning seat out of the water! Strange, unusual, and intense sensations especially when you spin in the final roll inversion. The standard seats on steel tiapan provide a fun, re rideable experience, the spinning seat however is seriously intense. If you get a good spin going, it makes DC rivals backwards seat feel like a kiddie coaster in comparison! I hope you can return one day to try it. I’ve done many many coasters around the world but the spinning seats on steel taipan rate amongst one of the best coaster experiences out there.

Interestingly Steel taipan was originally meant to go to a park in china, but that park pulled out and Dreamworld bought it and added the spike. That's why some of the support footers seem to poke out of the ground a lot more than usual, and the launch track has the mounting points for the LSM fins along the whole length of track.

Not entirely correct, the rumour has changed over the year. The park in China pulled out, leaving a space available to construct something for another park that was not already in talks with them. Dreamworld took this space, they did not take a previously built discounted ride.

Very cool because they saved lots of money with not having to redesign a brand new layout but they just added to the original so it's still different and not an exact clone.

Here’s a fun fact… Steel Tiapan was originally built for a theme park in China. However, just as Mack was working on building the track pieces (in the factory), the park pulled out on it due to financial issues. Mack then offered this coaster at a cheaper price and Dreamworld snapped it up.

    • @sammacca5632
      @sammacca5632 11 месяцев назад

That’s not actually correct, it’s a bit of a rumour thats changed over the year. This ride was not already made for the park in China. The park in China withdrew from MACK leaving a slot available to construct something for another park that was not already in talks with Mack. Dreamworld took that spot, they did not purchase an already made discounted ride.

Hi Taylor. Id like to give some constructive criticism if I may. Your videos are professional and polished in almost every way but the one thing holding them back is the voice over. I like that it's unscripted because it feels more natural but you say the word "like" A LOT.

I think they should have added a second loop that would have referred to their original coaster when the park opened

I am still yet to do the spinning seat as well. It just seems really bizarre and lame that they would market it as this incredible addition to the ride, only to have it down for what seems like 90 percent of the time. I feel kind of bad for Dreamworld as this ride gets pretty overshadowed by D.C Rivals and Leviathan. People tend to just drive past it on the way to those rides. Although one mother I was talking to said she found those rides to be way too much, whereas Steel Taipan was really enjoyable, so that's something to consider. Overall I'd say it's a really smooth and fun coaster with some fantastic moments, but it's not quite going to leave you gobsmacked.
