I love how gci puts small pops of airtime everywhere they can. Like, instead of doing a large turn they do two small turn spaced out by a small and abrupt pop of airtime.
I learned how to ride GCI coasters because of your channel. The airtime you get when you hold on to the lapbar is insane. I rode Joris that way this year and I got popped out of my seat a lot of times.
Yes! Thank you thank you. Such an amazing unique ride. Even though we haven't recieved a new coaster since, I'm still so glad to have renegade and I don't really mind. The floater hill after the first drop is really sustained too. One thing I always here from other non enthusiasts about this ride is always about its speed/pacing, GCI did an awesome job on this one. I always come off wanting another 2 or 3 rides, than I end up just marathoning it, it's so fun!
This looks like a really solid GCI. I think this serves well as the Intense aggressive coaster in the park. It has a cool out and back layout and a very unique double twisted first drop that no other GCI has.
Just rode this thing last night at Valleyfair's Halloween Haunt, and WOW. This thing is insane! There wasn't a single moment I wasn't out of my seat! This was also my first GCI as well, so there's that to boot too! Definitely a back seat ride. When you're in the back, you get YANKED over the top, and the transitions were wild as well, not to mention the sheer amount of airtime!

This is my third favorite GCI, as I have Mystic Timbers and Gold Striker ranked above it. I agree the layout for this ride is super good, one of GCI's best for sure
I loved my rides on Renegade in July 2019. I have many GCIs ranked close together, and Renegade is in the middle of the pack. Maybe I underrate it, but it wouldn't take much to move it up several spots. I managed one night ride on my visit. 13 total rides that day, despite the 30-minute lines midday, even on 2-train ops on a weekday. But when the crowds cleared out in the evening, I was then able to get plenty of rides.
@@carlsmith2641 Not too surprising. During the summer at Carowinds, it seems that Saturdays are the slowest days, while weekdays are very busy. I've heard that and experienced it.
Having a season pass & fast lane is worth it just so I can ride Renegade that many more times. I'll have to keep in mind the tip to hold on to the lap bar while riding next time I am out there.
The roller coaster was good but it was intense cause it was very rough. I rode this coaster 7/19/2022. It feels like it needs some love. I still thought this roller coaster was one of the best in the park. I sure wish Valley Fair would add another coaster to the park. I honestly think they should add an inverted coaster to the park.
Two things - Valley Fair Used to have a Log Flume that they unfortunately got rid of in the 2010's, also most locals I know still call it camp snoopy, it was unfortunate that the Schultz Family and the Mall couldn't reach an agreement on name rights, would love to see it go back to being Camp Snoopy.
Ok ok...finally went back... valleyscare is awesome BTW!!! was able to try Northstar and was actually fun...ok renegade....damn it's still fast as hell bit a little more rougher.....in a good way...damn it's out of control and totally relentless. Ride at night is the best!
This looks like one of the upper tier GCI woodies, and I'd love to ride it. The only problem is I don't see myself going to Minnesota anytime soon. I guess I could head through SFGAm and Mt Olympus.
I wanted to ride this so bad and thought I was finally going to have the chance cause I got into the mayo clinic which isn't far from there and was going to be there for a few weeks. Unfortunately I got a surprise bad diagnosis and then couldn't go. I did manage to get on all the coasters at mall of america though. Sucks. I was so freaking close.
Ngl, I think it looks like the best GCI in the western hemisphere. I'm so disappointed in GP me for choosing to go to the mall of america over Valleyfair

i would of rated wild thing at thrill level 4 high thrill due to mid course break run and renegeade at thrill level 5 because its much scarier in my opinion

I disagree about the first drop not having airtime or laterals. I just rode it yesterday in the back at the end of the day, and the first drop gave ejector mixed with laterals
It's definietely my favorite roller coaster at Valleyfair although it's also my least favorite GCI but to be honest the only other GCI roller coasters I've ridden are Apocalypse at Six Flags Magic Mountain and Gwazi at Busch Gardens Tampa (before becoming Iron Gwazi).
@@CanobieCoaster I thought you'd say that but I just loved how Apocalypse had better theming and those 3 tunnels , one of which went over the loading station. I also lived how Gwazi added those Millennium Flyer trains in 2011 and made it much more enjoyable because it was already a great ride to me with all those moments where the two sides went right past each other very fast. That's part of the reason why I wish RMC would've kept both sides of the ride rather than just mix them together into one ride overall.
Do you prefer Renegade over Thunderhead after all the retracking it got in the last year or so?? Or have you not ridden it since then? I thought Thunderhead was phenomenal in the front in 2020!

I prefer GoldStriker to Mystic Timbers, so I think Renegade should end up in my top 2-3 GCIs in the US. I think I should like it more than Mystic.
I prefer it to Gold Striker since it's smoother.

Our weekdays were just as busy or busier than the weekends most of the tome

I’ve been on all the highly praised GCIs in North America and Europe (except Gold Striker), and for me Renegade is clearly number one.

The auto retracting seatbelts were tighter than I remembered in my 2022 rides.

Finding renegade smooth is definitely a hot take its easily the roughest GCI after white lightning and roar
I have a high roughness tolerance, but even my wife had no issue with it.
