    Valleyfair probably has one of the most unique lineups out there. I'm also surprised the hold brake on Steel Venom was replaced this year. The feeling it delivers is unlike anything else out there. I hope Cedar Fair puts more attention and investment into Valleyfair this decade, it deserves it

    Thanks for showing off my home (ish) park! You did really well highlighting all the weird superlatives that Valley Fair can boast about. One I like to boast about is that the larson loop there is the best themed/looking one in the world. The name and colour are both not-so-subtle nods to Prince. Next time you visit, I would highly recommend going into the water park to ride Raging Rapids. Its quite a unique tube slide that functions like a river rapids ride, just with one person in a tube instead of a big raft.

    I just went to valleyfair two weeks ago and was super impressed. Wild thing blew me away especially with the first camelback, I will say though, the midcourse break run does hinder the airtime from being violently strong on the return run but there is still decent floater in the back on all the hills so I didn't think it was bad at all, airtime is airtime lol

    A fine line up. Yep! The water in the ride reminds me of Tidal Wave before they filtered it. Lason's come from my home state, Texas. Can't beat Monster. Still a fun ride to ride as well as watch. They also do a nice job naming rides. This park could use an RMC or Intamin Blitz. Would'nt hurt my feelings to see a B&M either. But, I'd settle for the first 2 just to see more loopers there.

    So is Northern Lights a coaster? I didn't think those were, but I'm seeing them listed on coaster-count.
    I think the holding brake on Steel Venom is a cool feature, but the downside is that it takes away the sustained airtime you would otherwise get in the back row. On the ones without the holding brake, in the back row, I've counted roughly 5 seconds or so of sustained floater airtime, which begins before the end of the ascent, and can only continue if it doesn't do the hold. It's nice that Valleyfair's is different, but I'm not sure if I actually like it more. It is my 3rd favorite at the park behind Excalibur and of course Renegade at the top.

    • @chouseification
      @chouseification 11 месяцев назад

      yes, and for perspective to keep in mind: Corkscrew is one of the very earliest modern (safe) looping coasters. Knott's had the corkscrew element in the late 60s on one ride, but no loops.
      The first with a loop to open was Magic Mountain in '76 (watch the movie "Rollercoaster" to see that ride, last segment of film), and then within a few years, Arrow was installing them at many parks, starting with Cedar Point's Corkscrew (very similar to the Valleyfair ride built a few years later) also in '76.
      I actually remember Valleyfair _before_ Corkscrew was installed. I was just a little kid, but I clearly remember the old San Francisco style cable cars they used to use to move people around the park - before they switched to the trains. That whole island where Power Tower is now (for a while there was a kiddie playground there) had several sections of the cable car line run over it.
      When Corkscrew came in, they had modified a lot around that area. That was 1980.
      The rides are still fun, but wow the concession prices have really become parasitic in recent years... Cedar Fair really needs to step back and ponder those prices. This is NOT Disney...

      It's definitely Cedar Fair's park of unique oddities. Excalibur is unlike anything else in existence, High Roller is the only coaster made by its manufacturer, Wild Thing was the first Morgan Hyper, they have the best impulse, the best looking Larson Loop, a very underrated river rapids ride, taller than average drop towers, screaming swings and sky coasters and some of the best food and landscaping in the chain (outside the obvious winners). This park may not draw you in as much as other Cedar Fair parks, but it leaves you with a lot to talk about.

      SkyHawk on paper is taller than Xtreme Swing. Due to the sign ontop of Sky Hawk. (not joking) that sign makes Sky Hawk 103 feet vs 100 feet for Xteme Swing. - FUN FACT - Both these rides where the first of their kind when they opened in 2006. But they where prototypes put into production. For Xteme Swing opening year it had habbit of tear itself apart to an extent. The Swing closest to Power tower went down for majority of the 2006 season because it blew a hole in the piston chamber. Both rides will also loose the ability to stop if they loose power or are E stopped. This is because it uses the compressed air to stop it self. With out power the ride just goes into free swing. I can take 30+ Minutes for it to stop if lost power at max swing. - How i know.. I ran the ride opening year. And yes. I still go on it. Even after getting stuck on when it lost power 3rd brake cycle. One fun ride
