    Nice job. But you do know that the instant pot is actually a slow cooker also ?
    Just use the slow cooker setting on the instant pot and set it for 8 hours and it will do the same thing as your regular crockpot
    Also u need very little liquid in the instant pot because not moisture or liquid escapes through the air because it’s completely sealed
    But the more u use it. The more you will enjoy it. Like I said before
    I threw my crockpot away a few years ago
    Cause the instant pot does the same exact thing as the crockpot and more.
    Love y’all guys
    Keep cooking
    100k is around the corner

      Have you actually used the instant pot as a slow cooker? I tried chili. Dried beans, soaked for 18 hours added rest of ingredients and sit on normal for 10 hours. Beans were still as hard as rocks. I'm sure if you used canned beans it might be better. Any suggestions for me would be appreciated!

    • @barbaralincoln8542
      @barbaralincoln8542 2 года назад +1

      I think that the dry beans can be hard even if you soaked them I have boiled them about 10 mins and turn off the heat and cover and let set for 2 hrs and they are still hard and I do White beans.

    • @Lisa-nx7fl
      @Lisa-nx7fl 2 года назад +2

      @@chrisharrison5126 I cook my beans all the time in instant pot. If you want to slow cook, do it as normal, about 30 minutes before you eat put on pressure lid, pressure them for 10 minutes, natural release, beans are perfectly done. I've never had a problem with hard or tough beans. I also do this with old fashioned pressure cooker.

    • @kewpiefan72
      @kewpiefan72 2 года назад +3

      I don’t know if this is true but I’ve heard if the beans are old, you’ll never get the center soft. But I’m thinking surely a pressure cooker could get the center soft! Good thinking!

    The Instant Pot requires at least 1 cup of water in order to come to pressure; that’s the reason behind the amount of water. Also, I notice several people refer to this vessel as the “Insta Pot”. If you look on the front of it, it’s actually “Instant Pot”. Love your videos, Leslie and love spending time with you in your beautiful kitchen ❤️

    I love my INSTANT POT. I love cooking 5 -10 lbs of ground beef at a time. Cook it off, use my meat chopper to break it down after I take it out. I weigh out 1 lb increments and freeze ziplock bags flats for quick use in spaghetti, tacos, chili, do I ps, etc. It takes 3 min in the microwave to thaw a 1 lb bag.

    My dad (96 year old) prefers the slow cooker with potatoes, onions, celery and carrots cooked with the roast. My husband likes the slow cooker also. I do not own an instant pot but have done roasts in the oven and slower cooker. The slow cooker is more convenient for me also since taking dad and my husband to many doctor appointments.

    Crockpot...cook low and slow, fall-apart tender, seasonings are absorbed really good, and I take it out and put carrots and potatoes in the juice, then put the roast back on top and put some cabbage on top of the meat with some butter, s&p, lid on and let the veggies cook, served over rice....can't get any better than that, in my opinion! 😋💜😊

    I need to get back on the horse and cook a pot roast again. The last time I cooked a pot roast in the crockpot with potatoes & carrots, I had a couple of turnips and thought, “I should throw those in.” Ugh 😣 🤦‍♀️ Why didn’t my mother warn me about the dangers of cooking with turnips?! They ruined the entire dish. All the meat and vegetables tasted like stinky feet. I had to throw the entire thing out. I cried and my confidence took a blow, but there is nothing better than pot roast with potatoes and carrots and brown gravy and a thick piece of buttered bread to sop it up with. Back on the horse I go! I’m not going to buy a turnip again for a good long while. That was personal!

When I make my pot roast in it I always do beef broth then when it is done I take out the meat and make my gravy right in the pot on Saute and some corn starch it is so good! • @jeanneg7430
    @jeanneg7430 2 года назад +18

    I've tried making a chuck roast in a pressure cooker (I don't have the Insta Pot brand) & I've tried making one in the slow cooker & I've also made it in the oven. Even though there are admitted benefits to each of the ones mentioned. My family all preferred the ones I've made in the oven (so I save those other kitchen appliances for other things). I like all of your videos, so it doesn't really matter which type. I do enjoy the ones where you try new recipes & give us your opinion on them - so maybe those are my favorites, if I have to pick just one; otherwise, I wouldn't pick & I'd say I like them all.

  • @janemartin229
    @janemartin229 2 года назад

    The great thing about the IP is that you can sear the roast first in it and add that extra flavor. You can also cook a roast in there and then just leave it on keep warm for hours until you're ready to eat. The only thing is to remember why pressure cookers were invented, not only to save time, but to break down the fibers in tough, cheaper cuts of meat to save money. They must have liquid to pressurize (and not burn) so if your favorite pot roast is just adding a can of cream of mushroom soup and dry seasonings, make it in the crockpot!

    Ive not gotten an instapot .
    Just another gadget to store and keep up (for me). So ive not used one and most likely will not.
    Did look good! If I had a big family and was younger and more busy, I would try it

    Honestly i was the same way. Afraid of the instant pot. I purchased one and still sat on it for months. So i tried it one day and now love it. Still love my crock pot just depends on timing now as to what i use. You did a great job.

    I love to put a whole frozen chicken in mind and set it to a meat setting, falls off the bone!

    Using a instant pot for about three yrs almost daily. It’s not the extra water. You always have to have at least 1 cup of water for it to come to pressure.
    Try to begin using it. It will save you so much time. I know you will love it the more you use it.

    I have to confess, I too, am a creature of habit. I loved your video. You remind me so much of myself. I get tickled when you say you mess certain names and things up.
    I have done roasts in both.
    I never cook my roasts on low with my crockpot (crockpot brand).
    I set mine on high for 8-10 hours. Both are good however, I still prefer my crockpot for the roast.
    Totally enjoyed your video and your "taste tester's" comments. Very helpful.
    Bless you for your time.

    depend on how much time you have . I prefer the crock pot myself I love the smell of cooking all day. I also cook my raw meat on high in my crook pot for 1 hour than turn it down on low can't remember who told me to do that in the seventies when I got my first crock pot. was Christmas gift I from my mom and never look back. Now my mom just ever use hers. lol

    Both types of pot roast cooking were no different as far as your seasonings, which made them taste close to identical. Cooking pot is your choice. Now....where's the carrots, potatoes, etc,? These pots were designed for fast fix or very slow cooking with easymeals. My question is why would I want to cook my side dishes separately? I am 86 years old and have been cooking with a pressure cooker for years. The fast pot is just a newbie pressure cooker. Also been using crock pots since they came on the market. I wish I could send everyone my old presto cookbook that came with my Presto so you could use the many recipes that would work in your fast pot. Love the farming pastors wife clips on You Tube.
