I adore my crockpot! I have one from the 80s that still works great. Love how easy they are to use

I've used my crock pots for years and love them , I got an Instant Pot when they were fairly new and while I liked it and used it a ton now that the newness has worn off I find I don't use it all that often anymore. I use it for hard cooked eggs, beans, and chicken breasts from the freezer and that's about it. I still use my crockpot a couple times a week. The slow cook function on mine is terrible, it doesn't get hot enough and I have talked to several people that have had the same experience. So I will stick to my crock pots.

I have gone through several crock pots in my life and absolutely love them. I have two these days that I use for different things. I have a small one I use for small amounts like refried beans and such. I also have one of the largest ovel pots for whole meals like roasts and whole chickens. Pressure cookers scare me to death! I remember seeing one explode as a child and that was enough to turn me off to them.

Lol, I think we all have those memories or imagine stew splattered to the walls. If it’s any comfort, I think it’s impossible for that to happen to an Instant Pot thanks to all the fsilsafes. Thanks for watching and happy cooking 🙏

I used to have a slow cooker and donated. I absolutely LOVE my IP. I make homemade broth, soups, rice, quinoa, oatmeal, chili, mashed potatoes, steam, etc. I actually use it at work too. I’m a personal cook. If my IP breaks I’ll immediately without a doubt purchase another one. Same Instant pot brand. I don’t slow cook anymore.

Oddly enough, I own both and rarely use either! I have used both to good advantage when I was working 5-6 days a week, but now that I’m retired and not as pressed for time, I prefer stove top, hands on (well, spoon in!) cooking.

I've had an Instant Pot for about 5 years. I use it regularly - most often as a rice cooker, but it makes good broth, soup, Corned Beef, Pot Roast, pulled pork, ribs, and various other dishes. The Yogurt setting not only makes great homemade yogurt, but also can be used to proof (rise) bread dough. One benefit you did not mention is the ability to sauté in the pot before pressure cooking - this allows you to sear a pot roast before pressure cooking.
One of my favorite uses is to pressure cook a whole chicken to make chicken stew - make the broth while cooking the chicken, pick the chicken meat, then cook veggies in the broth, add roux to thicken and add back the picked chicken and seasoning.
However, a dedicated slow cooker is better than the Instant Pot for Slow Cooking. I usually do pulled pork in the Slow Cooker because the slow cooking is more flavorful.

Great points! And how could i have forgotten to mention the saute feature? See, there's just too many, lol. But yes, the ability to sear meat, saute rice for pilaf, etc., is a game-changer. Thanks for watching and happy cooking!

I have both and would never give up either one. My favorite use of the crockpot, is when i go to like potlucks. I take it in my crockpot so it can be plugged in and keep food warm the whole time. In fact...I have two crockpots for that purpose. I'm the one that brings chili and cheesy ro-tel dip and chips to your potluck. Lol
Thanks for your reviews on these products. Love your videos!😊

Chef Matt is right. I owned both for a while, and ended up donating the crock pot to a local Salvation Army store. Because while the crock pot works great, an Instant Pot can do everything it does, plus a whole lot more. It replaces a pressure cooker by essentially being "a pressure cooker with digital controls and programs" and even replaces a crock pot too, by being a "crock pot plus." This is an incredibly useful and versatile device, and once you own one of them, you can't live without it.

My perspective is as a single recently disabled guy I started paying attention and realized I like to cook !!! I’d love to see a video on different spices and what when and how to use them…. For instance this morning I made simple potatoes and onions but added spices and wow it was like something new …any help and thanks for content

Hi Chef Matt! Coincidentally, last week, I finally got an Instant Pot for myself - it is 3-quart (since I’m a single-person household), “Star War” theme-design, on sale on Amazon. Immediately, I fell in love w/ it - better late than never, since IP has been around successfully for >1 decade. IP has been an international sensation, too; i.e.: Chinese use them for traditional soy sauce-braised dishes, Indians various dals, Middle-Easterners various rice dishes and stews, etc.. In fact, ~2 hours before your this video, I learnt online that a very interestingly good number of people have more than 1 IP at home - hopefully of different sizes - because they are hooked on the fun at making food w/ IP.

Congrats on the purchase! It sounds like it’s already serving you well. I have both a 6-quart and 3-quart model and use them constantly. I even make homemade dog food in them (my other RUclips channel is Barking Good Chef). They are incredible machines, and many home cooks are still learning about them, so welcome to the club! Thanks for watching and happy cooking 🧑‍🍳

My instant pot equivalent a Philips is a must have in the kitchen.
Pasta rice soups stews braises Ox Tails yum yum
It does cost a bit more than a basic rice cooker /crockpot but IMO is totally worth it
Back in the day Mum would have loved it for feeding the family quickly.

Thanks chef MATT, i prefer Emeril Lagasse's combination pressure cooker/air fryer. Because it does everything as you described, but extra features. It has 3 different covers which are not attached to the unit.. A pressure cooker lid of course, a glass lid for other methods and an Air Fryer lid which bakes, air fries etc. And of course, since Emeril has his Name on it signifies quality.
