Their Gemini EVO is a water based material. Dries hard enough to flip in about 2 hours indoor. great product. Ive never used their lacquer only because the evo and old titanium have worked great so far.
Stick to what you know but experiment others as sometimes the manufacturers decide to discontinue certain products and you don't want to be in that position.
I had some new cabs built. Wanted them sprayed with lacquer so I had them sprayed with Sherwin Williams undercoater first. They put it on pretty heavy but I sanded them to a nice, clean, smooth finish. The finish coat we used was this Gemini Gem Coat. The sprayer used was a Graco 395 with a Titan tip. I can't remember the tip size but it wasn't a low volume fine finsh tip.i tried to get a 410 but the man spraying said it wouldn't work with his setup. There are places, especially on the edges where the paint, I guess, dried too fast and feels dull and rough. I plan to buy more paint and give it another coat.. Can you please give me any advice for a more successful spray? Thanks so much! Love your videos.
Best advice I can give you is to buy a Graco guard X and a fine finish green tip. If your spray man used a latex paint (big) then it's hard to get the smooth finishes, you can do it, but your gotta be really handy with the gun. Start with low pressure and test the back of panels to see if you are getting the spray patter desired and the time to work with lacquer is ideal. Spray under shade, good air circulation. If lacquer is too thick you can always thin it with lacquer thinner and if they fog on you then add some acetone and that will help with drying time allowing moisture to be released. Don't worry about messing up, lacquer dries super fast and easy to sand. Always a learning curve. Cheers
I’m a painter in Canada. All I do is cabinets now. Having lines meant u messed up your spray pattern and u didn’t set up your gun properly befor u did the cabinets.
Hey what are your thoughts on gemini finish overall. I primarily used M L Campbell finish. Was wondering how the gemini finish is doing nowadays. Thanks
@@davidswestcoastpainting8510 good deal. I have never had any issues with ml Campbell. The thing here every finish wants to compare to Ml Campbell saying it's just as good or better. They never comeback when I tell them to bring me some to try. So I just wanted an honest opinion, besides the sales rep. Thanks
that little sprayer will make a huge difference, make sure to use the graco FF green tips, don't use blue unless you are doing super big panels. also make sure to thin down product when needed as it does make a difference to achieving smooth finishes. I spraying cabinets tomorrow and will make a video or setup and clean up. cheers

@@deekoh3996 for latex paints get an airless sprayer like a graco 390pc or bigger ....it all depends how much spraying you will be doing but that 390 is a descent sprayer to start with. Use the other for lacquers only.
Wats the price for a standard size kitchen to sand and do white Lacor paint ? I know it’s hard to give a price in a comment, but wat does it start at ? Thx 😊
Prices vary depending on many variables. What do you have now on cabinets? Are they stained or painted, new? State/condition? Could be as low as 2k-10-15-30k it all depends on size as well.
If you are using lacquer you must use a lacquer "undercoater", for oil base paint use oil base cover stain or shellac, both are made by Zinsser. For water base paint you can use zinsser 123 or cover stain in water base.

Can't go wrong with Gemini specifically the precat....smells very strong but it's worth it...

You can but the seals will get blown shortly after since the solvets are too strong. I recommend using the titan ed 655 plus

I do add when needed and try not to exceed 8oz per gallon....start low and increase as needed.
