Agreed. Interesting that Ludwig never branded his name on these kits which were right around physical graffiti era. That album and presence had the best drum sound of Bonham ever recorded. Believe it's Ludwig 3 ply maple with re-rings and chrome over.

Man what a killer version i forgot about this one, thank you so much for sharing this magnificent take, what strikes me is how goddamn demanding this song was and Bonham just kept going. Made me think on his 1980 depression and the "i don't wanna play drums anymore", he had one of the most demanding jobs in rock. Happy New Year to you Sir!

Bonzo was great in 77, great snare work. Stole Billys drum tech. More wild. Wish page was better tho, at else on on 75 level. Good comeback for Plant in 77.

If this is how the stainless steel drums would've actually sounded in 1977, then the soundboard really doesn't do John Bonhams sound justice, because it sounds so good and tight!

Yes, there are quite a few that are incredible, and a few where he stumbles but I know what you mean, they're little gems, or I should say big gems!

I just put one of my pet cats (Lil' Beautiful) to sleep yesterday that was overcome with Chronic Kidney Disease. So 2023 hasn't started off great but I am glad I can come here and enjoy your channel. It is an escape from some of the unfortunate things in life.
By the way, the mix of your drums with the other instruments is perfect. Drums are a bit loud but the emphasis (point of the video) is on them anyway. Sounds great man.

Thank you! Those are all singles, triplets between cymbal crashes and the snare alternating.
The stuff they play in the live versions of this song after plant advises everything that small is going to grow always blows my mind. Their 2007 02 version with Jason on drums included. Masterful music every single time.

I could totally see him revisiting the Vistalites like Jason used at the 02. Pretty sure Jason was still under contract with Zildjian for his symbols and highhat setup before switching to Paiste.

I'd be interested in your compression attack and release times, gates, eq's and anything else you'd like to share on your drums processing sound.
Hi, I'm actually extremely unskilled when it comes to that stuff. I use audacity to just add a little bit of graphic EQ. Sometimes I'll add a bit of reverb, I really don't understand how compression works, but they have a plugin that I use just a touch.

Thank you, the 18, 24 and 20 are all vintage 70's black label 2002 medium crashes, the 18 above the floor toms is a 602 from the '60s.
@@BONHAMOLOGY thanks! Unfortunately my black label 18” medium has sustained a small crack. The red label mediums just aren’t the same and yet my new red label crash is very similar to the black label mediums because it’s around the same weight.
