Their most underrated song by everyone, the fans and the band itself, if it was my song it would be on every show like Wake Up is. The end part is so freaking epic!
We are going to be great friends pirate Cuz your a cat And because this song is everything to me it took me into another realm, stopped me in my tracks then first time I heard the drums.
I was brought up in the Suburbs, so I really get this, I want to cry sometimes,,, I am 52 from Glasgow Scotland. Back in the late 70's and early 80's music really did divide us into tribes. My friends and I were all into heavy metal and prog rock, like King Crimson, Sabbath, early Alice Cooper. I wore all the gear ripped faded jeans, Army jacket with all the patches, Zep, Zappa. We had friends who were Punks and we had to fight the skinheads, who hated everyone. But one day, I remember, I must have turned 15, I had heard a Bowie song on the Radio, and it just so happened that the massive Virgin Record store which had 6 floors that I went too every Saturday had a Bowie record sale, really cheap, about the 3rd of the price of current ones.So I bought like 4 records including the one which had the song from the radio, the album was Hunky Dory, WOW. I was in real Music Heaven for months, so I became a Mod, we wore Stay press trousers, Black shoes, shirt and cheap blazers with an American 2nd hand army store parker with the fishtail and we rode scooters. What had happened in the 60's in the UK was happening again. But,,,,, where are all my friends now, they all left Scotland for work and the others died through drugs,,,,,,,, Heroin, and Benzos destroyed my generation,, but hey,, Arcade fire give this man, in his early 40's another chance to enjoy great music and Bowie loved them and pushed them from the very start. Seen the Fire in glasgow twice and in londons Hyde park in 2015 in front of 65,000 people. They done this track just as the sun went down behind us, on one of the hottest days of the year, even before the song, Win looked out over the crowd and urged us to turn and look at one of the best sunsets he had ever seen, GREAT STUFF>
the ending to this song has always been my favourite part, the way it breaks down into frantic drumming is so awesome "ALL MY OOOOOLDD FRIENDS, THEY DONT KNOW ME NOW"
This is my favorite song of all times. Can listen to it over and over again. I've seen AF three times live and they never played it. Will keep returning untill they do.
Bittersweet coming of age in a place with nothing to do, and your friends are your world, and it rips your heart out to lose them but you grow apart, and you still hope to reconnect, in a chance meeting, but it's never the same. This song really captures the feelings, and I'm still looking for you in each passing car...
The sound quality here is just the best, it's better than the album, not in precision, but in vibe, and near precision. God damn it this is fantastic. Glad to have discovered it tonight
Wish the studio version rocked out at the end like here in the live performance. This song is easily one of the best and most underrated Arcade Fire songs
They did this about a half dozen times during soundcheck at Shoreline Amphitheater a couple of years ago. It was amazing. Alas, they didn't do the song during their set. I was a little bummed. I thought since they sound checked it, they were going to play it. The show was still amazing though, and I actually got to be onstage wearing a bobblehead during 'Normal People'. The thrill of a lifetime!
My favorite off the Suburbs. I had the pleasure of hearing this during their soundcheck from outside the venue last month, but they didn't play it :/ such an amazing band. My favorite ever.
I just cant help cry when i hear this song, i noticed that "the suburbs" was about being a grew up person, and it's such a freaking awesome and sadness experience. Thank u for this acarde
It's my favorite song from Arcade Fire. The drum part at the song's end never fails to make me creep in awe. Thank you for making such a beautiful song.
I love how Arcade fire is such an underrated band they sound so amazing and hit right in my feelings been listening to them since I was 14 ❤ now 22... Oh how the time has flown by... "Living in the shadows of your song"
Simply amazing! Best band on the planet IMO. This is my favorite song from the 'The Suburbs' I've seen them live twice, and cannot wait till they tour again. : )
Pero que canción por Dios...¡¡¡!!! Es una gran joya..💎 Arcade Fire merece estar entre las mejores bandas de todos los tiempos... Su música es una maravilla para los oídos...🎶
I'm a little late to the party but my oh my, what a fucking tune this is. Beautiful lyrics and arrangements. 'All my old friends they don't know me now'. ❤
With their new album many great songs will be left out on their next tour but this one should be a must in their list, fans should request it at every concert.
Absolutely awesome live. Only seen them twice, but both shows gave me chills. Still second for me behind Springsteen, but I've seen a lot of bands and they are ahead of lots of "legends" in my book.
I'm not so sure they will leave them out. I think this short 'Reflektors' tour right now is to test reaction to the new album played live because some songs from The Suburbs weren't too well received at first. They know what Arcade Fire fans want to hear played at full length gigs.
Their most underrated song by everyone, the fans and the band itself, if it was my song it would be on every show like Wake Up is. The end part is so freaking epic!
+Pirate Cat It's my favorite song on this album. It's definitely underappreciated.
+revton3197 My favorite song of the band.
Agree
I got to see them play this on the everything now continued tour. Treat
We are going to be great friends pirate
Cuz your a cat
And because this song is everything to me it took me into another realm, stopped me in my tracks then first time I heard the drums.
I swear the guitar riff in this song is one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard.
It’s an arpeggio not a riff**
Win Butler didn't knew what he was doing when he created Arcade Fire. Now he'll be remembered as one of the greatest musicians of our time
And an asshole. Don't forget that every fan that knows him knows that he is one of the biggest assholes in the business.
@@TheSubmissionChannel for real?
@@ThisIsNuckingFuts they are by all comparisons "musical legends" - you may not like them and that's fine

This song is a masterpiece, both musically and lyrically. One of my favorites among Tunnels and a few others.

the ending to this song has always been my favourite part, the way it breaks down into frantic drumming is so awesome "ALL MY OOOOOLDD FRIENDS, THEY DONT KNOW ME NOW"
One of the greatest bands of our time
''our'' or ''all''... :) I would say both.
Concordo
Agreed. Up there with Built to Spill, Beach Fossil and The Decemberists
this song make me remember in things that didn't happen

"They say the past won't rest, until we jump the fence and leave it behind"
Such a great fucking song
I just listened to this 30 times
This is my favorite song of all times. Can listen to it over and over again. I've seen AF three times live and they never played it. Will keep returning untill they do.
So do I :) Chased like Let Down of Radiohead :)
+Marco Vignozzi I heard Suburban War before Let Down but when I first heard Let Down it reminded me a lot of Suburban War.
One of my all time favourite songs.

The most overlooked Arcade Fire song in my book.
This is and always will be my favorite AF song.
They will never top The Suburbs in my eyes. And I've been a fan since the beginning
I'm happy when they try :)
I think your right. The next albums aren't bad but the suburbs is excellent. Difficult to top
This is the best live version of that track I've come across on RUclips. It is even better than the version on The Suburbs. Mesmeric.
this song chokes me up every time. I only hear it seldom even though I love it, because it has such an impact on me.
Makes me cry just for the beauty...
When the drum beat kicks in at 3:30 after the build-up from 3:18... THE CHILLS, THE CHILLS.

Those opening bars and the slide guitar. Goosepimples stuff.

Absolutely awesome live. Only seen them twice, but both shows gave me chills. Still second for me behind Springsteen, but I've seen a lot of bands and they are ahead of lots of "legends" in my book.
What other songs from this album that have the epic outro like this song? Mind sharing. Thanks mates.
Top!
I'm not so sure they will leave them out. I think this short 'Reflektors' tour right now is to test reaction to the new album played live because some songs from The Suburbs weren't too well received at first. They know what Arcade Fire fans want to hear played at full length gigs.
Wooow it's rare and good! =)
Chills
So bad they hardly ever play it live. Amazing and underrated song!
The cities we live in - could be distant stars...
