    I've been doing calisthenic exercises for an hour a day for a number of years now tother with intermittent fasting and periodic 3day fasting for Autophagy.
    I gave up alcohol 3 years ago and have really cleaned up my diet ie no chocolate, crisps or general junk food.
    Socal media is now pretty much unavoidable but I only generally use a couple of media outlets.
    I'm seeking out yoga soon & am interested in Buddhism, Taoism together with general spirituality.
    All of these things have helped enormously to a better state of being.
    I'd never heard of Monk mode living before but guess I'm accidentally already on this path of living.
    My overall consumption of goods is minimal and so to my household items.
    Living this way isn't difficult but conquering my alcohol & junk food addictions were.
    Good luck on everyone's journey.

      I'm happy for you. There's a thing in common with many others which is giving up on alcohol, like it's the devil. Yes, if you drink whiskey, vodka or 1 litre of wine every day. However what about a delicious, artisan made, glass of wine or a beer after a long day? That is a reward that I would never give up. Alcohol don't always means addiction.

    • @greenway64
      @greenway64 Год назад +2

      @micheleberto1846 yes your right of course, in moderation and infrequently alcohol is fine.
      For myself it became to much of a nice habit and those very words "I've earned it or deserve it" were very much in my thoughts every time I drank.
      It wasn't until I decided to finally quit did I realise it wasn't that easy, like it had become a necessity & that didn't sit comfortably with me.
      I feel so much better without it in my life and would never go back to it as so many thing have changed for the better without it.

    *The purpose of improving ourselves is not to improve ourselves, but to improve our ability to do good for others. And through that hopefully better understand why we are even here in the first place.*
    Beautiful way to finish the banger video. We often get caught up in improving ourselves for our own sake and gains (which is a fair starting point), but a great reminder that at some point we need to mentally transition that the purpose of improving ourselves is to ensure our own cup is full, such that we can help fill others' cup if and when needed. Thank you for the content and message Stephen🙏

    What part of monk mode had the most impact on you? I am only drinking water, eating more healthy, skipping breakfasts, trying to avoid social media (obviously fail), never go out, start exercising again.

    • @steveantonioni
      @steveantonioni  Год назад +20

      Meditation by far. But I only had high quality meditation sessions by keeping everything else very strict. I believe this is why Buddhism has the Eightfold Path and Yoga has the Eight Limbs as per Patanjali. It's been mapped out very clearly in those traditions.

    im probably one of your odd subscribers (an asian muslim woman), but ive been practicing living under my means, practice discipline with my consumption i mainly struggled with media addiction before, i think my beliefs in my faith helped me not to get sucked into other addictions that are made forbidden for us (alcohol, premarital sex, drugs). After getting my physical and mental state in the right order through journalling, routine, healthy lifestyle, then i discovered Sufism, a branch in islam that focuses on ascetism. I have been at peace since. Im also a business owner hence yes, i needed that enlightenment to stay focus on my life (my people, my work and my community)
    Been loving all your recent videos Stephen, appreciate the effort put into each one of them, especially the scenic cinematography shots.

    Listening to Shaolin monk interviews, especially Shi Heng Yi from my country (Germany) literally saved me. After losing my best friend to suicide, I fell into depression and anorexia, and when I finally switched into warrior monk mode I took control over my emotions. Why would I choose to suffer and sit around just because I'm allowing myself to feel sad and depressed? Who cares about my thoughts? I got myself a job, started bodybuilding and now I'm considering competing soon!

    Wow, mate, I didn't really watch such videos about Monk Mode. But right now I realize that I've been trying to live such lifestyle for a 6-months already. I don't masturbate or watch porn, I do sport 5 times a week, I'm a vegan and I'm trying to eat a whole plant-based food, I meditate quite often, I got rid of easy dopamin and etc. I just feel better in such mode. Thank you for this video, btw can you give a link on that thread about Concentration Meditation?

    As you mentioned, there are many guides on how to live out in "monk" mode; However, I would be very interested to hear your advice on how to set up a routine. You have a more trustworthy and open minded approach compared to others, who generally make unnecessary promises and don't have as much experience to rely on.
    Wether you will talk about this or not, I always enjoy pondering on your lessons and opinions you share with us.

    This is so related to the dopamine fasting I heard about. It's the same principle. Sometimes the answers are so obvious but we, humans, tend to make it hard just to justify our additions (and I don't mean only to drugs).

    After rewiring the "seek pleasure, avoid pain" system, getting into grind mode, always choosing the tough path etc, I have difficulties because now for me it's like "seek pain, avoid pleasure". I can't enjoy resting anymore, or doing easy fun things. As soon as I feel comfortable I get anxious and feel like there's something wrong. Why is it so hard to find the middle way😭

    Thanks Stephen, great video as always. I’ve had great insights and clarity in the past when doing prolonged fasting or dopamine detoxes but always find myself drifting back to bad habits. I feel like most people can push themselves through “monk mode” for a week or two but then lose momentum. Any tips on incorporating these habits long term?

    • @steveantonioni
      @steveantonioni  Год назад +4

      In my experience, you need at least a month straight before things really start to re-wire in your mind, and have lasting changes.
      I would add meditation to it if you haven't already. You have to gain control over your mind to the point where you are directing it as opposed to it directing you. You are not your mind, realizing and recognizing this is very important imo.
